Where do we start with this home – both the apartment and the location are excellent. Firstly, it’s just a 50-metre stroll across West Cliff Green to the beach steps making this the perfect base for a family-friendly holiday by the sea. There are an array of restaurants and bars within walking distance whilst Bournemouth Pier and the town centre are also accessible by foot. We love the sea views from this place’s private garden and who wouldn’t want to dine or relax in the light-filled conservatory? If you’re a group of eight, then two guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living space, but it’s a spacious room. What a great find this is.

Just steps from Charminster High Street, this ground floor flat is brimming with Victorian character. It's a lovely red-brick townhouse, with plenty of historic charm to admire – think high ceilings and picture rails, ornamental ceiling roses, tall skirting boards and large bay windows flooding the rooms with light. Though it's on the smaller side, it's been well-designed to maximise the space – we think it's perfectly suited to a couple after a romantic escape. Read the morning paper in the plush armchair, help yourself to a selection of cereals and teas at the rustic breakfast bar or unwind after a busy day with a movie night in the cosy living room. The kitchenette is more suited to light bites than extravagant meals, so in the evenings you may want to dine out – there's an array of cafes, pubs and restaurants in Charminster to choose from. Bournemouth town centre and its sandy beaches are a twenty-five-minute walk (though we recommend driving), or venture a little further and enjoy a trip to the Jurassic Coast, famous for its fossils – you can be there in under an hour.

With plenty of space to spread out, this ground-floor apartment in an Edwardian home near Westbourne is a fantastic base to return to after a day at the beach. Having a private entrance and garden ensures you have all the privacy you need here, plus private parking is a real premium in this area during the summer months. Although there's room for six, we think the main bedroom is better suited to two adults and two children, while the second bedroom is ideal if you're travelling with another couple. When it's time to explore, you'll find the beautiful sandy beach of Alum Chine just 350 metres away, whilst a 15-minute walk will get you to the eclectic mix of boutiques, cafes and bars of Westbourne and its beautiful Victorian arcade.

This former hotel sits in the heart of Bournemouth. Perfect for large groups and events, there’s plenty of space for entertaining across the large living and dining room. This bright, modern home exudes luxury from every fibre and feature and it sits just fifty metres from Poole’s pretty harbour. Beach days are a short walk away, with the long stretch of sand at Shore Road Beach a six-minute stroll away, so you can pop back home if you’ve forgotten the sunscreen. Your proximity to the sea is on display in the master bedroom, with views out over the ocean from a wall of windows. Out the back, you’ll find a balcony for sunbathing and a ground-level terrace is set up for barbecues in the evening. But it’s the ultra-plush living room in dove-grey and dusky pink velvet that really caught our eye. A long fireplace runs the length of the wall, reminiscent of a mid-century entertainers pad in luxe LA. The kitchen is in striking monochrome, where sleek minimalism reigns supreme, yet every appliance and mod-con for self-catering is hidden behind cabinets, and there are two wine fridges tucked into the island. Floor the ceiling windows let in plenty of seaside sunshine, and Poole’s myriad seafood restaurants and ocean-side bars are at your fingertips here.

In the exclusive coastal suburbs between Poole and Bournemouth, this 1920s period home is the perfect family break. It’s just a short walk from the restaurants and cafés of Penn Hill, and a four-minute drive (or half-hour walk) sees you at your own private beach hut on Branksome Beach (on request). This cute little hideaway has a gas stove in its kitchenette for the most fabulous beach picnic and is packed with all the beach essentials. At the home itself, a mock-Tudor-style facade greets you and the private garden is a real sun trap. The courtyard to one side has a bench in the sun and the patio out the back houses the alfresco dining table where you can keep an eye on little ones running around the lawn. If you want luxe sleepovers or a shaded place to laze during the day, your host can arrange for a bell tent to be set up. The open-plan living area has a wood-burning stove, setting the cottage-cosy tone. Impeccably dressed, the interiors are a cohesive blend of modern and traditional – think licks of Farrow & Ball paint, reupholstered vintage furniture and plenty of mod-cons to make your stay a cinch. Downstairs, there’s a fully-equipped kitchen with gorgeous garden views, and an inviting living space – we loved curling up on the squashy sofas with a slice of your host’s homemade cake and a hot cup of tea on blustery afternoons. 

Upstairs, two quaint bedrooms ensure a good night’s sleep. You’ll find the third bedroom outside in the shepherd’s hut – it’s an idyllic little cabin with its own log-burning stove to keep you toasty on chilly evenings. 

Step out of your front door and you’ll find a number of indie shops, restaurants and cafes less than five minutes from your abode. If you’re keen to explore a little further afield, the golden beaches at Bournemouth are reached in twenty-five minutes by car. Or why not visit the famous Durdle Door? This luxurious home has starred in magazine and TV ads but there's no need to worry, there's as much substance as there is style. A home built to be lived in, it perfectly blends opulent furnishings and on-trend design with everything you might need to make for a comfortable stay. The high-end kitchen is the heart of the house, with sliding doors opening up onto an outdoor terrace – just perfect for an evening soiree. The living room has an open fire at each end, and the host has provided plenty of logs to keep you toasty during winter stays. Upstairs, the master suite is a delightful space, with a free-standing tub, powerful shower and cloud-like bed. The guest shower room doubles up as a steam room for that 'spa-at-home' feeling. But our favourite spot is the basement, playfully kitted out and complete with a comfy, oversize sofa and TV screen. Outside, there's even a small pool to dip in and out of on hot summer days. But we guess you're likely to be headed to the beach. It's just a seven-minute walk to Southbourne's, or a fifteen-minute drive to Bournemouth's main sands.
