Feel right at home within its warm, welcoming, and distinctly cosy, colourful interior – be it by enjoying a homecooked meal at the inviting dining table or lounging in the comfortable living area and getting stuck into the range of entertainment options. Of course, there's always that lovely terrace area on which to enjoy a morning cup of coffee or while away a couple of sunny afternoon hours with a good book or great company.

Make the most of the apartment's privileged location to discover the many highlights of beautiful Buxton and the spectacular surrounding countryside. Meander through the historic streets of this old market town, perusing the local shops before stopping at bustling cafes to refuel. The Old Post Office Pad

Built in 1809 and renovated in 2020, grade II-listed King Of The Vale brings together old and new for a wonderful experience in the Peak District. The striking Georgian cottage features beamed ceilings, traditional shutters, sash windows, wood-burning stoves and an impressive garden, all while providing guests with twenty-first-century comforts and design. Prepare wonderful meals in the fully equipped kitchen, then enjoy your creations al fresco or in the modern dining room. With four bedrooms, up to eight guests are welcome to enjoy the home's cosy interiors and excellent position in the charming village of Rowsley. From here, it's easy to visit all corners of the famous Peak District.

King Of The Vale

This awesome one-bedroom home in the heart of the popular Peak District town of Matlock is the perfect couple’s retreat. Recently refurbished, this awesome apartment features a lovely, light filled open plan kitchen cum dining and living room – all whitewashed walls adorned with locally inspired artwork, wooden floors and a bookshelves full of books.

You’ll love taking your morning coffee back to bed before treating your loved one to a fry up while making a plan for the day. Cosy up on the sofa with a book before dining à deux and settling in for movie night. It goes without saying, though, that you’ll also want to make the most of your marvellous Matlock location, only a two-minute walk from the town centre, and a mere 70 yards from the River Derwent. Situated in this former spa town surrounded by spectacular hills and limestone cliffs, you’ll easily able to explore a whole host of Derbyshire delights – with everything from the Peak District National Park to characterful Chatsworth House practically on your doorstep.

Whether you fancy, walking, caving, canoeing or even a visit to the Peak District Lead Mining Museum there’s something for everyone here. Alternatively, head just a little over a mile downriver to the picturesque spa town of Matlock Bath, where you’ll be able to take a cable car up to Heights of Abraham for breath-taking views of the Derwent valley and surrounding dales. 


Dales Delight

This charming stone cottage in the Derbyshire countryside is perfect for any season. Like most cottages, it's compact but cosy. There's a wood-burning stove and underfloor heating to keep you warm on colder nights, and a dining table on the patio for alfresco meals on warmer days – you can also enjoy views of the Peak District and the 15th-century ruins of Wingfield Manor here. It's a short walk to the village pub and shop from your front door, while must-sees like Crich Tramway Village, Chatsworth House, and the hiking trails of the Peak District are a short drive away.  

Rural Dawn

This cosy sandstone cottage can be found in the Chatsworth Estate village of Beeley. Its location is the star of the show, as you can enjoy views of the Chatsworth Estate from the private garden, and head out on lovely walks right from the doorstep. The village pub is a two-minute walk – perfect for a pre-dinner pint. You’re also within easy reach of Bakewell and Matlock. There’s a wood burner in the original stone fireplace, and plenty of charm to boot. 

The Barn Owl's Home

This quirky flat in Sheffield has urban cool written all over it. Lush greens, bold oranges, leafy plants and bamboo accents give the place a natural, bohemian flair. We think it's as cosy as it is stylish, making it an excellent base to come home to after a busy day. The private balcony is the icing on the cake – it's the perfect spot to sip morning coffees and evening cocktails as the sun goes down. Everything you need for a relaxed stay is taken care of – there are two stylish bathrooms so nobody needs to wait in line, Netflix on the smart TV if you want to chill at home and a desk if you need to do a bit of work. Cooking is anything but a chore in the sleek kitchen, which has plenty of dinnerware for when you're in the mood to rustle up a meal. Java junkies will also be pleased to see both a Nespresso machine and a cafetiere. Best of all, the location is pretty much perfect. Set in vibrant Kelham Island, there's a wealth of independent eateries, bars, music venues and pubs within walking distance. Plus, the city centre is just a twenty-minute stroll away – trust us, you'll never be short on things to do here.

Are You Mine

For incredible views across countryside hills and fields, it doesn’t much better than this. This stone brick cottage sits beside the idyllic Matlock Hills, just a stone’s throw from the Peak District National Park. It’s a wonderful choice for those looking for a romantic retreat or adventurous getaway, with a happy mix of hiking trails and quaint villages in the area. 

Inside, the cottage is the epitome of country chic, with contemporary appliances meeting classic features. The kitchen is the heart of it all – you’ll love preparing breakfasts in this wholesome setting, with the kitchen’s electric fireplace cutting through the early cold. Take your morning coffee out to your courtyard for a refreshing start to the day, or hurry back inside to be hugged by the warmth. 

Rich tones add to the luxurious feel, from the distinguished bedrooms to the warm living room – nothing says cosy getaway like sinking into the sofa, warmed up by the log-burning fireplace, with the far-stretching landscape coming into view.

To really make the most of that view, a sundowner or two on the front porch is a must. The west-facing bistro table is the perfect space to catch sunset, followed by nibbles, a few more wines, and stargazing in the back courtyard. 

Your cottage’s location of Hackney means you’re in a great position to explore Derbyshire and the Peak District. Take the thirty-minute stroll through the picturesque setting (or a five-minute drive) to reach Matlock, a quintessential English boating village full of arcades, traditional ice cream shops, and chip shops. 

Ode to the Hills

Situated within a Peak District estate, this 16th-century hunting tower was built for Bess of Hardwick, the ancestress of the Duke of Devonshire. This four-storey tower isn’t suitable for young children or guests with limited mobility – you’ll need to ascend the steep and winding staircase to reach all areas of this abode. Expect traditional features, with an AGA for cooking family favourites after a day exploring Chatsworth House. You’ll find a health club on the estate too, so speak to your host to arrange a spa session. After a few tennis games on the communal courts, unwind with a glass of red in the cosy sitting room. For local hikes, Curbar Edge and Froggatt Edge are a​​ fifteen-minute drive away.  

To the Tower

Surrounded by the wild natural beauty of the Peak District National Park, this idyllic cottage is the perfect getaway to relax and explore this majestic part of the English countryside. Located just outside the village of Birchover (a twenty-minute drive from Matlock), you’ll have all the peace and quiet you need to truly rest and unwind. Dating back to the 1700s, the cottage was originally built as a two-storey barn for the main house which your host Rachael’s parents bought as a ruin in the 1960s. Recently restored, you can tell how much love and care has been put into this stunning space that blends beautiful modern comforts with characterful original details to create an unforgettable home. From the underfloor heating to the wood-burning stove, romantic roll-top tub and sweeping views of the Peak District fields and valleys, there’s a storybook warmth and cosiness here that instantly makes you feel welcome. With two outdoor terraces, you can enjoy your breakfast alfresco while the horses roam around you, or fire up the barbecue for a dinner under the stars. Factor in the DVDs, books and board games on hand and there’s plenty to keep you entertained on rainy days – but with so much nature to explore, we recommend grabbing your wellies and venturing out into the great outdoors. Walk around your home to discover the secret walking trails through the woods and ask your host to show you the megalithic Rocking Stone nearby. Visit Robin Hood’s Stride (eleven minutes by car or an hour’s walk), take a dip in the swimming hole at Youlgreave (an eight-minute drive) and spend an afternoon at stately Chatsworth House, fifteen minutes away by car. 


The Rocking Stone

A cosy getaway for two, this charming cottage is packed with character and has idyllic views of the Peak District to match. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking – imagine lush green fields, grazing cattle and tree-dotted hills, all spread out before you – and the best place to admire the rolling countryside is the garden. Sharing a bottle of wine as the sun goes down will become your evening ritual – with views like that, it'll be hard to tear yourself away. There's also an excellent outlook from the bedroom, which you'll wake up to daily.

Make yourself comfortable on the squishy sofa following a long day wandering the Peaks and snuggle up for a movie night – you can sign in to your Netflix, Prime and Disney+ accounts, so there are plenty of films to choose from. When you grow peckish, the kitchen is well-stocked and well-suited to rustling up delicious meals, but if you don't fancy cooking, Foolow's village pub is only a twelve-minute stroll away and serves excellent food and refreshing local ales.

And speaking of exploring, there's a network of public footpaths on your doorstep – simply lace up your walking shoes, head out the front door and the Peak District is yours to ramble and roam. Also close by is Bakewell, home to an array of shops, restaurants and a weekly Monday market – it’s just fifteen minutes by car.

Summer Dusk, Autumn Dawn

With 9 acres of sprawling, green gardens at your disposal, this home right on the edge of the famous Peak District offers respite and restoration. Architecturally designed, the fact that it’s rounder than your average house not only makes this place unique, but it offers incredible views from almost anywhere inside the home. You can, of course, also slide open the door that separates the lounge from the outdoor patio and let some of that Derbyshire goodness drift in on the breeze. Forget about time as you amble around, heading to the compact kitchen for a cup of freshly-brewed coffee before sinking into the sofa without a care in the world, the sounds of mother nature a welcome lullaby. 

With board games on offer, you might take to the living room floor for a game or two in front of the crackling fire, but you’ll most likely want to spend most of your time outside. Kids have ample space to run around whilst you supervise from the garden chair with a glass of wine. Barbecue as often as possible or wander the grounds in search of the perfect picnic spot. 

The heated indoor swimming pool is yours for half of the day – make the most of it by playing shoulder wars or marco polo in the clear blue waters. With many walking routes, you’ll be able to see as much of the surroundings as possible, and all at your own pace. Try the Woodside to Chatsworth circular so you can stop off at Chatsworth Stables for a coffee. 

Explore the Peak District, visit the historic Haddon hall, and see the waterfalls – golfing enthusiasts might also want to visit the Bakewell course a short drive away. 

Where the Wind Vane Blows

Dating back to the 19th century, this barn in the White Peak area of the Peak District has ben given a new lease of life in recent years. No longer used for farmyard storage, it's now a country getaway full of luxurious touches.

Save for the sections of exposed stonework, you wouldn't be able to guess this home's true age. The design is contemporary but definitely rustic in flavour, with bare floorboards, artfully weathered wooden furnishings and a Scandinavian-style wood-burning stove that's the ideal companion to return to after a long bout in the great outdoors. The svelte rolltop bathtub upstairs is another way to get toasty and warm, too.

As you can probably guess from looking out through the glass doors to bucolic views of rolling countryside, you're not short of walking routes and picturesque scenic points in the immediate locale. The historic market town of Longnor only takes five minutes to reach in the car as well and offers a one pub, coffee shop & village shop.
