Nestled in Todenham village, this home is perfect for those keen to explore the great outdoors. It’s comfortable for six people, although the third bedroom is a bit of a squeeze and has a wardrobe on the landing. That said, throughout the cottage, you’re met with 17th-century charm – just mind your head on those sloping ceilings and beautiful old beams. With three country pubs within 3-5 miles and a farm shop selling local produce a short walk away, you won’t be short of options at mealtimes. In summer, alfresco dinners in the quaint cottage garden are a must. 

The Thatch

This Grade II-listed cottage appears right out of a storybook. Honey-coloured stone, a roaring fire flanked by bookshelves, and exposed beams create an immediate sense of cosiness and heritage. It's not just all the traditional touches here, though. You'll find all the modern conveniences needed to unwind, from a well-appointed kitchen to streaming services on the smart TV. Outside, a tiered garden is the perfect spot to catch the sunshine or dine alfresco. Keen for a stroll? There are plenty of countryside walks on the doorstep. Or hop in the car and head to picturesque Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water, or Cheltenham – all within easy driving distance.

Hampnett Hideaway

This quaint cottage is the quintessential Cotswolds hideaway. The outside is picture perfect: roses and honeysuckle creep up the walls, built in Cotswolds limestone alongside the classic mint green paintwork. Inside, the exposed stonework and wooden beams have been preserved, while each room is decorated to an exacting standard. The kitchen is a joy to cook in, with sunlight streaming through the window. Chic mid century furniture, rattan rugs and pops of plant life will have you taking notes. 

Upstairs, the pièce de resistance is the standalone bath in the master bedroom, replete with luxury toiletries, where you can soak after a day of exploring. The cottage is nestled in a quiet street in Painswick, a traditional, incredibly pretty Cotswolds village. You are within eight minutes walk of a handful of excellent country pubs, as well as shops and local amenities. The Painswick Rococo garden is a stunning, peaceful place to wander around, complete with a maze, blooming flowers and 18th century architecture, and can be reached in seventeen minutes on foot. There is also a market every Thursday morning in the village, where you can buy food and local wares. 

Queen of The Cotswolds

This 17th-century listed cottage is situated in the village of Great Rissington, a short drive from picturesque Bourton-on-the-Water, while Stow-on-the-Wold is 4 miles away. There’s a pub a very short stroll away or for walkers, the famous Cotswolds Way spans 102 miles starting at Chipping Campden and ending at Bath Abbey. This wisteria-clad home’s private, lawned garden has fantastic views over the Windrush Valley. Inside, there’s all the character you’d expect, including beams, original flagstone floors and an inglenook fireplace with an open fire. This idyllic place promises an unforgettable escape.

Brimming with character, this honey-hued stone cottage is the definition of a Cotswolds charmer. Inside, a cosy fireplace sets the scene for a relaxing stay. We love the mix of traditional features alongside the more contemporary touches – the kitchen is particularly modern and has all the essentials you’ll need. Step outside and you’ll find a small but sunny garden, perfect for morning coffees and evening cocktails. Location-wise, Chipping Campden is 1.5 miles away and offers a range of independent shops, village pubs, and pretty walks through the surrounding countryside.

Primrose & Honey

If your trip to the Cotswolds needs a bit of decadence, then visiting Sudeley Castle should be a top priority. Seeing as Sudeley Castle Cottage is right next door, visiting the beautiful castle grounds will be easy, and thanks to your hosts, you'll also get free admission to the castle and its beautiful gardens. Staying in this fairytale cottage offers you a taste of the high life and a gorgeous view of the green rolling hills and unspoiled landscapes. The historical centre of Winchcombe is only a short fifteen-minute walk away as well, which should set you up for at least a few days of sightseeing – there's so much to discover, from chocolate-box buildings to cute-as-button tea rooms. The home itself is furnished with antiques, original paintings, high-quality soft furnishings, and a lovely collection of books chosen by Lady Ashcroft herself – and you'll love curling up with one of them on the comfy armchairs – we especially love the rustic fireplace that keeps things ultra-cosy. Packed full of character, this cottage seamlessly marries traditional with contemporary – just mind your head on those beautiful old beams and sloping ceilings. When you’re ready to unwind, pick between the roll top bath in the main bedroom, the wood burner for a cosy night in, or take a bottle of wine out to the courtyard to enjoy the peace and quiet of your village location. Locally, it’s a five-minute drive to Bourton-on-the-Water – affectionately named the ‘Venice of the Cotswolds’ – which is well worth a visit.

With a split-level garden, you can relax on the terrace or follow the secret walkway to the manicured lawns – perfect for those bringing their four-legged friends along for the adventure. 

Cotswold Vines

Nestled in the picturesque hillside village of Bourton on the Hill, this country cottage is a charming spot to stay in the Cotswolds. There’s a warm and welcoming living space, complete with wood-burning stove for chilly evenings, and a well-appointed kitchen for making your favourite meals. You’ll also love the luxurious roll-top bath in the downstairs bathroom, and the cosy bedrooms tucked under the eaves. Outside, the garden is shared with a neighbouring home, but you have your own seating area for breakfast and barbecues. Ready to explore? Visit the village pub for a taste of local life or hop in the car and head to nearby Broadway Tower for a scenic stroll and extra-special views.

Everything about this setting captures the magic of the Cotswolds. Consisting of a beautifully restored main house and a neighbouring cottage, this is the perfect spot to relax, slow down and savour quality together. From cosy living rooms with open-fires and board games, to snug bedrooms with flexible sleeping arrangements, you’ll find everything you could need to settle in and make it your own. There is also a private garden, free parking and lots to explore in the surroundings. From here, it’s a short stroll into Weston-sub-edge, while Chipping Campden is less than a ten-minute drive away. 

The Cotswold Dream

This cute-as-a-button cottage in the beautiful village of Poulton is the ultimate Cotswolds hideaway. Think honey-brown stone walls with an A-frame doorway, and a private garden bursting with bloom fit for the Chelsea Flower Show. Spend sunny days gathered together on the lawn, listening to birds sing and breathing in the fresh and flowery scent of the cottage garden.

Inside, it’s an ode to cottage-core living, with wooden beams running along low ceilings and the old stone bread oven in the living room harking back to the cottage's 400-year history. Plush sofas are made all the more cosy with Angora throws, and there’s a small selection of books at the ready for those quieter moments. Downstairs to the rear of the cottage, inspiration has been drawn from the Japanese onsens, manifesting in a garden spa bathroom complete with cedar shingles and exposed brick, which opens out onto a private courtyard. Outside, your hosts’ passion shines through even more, with handmade willow fences and sunshade. To the front of the cottage is a herb and flower-filled garden in which you can spend summer days dining alfresco or lazing about on one of two deck chairs.

Set in the centre of the Cotswolds, you are perfectly positioned for exploring the north and south of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty at your leisure. The picturesque town of Bibury is just a ten-minute drive away, while Roman ruins lie six minutes in the other direction in Cirencester. Closer to home, why not take a stroll to The Gilbertine for a spot of brunch, or try out the Village Inn at Barnsley, or The Crown at Ampney, both just a five-minute drive away.
