This home borders North Devon’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and provides easy access to Cairn Nature Reserve and the sprawling sands along the Devonshire coast.

One glance at those panoramic views and it's love at first sight. Perched just above Woolacombe Beach, if you're anything like us, you'll spend nearly every moment here on the expansive deck, watching the tide rise and fall – except when you're sunbathing on the sand or surfing the waves, of course. Wake up to the ocean vistas each morning, then following an alfresco breakfast, stroll down to the beach for an afternoon picnic and a dip in the water. End the evening with a barbecue and a glass of wine, watching as the sun slowly sinks below the horizon. Sounds heavenly, doesn't it?

You can even make the most of the scenery inside, thanks to the floor-to-ceiling sliding doors that drench the entire home in natural light. Contemporary and cool, we love how the coastal colour scheme reflects the backdrop – and all the mod-cons are accounted for. The rainfall showers in the en-suite bathrooms are hotel-worthy, a high-spec kitchen stocked with culinary gear (including a wine chiller) is a dream to cook in and Netflix, Now TV, books and board games will keep you entertained on rainy days. 

Location-wise, you can follow the South West Coastal Path into Woolacombe for eateries and pubs (about a fifteen-minute walk), or head in the opposite direction and check out the views from Morte Point (twenty-five minutes away). There's also some great golfing at Saunton if you fancy a day on the fairway, while many of North Devon's gems are within driving distance.

Moments from the harbour, the historic Chapel of St Nicholas and Capstone Hill, this modern apartment is surrounded by beautiful sights. Set in the seaside town of Ilfracombe, the home is close to several beaches, including Tunnels Beaches – a series of sheltered bays and a Victorian tidal bathing pool found through a series of tunnels. For surfers, Croyde and Woolacombe are a short drive away, while daredevils can try their hand at activities such as coasteering. North Devon's coast is also on full display from the apartment with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the ocean – keep eyes peeled for wildlife such as porpoises, seals and oystercatchers and enjoy alfresco breakfasts on the balcony. With a central location in the town, the home is not far from shops if you're cooking, or there are plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance if you fancy a night off. Stretch your legs by following The South West Coast Path which leads past the apartment and through cliffs and dramatic coastline or jump in the car for some light entertainment at Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park.

Having served the surrounding Devon farmland for hundreds of years, this traditional stone and slate barn has experienced quite a transformation in recent times, with a spectacular mezzanine bringing all the wow factor.

In winter months, snuggle up by the wood-burning stove (the underfloor heating keeps things toasty too) or get together around the dining table. It’s an atmospheric place to spend many an evening with the lofty wooden beams overhead. 

When the sun shines, head out into the pretty garden to soak up those sea vistas from the raised terrace as you fire up the barbecue. There’s heaps of space for kids to run amuck on the lawns leading down to a babbling stream. And be sure to seek out the hammock squirreled away in the trees – it’s got your name all over it.

When it’s time to get up and at ’em, nip into Berrynarbor with its characterful pubs and inns (just an eight-minute drive) and Ilfracombe with its beautiful fishing harbour (a ten-minute drive). Or ditch the car and pick up the coastal bridle path leading down to Hele with its tiny cove – it’s as idyllic as it sounds.

The brainchild of a celebrated interior designer, this North Devon townhouse has got it all figured out. Located a couple of minutes’ drive from Croyde beach, where you’ll spend long days surfing and soaking up the salty sea breeze, the inside of the home is beautifully sophisticated, with subtle nautical nods—we loved the knot wallpaper and delicate fish shoal light shade. The bunks in the children’s room will be a hit with mini swashbucklers, while the pizza oven on the patio should keep big kids quiet for a while. You’ll find the pretty village of Croyde a five-minute amble down the road, offering a charming selection of tea rooms, ice cream parlours and thatched pubs. After a hearty roast dinner, retreat home to the outdoor hot tub before turning in for the night in those luxurious king-size beds.

If you're looking for a sweeping dramatic view, beautifully decorated and comforting interior, plenty for the kids to do, and within easy reach of plenty of seaside fun, you've come to the right place. From the outside, you could almost convince yourself that you're at a (very nice!) pub, with round pub benches complete with sun umbrellas. It's the perfect laidback vibe for enjoying a drink while taking in the panoramic view of Woolacombe Beach and the North Devon countryside. Relaxing in your hot tub, a nice drink in hand, while looking out at the sweeping vista sounds like bliss.

The outdoor area's open and bright feel continues through to the interior, which is cloaked in neutral tones and chestnut woods. It's stylish yet inviting, with local artwork adding a touch of the beautiful Devon coast and countryside. Not that you could miss it – large windows encircle the home, offering ample opportunity to gaze at the mesmerising surfers all day long. And when you want to get out there yourself, you're less than a ten-minute walk to the beach. There, you'll find beautiful soft sand, beach cafes, and a surf school – why not test out the waves?

If you love a beach holiday, this cute home is perfect for you. Such is the proximity to one of the beaches, you can see the lapping waves and golden sands from the privacy of your cute garden. Sitting with a cup of coffee in the morning – listening to the sound of the waves touching the shore – is the perfect way to start your day.

The home is also within walking distance of two other beaches along Woolacombe's pretty esplanade – you can take trips to all three and discover your favourite. If you're feeling peckish after swimming, numerous pubs and restaurants reside nearby in Woolacombe centre.

Whilst you're out, pick up some supplies to enjoy back at the apartment. A deluxe dining table is made for sharing plates of fish and chips, complemented by a crisp glass of something cold. 

The dining table is the centrepiece of the open-plan living room – a bright space that's lit by natural light pouring in through the floor-to-ceiling patio doors. Light, wooden flooring and a carefully designed layout help create a cosy ambiance that doesn't feel crowded. 

Upstairs, you'll find the bedrooms and bathrooms, one of which contains a bath for when you need to soothe the mind and body. Light some candles and pour in the bubble bath to truly relax before you go to bed.

Look out over the fine golden sands and peeling surf of Woolacombe Bay from this boutique three-bedroom apartment. Just 150m from an award-winning beach, one of the finest in the South West, there are few better places for a family holiday that ticks all the boxes. Surfers, sunbathers and sand castle builders flock here over the warmer months (with committed surfers remaining in the depths of winter) and it's easy to see why.

The apartment is split across two levels, with a beach-inspired barefoot luxury interior that opens out onto two glass-fronted furnished balconies, one on each level. Wake up each morning, brew yourself a coffee and check the surf from the comfort of your apartment. Sure, you could check the internet, but it's not the same. With its inviting open layout, the kitchen/dining room/living area encourages you to spend time together as a group.

You're also ideally located for easy access to the bars, restaurants and surf shops that line Woolacombe's centre. After an early morning surf and a day spent enjoying all the on-site facilities at your disposal – including a gym, heated pool and sauna – why not head into town for a seafood dinner and to catch an open mic night at a local bar? While there are options to suit all tastes, enthusiastically tucking into an authentic Sri Lankan curry at nearby Barricane Beach is a sunset experience that's hard to top.

There's little reason to venture far for sun, sea and surf unless you're sheltering from south-westerlies at  Putsborough or seeking out the occasionally heavy beach break at Croyde. However, keen golfers might like to test their mettle on the challenging links course at Saunton Golf Club, while landscape lovers should take the opportunity to explore the wilds of Exmoor's western edge, both within a half-hour drive.

South By Southwest

This beautiful country home is steeped in history – the colonial-style building is Grade II listed, and it is said that former Prime Minister William Gladstone once stayed here when visiting Braunton. 

The bay window looks out onto the historic parish church, and there is an excellent village pub right next door for when you’re in need of some refreshment or a tasty pub lunch. The cosy sitting room has a wood-burning stove and comes with a complimentary basket of logs, and there’s an additional snug with a sofa and TV – just pop on one of the many DVDs available in the library and settle in for a movie night. You’ll also have the bright and modern kitchen at your disposal – why not rustle up a quick, delicious supper, which you can then enjoy in the spacious dining area.  

A picturesque stretch of the Tarka Trail is close by, offering paths for walking and cycling, while a short car ride will take you to an array of lovely beaches, including Saunton and Croyde. You can indulge in water sports such as surfing and canoeing here, and the house has storage space for boards. Those hoping for a more low-key, restful trip can simply enjoy the golden sands and the soothing sound of waves – and don’t forget to taste the legendary Devon cream tea! 


Take A Little Time

This charming, barn-converted cottage is tucked away in Braunton village adjoining the rich sand dunes of Braunton Burrows which host a rich plant community of ferns and herbs. 

This country cottage has all the features of a rural retreat by the sea, think clean tones with blue hues, high-beamed ceilings and reclaimed white-washed furnishings. When the sun is out, open up the french doors to the Juliette balcony to invite the coastal Devonshire breeze in, or spend lunch in the soft-lawned orchard surrounded by wildflowers. When the weather isn’t playing ball, spend afternoons on the cosy sofa with the log-burning fire and a movie classic. Come rain or shine, the kitchen is ready to spring into action for picnic preparation or family-style dinners around the wooden dining table.

If you’re venturing outside the cottage, prepare for an abundance of choices - surfing lessons down on Saunton Beach (eight minutes away), cycling along the Tarka Trail, exploring the woodlands of Exmoor National Park (twenty-five minutes by car) or indulging in a local pub lunch. Surrounded by rolling countryside hills and stunning Jurassic beaches, you’ll find tranquillity and exploration in equal measure.

With floor-to-ceiling windows and Devon’s beaches in clear sight, you won’t have to venture further than your breakfast table for a romantic view of Ilfracombe’s gorgeous coastline. Great for a couple's adventure or even a solo retreat, this home ticks all of our boxes on convenience and comfort when it comes to exploring the nearby sights with ease. Beyond the beach, you can hike up to Hillsborough Hill, explore Exmoor National Park or roam neighbouring cycling and horse riding trails nearby.

This apartment is seaside Victoriana at its finest, with classic bay windows in the bedroom and living room. The breakfast table sits in a sunny spot with a view out to sea, and the kitchen has everything you need for a full English to fuel you. After a day on the South West Coast Path, sink into the king-size bed for a sound sleep.

Being situated between the popular Devon destinations of Woolacoombe and Ilfracombe, you'll be in a prime location to take full advantage of a seaside holiday here. Spend ten minutes wandering the local coast path to Grunta Beach where the turquoise water gleams like blue crystals in the sun, or make the six minute-drive to Woolacombe for a classic English day out at the beach on a huge stretch of sand with sea waves to jump over. 

English cottages don't come much more traditional than this one with its characterful wooden beams and doors. With a wood burner and garden oasis to enjoy, the whole family will love returning here after a day out on the sand. It’s just outside of the pretty village of Mortehoe in North Devon, where you’ll find pubs and restaurants. Woolacombe and its Blue Flag sandy beach is also just a ten-minute drive away. The cottage is in an ideal spot for bird watching, and there are plenty of walks to enjoy nearby. The house itself is cosy and comfortable, with everything you might need for a short stay by the sea.

You get a gorgeous view of the beach from the bay windows, as well as a lovely patio to sit on while you watch the morning tide roll in, a cup of coffee in hand. The elegant yet modern decor makes every moment in this home a pleasure – we love the way the wooden staircase showcases the building's historic architecture. Walk in the footsteps of the Lady herself, and climb the stairs to the second floor to see where you'll be resting your head each night. Why not go for a relaxing soak in the outdoor hot tub before you have a bite for breakfast? 

The breakfast bar is perfect for a get-together before you all head out to the beach for the day. Journey down the Esplanade for an eighteen–minute walk to the popular Woolacombe Beach, taking in all the sights and sounds of the coastline as you tuck into ice cream. Barricane Beach is only a five–minute walk away from the home, which has a charming little beachside cafe for a quick bite. 

After a day of fun by the coast, head to The Tides Inn pub for a delicious homely meal, accompanied by a glass of red or even a pint of the finest ale. If you time it right, you'll be able to walk along the Esplanade while the sun sets – the amber glow reflecting off of the ocean as you return home. Once you arrive back at the house, pop the TV on to find your favourite movie on Sky, get yourself a toasty cuppa, and put your feet up.

Back at home, you’ll find a wet room where you can rinse off the salt and sand, as well as a grand clawfoot bath for the perfect ending to a delightful day.

With features dating back to the sixteenth century, a stay at this former farmhouse epitomises a Devon country retreat. Within the grounds, you’ve got a shared indoor swimming pool, games room and playparks aplenty for the kids. Feeding sessions at the animal enclosures take place in the morning where you can get close to the alpacas, piglets and pygmy goats. And there’s an honesty shop onsite too, selling delights like eggs straight from the farm, home-cooked ready meals and barbecue meat packs. If you want to explore the wider area, Combe Martin is a five-minute drive away with a couple of local pubs and a supermarket, and Combe Martin’s beach is just a ten-minute drive.

The home itself dated back to the sixteenth century and you can feel this history in the old beams, minstrel’s gallery above the living room and listed staircase inside. Decor touches like an old spinning wheel, suspended aviary and antique writer’s bureau bring that old-world feel back into the bones of the home and the living room is set around a traditional old stove set in stonework. The huge kitchen is designed farmhouse-style with a big range cooker and island in the centre surrounded by high chairs. The master bedroom features a carved four-posted bed and each bedroom is decorated with antique darkwoork furniture and Victoriana accents.

Old Farmhouse

Situated above White Pebble Bay and less than a mile from Ilfracombe Beach, this charming house provides a coastal escape that's perfect for families and friends.

Set over three levels, the interior provides plenty of space for quiet moments and socialising. The plush and elegant living room is the perfect setting for an evening of games or a movie night curled up with the family. Elsewhere, the sleek and modern kitchen is set up for days when you want to try your hand at that meal that’s been sitting in your recipe folder – pick up some local seafood and see where your imagination takes you. The bedrooms here are individual in style and indulgently comforting – you'll love falling into your soft sheets after a soak session in the freestanding tub. 

You’re idyllically located for walks along the South West Coastal Path, where you can soak up the sea breeze and spot local wildlife. The nearby town of Ilfracombe is famed for its sandy beaches and stunning cliffs, spend the day on the powdery sands or hop in a kayak for an afternoon on the waves. 

White Pebbles Blue Waves

With sea views from every angle, this hillside home is the perfect base for beach babies. Bookended by Woolacombe and Mortehoe, you'll be within walking distance from some of Devon's best stretches of sand. Surfers will want to try the waves at Woolacombe beach below, while more sheltered bathing can be found in the coves of Combesgate and Barricane beaches. 

In the evenings, sit out on the patio and watch the sun set over the sea with a glass of something nice. On chillier nights, curl up by the wood-burning stove in the cosy lounge as the wind picks up outside. The modern kitchen has all the facilities needed for rustling up a feast, though it's hard to resist the fish and chip shop found a ten-minute walk away. For more formal meals – or for a few cocktails in town – Woolacombe has several restaurants and bars, or the larger town of Barnstaple is a twenty-minute drive away. The South West Coast Path runs past the house so join it to walk through magnificent rock formations and striking cliffs above. Our recommendation? Lundy Island – famous for its puffins – can be seen from the house and makes for a great day trip, with ferries leaving from Ilfracombe and Bideford.

Rockpool Villa

Perched in the ancient pine trees, high above the beautiful coastline and surrounding village of Mortehoe below, this stately home stands out amongst the rest. From the moment you step foot over the threshold, you'll notice the high ceilings, original features and stripped wooden floors that make for a real sense of space throughout the home. After an afternoon spent wandering the North Devon and Exmoor countryside, unwind in the light and airy living space with friends and family. You'll find an ornate fireplace, crushed velvet furnishings and statement lighting that creates a really sleek and elegant area to relax. Moving into the chic kitchen and dining area, we think there's somewhat of a Scandi feel to the space, with white Eames-style chairs, low-hanging lampshades and a minimalist design. Upstairs, the cosy master bedroom offers distant sea views out of the dual aspect windows, a copper effect metal bed frame and a velvet ottoman for extra storage. But the real highlight of the home is the outside space. We can think of nothing better than balmy summer evenings spent out in the peaceful and private garden area. Beyond, stroll down to Barricane Beach in just twenty-one minutes, or explore the local pubs, restaurants and coastal footpaths within the village – it's all within walking distance here. 

Pines & Needles

Just a few miles from the famous Saunton Sands, this lovely home has a bubbling hot tub, a sunny veranda and huge floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the interior with light. One of three homes on the same site, it’s the ideal base for exploring the spectacular Devonshire coast. Saunton Sands is one of Devon’s most beautiful beaches, with three miles of golden sand, and azure water. It’s as popular with surfers as families, but with such a vast stretch of beach, rarely feels crowded. The popular village of Braunton is also close by, with its many surf shops, restaurants and cafes. Enjoy a lazy lie in before heading to the beach to swim, surf and explore Braunton Burrows’ immense sand dunes. Then come back for a relaxing dunk in the hot tub and watch the sun go down on the deck with a glass of something delicious. The host welcomes pets (and Saunton Sands is dog-friendly year-round), so if you’ve got a furry friend, it’s the dream holiday. 

Sandy Burrow

Perfect for a couple’s retreat, this home is all about switching off from everyday life and enjoying the great outdoors. The studio layout gives easy access to everything needed for a comfortable stay, while the private terrace is just the spot for unwinding over an alfresco meal. Enjoy woodland walks from your doorstep, or jump in the car for adventures further afield. Within a twenty-minute drive, you can reach the beaches in Combe Martin or Exmoor National Park – here, you have the best of both worlds. 

Woodland Willow

This place had us on those sweeping countryside views alone – it’s just green paddocks and rolling valleys for as far as the eye can see. And that was before we’d even noticed that suntrap terrace with hot tub.

Set on a private estate made up of seven holiday cottages and a mere ten-minute drive from some of North Devon’s most picturesque sandy bays, it’s got family holiday written all over it. Splash about in the heated indoor pool. Let little ones burn off steam in the impressive play area (or indoor soft play and games room should the weather turn). Meet the estate’s farm animals (over fifty and counting) at feeding time. Grab yourself some ‘me time’ with an onsite yoga or aqua aerobics class. Or head off on an adventure with furry friends through the gardens, sunken lanes, meadows, and streams (perfect for little dam-builders) – there are sixteen acres to explore here.

When thoughts turn to food, pick your own at the estate’s kitchen garden and greenhouse then rustle up a bite to eat at home. Or grab something from the onsite honesty shop, stocked with frozen meals, BBQ packs from the local farm shop, and lashings of ice cream. Then all that’s left to do is put your feet up and hunker down at home. With its four-poster beds and flagstone flooring, this cute-as-a-button hideaway delivers all the cottage charms you’re chasing. 

Aylesbury Cottage

Located only a short twenty-minute walk from Devon's beautiful Staunton Sands beach and tucked away on a quiet countryside road, The Great Honeysuckle is the perfect place for a discerning couple to kick back and relax for a few days. Aside from the beach, the area is great for long walks and birdwatching, and once you're done exploring, you can always return and hit the outdoor hot tub to unwind. Start your day with a lazy brunch prepared in the bright kitchenette, then enjoy a hot cup of coffee on the patio – the decked terrace area is surrounded by green countryside views, that we really love. If you feel like visiting a historical town, then head over to Barnstaple, under a fifteen-minute drive away, for a nice afternoon in the city centre. When – weary from wandering and ensuring you've picked up some local goods on your travels – knock up a hearty meal and get cosy on the sofa with a good book. The interior has a real classic summertime look, with its exposed wood, light blue tones and French doors. Through to the bedroom, you'll find a continuation of the main living space with tasteful artwork and a gingham throw adding to the charm of this home-sweet-home.
