A five-minute walk from the heart of Henley-on-Thames, where you’ll find independent shops and eateries, this home couldn’t be more ideally located. If you fancy stretching your legs, the Chiltern Hills are a short drive away. Back at the pad, there’s a well-equipped kitchen for dining in and comfortable bedrooms for a good night's sleep. Outside is a courtyard with a snug – your host provides blankets, making it a lovely spot to enjoy an alfresco cup of tea or a glass of something bubbly all year round.

The King's Repose

Nestled away in rural Oxfordshire, you'll find this modern manor home that's sure to make any family get-together an unforgettable one. Everything feels super-sized here, from the generous bedrooms and sleek white kitchen complete with an island to the two separate living rooms. The design is rustic-inspired without feeling dated in any way, especially the bold print wallpaper and natural-themed artwork. Out through the glass doors, there's a large lawn, alfresco seating and even a hot tub, so you can truly soak up the tranquillity of these parts. There are two National Trust sites that can be reached in under ten minutes' drive, while the Warburg Nature Reserve takes sixteen minutes in the car. For a change of pace at any time, the town of Henley-on-Thames is fourteen minutes' drive away, where you'll find independent shops and riverside pubs.

The Coxswain

Footsteps from the shops, restaurants and cafes that line Eton High Street and a ten-minute walk from Windsor Castle, this cottage suits families, friends and couples alike. Inside, the design blends character with contemporary style, and it's packed with everything you'll need for a comfortable stay. At capacity, two guests will be on the sofa in the living area, though – something to bear in mind if you’re planning an extended stay or want plenty of space for socialising. That said, there is a private patio with a seating area, so you can enjoy refreshments alfresco when the sun shines.

Eton Oasis

Bathed in natural light, decked out with comfortable furniture and blessed with a spacious open-plan layout, this flat in the centre of Maidenhead is perfect for anyone looking to explore the best of Berkshire.

A favourite among the Edwardian upper classes who didn't have the time or inclination to travel as far as Bath, Maidenhead is on the up and up. The soon-to-open Elizabeth line will also make getting into London a breeze, with a forty-minute train ride landing you at Tottenham Court Road.

Meanwhile, a visit to the nearby village of Bray is renowned for its Michelin-starred restaurants. In addition to Heston Blumenthal's Fat Duck and The Hind's Head, there's also Alain Roux's The Waterside Inn – you can't go wrong with any of them. 

Skindles

Right in the heart of the pretty town of Henley-on-Thames, this period home has been given a modern and fresh facelift. In the evenings, sit outside on the patio set with a bottle of wine or stroll two minutes down to the river for a G&T at one of the waterside pubs. Oh, and if you happen to be staying during the Henley Regatta, it's practically outside your front door.

There’s a sweet little terrace for warm-weather drinks and the living room comes with a fire for cosy evenings. You’ll also find a luxurious bathtub on the top floor – perfect for long soaks after a day of exploring.

It's worth noting that babies in their own Moses basket are welcome to stay, though pets are not allowed due to the farmland animals.

Wander the streets of Marlow to see what you can find – there's a gorgeous Vietnamese restaurant nearby as well as a great selection of rustic pubs to unwind in as you enjoy a pint or two. A short drive takes you to the verdant Higginson Park where you get a fantastic view of the river and is a lovely spot for a picnic.
