If you’re in search of an easygoing Cotswolds getaway, this home makes a great option. You’ll find it’s just a short drive or bus ride into the heart of Gloucester city centre, while Cheltenham is also within easy reach. There is a large private garden and the open-plan living room and kitchen lends itself perfectly to social gatherings. It’s worth noting this home isn’t suitable for infants or children, but we think it makes a great spot for a refreshing adults-only escape.

As the name the suggests, this beautifully converted home used to be a dairy, or to be more accurate, a former cheese press. Fully modernised with reclaimed timber floors and underfloor heating throughout, it's now a cosy and comfortable retreat. With plenty of walks and pubs close by, it’s the perfect base for exploring the unspoilt countryside – Bredon Hill and the Malvern Hills are especially lovely. With honeyed stone walls and a Grade II listed status, this bronze South West Award-winning traditional stone cottage is quintessentially Cotswolds. The exposed beams and inglenook fireplaces showcase the building’s considerable heritage (it dates back to 1670), but you’ll find plenty of modern comforts here, as well as cosy styling that favours neutral tones and natural textures. We love that it’s a home for all seasons — stride out on blustery walks in the winter months, before coming back to underfloor heating, a wood burner and thick goose down duvets. In the summer, the British countryside is arguably at its best and here you get access to a large birdsong-filled garden with plenty of shady spots for a gin and tonic. Stargazers are in luck here as there are no streetlights in the local village of Southrop and the Milky Way shines extra bright. And of course, what would a country getaway be without a nearby pub? The Swan can be reached in about three minutes' walk, although the Victoria Inn takes half an hour in case you fancy earning your pint.

You’ll find this renovated church in the village of Paxford, an ideal base from which to explore the Cotswolds. It may not be suitable for children due to the staircase design and historic fixtures throughout the home, but it offers a relaxing retreat for four guests. This countryside haven is nestled in the Cotswold town of Minchinhampton. Made up of two side-by-side cottages, there's lots of room here for families and large groups. One well-behaved dog is allowed in one of the cottages for an additional fee, and your host can provide a free highchair and travel cot for little ones. All the bedrooms have their own en-suites, and while the ceiling is a bit low in one of them, there's plenty to make up for it. Outdoors, you'll find space for alfresco dining, along with a tennis court and a small stone gazebo on the expansive grounds, ideal for relaxing with a book.
