This Southbourne home is a bit special. The beach is just a short walk away, which also means you can enjoy wonderful views here – there are 180-degree panoramas of the Isle of Wight, Sandbanks, and Swanage, which can be enjoyed from the balcony. If you’re not a fan of sandy feet, you can cool off in the private pool instead – and there’s a hot tub for relaxation. With fabulous sea views and two balconies, this gorgeous apartment is right on Southbourne Beach (accessed via the Fisherman's Walk zig-zag path and a cliff lift, a two-minute walk away). Southbourne Town centre is a five to ten-minute saunter – here, you'll find an array of restaurants and bars, while Bournemouth is an eight-minute drive and Poole is thirty minutes by car.

When you're not on the beach basking in the sun or exploring nearby, relax on this home's balcony with a glass of wine from the complimentary bottle – the vistas over the beach are stunning. Then whip up a seafood dinner in the modern kitchen with its granite surfaces. Afterwards, take in the seascape from the comfy sofa. We just couldn't tear ourselves away from the windows.

Where do we start with this home – both the apartment and the location are excellent. Firstly, it’s just a 50-metre stroll across West Cliff Green to the beach steps making this the perfect base for a family-friendly holiday by the sea. There are an array of restaurants and bars within walking distance whilst Bournemouth Pier and the town centre are also accessible by foot. We love the sea views from this place’s private garden and who wouldn’t want to dine or relax in the light-filled conservatory? If you’re a group of eight, then two guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living space, but it’s a spacious room. What a great find this is.

In the vibrant coastal city of Bournemouth, you won’t just be keeping yourself busy with watersports and sunbathing, but galleries, theatres, and historic churches. Forget about beach life for a second and head further up into town, where you’ll find this luxurious flat just ten minutes from Bournemouth train station on foot. In an Edwardian building, this refurbished home is a distinguished and elegant base for exploring the delights of Dorset. We love the fabulous living space – antique and vintage furniture meets modern, industrial pieces in this eclectic room. The brick fireplace features a funky mirror in its hearth, the Ziegler rug plays host to a mid-century leather Barcelona chair and footstool, the white Chesterfield sofa and regency chaise longue are perfect for relaxing, and the reflection of the black wire chandelier can be seen in the ornate gilded mirror. You’re sure to be charmed by this home of sophisticated and exquisite contrasts. On a sunny morning, wake up to light from the huge, bay windows and head out for a wander. You’ll hit the beach in under thirty minutes, but we recommend taking the long way through town to discover cool local shops and great restaurants on Charminster Road. Further afield, the scenic New Forest is half an hour away in the car, and the exclusive Sandbanks peninsula can be reached in twenty.

With plenty of space to spread out, this ground-floor apartment in an Edwardian home near Westbourne is a fantastic base to return to after a day at the beach. Having a private entrance and garden ensures you have all the privacy you need here, plus private parking is a real premium in this area during the summer months. Although there's room for six, we think the main bedroom is better suited to two adults and two children, while the second bedroom is ideal if you're travelling with another couple. When it's time to explore, you'll find the beautiful sandy beach of Alum Chine just 350 metres away, whilst a 15-minute walk will get you to the eclectic mix of boutiques, cafes and bars of Westbourne and its beautiful Victorian arcade.

Just steps from Charminster High Street, this ground floor flat is brimming with Victorian character. It's a lovely red-brick townhouse, with plenty of historic charm to admire – think high ceilings and picture rails, ornamental ceiling roses, tall skirting boards and large bay windows flooding the rooms with light. Though it's on the smaller side, it's been well-designed to maximise the space – we think it's perfectly suited to a couple after a romantic escape. Read the morning paper in the plush armchair, help yourself to a selection of cereals and teas at the rustic breakfast bar or unwind after a busy day with a movie night in the cosy living room. The kitchenette is more suited to light bites than extravagant meals, so in the evenings you may want to dine out – there's an array of cafes, pubs and restaurants in Charminster to choose from. Bournemouth town centre and its sandy beaches are a twenty-five-minute walk (though we recommend driving), or venture a little further and enjoy a trip to the Jurassic Coast, famous for its fossils – you can be there in under an hour.

This is elegant, country living at its very best. Set in the heart of the New Forest National Park, this charming cottage is just a five-minute drive from the pretty village of Burley with its quirky shops, pubs, and tea houses and a twenty-minute drive to the coast. Inside this home, a wash of soothing sage and neutral tones blends with slate flooring and quality furniture to create a house full of character and style. Fully kitted out with families in mind, the hosts have thought of every last detail. There's a playroom brimming with toys and books to keep the kids amused, and they'll love the bunk beds upstairs in the light-filled bedrooms. For the adults, a slipper bath is waiting to unwind in, and there's a wood-burning fire for curling up beside in the evenings. The welcome basket is impressive, too – with a cheeky bottle of wine ready to enjoy once little ones are tucked up in bed. Outside at the bottom of the charming garden, there's a gate leading you into the woods with a babbling brook for splashing about with fishing nets. You may even spot wild ponies trotting by. Could anything sound more idyllic? We don't think so.

This luxurious home has starred in magazine and TV ads but there's no need to worry, there's as much substance as there is style. A home built to be lived in, it perfectly blends opulent furnishings and on-trend design with everything you might need to make for a comfortable stay. The high-end kitchen is the heart of the house, with sliding doors opening up onto an outdoor terrace – just perfect for an evening soiree. The living room has an open fire at each end, and the host has provided plenty of logs to keep you toasty during winter stays. Upstairs, the master suite is a delightful space, with a free-standing tub, powerful shower and cloud-like bed. The guest shower room doubles up as a steam room for that 'spa-at-home' feeling. But our favourite spot is the basement, playfully kitted out and complete with a comfy, oversize sofa and TV screen. Outside, there's even a small pool to dip in and out of on hot summer days. But we guess you're likely to be headed to the beach. It's just a seven-minute walk to Southbourne's, or a fifteen-minute drive to Bournemouth's main sands.

This Westbourne flat is a brilliant gateway to both Dorset's coast and countryside. With a thoughtful range of amenities and space for two guests – plus a furry friend – couples will love kicking back and relaxing here between their adventures.  

The interior is bright and airy, with a contemporary collection of furniture and stylish sloping ceilings. Open a bottle of wine, and sip a glass as you prepare a delicious dinner together – the open-plan setup makes it easy to chat while you cook. And, afterwards, you can curl up on the sofa and get comfortable as you plan your itinerary for the following day. 

Bournemouth town centre is a twenty-minute walk away, where you'll find plenty of shops, restaurants, and cafés to try out. Refuel and continue your walk down to the water's edge – it takes around forty minutes to arrive at the iconic pier and sandy beach. Golfers will be happy that the local course is just a ten-minute drive away, while nature lovers can stroll through Upton Country Park, just fifteen minutes away by car.

This home is just a five-minute stroll from Bournemouth's town centre and ten from the beach and pier – now that's convenient. With such a wonderful location, we don't blame you for spending your days exploring. But for those seeking a bit of R&R, this house is the ideal choice. As soon as you walk through the door, you'll notice the relaxed ambience and seaside-inspired design. It's spread across three floors, so there's space for everyone. The kitchen is well-appointed for family dinners, while a small garden out back has sundowners and barbecues covered. Topping it all off, your host can arrange a hot tub for an additional fee – the perfect ending to a day on the coast.

This home’s location is hard to beat, we think. The River Stour is just 100 metres away, with a public slipway from where you can launch kayaks and boats. Bournemouth’s Blue Flag beaches are a short walk away, too. That’s if you can tear yourself away from the gardens which extend to half an acre. There’s a pond, a large lawn, a barbecue and a patio area, as well as a trampoline. Inside, there are several sitting rooms (one with an open fire) and a garden room. This place is perfect for a family or group of friends looking to get the most out of Dorset. 

The River Stour

Coastal retreats don't come much more refined or elegant than this Grade II listed abode. And locations don't get much better either. Perched right in the heart of the Georgian market town of Lymington, the New Forest and coast are both less than a ten-minute drive. And Solent's quayside is even closer –⁠ a six-minute stroll, to be precise.

Inside, every corner of this luxurious home feels like an interior magazine come to life. Oil paintings and antique pieces bring a touch of heritage, while pops of blue accents unify the space and remind us that the Solent is never far away. 

In winter months, curl up beside the crackling fire in the first-floor drawing room –⁠ that chesterfield sofa has your name all over it. Then gather your ensemble in the elegant dining room with a blazing hearth at its heart to host a glamourous dinner party. Everything you need to flex your culinary muscles is in the made-for-action kitchen, and the Sonos speakers will set the ambience. 

On long summer evenings, grab a glass of something chilled and head out through the arched doors into the stunning courtyard garden. Blissfully quiet, it feels like your very own private oasis.

And we like the little extras, too, like the slow cooker in the glossy kitchen, Crabtree & Evelyn soaps and a lavish rainfall shower. 

Another thing we love? The location. A fifteen-minute stroll through the woods takes you straight to Alum Chine Beach, while countless pubs, restaurants and shops are just around the corner from the apartment. This is an ideal spot to discover the best of Bournemouth and Poole, with many family-friendly activities and sun-kissed beaches either within walking distance (including Bournemouth Pier, thirty minutes on foot) or a quick drive away.

When you’re not exploring Poole, you might drive fifteen minutes to the sandy beach at Sandbanks – don’t forget your bucket and spade.

Charming, vibrant and beautiful – Bournemouth is one of the hidden gems along England's south coast. Luckily, this cosy annex is perfectly located to explore the cute streets and glistening waterfront. 

You can walk to the beach or town centre in less than twenty minutes, giving you unfeigned freedom for your holiday. The gorgeous beach radiates underneath the summer sun, perfect for lazy days sunbathing on the golden sand.

If you're more of a city dweller than beach bum, head to the copious cafes, bars and restaurants that shape the centre. Enjoy your morning coffee at an authentic cafe, peruse the shops in the afternoon then settle down for dinner in the evening. The town welcomes you take the day at your own pace.

This cosy cabin is the perfect little bolthole for couples wanting to escape to the country. The location right at the heart of the New Forest means you’ll feel miles away from the stresses of daily life – as you fly down country lanes on your bike, you’ll feel your worries melting away. 

The cabin is just outside of Brockenhurst, in an area that feels secluded but isn’t too far from the nearest shops. You can stroll to the pub in fifteen minutes, which is a welcome sight after a day spent hiking the trails. A four-minute drive will get you to beautiful Beaulieu, which is well worth an afternoon strolling around after lunch in a cafe. The abbey is just six minutes from the cabin – the tranquil ruins are always popular with history buffs. 

If you need an ice cream on the beach for it to feel like a holiday, you’re in luck. Fifteen minutes by car will have you on a sandy shore, though we can’t guarantee it’ll be paddling weather. 

For us, the real joy of this cabin is its countryside setting. Walking just five minutes from the front door will see you on walking and cycling trails. When your feet start to feel sore, head back to the cabin to soak in the luxurious claw-foot tub before spending the evening in front of the fire. Absolute bliss.
