Dating back to the sixteenth century, this traditional stone cottage in the Cotswolds is bursting with rustic charm. Plenty of period features remain, including the inglenook fireplace now home to a wood-burning stove and the vaulted ceilings complete with ceiling beams.

However, there have been plenty of home improvements made in the past half-millennium. The beautifully arranged garden is a prime example, with the pergola and patio making it a lovely spot to catch the golden hour. Back inside, the rather grand dining-kitchen area is a modern interpretation of rural design, while we're willing to bet you'll also be thankful for the sleek bathtub after a long ramble.

The local village of Longborough has a twelfth-century church, two pubs and an opera festival that takes place in a converted barn during the summer months. Sezincote House and Garden makes for a splendid afternoon out and is only half an hour away on foot, too.



A Village Retreat

You’ll find this Grade II listed home just a stone’s throw from Stow-on-the-Wold and Lower Swell – in other words, perfectly placed to explore the Cotswolds. Full of charm, it’s the little added luxuries that make this space special for us. A copper bath, wood burner, and a section of glass floor showcasing the source of the spa waters below are just some of the touches you can enjoy. If you’re not soaking up the rolling countryside views from the garden, the nearby hiking trails will have you pulling on your boots and heading out to explore in no time. 

The Pineapple Fountain

Originally a small dairy farm, this stone cottage has stood since it was built in 1685, and although it has undergone extensions and renovations, it has retained much of its charm and now makes for a cosy and inviting port of call for families looking to explore the Cotswolds. 

Set in the heart of Winchcombe, where walking trails will allow you to fully absorb the natural beauty of your surroundings, try the Sudeley Castle Circular for a more leisurely stroll before taking on any of the harder routes. Stop off at one of the stand-out restaurants for lunch and then return home to where understated comfort awaits.

The homeliness mostly comes down to the mix of old and new – find the exposed beams overhead, the brick walls and statement fireplaces, and then sweep your eyes over the glass conservatory and curated art, the furnishings and beautiful colour palette. The entire home has a rustic touch that makes it feel like an elegant farmhouse. 

Pick a spot and get cosy – whether that be in front of the wood-burning stove, in the bright conservatory, or outside where you can enjoy a book and cup of coffee on the manicured lawn. 

Dine alfresco on the terrace, or simply enjoy drinks there at sundown before excusing yourself for a long, luxurious soak in the rolltop bath. At night, watch movies together or play charades at the farm-style dining table before retiring to a cosy bedroom.

Cotswolds Tranquility

Tucked away in the heart of the Cotswolds, this recently-converted former granary with its honey-coloured historic walls is home to industrial-cool interiors featuring bespoke contemporary artwork. 

Sit on the patio with a glass of Champagne or play a game of tennis – there’s an all-weather astro-turf court beyond the terrace – the facilities here are ace. This place is the perfect escape for a few friends or a family.

Just outside the charming village of Temple Guiting, you’re ideally located to explore all that the Cotswolds have to offer. You’ll be surrounded by excellent walking and cycling trails, and many of the area’s most beautiful towns and villages are just a short drive away. Burton-on-the-Water, for example, is a mere fifteen-minute drive away and is known for its patchwork of attractive bridges and charming shops. It’s always worth a visit.



Over The Threshold

Set within the grounds of a 15th-century castle and within walking distance of the Cotswold's town of Winchcombe, the setting of this dog-friendly cottage is a knockout. Inside, the traditional interiors are befitting of this period home, and the wooden deck outside is a nice touch for evening drinks. Though it's worth noting, it's shared with the two neighbouring cottages, so it isn't the most private of spaces. Ready to stretch your legs? The castle and gardens, which you'll have complimentary access to, will keep you busy. Or mosey into charming Winchcombe with it's local inn – just 200 metres from your door.

The Old Forge

Believe it or not, this home actually used to be a barn. There are no animals left, just lots of character and charm. Set in the Cotswolds, in between Stow and Cheltenham, it's part of a larger estate complete with a children's playground and a wonderful on-site pantry that serves excellent coffee and food. A mix of eye-catching antique pieces and quirky art installations, it opens up to a bright, welcoming courtyard that’s perfect for both relaxing and socialising. We also loved the private pool (yes, you read that right), where you can enjoy magnificent views of the surrounding greenery and grassland.

The Bronze Knight

Set in Ford, an attractive hamlet along the banks of the River Windrush, this romantic cottage offers the highest levels of charm and comfort for your Cotswolds escape. It’s hidden away within the grounds of the host’s own home, but offers complete privacy. There’s a small but well-equipped galley kitchen with a Nespresso machine and milk frother for a little luxury morning coffee. But our favourite bit is the four-poster, king-size bed which guarantees a luxurious night’s sleep. just what you need after a day tackling some of the best hiking routes in the Cotswolds. The Cotswolds Way runs right by the cottage and walks around Sudeley Castle are just a few miles away.

Country Honey

Oozing in medieval character with its sixteenth-century facade and original features throughout, Mercia hides a little secret behind its quirky front. You wouldn't expect it, yet a light-filled and contemporary entertaining space features at the back, with fabulous views of the Isbourne Valley and Sudeley Hill. It opens up to a large patio with seating and a barbecue, followed by a long sloping garden, so you can continue admiring the vistas while something nice is grilling and children play on the lawn. 

There are plenty of cosy spaces to retire to after a day of Cotswold exploration – from the sitting room with a charming inglenook fireplace to an inviting roll-top bathtub in the master suite. While you may want to explore the wider area, you could leave your car parked for the duration of your stay, as you're just a few minutes’ walk from award-winning pubs and restaurants, boutiques and delis; if you're after some history and culture, Sudeley Castle is nearby, while the Cotswold Way awaits walkers and nature lovers.

Country Chimneys

Nestled into the Sudeley Castle Estate, fringing the charming village of Winchcombe, you'll find this Cotswold stone 18th Century farmhouse. Spread out over three floors, with a separate annex to spill into, this home is the perfect country escape for an extended family or group of friends. Climb the flight of stairs to discover luxurious bedrooms to sleep all fourteen of you, with crisp, white linens and many with en-suites. Back downstairs, the layout is set up for easy socialising with a spacious kitchen made for action and two dining spaces. But there are also cosy nooks to retreat to, with a separate playroom and snug complete with a crackling fire.  Outside, kids and furry friends alike can roam free on the immaculate lawns, all under the watchful gaze of the grown-ups from the raised deck terrace as you fire up the barbecue. And when it's time to get out and about, you're right on the edge of Winchcombe, with restaurants, shops, and bars just a stroll away, as well as easy access to the area's many breathtaking walking trails. Or call in on your neighbourhoods at Sudeley Castle (ten minutes on foot) – guests have complimentary entrance during the open season, don't you know.

The Crown & Chandelier

Standing along a smart row of 18th Century townhouses in Stow-on-the-Wold, you'll find this Grade II listed home. Don't be deceived by its chocolate-box façade. Step inside, and this ancient property is anything but twee. The four-storey house has been lovingly reimagined into a light-filled space awash in crisp whites, soothing greys and lavenders, and luxurious finishes. The original 1700's features remain (the oak beams and impressive stone staircase is quite something), while elsewhere, everything is firmly into the 21st Century. Climb the stairs to the top floor to discover a marble-clad bathroom with a double walk-in shower and a serene master bedroom boasting a sumptuous emperor-sized bed. At the heart of the home is an immaculate kitchen made for action and a large farmhouse dining table for you to all spill out. But if you don't fancy cooking, you're just a stone's throw to some of the best-known eateries and watering holes in the Cotswolds. While just next door, you'll find the Fosse Gallery – considered one of the best art galleries in the country. Now, how's that for a location?

The Willow House

Only a mile from Winchcombe and Sudeley Castle, this pocket-sized hideaway is a perfect fit for two. We love how cosy and bright the living space is. Whether you're preparing breakfast in the mint green kitchenette, unwinding with a glass of wine on the comfy sofa or snuggling up in the sumptuous bed adorned with a William Morris duvet, you'll feel right at home here. And the views aren't too shabby, either. In the morning, savour a cup of tea and listen to the birdsong on the private patio, overlooking the tree-lined paddock. Evenings call for charcoal barbecues as the sun goes down, followed by glasses of wine under the stars. 

Ramblers will love this rural spot. Public footpaths lead through the rolling countryside towards the Cotswold Way and along the River Isbourne, and with pubs and restaurants in Winchcombe, you'll have everything you need just a stone's throw away. If it's the magic of the Cotswolds you're after, take an afternoon drive to Bourton-on-the-Water – it's twenty-five minutes away.

Cotswold Grace

If your trip to the Cotswolds needs a bit of decadence, then visiting Sudeley Castle should be a top priority. Seeing as Sudeley Castle Cottage is right next door, visiting the beautiful castle grounds will be easy, and thanks to your hosts, you'll also get free admission to the castle and its beautiful gardens. Staying in this fairytale cottage offers you a taste of the high life and a gorgeous view of the green rolling hills and unspoiled landscapes. The historical centre of Winchcombe is only a short fifteen-minute walk away as well, which should set you up for at least a few days of sightseeing – there's so much to discover, from chocolate-box buildings to cute-as-button tea rooms. The home itself is furnished with antiques, original paintings, high-quality soft furnishings, and a lovely collection of books chosen by Lady Ashcroft herself – and you'll love curling up with one of them on the comfy armchairs – we especially love the rustic fireplace that keeps things ultra-cosy. Ideal for large groups, this country-style house offers the usual mod-cons for a comfortable stay, with a sociable kitchen-come-diner for convivial meals together, and homely bedrooms with heaps of Cotswolds charm, so you can wake up feeling fresh and ready for a  morning walk around the scenic country estate.
