Once home to bakers and servants working in nearby Arundel Castle, this colourful cottage is packed full of character. Located in Arundel town centre, you’ll be able to stroll to all the must-sees, including the castle, the cathedral, and the River Arun. The home itself boasts eclectic decor and a private garden – ideal for stargazing on a clear night as you’re near a Dark Sky Reserve. The sleeping arrangements here won’t suit everyone – the second bedroom is in a separate cabin accessed via the garden – and the home isn’t suitable for children aged 2-12. We think this place is a good choice for a two couples, or a family with teens, wanting a unique stay in a central spot.

The Arundel Retreat

Tucked away in the quaint village of Chipperfield – a true slice of hamlet living in the English countryside – this home blends rural comfort with stylish design. When you cross the threshold, the open-plan living space immediately feels like a natural gathering spot – think range cooker meals around the big table, movie nights by the woodburner, and laid-back mornings at the breakfast bar. Outside, the garden is fully enclosed – perfect for dogs and little ones – with a hot tub that invites evening soaks beneath the stars. And the best part? You’re well placed for exploring Hertfordshire’s highlights too, from scenic walks in the Chilterns to Harry Potter magic at Warner Bros Studios, just a short drive away.

Chipperfield Charmer

A three-minute walk from Felpham Beach, this home is ideal for a family trip to the West Sussex coast. Bognor Regis, Chichester, and the South Downs are all within easy reach, so there's something for everyone. Back home, there's plenty to enjoy when you're not exploring. Spend sunny afternoons in the garden, or head inside for board games when the weather turns. Grown-ups will also appreciate the luxurious en-suite, complete with a soaker tub that oozes relaxation. It has an excellent location and all the essentials – that ticks the boxes.

Felpham Fun

This stately and secluded country house is straight out of a Jane Austen novel. Since the 15th century, it's been carefully cared for by the same family, and its long list of notable visitors spans kings, queens and literary figures. You can find traces of heritage everywhere, from the traditional reception rooms (there are eight to choose from) to the stunning walled garden. The sprawling grounds are filled with activities, such as a boating lake, tennis court, croquet lawn, cricket pitch, and heated seasonal swimming pool. With on-site staff ready to help with whatever you need (including a housekeeper and a chef), you’re surely in for a magical stay.

A Noble Legacy

One of a collection of three cottages on a thirteen-acre working farm in West Sussex, this home is nowhere near as rustic as these details might suggest. Step behind the front door and you'll find an interior that's contemporarily styled with a few quirky touches.

The stark white walls and sleek tiling make for a blank canvas against which the colourful cushions and hand-painted kitchen chairs really pop off. As well as that, the modern grey kitchen and pristine bathrooms are a world away from the back-to-basics country cottages that pepper the map in these parts – the rolltop bathtub in particular is sure to make a lot of guests very happy.

When the weather's on your side, there's a private outdoor space with an alfresco table and barbecue, but it's also lovely to wander about the shared parts of the site. The hosts run a private stud and breed native ponies, so if you're lucky, you might see a foal or two during your stay.

The home is blessed when it comes to location, sitting almost equidistantly between South Downs National Park and the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – as you might imagine, there's a wealth of walking routes to embark upon that start straight from the farm or just a short drive away. The seaside isn't too far away, either – you can get over to Worthing in just over half an hour in the car. 



Mane Character

Tucked in the woods just outside the village of Cranleigh, this beautiful home welcomes you to a rural retreat at the base of the Surrey Hills.

Located on the grounds of a home that once belonged to an Arborist, this charming Annexe has been thoughtfully designed to fill your stay with luxurious comfort. And just like the natural beauty of its surroundings, there’s an uplifting quality to this space – it’s the kind of home that makes you want to unpack your bags and settle in. 

From cosy mornings with a coffee on the sofa to energising workouts in the gym, there’s everything you could need here to feel rejuvenated. Days can be spent exploring the beautiful gardens, meeting the resident chickens and following one of the hiking trails into the Surrey countryside. The lovely village of Cranleigh is within walking distance and has all the amenities you could need. 

With your bags full of fresh local produce, you’ll love coming home to this sanctuary in the trees. Put on a playlist, light up the barbecue and enjoy the magic of this unique setting. 

The Song Bird

Taking the whole family on a getaway? This mighty home close to the Dorset coastline has a stupendous amount of space inside and the sort of standout amenities that'll make it a stay to remember. One of the things we really love is that it's truly an address for all seasons, with a wealth of space in the garden when the sun comes out and lots of cosy spots inside if it ever gets chilly. And that's not forgetting the huge number of attractions nearby either, everything from beaches to nature reserves.

Birthday Wishes

Back in the 16th century, this manor home was managed by the Clerk of the Privy Seal to Henry VIII and Elizabeth I. And this apartment within the manor extolls all the extravagance of a Tudor era country retreat. Cross the Italian courtyard to enter and, stepping inside, you’ll find a charming living room adorned with oil paintings and set around an old fireplace. Original wood floors run from here into the kitchen, which has plenty of natural light from the sash window.

The jewel in this apartment’s crown has to be the master bedroom. Decked out in Tudor-style splendour, you can drift off to sleep in the hand-carved four-poster bed, swathed with satin curtains. An exposed brick fireplace would have welcomed weary travellers back in the day and the separate seating area is particularly atmospheric when lit by candlelight. Four further bedrooms all have their own character and style in midnight-blue, sage-green and coral, all packed with plenty of old-world charm. 

Rest, Weary Traveller

Views, traditional charm, and countryside calm – this cottage has it all. Set in the picturesque village of Lavant, it’s just a short drive from Chichester, West Wittering, and the South Downs, making it a brilliant base for exploring. Step inside and you’ll find a cosy sitting room with French doors that open onto the patio – the perfect spot for sunny afternoons. Out here, you’ll love the leafy garden and the private summerhouse, which is a lovely space to relax and soak up the views. For a rural retreat that still keeps you close to the action, it’s hard to beat.

Lovely Lavant

Set on a farm in West Sussex, this charming cottage is the perfect couple’s retreat or solo getaway. The interiors are bright and fun, with pops of block colour punctuating each room. Downstairs there’s a cosy living area with a wood burning stove, which you can put a log on and curl up in front of a film in the evening. The modern kitchen is well stocked for cooking up homely meals, or on warm days fire up the barbecue and enjoy lunch alfresco at the wooden table outside. Look out the kitchen window and you might spot Nellie and Maggie, the shaggy Shetland ponies whose paddock is twenty feet away. Feel free to give them a carrot or two! 

The cottage is on a farm run by your hosts. You are surrounded by the great outdoors here, and you’ll have direct access to footpaths and bridleways which take you through the farm and out into the picturesque countryside beyond. As you walk out, stop by the Stud house, where you can say hello to the native ponies in their stable. The village of Billingshurst is a four-minute drive away, where you’ll find a supermarket and some local country pubs. Pay a visit to the Nyetimber vineyard, a fourteen-minute drive away, and pick up some of their excellent sparkling wine. After a day of exploring, there’s nothing better than enjoying a glass of bubbly back at home as the sun sets over the fields. 

Stud Cottage

Looking for a stylish home with views to impress? This Selsey retreat is just the ticket. Light, bright, and boasting showstopping vistas of the sea, you'll be hard-pressed to find a backdrop as good as this. The patio is perfect for seafront dining and evening cocktails – plus you'll have a front-row seat to incredible sunsets. Inside, the scenery takes centre stage, too, with floor-to-ceiling windows perfectly framing the coast. The beach is just a short walk away, and Chichester is within easy driving distance – if you can tear yourself away from the view, that is.

Salt-Kissed Scenery

You'll find this 18th-century cottage in the heart of the South Downs, nestled on the edge of the illustrious Avington Park. Cosiness personified, the snug sitting room has a crackling wood-burner and squishy sofas that beckon for lounging, either with a glass of wine on chilly evenings or a good book on winter afternoons. A separate drawing room is a perfect spot to gather for family game nights, while the rustic kitchen has everything you'll need to rustle up Sunday roasts to enjoy around the dining table. Upstairs, the three comfortable bedrooms promise a good night's sleep. Our favourite is the third bedroom, with its exposed beams and vaulted ceilings – it has two double beds, making it a great option for kids. 

If you're in the mood to pick up the pace, Winchester is a fifteen-minute drive and has a wide array of shops, restaurants and museums. Or take it slow and enjoy a ramble through the countryside, stopping for a pint and some pub grub at the country inns.
