If you’re in search of an easygoing Cotswolds getaway, this home makes a great option. You’ll find it’s just a short drive or bus ride into the heart of Gloucester city centre, while Cheltenham is also within easy reach. There is a large private garden and the open-plan living room and kitchen lends itself perfectly to social gatherings. It’s worth noting this home isn’t suitable for infants or children, but we think it makes a great spot for a refreshing adults-only escape.

There's something to satisfy everyone's wanderlust at this charming period cottage nestled right in the beating heart of Chipping Campden. This is your gateway to the best of the Cotswolds – Market Hall, The Spa at Cotswold House and Chipping Campden's bustling high street are all within walking distance. And when it's time to explore further afield, jump in the car and you can be in the chocolate-box villages of Bourton-on-the Water and Stow-on-the-Wold in fifteen minutes flat. 

Back at this cosy home away from home, exposed Cotswold stone walls, higgledy-piggledy beams and a crackling wood-burning stove bring all the charm. While we liked the comfortable bedrooms and sparkling bathrooms, what really blew us away was the impressive kitchen and dining area. It's the true hub of the home, with plenty of room to cook and dine together. We can easily imagine mornings here, the French doors open wide as you sip coffee on the patio and tuck into a lazy breakfast around the dining table. We also loved the techy extras, like nest heating, electronic locks and Google Home Bluetooth speakers. With the occasional bleat from the neighbouring sheep your only distraction, it doesn't get much more charming than this.

A true recipient of the Plum Award, this home has also received the Green Tourism Silver Award, in recognition of this host's dedication to green initiatives such as energy and water efficiency and mindful waste reduction. Your host can share recommendations on local farmers markets and shops selling locally-sourced food, as well as eco-friendly activities such as cycling routes and nature trails to help you enjoy your stay in Chipping Campden, all the while reducing your carbon footprint. It's a win-win.

Outside, the courtyard’s comfortable seating and peaceful surroundings invite you to fire up the gas barbecue and while away the evening. Or enjoy your morning coffee in the lush gardens before a day of exploring – it's just a short drive to dozens of Cotswolds villages. Drive to the achingly quaint market town of Chipping Norton in just thirty-seven minutes with nearby Hook Norton offering great local beers from one of the area's most popular breweries – it's always worth a visit. This is a home where life on the farm is a thrill, and staying in a barn feels the height of luxury.

It’s been restored to the highest standard, with comfortable furnishings and modern amenities including underfloor heating – this is a getaway location for all seasons. In summer, the patio garden is a lovely spot for a cuppa. Staying here, you’ll be close to Burford’s historic high street and will have easy access to the rolling hills and honey-stone cottages of the Cotswolds. You’ll also be able to drive to Oxford to visit the museums as well as being only 30 minutes from Cheltenham to enjoy the races.

Searching for somewhere off the beaten track? It’s time to stop scrolling. Nestled in the Forest of Dean, this home has tranquillity at its core. Perfect for a family, four-legged friends included, the fully-fenced garden offers somewhere to sit back and listen to the sound of nature – just keep an eye on children and dogs, as although the trout pond is fenced with gated access, you can never be too safe. Exploring locally, you can take to the trails through the forest where if you’re lucky, you may even spot some wild boar and deer.

This charming cottage offers a romantic escape for two in the Cotswolds. It’s in the village of Minchinhampton, a market town with pubs and a lively weekly market. There are National Trust walks nearby, in addition to the Gloucestershire countryside. The characterful cottage boasts original features including exposed beams and stonework – it’s a cosy place to call home. There’s a well-equipped kitchen and a pretty patio for dining alfresco when the weather allows.

Situated on a historic private estate in the heart of Gloucestershire, this dreamy cottage is the perfect setting for your next family getaway to the Cotswolds. 

You’d be hard-pressed to find a cosier base than this – boasting a snug living room complete with soft throws and a toasty fireplace, this is the kind of place we all dream of coming home to after a chilly day in the English countryside. Warm up with a cup of tea on the sofa or head upstairs to the family bathroom for a relaxing bubble bath before drifting off to sleep in one of the cottage's quiet bedrooms.

The next morning, start your day with a breakfast of locally produced organic goodies from the local farm shop or – if the weather’s on your side – head out to the garden and soak up some sun. This is the perfect place for little ones and four-legged friends to roam but there’s plenty to explore in the local area if you fancy a change of scenery. Breathe in the sweet scent of lime blossom as you travel down the 800-metre private road leading out of the estate – with Westonbirt Arboretum, Berkeley Castle, and The Cotswold Water Park all within striking distance, you've got plenty of destinations to choose from so why not ditch the GPS and see where the day takes you?

Living on the grounds of a 16th century country-house in the lush green Cotswolds (the largest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) already creates the ideal setting for nature lovers. Once you settle in with biscuits, fresh scones and fruits on arrival (among other goodies) and befriend the curious chickens, embark on a walk through the rolling Cotswold hills and valleys. While Netflix and cocoa are perfect for rainy days in, there is a whole world out there on sunnier days. The Cotswold Way is a trail that we’d definitely recommend, with plenty of historic pubs along the way, each serving their own collection of local ales. The home is located in Painswick, a village known as The Queen of the Cotswolds and characterised by beautiful narrow streets of honey coloured stone buildings dating back to the fifteenth century. Legend has it that the Devil won’t let a hundredth tree grow. There are all sorts of cafes and restaurants in and around the village, so make sure you ask the host, Hannah, for some recommendations.


The Cotswold Cedar

With honeyed stone walls and a Grade II listed status, this bronze South West Award-winning traditional stone cottage is quintessentially Cotswolds. The exposed beams and inglenook fireplaces showcase the building’s considerable heritage (it dates back to 1670), but you’ll find plenty of modern comforts here, as well as cosy styling that favours neutral tones and natural textures. We love that it’s a home for all seasons — stride out on blustery walks in the winter months, before coming back to underfloor heating, a wood burner and thick goose down duvets. In the summer, the British countryside is arguably at its best and here you get access to a large birdsong-filled garden with plenty of shady spots for a gin and tonic. Stargazers are in luck here as there are no streetlights in the local village of Southrop and the Milky Way shines extra bright. And of course, what would a country getaway be without a nearby pub? The Swan can be reached in about three minutes' walk, although the Victoria Inn takes half an hour in case you fancy earning your pint.

Shepherd's Flock

As the name the suggests, this beautifully converted home used to be a dairy, or to be more accurate, a former cheese press. Fully modernised with reclaimed timber floors and underfloor heating throughout, it's now a cosy and comfortable retreat. French doors lead from the sitting room to a flower-filled private garden where you can sit and enjoy a glass of wine while watching the sun go down. As an added bonus, you can pre-order delicious meals from your host during your stay. With plenty of walks and pubs close by, it’s the perfect base for exploring the unspoilt countryside – Bredon Hill and the Malvern Hills are especially lovely. A little further afield are the popular destinations of Stratford-upon-Avon and Cheltenham, both under an hour’s drive away.

Tucked away in the peaceful Hampnett Valley, this cottage is everything you imagine when you picture a classic Cotswolds stay. A rose-framed entrance leads into a warm open-plan space where exposed stone and a range cooker evoke timeless country comfort. Wake to birdsong, enjoy long breakfasts with the French doors open, or unwind on the lawn as the sun slips behind the hills. Walkers will love the Monarch Way on the doorstep, while Northleach’s pubs, delis and shops are just a short stroll away. And when the day’s adventures are done, the glow of the woodburner welcomes you.

In the heart of Bourton-on-the-Water, this home offers a contemporary stay in a charming village. The living space is flooded with light and features a stylish sitting area, a sleek kitchen, and French doors leading to a small garden. Head upstairs and you'll find a collection of comfortable bedrooms, plus an additional lounge. Our favourite room is the main suite on the top floor, boasting its own soaker bath ideal for unwinding. Keen to venture out? A short stroll leads you into the village's pubs, restaurants, and shops. You're also near a historic Anglican church, where the chime of the bells will be the soundtrack to your stay.

With far-reaching countryside views, this stylish Gloucestershire barn conversion is the perfect retreat for families and friends. The large private garden is a great place to relax with its hot tub, paved patio complete with barbecue and alfresco dining table. Inside, the lofty open-plan living space is perfect for entertaining after a day of exploring the Severn Estuary. Located on the outskirts of the quaint village of Aust, the vibrant city of Bristol is reachable by car. Cribbs Causeway shopping mall with its variety of shops, cafes, restaurants and cinemas is also a short drive away.

Located in the charming market town of Cirencester, this Grade II listed cottage is the perfect base for a couple or close-knit group of friends looking to spend some time in the capital of the Cotswolds. Inside, it’s modern yet characterful – we loved the original timber beams, log-burning stove and charming spiral staircase that leads to the cosy second bedroom. Should you have some work to attend to, there’s an office space for you to set up your laptop. 

Wake up with a coffee in the quiet living space before putting together a tasty breakfast in the farmhouse-style kitchen. If the weather is on your side, spill out into the garden and finish cups of tea at the bistro set in the warm sunshine. 

Pull on your comfiest shoes and get to know your surroundings. You’re a seven-minute walk from the indie shops that cluster around Market Place and five minutes from the Barton Lane entrance of Cirencester Park – an excellent place to stop for a picnic. Take a dip in the spring-fed, open-air pool in the heights of the summer, follow bridleways that snake through the unspoilt countryside or jump in the car and spend an afternoon in pretty Bibury, a fifteen-minute drive away.

This cute-as-a-button cottage in the beautiful village of Poulton is the ultimate Cotswolds hideaway. Think honey-brown stone walls with an A-frame doorway, and a private garden bursting with bloom fit for the Chelsea Flower Show. Spend sunny days gathered together on the lawn, listening to birds sing and breathing in the fresh and flowery scent of the cottage garden.

Inside, it’s an ode to cottage-core living, with wooden beams running along low ceilings and the old stone bread oven in the living room harking back to the cottage's 400-year history. Plush sofas are made all the more cosy with Angora throws, and there’s a small selection of books at the ready for those quieter moments. In the dine-in kitchen, a wood-burning stove and flagstone floors whisper of a bygone time. 

Your hosts take great pride in their home, and it shows, with a high level of attention and care evident down to the last detail. Upstairs you’ll find two tastefully coloured bedrooms alongside a gorgeously bright bathroom with a tadelakt finish. Downstairs to the rear of the cottage, inspiration has been drawn from the Japanese onsens, manifesting in a garden spa bathroom complete with cedar shingles and exposed brick, which opens out onto a private courtyard. Outside, your hosts’ passion shines through even more, with handmade willow fences and sunshade. To the front of the cottage is a herb and flower-filled garden in which you can spend summer days dining alfresco or lazing about on one of two deck chairs.

Set in the centre of the Cotswolds, you are perfectly positioned for exploring the north and south of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty at your leisure. The picturesque town of Bibury is just a ten-minute drive away, while Roman ruins lie six minutes in the other direction in Cirencester. Closer to home, why not take a stroll to The Gilbertine for a spot of brunch, or try out the Village Inn at Barnsley, or The Crown at Ampney, both just a five-minute drive away.

With a provided parking space, you'll also be able to explore further afield – just note that it's only suitable for compact vehicles. The design back home is contemporary yet cosy. Everyone can relax together in the open-plan living space, while the two en-suite bedrooms offer privacy. There's also a small terrace ideal for summer sundowners – or better yet, head to the pub up the road for a nightcap.
