Located in a former hotel, this apartment has breathtaking sea views. We particularly love the main bedroom with its four-poster bed and ocean vistas (there's also an office area here if you want to write a travel blog or catch up on work). In fact, there are sea views to enjoy from most rooms. The highlight, though, for us, is the private garden area around the apartment – you have a terrace and garden furniture for alfresco meals – it's a great space overlooking the Grande Plage, as well as the Pointe de la Garde.

Spend idyllic days on the Grande Plage on your doorstep or indulge in some water sports such as surfing, paddleboarding or take some catamaran lessons. If you fancy exploring further afield, then Cape Fréhel, to the west, is perfect for bird watchers, or the nearby charming resort of Saint-Cast-le-Guildo has a small port and coastal paths.

This slice of tropical modernity comes as quite a surprise in a town known for its medieval ramparts and cobbled streets. A timber cabin-style home that wouldn't look out of place in the world's most exotic corners, it's even set in a private garden that's inspired by the jungle. We highly recommend an alfresco dinner on the terrace, washed down with a glass of French wine. When you're finished, head up to the terrace to watch the sunset – the waterfront views have to be seen to be believed.

The south-facing terrace is a wonderful spot, looking out over the lush gardens – we’d be tempted to fire up the barbecue for a dinner under the stars. You’re close to the coast so the seafood is great – the scallops from the Bay of Saint-Brieuc in particular are divine.

Inside, it’s calm and collected with vintage furnishings in the living space and a sleek kitchen with everything you need for putting together Breton-inspired dishes. Begin your mornings with a coffee on the quiet balcony before grabbing your seaside essentials and skipping down to the stretch of golden sand. 

Stroll into town for freshly caught scallops in a local restaurant then explore the Cap d’Erquy moors. Head home in the late afternoon to watch the sun set over the harbour with a glass of wine in hand. And when it’s time to get some rest, an early night is impossible to resist thanks to the supremely comfortable beds dressed in crisp, white linens.

If you're after a comfortable and stylish place to call home while exploring the beautiful Brittany coastline, then look no further than this family-size house with everything needed for an endlessly relaxing stay. Located on the outskirts of Saint-Briac, you're a short walk from several sandy beaches and outstanding golf courses, while being just 1.5 kilometres from the town centre, full of charm and character, with granite houses, small cobbled streets, bakeries, shops, and seafood restaurants. 

Architecturally, it's a stunning design and we love how the owners have made use of the space. With the double-vaulted ceiling, skylights, and floor-to-ceiling windows making the home wonderfully inviting and open. Whether you're cooking in the contemporary kitchen, mapping out the daily plans around the dining table, or enjoying your holiday read in the cosy living area, it's all in one space so you can really make the space into your own social sanctuary. 

The star of the show is the large decked terrace outside, complete with seating and a barbecue for alfesco meals in the sunshine. When it's time to head out, walk to the pristine sand of Plage Du Bechet or Plage De La Salinette, and enjoy fun-filled days sunbathing and swimming. 

Pure & Simple

We fell hard for this characterful home not far from the St Lunaire coastline and we're pretty sure other guests will be just as smitten. A lot of that is down to the design. Much of it is contemporary in scope, from the minimalist kitchen and stark white walls to the bare wooden floors and the chic selection of furnishings. However, there are a few features that hark back to the past, like the large cabinets filled with curios and the vintage wall signs.

One of our favourite parts of the home, however, is just how bright it feels – that's what'll happen if you fill the walls with large windows, skylights and floor-to-ceiling glass doors. If you want to feel the sun directly on your skin, you only have to step outside onto one of the pair of terraces, which have both loungers and an alfresco dining table for making the most of sunny weather.

If you're lucky with the forecast, you'll probably want to make the most of the fact that St Lunaire's main beach is less than a kilometre away and there are a few more along this stretch of Breton coastline to explore. The centre of town is just as close when you want restaurants and shops, but there's a greater variety in the Dinard, only a short drive away.

This home in Saint-Malo is full of classic charm, with large picture windows, rustic floorboards and exposed beams. When it’s time to catch up with your loved ones, the open-plan living, kitchen and dining area gives plenty of space for everyone to gather over good food, fine wine, and enjoy great conversation. 

Head outdoors into the garden and it’s quite the sun trap. Settle down on the comfortable deckchairs and enjoy the scent of the sea in the air. When it tempts you enough, it’s just a short 300-metre stroll to the nearest beach. For those keen to get out on the water, you’ll also find a sailing school just twenty minutes away by foot. With much to do in the area, this home provides an elegant backdrop to what promises to be a wonderful stay.

Step inside and your eyes will be drawn to the original features that this home boasts, such as the imposing, grand fireplace and the exposed wooden beams. Sitting alongside the old, you’ll find an inviting chaise sofa, just the place to relax after a long day out exploring the local area. 

Climb the twisting wooden staircase and upstairs, there are two charming bedrooms which promise a peaceful night’s sleep once the day is done. Our favourite spot, though, is the sunny south-facing garden – just the place to start or end your day. So, whether it’s with a coffee first thing as you listen to the backdrop of birdsong, or last thing at night with a glass of fine French wine and some quality time with loved ones, this is a place to be enjoyed. 

The local village of Plumaudan is picturesque and a quiet location to spend your days. If you’re planning to travel further afield, we’d recommend a visit to the mediaeval town of Dinan, just 12 kilometres away, where you can stroll around the port, enjoy a spot of lunch or even rent a boat if a day on the water tickles your fancy.

Situated just 50 metres from the nearest beach, this charming, Saint-Malo home is a great base for your next couple's retreat to historic Brittany.
