Set across five floors united by elegant interiors, there’s room for all twelve of you to make yourselves at home here. Climb the stairs to discover six bedrooms and five bathrooms, each as beautiful as the next. And with every bedroom but one boasting king-sized beds clad in crisp snow-white linens, there’s no need to tussle for the best room here.

Back downstairs, you can fling the double patio doors open wide on summer mornings to savour your morning coffee in the sunshine before whipping up brunch and mimosas in that made-for-action shaker-style kitchen with double ovens to flex your culinary skills. But if the weather doesn't buck up, the first-floor sitting room is just as inviting curled up with the morning newspapers.

When it’s finally time to soak up the charms of Whitby, you won’t have far to go – all the must-sees are within walking distance. Get off to a flying start with a visit to the Abbey Ruins – set high on the hill with magnificent views of the town, there’s no better way to get your bearings. Then lose yourself to the charming winding streets of its centre – there’s plenty of traditional inns and cafes to dive into should thoughts turn to food. Or follow the little River Esk down to the beach for fish and chips suppers overlooking the sea – there’s no finer place to be.

Seashells by the Seashore

Spend dewy mornings perched in the window seat overlooking the leafy garden with a coffee in hand. With modern home furnishings and characterful original features, this apartment in Durham offers a peaceful escape from the woes of your daily grind. Whip up comforting homemade meals in the kitchen before curling up around the living room's seating area for group games nights or some chillout time in front of the TV. 

Situated in a historic building, the space brings warmth and homeliness to rainy days and chilly months. Meanwhile, the home's surrounding nature, luscious green landscapes and town centre conveniences set the scene for a peaceful retreat. You'll find Durham's town centre a short ten-minute walk away – packed with beautiful charm, the city's Medieval heritage, cobbled streets and independent bars, pubs and restaurants await with open arms.


Dewy Mornings 

Modern, stylish and in the heart of charming Whitby, this home ticks all the boxes for a memorable stay on the North Yorkshire coast. Honeycomb print livens up licks of trendy grey and we particularly loved the subtle nods to Whitby’s history and maritime identity in the living space and bedroom. A dining table with zesty yellow chairs takes centre stage – come together for a home-cooked breakfast and hot cups of tea before throwing on your sun hat and heading to the seaside. You’re a ten-minute walk from the beach – fifteen if you stop for an ice cream. Cross the River Esk and climb the 199 steps to reach the famous Abbey. With all of that exploring, you’ll have worked up quite an appetite, so pick up a fish supper from an award-winning chip shop and enjoy overlooking the harbour. 

Beehive Cottage

Located in the hamlet of Pinchinthorpe – right on the edge of the North York Moors National Park – this welcoming cottage offers breathtaking landscapes on its doorstep, as well as a comfortable base to call home. 
 
Snuggle up on the living room’s sofas with a mug of tea and a good book while the fireplace casts its warm glow, or open up the double doors here to let the breeze flow through on balmy days. Step through the doors and onto the patio to enjoy your morning coffee in the fresh air – you may even spot the alpacas roaming in the neighbouring field – or fire up the barbecue for an alfresco feast.
 
The kitchen beckons hearty homecooked meals to be enjoyed around its sociable breakfast bar, while the two bedrooms – elegantly pared-back – promise a dreamy night’s sleep in their cosy beds. 
 
When it comes to exploring the local area, drive five minutes to visit the market town of Guisborough where you’ll find charming shops, local pubs and the 12th-century Gisborough Priory, or choose one of the many walking trails fanning out around you into the North York Moors. The Guisborough Branch Walkaway is less than a five-minute stroll from your door where you’ll find a trio of hiking trails, a cycling track, orienteering and a play area, and should you fancy a day by the sea, Saltburn-by-the-Sea is just a fifteen-minute drive away. 


Heathcliff, It's Me

The Victorian spa town of Saltburn-by-the-Sea makes for an excellent seaside escape. It’s a real coastal retreat, surrounded by charming seaside towns and villages – you can use Saltburn as your base for exploring the area. 

This charming apartment is ideal for romantic getaways, and equally well suited to solo stays by the sea. We love the traditional beams and cosy, homey vibe. You’ll feel at home the instant you arrive at this stylish abode. Best of all, the apartment boasts sea views. Wake up each morning to see the sea rushing ashore. Step out onto the balcony to sip your morning coffee, and breathe in the sea air. The blue-tiled kitchen is a lovely spot for your meals, whether you’ve whipped up a cooked breakfast or are unwrapping fish and chips for your evening meal. 

It’s just a short walk down to the beach, where you can build sandcastles, skim stones, or even try out the surf. Saltburn is also home to the UK’s oldest functioning cliff lift – enjoy the ride down to the promenade. Later on, stroll along the 208-metre-long pier with an ice cream – we do love to be beside the sea. 


Beach Blues

Nestled in Northumberland's medieval market town of Alnwick, surrounded by country fields, traditional pubs and independent shops, this classic cottage is the perfect cosy retreat for two or a small family. Boasting a decked patio, begin the day by sipping your coffee in the crisp morning air, before heading out to explore.

Beyond the charming stone facade, you’ll find a homey living room where comfortable furnishings, soft tones and a wood-burning fireplace keeps things warm and inviting. Plenty of natural light pours in throughout the home, including the dining room. The kitchen continues the cottage feel with its sage green colour palette and cream cupboards. And lastly, the bedrooms are cosy havens, so you'll relish returning home from a busy day spent discovering the local area for a restful night's sleep.

Heart of Stone

Once you've wandered about this home nestled away in the North Yorkshire countryside for the first time, it probably won't come as a surprise to learn that it was once a hotel. The vast size of the building and its grounds partially give the game away, but there's also something about how the communal areas are arranged, especially the pool table and bar that make it an especially sociable space.

You'll also get a sense of the home's heritage pretty quickly as well. Located on a farm that dates back to the 18th century, there's a strong rustic charm throughout the interior, from the wooden ceiling beams and stone archways to the open fireplace that's wonderful to retire next to after a long bout in the great outdoors. 

Speaking of which, there's a whole host of amenities on the grounds for when the forecast is being kind to you. As well as a large lawn and lots of equipment for playing games, there's plenty of seating for alfresco feasts, as well as a hot tub that's an idyllic spot for a nightcap, especially once the stars are out in the sky.

In the local area, there's a wealth of attractions to be discovered, from the Victorian spa town of Saltburn-by-the-Sea just two-and-a-half miles away to the Cleveland Way National Trail, which can be reached on foot and rewards those that follow the path with views of the dramatic coastal landscape.

No Warmer Welcome

Located right in the heart of Tynemouth, this apartment is in a fab spot. The colourful rooms and comfortable furnishings offer a warm welcome after a bracing beach walk. And the kitchen is handy if you want to cook at home (be sure not to miss seaside fish and chips too). The living area might be a tad cosy if seven of you are staying, and there are a fair few stairs both inside and out. But it’s a great base for exploring the Northumberland coast or visiting Newcastle.

Lighthouse Lodge

Seven minutes by car from Durham city centre, this former rectory plays host to a most luxurious home that feels a world away from urban life. In the rolling fields of County Durham lies a village called Witton Gilbert. At its heart, you’ll find local pubs, shops, and a bowling green, but a five-minute walk will take you up to your vast manor. Enter through majestic,  wrought-iron gates, up your private drive, to the bright blue front door – a cheery invitation to welcome you inside. With modern, velvet furniture in the living space illuminated by enormous bay windows, the gold detailing truly shimmers in the afternoon sun. Pad across the plush carpet to the flagstone floors of the kitchen, where you can rustle up a wholesome Sunday roast on the bottle-green Aga. The dining space has ample room for the whole family, with a rustic table made from huge planks of wood, for a nod to country living. On a balmy summer evening, you might even want to trade the dining table for a picnic on the lawn, followed by a game of tennis on your private court (and a gin and tonic after sunset).

The Ecclesiastic

Set within the North York Moors National Park, the village of Osmotherley is a quaint resting spot for hikers and history fans. As this fantastic home is located just a four-minute drive from the Mount Grace Priory House and Gardens, you might fancy spending the day roaming the ruins of a medieval monastery. Or with hills to the north and south, you can amble to your heart’s content. Either way, this magnificent house will be ideal to come home to after exploring the beauty of Yorkshire.

Although it’s set over three fabulous floors, the entrance is truly the heart of the home. Modern, elegant, and opulent, the decor makes use of natural elements like wood and stone, with a muted colour palette. You’ll love stepping into the open-plan kitchen, where a huge skylight allows soft sunlight to beam down while you enjoy a hearty brunch. Or in the evening, you might find yourself by the log-burning stove in the formal dining space, sipping red wine alongside a Sunday roast. Afterwards, head up to the top floor, where you can admire the original architecture of chunky timber beams in the eaves of this grand country home.

Osmund's Firewood

This cosy house is perfect for family breaks to the seaside. It stands on the edge of East Cliff, just a ten-minute walk from Whitby’s town centre and its narrow medieval streets lined with pubs, shops and comfy cafes. You can walk easily to the west side of town, where you’ll find the Blue Flag West Cliff Beach and its brightly coloured beach huts. Add in the wonderful Whitby Abbey and its rich history, and you’ll never be short of things to see and do here. 

The house itself is warm and welcoming, with heaps of space. It’s an excellent choice for a big group of friends or a couple of families travelling together, as there’s plenty of room for everyone. We love the balcony that opens out from the living room – it boasts gorgeous views of Whitby and its harbour, and is the perfect spot for a morning cuppa. Later on in the day, you might pick up takeaway fish and chips to unwrap on one of the picnic tables on the terrace. It’s a lovely way to round off a day at the seaside. 


Boats in the Harbour

This smart apartment, located just a few metres away from the shoreline, is the perfect place to call home during a trip to the charming town of Whitby. With plenty of space, stylish decor, and fantastic sea views, you'll settle in in no time at all. 

Step inside, and you'll find a sleek, open-plan set-up cloaked in soothing blues and greys. Fire up the Nespresso machine to make a fresh americano, then curl up in one of the powder blue armchairs as you watch the world go by outside. The kitchen has everything you need to cook up a delicious traditional roast dinner to serve up at the stylish dining bench, while the peaceful bedrooms guarantee you a great night's sleep. 

Cross the road and you'll arrive at Whitby’s West Cliff beach, a blue-flag beach where you can paddle or stroll along the sand, ice cream in hand. There are plenty of nearby seafood restaurants where you can savour the fresh catch of the day, along with independent boutiques and cosy pubs dotted along the cobbled streets. Don't forget to walk up the 199 steps, made famous by Bram Stoker's 'Dracula', to visit the iconic ruined cathedral. And, if you fancy exploring the gorgeous local countryside, then the North York Moors National Park is just outside the town.
