Plus, it’s a great base fro exploring the Dorset countryside with Axminster, Bridport and Sidmouth all within easy driving distance. After a day of adventure, you can enjoy laidback evening drinks on the private terrace or in the living room by the fire. It’s also a great option for families with the handy addition of a sofa bed in the snug.  

Walk by the Sea

Stradling the border between Devon and Dorset on over five acres of woodland, this stately and delightfully quirky home can thank the secluded location for the beautiful countryside views. Between the untamed garden and on-site meadows, you'll find a tiered deck with a sauna, hot tub and ample seating. Even further along is a natural pool for warmer days. If you'd prefer a day at the beach, Lyme Regis lies only a few minutes away. And exploring the Jurassic Coast is a must, Durdle Door especially – it's a little over an hour but well worth the trip.

The Road to the Meadow

Stepping inside this garden apartment feels like discovering a hidden gem. Located in the centre of Lyme Regis and just a two-minute walk from the beach, you’ll find a home that sits in perfect harmony with its environment. 

From the pastel-coloured tones to the simple styling, it’s the kind of space that ushers you in with a warm welcome – creating an instant sense of relaxation. So whether you’re here for a Jurassic Coast adventure or for a restorative retreat by the sea, this home makes it easy to enjoy it all in style. 

Follow the light through the living room and you’ll discover your own secluded garden. Featuring a wood-fired hot tub, this is an idyllic spot to soak up the magic of outdoor living. And when you’re refreshed and ready to explore, days can be spent embracing the waves on the seafront, hiking along the cliffs, sitting in cosy cafes and simply enjoying the spectacular scenery. 

Lavender Sea 

Set within 20 acres of unspoilt Dorset countryside, this converted farm building is the perfect rural retreat. Inside, it’s cosy and charming – we loved the soft natural colour scheme and sumptuous furnishings that guarantee relaxation. Begin your mornings at the dining table with a cooked breakfast before finishing the last of a pot of tea on your private balcony. When the sun is shining, wander around the grounds – follow the Woodland Nature Trail through open fields or enjoy a moment of stillness by the lake. Should rain threaten, head to the games room for a round of table tennis. 

You’ll find your home a ten-minute drive from the surf-lashed Hive Beach. Look for fossils as you pick your way across the sand then enjoy a brisk paddle in the water. In the late afternoon, appease grumbling tummies with some proper pub grub at The Three Horseshoes in Burton Bradstock – it’s only 3.5 miles away. 

Sweet Pea & Ivy

Nestled in the village of Burton Bradstock, yet close to the coast, this cosy cottage serves up the best of both worlds. Full of traditional charm, it’s easy to relax here – just mind your head on those beautiful old beams. Summer months will be well spent catching some rays over a glass of wine in the garden, where you can also dine alfresco unless one of the village pubs tempts you out for something to eat. And if it’s a day on the coast you seek, pick between Hive beach or West Bay beach for a refreshing day by the sea. 

A Delight in Dorset

Effortlessly blending contemporary with traditional, this Grade II listed cottage in the village of Burton Bradstock is perfect for a tranquil stay. We love the exposed beams and cosy fireplace and the enclosed garden is a bonus – ideal for those with a four-legged friend in tow. With a couple of pubs in the village, dining out is always on the menu, or you can take a short walk across the fields to Hive beach. After a stroll on the sand, the cafe is just the spot for a little sustenance. 

Sunlight Cottage

This beautiful home offers an exceptional coastal escape in the heart of Dorset. It’s right next to iconic Chesil Beach on the World Heritage Jurassic Coastline, with spectacular walks in every direction – including to the pub and a farmshop. From here, you can easily visit Bridport, West Bay, and Lyme Regis. Its position adjacent to the beach means you can look forward to wonderful sea views – on a clear day, you can see Lyme Bay to the west and Portland to the east. We love the outside space, which is perfect for alfresco dining, and the well-equipped kitchen. 

Chesil Beach Beauty

This recently remodelled home on the Devon/Dorset border is perfect for a countryside retreat. Positioned on the edge of a historic, seventeenth-century farm, just a short way from Lambert’s Castle and five miles from Lyme Regis and Charmouth on the Jurassic coast, the area promises exciting day trips and outstanding natural beauty. Whether you’re after rural rambles or swimming in the sea, there's something to pique your interest. Inside, underfloor heating means you'll be toasty warm no matter the weather, while floor-to-ceiling windows ensure guests enjoy a splendid view from every corner of the home. Food is important to your chef host, so despite the compact size of the kitchen it contains everything you could need. We'd definitely recommend sampling charcuterie made from his rare breed pigs and you'll be supplied with farm fresh eggs on arrival. The comfortable bed is perfectly positioned to catch a glimpse of the stars through remote-controlled skylight

Meadow View

Follow in the footsteps of nineteenth-century fossil hunter Mary Anning with this glorious coastal apartment overlooking Lyme Regis and the Jurassic Coast.
 
 Spend your days scouring the cliffs for prehistoric treasures, browsing Lyme's tempting gift shops and eateries or strolling the world-famous Cobb Harbour – all within a few minutes' walk of the apartment. Enjoy a sunny barbecue on your private roof terrace or rustle up something tasty in the well-equipped kitchen, then settle back to enjoy spectacular sea views. If the Dorset weather isn't so kind to you, a squashy sofa (and smart TV) awaits in the open-plan living space. Oh, and look out for the host's thoughtfully curated artwork featuring the local area.
 
 Spend time getting to know the quirky charms of Lyme Regis or take a road trip and explore further along the West Dorset and East Devon coastline before returning to your welcoming home-from-home. A rare find indeed!

Ammonite

Journey through the wilds of the West Dorset countryside and the Jurassic Coast bound for this charming cottage, set within the grounds of an exclusive farm estate. With some of the region's most sought-after towns, villages, and beaches (Hive beach and café get our vote) just a short drive away, there's something to satisfy everyone's wanderlust here. Though if you're more of a homebird, there's plenty to keep you entertained back at the cottage.

Set on postcard-pretty farm grounds, this place brings all the countryside feels you're chasing. Enjoy a pootle on the pond with the rowing boats and bid the resident ducks a good day. Amble through the surrounding woodlands and meadows. Or let little ones burn off some energy in the shared gardens with a playground and trampoline (there's a game room and skittle alley, too, if the weather doesn't buck up), all under your watchful gaze from the shared gardens.

When it's time to put your feet up at home, you can't help but be charmed by this dinky but perfectly formed cottage. There's a cosy sitting area ready for family film nights and board game marathons. And outside, a sunny terrace with magnificent views across the Bride Valley for afternoon tea and barbecues on long summer nights.

The Hopping Hare

Set in the picturesque village of Whitchurch Canonicorum, this single-level home offers a tranquil escape in the heart of Dorset. With beautiful views over the fields beyond, the garden is a great place to unwind. There’s also a paddock with a small orchard area. Inside this old, converted dairy, there are plenty of character features, along with a traditional farmhouse-style kitchen. We love the wood burner too – the armchair here is the perfect place for reading a book. It might be difficult to tear yourself away from here, but there’s plenty to see and do. The village has a pub which serves food, while Charmouth, with its popular beach, is just over two miles away. 

Dorset Orchards

This traditional thatched cottage is located in the picturesque village of Burton Bradstock. From here, you can savour fresh sea air and England’s natural beauty while exploring the Jurassic Coast. It’s also possible to walk to the nearest pub and shop, while wonderful spots like Weymouth and Dorchester are just a short drive away. Private parking is available and there’s a sweet garden for warm weather days. Inside, the rooms are perfect for families with plenty of space to stretch out and socialise.
