The drive to reach the chalet may not be the easiest, and snow tyres and chains, as well as a 4x4 vehicle, are a must, but it’s worth the effort. Surrounded by nature, this is somewhere you can truly switch off – and, step inside, and you’re met with a contemporary yet homely space. When you’re ready to hit the slopes, experienced skiers can ski straight from the chalet via a blue slope – otherwise, it’s a mere 1.5 kilometres to the lifts at Le Plan. 

Mountain Modern

This beautiful chalet in the French Alps offers views of Mont Blanc and the Aravis mountains from its position in the village of Domancy. It’s tucked away at the end of a cul-de-sac and is peaceful, but you’ll be just minutes from the slopes. Whether you spend your days skiing or partaking in other mountain sports, you’ll enjoy the hot tub and sauna. There’s a terrace for alfresco dining when the weather permits, with a long dining table inside as well. There’s plenty of room for a large group to gather together here.

Thankfully, the home itself is of such stellar quality that it would be well worth a visit regardless of location. The open layout of the ground floor is flooded with natural light from the large windows that run along each side, as well as offering some rather spectacular views of the Alpine scenery. Of course, you can take in this landscape with the sunshine on your skin by stepping out onto the home's terrace or wandering through the garden.

Throughout the rest of the living quarters, guests will find a superb collection of amenities that will make their holiday that little bit better. This beautiful home is perfectly positioned in a quiet, popular area of Annecy. The townhouse is 950 metres from the historic city centre and only a fifteen-minute walk from the lake. It was built in the 1930s and is full of character and charm, with everything you might need for a comfortable stay, including a well-equipped kitchen. The large garden, where you can admire mountain views, play games, and cook on the barbecue, is ideal for families.

This stylish little studio apartment is right in the heart of historic Annecy. From your doorstep, you can step out into streets lined with wooden-shuttered buildings, where cafés spill out onto the pavement. An alpine town, Annecy is flanked by snow-capped mountains and perhaps the most picturesque spot is the stone Palais in the centre of the Le Thiou River – the view of which is best enjoyed from the riverside restaurants and gelaterias, a five-minute walk from this apartment. Although it’s a studio, the apartment itself feels spacious and it has plenty of character courtesy of the exposed brick wall and hardwood floor. Our favourite spot to soak up the sunshine (and the scenery) is the deck off the main bedroom. Enjoy a cup of coffee there in the morning before rustling up breakfast in the kitchen, then grab your skis and snowboards and hit the slopes. When your toes feel frosty and your muscles are sore, head back home to a roaring fire and some delicious cheese fondue around the oak dining table before snuggling up for a family movie night in the lounge.
