This holiday home just south of Bude is a great spot to spend some quality time with the whole family. It’s only a short walk to the beach, where you can take surf lessons or go for a hike with your four-legged friend along the Atlantic coast. The house has got three ensuite bedrooms and a large family bathroom, but it’s the garden with the sea view that we like best. There are a small local shop and pub nearby and the town of Bude is but a short drive away.

A fourteen-minute drive from the striking shores of the Hartland Heritage Coast, this rural escape really puts the ‘treat’ in retreat. It’s impossible not to be charmed by this wooden roundhouse in East Thorne. Its cylindrical design and delightful gardens bring a magical vibe that's sure to start off your holiday with a smile. Step inside to find a gorgeous wood-beamed ceiling and wood-burning stove in the main living space. While this hearth is the perfect setting for cosying up together on chilly evenings, there are even more activities for sunny days. Your private, outdoor area is spectacular – play games on the lawn, savour alfresco lunches on the picnic bench, grill up dinner on the barbecue, set up a campfire, and (best of all) soak in the hot tub under the stars all night.  We think a glass of champagne wouldn’t go amiss in this luxury setting. Set just outside the surfing hotspot of Bude, this wooden roundhouse offers the excitement of camping with all the creature comforts of home. Spend sun-kissed summer afternoons tucking into relaxed lunches on the picnic bench and treating yourself to dips in the hot tub, equipped with a metal privacy screen so you can soak in peace.

Inside, the unique roundhouse design comes to the fore, with a well-equipped kitchen gently curving around the wall, a rustic round dining table, and a double bed set beneath a shining porthole skylight. Elsewhere, the roundhouse is equipped with one further bedroom and a sleek bathroom with a vast walk-in shower.

The site is equipped with a converted horse trailer turned coffee shop so you can dose up on caffeine as the kids help with feeding the farm animals. Your hosts are blessed with over a decade's worth of local knowledge and are more than happy to share their favourite local haunts with guests, so whether you're after a local butcher to stock up for a barbecue, a bougie brunch spot, or a great local pub, they've got you covered.

Escape to the country and hunker down in this beautifully restored old English farmhouse tucked away in the Cornish countryside. Heading down the quiet lane, the Atlantic blue springs into view across the rolling fields as you pull into the driveway. The beaches, bars and bistros of Bude are only a ten-minute drive away, but this home is a real retreat.

Parts of the property date back to the sixteenth century, and although it’s been lovingly restored, the traditional charm still shines through in the wood burners, range oven and exposed beams. It’s calm and cosy, with plenty of space for everyone to spread out and find a quiet corner of their own. 

While the kids let off steam in the large shared gardens, enjoy breakfast to the sound of birdsong in the sun-trap courtyard. Curl up with a book on a window seat with sea views, or pile into the car for a family day out to Sandymouth Beach. A modern kitchen and communal pizza oven make it a great option for budding chefs planning to roll up their sleeves and rustle up delicious meals to be enjoyed alfresco on the picnic table. Whether you're inside or out this spot offers space for a bit of rest and relaxation away from all the fuss back home. And when you're feeling exploratory, discover the South West Coast Path and its stunning scenery, only a thirty-minute drive away – just remember to pack your walking boots for when you arrive.

Part of an old farmhouse that's been braving the Cornish weather for over seven hundred years. Sitting outside in the morning sun of the east-facing courtyard makes you appreciate the old rugged stone façade, especially compared to the sleek and cosy interior. You'll get a whole wing to yourself, complete with two dining spots outdoors and comfortable loungers in the garden. In the colder months, you'll be spending more time in the sitting room, surrounded by books and a large flat-screen TV with Technics cinema sound for an immersive experience. For a bit more peace and quiet, escape to the reading room which has even more books available, or relax in the pleasantly quiet bedroom. From here, the French doors open up to a cosy spot for two where you can admire the sunrise and plan your day. The nearest wild beach is well within walking distance, but the headline attraction is up the road in Bude. If you're up for some sightseeing, take the car down to Tintagel to see the ruins of King Arthur's mythical castle.

Clotted Cream is a picture-perfect Cornish cottage in a dramatic location, with high cliffs and rolling countryside. It's a romantic place, and you feel the sense of history when you enter the grounds (it dates back to the 1600s). You’re isolated, of course, but that feeling of being away from it all is precious. There’s something magical about watching the cows graze through your living room window. The furniture is simple but delightful, and when the weather turns, the stoves ensure that the cottage gets very cosy very quickly.

If you’re searching for a Cornish coastal holiday, it’s time to stop scrolling. You’ll find this homely bungalow nestled in the village of Higher Crackington and as the glimpses of sea view suggest, you’re not far away from the coast here. There’s a modern, well-equipped kitchen if your nominated cook fancies testing out their culinary skills, but if not, head the short distance to Crackington Haven where you’ll find a beach, bistro cafe and family pub serving delicious dishes using locally sourced produce.

Whether you're planning a peaceful break or an adventurous trip, this home is a great place to call home during your time in Cornwall. With plenty of space both inside and out, it's a charming spot surrounded by rolling countryside. 

Step inside, and you'll find a cosy space cloaked in warm tones and natural wood. This is one for the ramblers and the folk that love the great outdoors. The former barn has been turned into a country bolthole in the rolling landscape of Cornwall. Lace up your hiking boots and hit the South West Coastal Trail at Crackington Haven, a twelve-minute drive away. This stretch of coastline is home to secret sandy bays and stunning sea views from the tops of cliffs. 

From the windows inside, you’ve got a view of the verdant green fields and tumbling hills that make up this peaceful area. The old walls of the barn are on display in patches of exposed stonework amidst the otherwise pristine white walls. In the open-plan kitchen, dining and living room, the L-shaped sofa creates a snuggly nook for cosy evenings in. Should the weather stay fine, there’s a flower-filled private garden with a barbecue and patio dining to make the most of the Cornish sun.

Fancy a romantic getaway with a twist? This upside-down home places a firelit living area above the bedroom, where the en-suite bathtub enjoys a framed view of the creek. Upstairs, we think the waterside terrace might inspire a paddle to Salcombe – made easy by the three-seater kayak your host provides. It's worth noting that there is a bit of a hike to the front door here (thirty-six steps, to be precise), so this home won't be the best option for everyone.

This is a barn conversion in which the standard of the renovation has been of such quality that it's nigh-on impossible to picture its functional past. Set in twenty-six acres of Devon countryside, the building has been given some hi-tech features, including a ground-source heating system and an intelligent lighting system, as well as a lot of large glass windows that make the space a lot brighter than could be expected of an old barn. Our favourite space has to be the mezzanine lounge, reached via a glass spiral staircase and with a skylight on one side that's perfect for stargazing. The large kitchen looks the picture of modernity, but there's an Aga in place for a touch of rusticness. Stepping outside, there's a large patio area complete with an alfresco dining table, barbecue and fire pit, so you can sit out here on summer evenings and bask in the spectacular view of Longcombe Valley. The medieval town of Totnes can be reached in seven minutes in the car and offers plenty of quaint shops and restaurants to explore. Paignton Beach is a seventeen-minute drive away, too.

This fantastic Victorian villa in the English Riviera is the perfect home for family holidays. Located in Paignton, this home is only a short walk from many great activities including Paignton Beach – a nineteen-minute walk away – where you will find the pier, the Geopark, a fairy cove, pirates bay adventure golf, and even a multiplex cinema perfect for those typical rainy British days. What’s more, Splashdown water park is a short nine-minute walk away and Torbay Leisure Centre – with its pool, gym and squash courts – is reachable in twelve minutes on foot.

Your little ones will love letting off steam in the home’s large, enclosed garden too, with the kid's swing, trampoline, treehouse, football goal and pirate boat. Meanwhile, you can relax on the garden bench with a good book or enjoy an afternoon Devonshire cream tea alfresco at the outdoor dining area. 

When it’s time to come indoors, head from the decked veranda through the French doors into the living space. Curl up on the sofa to watch a family film and even make it cosier with the wood-burning stove, which can be lit for additional warmth or roasting marshmallows. Your little ones hopefully won’t object to bedtime with the twin rooms one of which is Star Wars-themed and the other which features a dollhouse mounted on the wall and a whimsical fairy wall hanging to decorate. We can’t promise they’ll want to stop playing and go to sleep though.

This cosy bungalow on Cornwall's northern coast is the perfect base for exploring as much or as little of this remarkable region as you please. Beautiful beaches, dramatic cliffs and stunning sunsets all await you in this charming county. Idyllic locations such as Padstow and St Ives can be reached in less than an hour, and the famed Eden Project is just a forty-five minute drive away.
 
On the other hand, Holywell Bay has one of the most beautiful beaches in the county. You’ll be pleased to know it's only a five-minute walk from your door, where alongside stunning scenery, you’ll find a gorgeous coastal path, and a handful of charming beachside cafes and eateries. Refuel on local produce at the Gull Rocks Bar & Coffee House at the beach’s entrance after an afternoon spent splashing about, and take in the stunning vistas afforded by its prime location. The Treguth Inn, hailing back to the thirteenth century also awaits just five minutes away, while several more traditional pubs and desirable restaurants can be found within a fifteen-minute drive. The choice is all yours. 

A short twenty-minute drive away is the Gannel Estuary, which separates neighbouring Crantock village from Newquay. Have a go at canoeing in the estuary, or try your hand at paddle-boarding over in Crantock. Spread out over three floors and glowing from top-to-toe in crisp white, this family retreat is a joy to return home to. Vintage memorabilia posters and zesty pops of colour perk the space up a treat, while period features and antique pieces bring all the character and charm.

Over in the first of two living rooms, butter-soft sofas placed beside the fire are more than inviting. As is the Gatsby-esque 1920's mini bar in the grown-up feel sitting room next door – playfully known as the Cocktail Room by the owners. And the shaker-style kitchen makes cooking and entertaining a joy – especially with it's handy opening out to the sitting room so that you can keep an eye on the rest of your troops.

When it's time for some coastal adventures, take a stroll down the hill towards Dartmouth's historic maritime centre (five-minute walk – a little longer when you're coming back up!), stopping at its smart shops, galleries, and boutique bistros along the way. Or for a dose of traditional seaside nostalgia, grab your nets and buckets for crabbing on the embankment before fish and chips down at the harbour's quayside – the views of the bobbing boats are delightful. And when the beach finally calls, hop in the car and you'll be on the glorious sheltered bay of Blackpool Sands in five minutes flat.
