You could sneak in through the back at this apartment in a Regency manor, but that would take away from the grand entrance worthy of a Jane Austen heroine. Sashaying through the double doors and across the marble floor, past the stone fireplace, you come to your abode. It’s in the old ballroom of the manor, and the floor-to-ceiling bays windows and gilded mirrors haven’t changed since the days of swishing gowns and music from the pianoforte (indeed, there’s still a grand piano in here). 

Rather than a bandstand, there’s now a kitchen at the head of the ballroom, and if you prefer your evenings slightly more intimate, a book-lined snug with a plush velvet sofa awaits in the bedroom. We love the hand-carved antique bed, waiting to see you off to the land of nod.

There are acres of grounds to explore on the estate, but if you want to get out and see the Cornish coast, it’s just a ten-minute drive to the beaches of St Ives Bay. The gallery-filled old fishing town of St Ives itself is just twenty minutes by car.

With two living areas and several outdoor spaces, this home is perfect for a family or group of friends looking to spread out. To top it all, there's parking for up to two cars, which is a rare bonus in St. Ives.

The vibrant town centre is a five-minute walk, where you'll find plenty of bars, restaurants and shops. It's the same walking distance to Porthminster Beach, one of St Ives's six beaches – the others are Porthgwidden, Harbour, Porthmeor, Lambeth Walk and Bamaluz – so you're spoilt for choice. For art lovers, the Barbara Hepworth Museum is a seven-minute saunter, while the Tate St Ives is eleven minutes on foot.

Gyllyngvase Beach takes less than twenty minutes to reach in the car as well. Alternatively, you could use the large lawn at the front of the home for a friendly game of croquet or cricket. Inside, you’ll be blown away by the high ceilings, snug drawing rooms and period-inspired furnishings that will bring a touch of elegance to your holiday. However, there are so many ways to let loose here. The conservatory, for example, has a billiards table, disco ball and sound system, and there's also table tennis that can be set up in the rear hall or courtyard. On sunny days, the patio with its barbecue and alfresco dining area will naturally be the place to be, but there's also the option to slip away from the crowds for a dip in the outdoor hot tub, complete with candles and LED lighting.

Just over a mile from the village of Stithians, down by the River Kennall, this stone cottage is set in the 7-acre land surrounding an old farmhouse. But despite its incredibly rural setting, staying here is far from the rustic experience you might expect. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Upon arrival, your host will warmly welcome you with a hamper full of luxury Cornish fare and home-baked goods to start your holiday right. While you nibble and sip, you can start exploring the cosy home. Fluffy rugs, plush sofas, and wooden floors create a sense of warmth and softness in the living space, but floor-to-ceiling windows bring the outside in. And the great outdoors are particularly great in this case. Under the wooden decking, get ready to pop champagne and soak in the hot tub. Or perhaps you’d rather recline on the outdoor sofas by the wood-burner, have a barbecue, or play a few rounds of table tennis? As you’re just a fifteen-minute drive to Gyllyngvase Beach in Falmouth, you’ll also need to pack a picnic one day and head for the shore (don’t forget to grab the beach towels that your host kindly provides).

Each of the four bedrooms have been impeccably decorated with a premium touch, but we think you’ll all be fighting over the master. This room’s enormous circular window, directly overlooking the water, is the crowning jewel of the home and means you can appreciate the far-reaching view without even getting out of bed.

You can reach Porthowan's sandy shores in less than ten minutes on foot, stopping to pick up some fish and chips en route. Further along the Cornish coastline, there are plenty of hidden coves and cliffside villages to explore – just hop in the car and go where the wind (or sea) takes you.

Just a few metres from the sandy shores of Praa Sands Beach, this dreamy house nestled between Penzance and Helston offers beachside beauty from the moment you arrive. 

Take in uninterrupted views of the bay from the large private garden boasting sun loungers, an alfresco dining and lounge area and an abundance of open lawn space. But, of course, the cherry on the cake is the hot tub – perfectly positioned for taking in the sunset at the end of a fun-filled day catching the surf or soaking up other beachside activities. 

Rest and restore your energy with chill-out sessions in the plush living area with a good book in hand. From here, you can hear the sound of the waves breaking on the beach. Heaven.

Occupying an enviable spot overlooking St Ives Bay, this apartment is in prime position for long walks along the coast and relaxed afternoons on the soft white sands of Porthminster Beach, just six minutes from your doorstep. The interiors are muted with blues and greys in the living space and lots of crisp white in the bedrooms. After a restful slumber, make yourself comfortable on the plump sofa and watch the waves roll in through the floor-to-ceiling bay window. 

On warm afternoons, take the five-minute walk into the heart of St Ives for a fantastic selection of independent shops, cafes, ice cream parlours and restaurants. Admire modern British art in the Tate Gallery, ten minutes away, before enjoying a portion of fish and chips by the harbour. When the day draws to a close, head back home to watch the sky turn violet above the turquoise sea.

This home, located on a quiet residential street above Carbis Bay’s Parthrepta Beach, is the perfect base from which solo travellers, couples or small families can explore the coastal towns and beaches of St Ives Bay including Carbis Bay, which is just a fifteen-minute walk from your door. The annexe offers a small gravel courtyard at the back of the home which is ideal for sun-soaked mornings enjoying a leisurely breakfast alfresco, or an afternoon tea with fresh Cornish cream, jam and scones. 

Wander Carbis Bay’s crescent of white sands and turquoise waters or go on a water adventure and grab a paddleboard or kayak from the beach-based surf school. For beautiful walks, we can highly recommend the coast path from here to St Ives, which showcases spectacular views over the bay, and the 1.9km walk has a gentle ascent meaning the whole family can enjoy the scenery and bracing sea air. Or, if that sounds like too much for you, the single-track railway of the St Erth line follows that same path along the coast offering passengers an incredible vantage point to see all of St Ives Bay and beyond.  

After a busy day, the home’s open-plan living space will provide you with a comfortable sofa to unwind from your beach days, while the dining area beckons you to share meals and discuss your plans for the following day over a delicious dinner.

The hardest choice at this cosy home is deciding whether to stay and enjoy sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean from the attic room or to head out to explore the glorious Cornish coastline that sits mere metres away. Add in the private walled terrace complete with alfresco seating and a barbecue, as well as the living room arranged around a wood-burning stove, and the decision gets even harder. 

As you can probably guess by now, this address is ideal for relaxation and the neutral decor throughout reflects that. However, there are enough quirky design touches to stop it from feeling too bland — we like the driftwood-style artwork and coffee table especially. 

When the desire to get closer to the sea gets too much, five minutes' walk will get you to Porthleven Harbour, where you’ll find plenty of arts and crafts shops, cafes, restaurants and galleries. Two minutes in the other direction will see you reach the beach and the cliffs behind.

Occupying an enviable spot in the centre of St Ives, this cosy cottage puts you within walking distance of superb seafood restaurants, wide beaches of soft white sand, a thriving art scene and an array of independent boutiques. Once a fisherman’s cottage, this cute Porthleven bolthole dates back to 1880. You can picture the relief on the weather-worn fisherman’s face, returning to this cosy abode with a fire crackling in the stove (it’s electric now) and stargazy pie steaming away on the farmhouse-style table in the kitchen. Your days in Porthleven don’t have to be so hard, meandering down to the harbourfront in just a few minutes where boats still land the fresh catch of the day, supplying a glut of independent restaurants. There’s a soft-sand beach here too, for days on the surfboard.

Speaking of which, if you want to hang your wetsuit out to dry and store your board, there’s a private backyard just for this. Inside, we love the exposed stone walls still on display – a nod to the home’s history. Sinking into one of the sofas is a delight after a day on a surfboard or walking the South West Coastal Path. Then there are the bedrooms with cushioned piled high on the beds – the epitome of cosiness.

The beaches and rock pools unveiled at low tide are great for the young ones on summer or winter days, while coastal walking options are endless and range from leisurely strolls to challenging half-day hikes. At home, warm your feet by the fire in the cosy living room, enjoy alfresco dining in the enclosed garden and host games sessions well into the night before sleeping soundly in the tranquil bedrooms. If you get the urge to explore further afield, you won't have to travel far before reaching stunning St Ives. Here, you'll join surfers, creatives and food-lovers in this bohemian enclave along Cornwall's rugged north coast that's well worth a visit.

Children and parents alike will enjoy the walled garden and homely interior, tastefully furnished to create a down-to-earth yet premium ambience.

The village setting is quintessentially Cornish, with the beach just five minutes down the road and lovely local pubs and cafes within easy reach (your closest is right around the corner). For travels further afield, guests can explore English heritage sites and well-preserved National Trust houses and gardens – we'd recommend bringing a car to easily tick the off the list. The local coastline provides excellent surf and beautiful hiking trails, adored by local lovers of the outdoors. 

Ye Olde Church House

From its stunning coastline beaches to art galleries and critically esteemed restaurants, St Ives is one of Cornwall's most famous and utterly beautiful villages – and this home offers a well-appointed tiered garden to take it all in from. Just a five-minute walk to the centre of town and a seven-minute stroll from Carbis Bay, the house is perfectly placed for exploring the delights of this sought-after seaside postcode. Back home, the outside space is the real star of the show with a comfortably furnished summerhouse filled with tasteful artwork and nautical adornments. We can think of nothing better than watching the sunset over Godrevy and beyond from here. In warmer months, take to the flower-bedded terrace for alfresco dining and ocean views or find a quiet enclosed patio for a relaxing read in the sun. Stepping inside, you'll find a well-presented interior with light wooden flooring, ornamental fireplaces and exposed brickwork. We also found there to be an industrial-chic styling around the home – from the cooper framed bed in the master bedroom to the low-hanging lampshades over the dining table. There is of course a freestanding bathtub for relaxing soaks after wandering the Cornish coast as well as an abundance of light and airy living space to sprawl out and unwind. There's a traditional country-house kitchen with all the basic appliances for cooking hearty meals, although we'd be tempted to wander into town for a spot of locally sourced and adored fish and chips.

Recently renovated to the highest of standards in 2021, this architectural masterpiece is a picture of solid slatted wood, glass and white stone. The home is set within a sought-after postcode, only ten minutes (on foot) from the stunning Carbis Bay Beach – it's well worth a visit here – we couldn't believe we were still in the UK with its glorious stretch of sand and turquoise waters. Back inside, the living space is as light and airy as possible with high-vaulted ceilings, crittall windows and an abundance of skylights overhead. We adored the sleek three-oven island kitchen, benefitting from navy blue cabinets, chic chandeliers, dramatic spotlighting and a sociable breakfast bar to sit down and enjoy your morning avos on toast. You'll notice the crushed velvet dining chairs and sofa that only adds further to this home's impressive level of luxury and comfort. On top of all of that, there's the ease of having four bedrooms accompanied by four swanky en-suite bathrooms and a delightful garden  – complete with comfy outdoor seating for all eight guests, a paved veranda dining area and a cool-chill out spot to drink your alfresco wine. Inside and out, this spot presents Cornwall in spectacular fashion.

Embrace the cosy life with a stay at this wonderful cottage in the Cornish countryside. Just a short drive away from the coast, it's a wonderful place to press pause and spend some quality time with your loved ones. 

The interior combines classic British style with a Scandinavian twist – think traditional touches with a cool, contemporary colour palette. You'll love flopping down on the sofa and getting toasty beside the fire on wintery evenings. If you need some extra peace and quiet, head for the bathroom where you can fill the tub and enjoy an indulgent soak. And, when it comes to family dinners, you can either gather in the cosy dining room, or head out to the patio for an alfresco feast in the sunshine.

The charming fishing village of Porthleven is just a short car ride away, where you can watch the boats bobbing in the harbour over a pint at the local pub. And, fans of the beach are truly spoilt – explore the rugged coastline to discover hidden coves and long, sandy beaches with crystal clear water.
