This idyllic family home will be loved by all ages. The kids will never get bored here: they can spend their days playing football in the garden, bouncing on the trampoline, or splashing around in the paddling pool. There are plenty of rainy day activities, too, with a whole host of board games inside, as well as toys, books, and even a piano to tinker on. 

While there is plenty of entertainment for the youngsters, the house stays elegant thanks to its modern British meets Scandi design. The red brick fireplace, Persian rugs and pops of plant life lend the sitting room a cosy feel, while the main bedroom is set across the top floor and is a sanctuary of calm for the grown ups, with its king size bed, ample wardrobe space and en suite bathroom. There is also a desk beneath the skylights so you can work in peace. 

The house is located in Holybourne, and there is plenty to see in the area. The picturesque market town of Farnham is a ten minute drive away, or you can hop on the Watercress Line steam train which takes you to Alresford, a postcard-perfect Georgian town with quaint tea houses, country pubs and local shops. On sunny days, ramble down one of the public footpaths near the house, through beautiful scenery. There are two playgrounds within walking distance and a big field opposite the house for epic family football games.

This characterful cottage is perfect for a romantic getaway. Set among 80 acres of vineyards, woodland, and fishing lakes, with views as far as the eye can see from the private patio, you’ll feel like you’ve escaped to the country here. We love the unique features inside – like the circular-shaped lounge and curved staircase – and who could resist a relaxing soak in the Jacuzzi bathtub? Location-wise, you’re perfectly placed for hikes and bike rides in the surrounding countryside and for adventures further afield, the market town of Farnham is 11 miles away and historic Winchester is a 20-mile drive.

Being a loft flat, the sunlight pours in from skylights here, and the inclusion of a freestanding bathtub is a welcome addition after a hike. Upstairs, the main bedroom sits under the eaves and boasts a convenient en-suite. Downstairs, the second bedroom can be set up with two singles or one king bed for ultimate flexibility. Most of all, though, we love the location. Set off for a ramble through the surrounding fields, or hop in the car and head to Winchester, Farnham Castle, or Jane Austen's house – all within easy driving distance.

The main home is a delight, with bohemian-style lounge featuring a quaint library and large flat-screen TV. The contemporary kitchen is perfect homely space to come together, with an oak farmhouse-style table dominating the space. The deluxe bedrooms have comfortable double beds, while the luxurious bathrooms are fitted with sumptuous soaking tubs. But our favourite bit? The Old Pigsty. This light-filled marvel has floor-to-ceiling glass panels showing off views of the rolling countryside and nearby polo fields. Inside there's a cinema room, table tennis table and cabinet packed full of children's games, toys and books.

Surrounded by the beauty of the South Downs, this converted barn is as contemporary as it is cosy. Outside, you'll have plenty of space to soak up the sunshine and admire the scenery. Head indoors, and you'll find a living space with beamed ceilings, a wood-burning stove, and an open-plan layout that makes socialising a dream. We think it'll suit families down to the ground, especially since one well-behaved pup is welcome to tag along. With Cheriton, Winchester, and Southampton all within driving distance, we expect there'll be plenty of adventures further afield, too.

Found on the grounds of Elvetham Hotel, a former country house with a croquet lawn, this period cottage marries pleasant touches with an unusual layout. The social areas all receive plenty of light, the living room moving through the kitchen and dining area to the outdoor utility are. While the two upstairs bedrooms offer king-size beds and feel inviting, the annex bedroom has proven an issue for some guests, starting with the sofa bed that's on the smaller side. You'll not only have access to the pleasant green lawn and its seating area, but the hot tub as well, while the hotel's larger gardens can also be accessed. For day trippers, Swinley Forest is thirty minutes away by car.

Beautiful inside and out. This villa's contemporary 1950's Italian-inspired interior gives way to sprawling Hampshire farmland. Watch sheep graze from in and around the private pool or ample outdoor seating. And let the peaceful atmosphere follow you inside by admiring the views through floor-to-ceiling windows. Location-wise, you're a little secluded, which is half the appeal, but Winchester isn't more than a few minutes away by car. Location and looks? You can see why this polished house made it into the collection. Plus, the addition of the private gym and fire pit is another nice touch here.

There's nothing quite like escaping to the country for a few days and this converted stable barn is a million miles away from the stresses of day-to-day life. Bright, open and immaculate in every way, it's a place to relax, take a deep breath of fresh, country air and enjoy the company of your loved ones. Set on the owners' farm, and right next to their stables, you'll have a great view of the horses being fed each morning – something that's bound to excite the children. 

Anything but rustic, the interiors here are stylish and high-end, with wide-plank flooring and plenty of fabulous stripped back timber beams. The huge living space, surrounded on three sides by floor-to-ceiling windows, is the heart of the home, with squashy velvet sofas, a dining table for six and a delightful kitchen. Equipped with everything you could need, keen cooks will be in their element.

Set in the South Downs National Park, with views across the rolling hills, here you'll have your own private lawned garden area and you're welcome to explore the rest of the grounds. It's a twenty-minute walk into the pretty market town of Bishop's Waltham, with its shops and pubs, and don't miss a visit to the ruins of its historic abbey. And it's less than a half-hour drive to both Southampton and Portsmouth.

There are forest walks and cycle trails within easy reach, while it’s just a five-minute drive to the shops and restaurants of the Lexicon – a great option for family entertainment. At full occupancy, one guest will be sleeping on a pull-out bed which might not be ideal for longer stays, but it has all the other essentials you could need for everyday comfort. We like the little garden – a great spot for summer evening drinks.

This address might look effortlessly stylish on the surface, but look a little closer and you'll find that all the home comforts are present and correct. In the living room, for instance, there's a log-burner that you can get crackling while you loll about on the plush sofas facing the warmth. Up in the master bedroom — itself painted in a sultry tone of navy blue — there's an eye-catching copper bathtub that will have you scheduling a long uninterrupted soak into your itinerary. The rest of the house is dotted with house plants — especially in the light and airy kitchen-dining room — but if you want a bit more horticulture, head out into the private patio space, which is lined with flourishing beds and potted foliage. There's plenty of seating out here for taking full advantage of bursts of unseasonable weather, as well as a barbecue in case you're truly lucky. Even better is the fact that Chichester's main landmarks are within such easy walking distance. The Cathedral takes five minutes to reach, as does the town's castle.

One of a collection of three cottages on a thirteen-acre working farm in West Sussex, this home is nowhere near as rustic as these details might suggest. Step behind the front door and you'll find an interior that's contemporarily styled with a few quirky touches.

The stark white walls and sleek tiling make for a blank canvas against which the colourful cushions and hand-painted kitchen chairs really pop off. As well as that, the modern grey kitchen and pristine bathrooms are a world away from the back-to-basics country cottages that pepper the map in these parts – the rolltop bathtub in particular is sure to make a lot of guests very happy.

When the weather's on your side, there's a private outdoor space with an alfresco table and barbecue, but it's also lovely to wander about the shared parts of the site. The hosts run a private stud and breed native ponies, so if you're lucky, you might see a foal or two during your stay.

The home is blessed when it comes to location, sitting almost equidistantly between South Downs National Park and the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – as you might imagine, there's a wealth of walking routes to embark upon that start straight from the farm or just a short drive away. The seaside isn't too far away, either – you can get over to Worthing in just over half an hour in the car.

Set on a farm in West Sussex, this charming cottage is the perfect couple’s retreat or solo getaway. The interiors are bright and fun, with pops of block colour punctuating each room. Downstairs there’s a cosy living area with a wood burning stove, which you can put a log on and curl up in front of a film in the evening. The modern kitchen is well stocked for cooking up homely meals, or on warm days fire up the barbecue and enjoy lunch alfresco at the wooden table outside. Look out the kitchen window and you might spot Nellie and Maggie, the shaggy Shetland ponies whose paddock is twenty feet away. Feel free to give them a carrot or two! 

The cottage is on a farm run by your hosts. You are surrounded by the great outdoors here, and you’ll have direct access to footpaths and bridleways which take you through the farm and out into the picturesque countryside beyond. As you walk out, stop by the Stud house, where you can say hello to the native ponies in their stable. The village of Billingshurst is a four-minute drive away, where you’ll find a supermarket and some local country pubs. Pay a visit to the Nyetimber vineyard, a fourteen-minute drive away, and pick up some of their excellent sparkling wine. After a day of exploring, there’s nothing better than enjoying a glass of bubbly back at home as the sun sets over the fields.

Nestled between two islands on the picturesque banks of the River Thames – this beautiful thatched Edwardian home built in 1903, under a fifteen-minute drive from Windsor, is the perfect riverside retreat. Watch the boats, ducks and swans on the river go by from your own private heated pool. Lawns stretch down to the water – perfect for a game of croquet or challenge someone to a game of table tennis. There’s also a multipurpose play area for any younger children.

Inside, you'll see more of those divine riverside vistas. There are two living rooms and plenty of space for entertaining your family or friends. We love the master bedroom’s balcony, but a real highlight of this home for us was the bedroom attached to the side of the house on stilts. It’s constructed out of 19th century beams from one of the last pioneering ships bound for Australia and contains beautiful carvings and unique features from this period.

When you want to explore, your hosts can help arrange River Thames boat trips to pick you and your guests up directly from the garden. There’s also a lovely pub in the nearby village of Wraysbury, a ten-minute walk away. As well as close proximity to Windsor and Eton, Ascot racecourse is just over twenty minutes in the car and Thorpe Park, a fifteen-minute ride, while Henley, which hosts the Royal Regatta is forty minutes. If you visit London, Slough train station (a fifteen-minute drive away) runs services to London Paddington, the fastest being fourteen minutes.

Glamping never looked so good than at this charming cabin nestled within a wild-flower meadow of a 2500-acre family-owned farm estate. Don't be fooled by its unassuming aluminum exterior. Inside, the cabin is surprisingly spacious and lovingly converted by your hosts to provide all the creature comforts. Expect spotless interiors with a well-equipped traditional kitchen complete with a Belfast sink, a neat en-suite shower, and luxurious Egyptian linens on the king-sized bed and bunk beds for the kids. A welcome hamper brimming with local goodies, including milk, eggs, freshly baked bread, and marshmallows for those obligatory s'mores, will help to settle you in. And you'll bank a blissful night's sleep here – your only neighbours are the occasional peacock or deer strutting by. While away your days watching nature unfold outside on the terraces - the private elevated balcony looking out into surrounding woodland (a great spot for den building) is a beautiful place for a cuppa. Or don your hiking boots for a country walk – perhaps with a pit stop at the welcoming local pub (within walking distance) for a swift pint. Just be sure to make it home for dusk as the sun sets over the surrounding countryside. Placed in one of the UK's largest 'dark-sky' areas, there's much stargazing to be done while getting toasty beside the firepit.

Situated on a small family-run agricultural nursery, we think this luxury lodge is the perfect place to switch off and recharge. Not only is the location excellent – the idyllic South Downs are practically on your doorstep – but the attention to detail here is second-to-none. Rainfall showers and eco-friendly toiletries in the bathrooms, Netflix on the smart TVs and a panini maker in the kitchen are just a few of the things we love. The design is impeccable with blue velvet, dark greys and lots of wood. It's the perfect blend between rustic, country living and contemporary comforts, with chic furniture handmade by host Lucca. Speaking of, he'll leave a welcome hamper brimming with goodies for you to enjoy, and depending on the season, it'll contain fresh Italian fruit and veg grown on their farm. 

Days start and end here out on the deck, enjoying alfresco breakfasts in the sun and evening dips in the private hot tub. In between, set off and explore the local area – just walk out the front gates and you're on the National Trust South Downs footpath, leading towards Highdown Hill. A fourteen-minute walk away is the local pub, a few eateries and shops in Ferring, and it's only a five-minute drive to the beach. And with Worthing, Chichester and Brighton all less than an hour by car, you'll have plenty of options for adventures around West Sussex.

This cosy cabin is the perfect little bolthole for couples wanting to escape to the country. The location right at the heart of the New Forest means you’ll feel miles away from the stresses of daily life – as you fly down country lanes on your bike, you’ll feel your worries melting away. 

The cabin is just outside of Brockenhurst, in an area that feels secluded but isn’t too far from the nearest shops. You can stroll to the pub in fifteen minutes, which is a welcome sight after a day spent hiking the trails. A four-minute drive will get you to beautiful Beaulieu, which is well worth an afternoon strolling around after lunch in a cafe. The abbey is just six minutes from the cabin – the tranquil ruins are always popular with history buffs. 

If you need an ice cream on the beach for it to feel like a holiday, you’re in luck. Fifteen minutes by car will have you on a sandy shore, though we can’t guarantee it’ll be paddling weather. 

For us, the real joy of this cabin is its countryside setting. Walking just five minutes from the front door will see you on walking and cycling trails. When your feet start to feel sore, head back to the cabin to soak in the luxurious claw-foot tub before spending the evening in front of the fire. Absolute bliss.

This pretty farm building conversion offers all the independence of a private cottage with its own garden, with the added bonus of communal grounds where children can run free. Ideal for families, it's part of a small complex of similar homes just a five-minute walk from the nearest beach. Comfortable and smart, the single-storey cottage shows off its heritage with a stable door, high ceilings, oak beams and skylights, while the open-plan living space is perfect for keeping an eye on the kids as you whip up meals in the country kitchen. Bedrooms are cosy and relaxing, and we love the double doors that open out into the garden from the master bedroom. Outside, make use of the barbecue in your enclosed garden, or take the kids to the communal play area. With a fort, swings and a sunken trampoline, it's bound to be a hit. Walk to some of the area's best beaches from your doorstep, stroll to the local pub and head off on all sorts of adventures around the island by car.

This apartment makes for an excellent base in Swindon. It’s bright and comfortable, equally well suited to visits for work as to family breaks. It’s petite but well furnished with everything you might need for a short stay.

If you don’t fancy cooking, you’re in luck, as the apartment is on a street bustling with bars, restaurants and independent shops. You’ll have plenty to choose from when it comes to dining out.

They say that first impressions are everything and we defy anybody not to be wowed upon laying eyes upon this Georgian property close to the West Sussex – the handsome brickwork, large sash windows and manicured front garden give off a real air of grandeur.

We're happy to report that this attention to appearance continues inside. The design treads the fine balance between heritage and modernity rather adroitly, with antique furnishings and decorative items sitting quite happily alongside more contemporary artworks and a smart kitchen. As well as looking the part, you won't struggle to get cosy in the pair of living rooms, complete with shelves packed full of books, a fireplace and a grand piano next to the bay window.

Nor will there be any difficulty in finding somewhere to unwind in the large garden during bursts of warm weather. Little ones will love bouncing about on the trampoline, while there's a large alfresco table that is the perfect setting for an alfresco dinner party – as well as a barbecue to help make that a reality.

If you're ever in need of ingredients, there's a farm shop just next door to the home. You don't have to go far to find distractions, either. The seaside village of Selsey is just over five minutes' drive away and there's a great choice of beaches in the local area, including West Wittering about twenty minutes away in the car. The cathedral city of Chichester takes a similar amount of time northwards, too.

Renovated in the style of Caruso St John (the famed architects behind the Tate Modern), it's a striking tribute to modern, eco-friendly design – solar panels and a heat source pump power the heating and hot water. The inside is just as dramatic, with copper light fittings, high-design furniture and large picture windows that make the most of the garden views. All the mod-cons are accounted for, including rain showers, a home-cinema projector and underfloor heating to keep chilly toes at bay. Throw a log on the wood-burner for extra cosiness and snuggle up in the window seat with a good book. Outside there's even more to love, including a private pool, leafy garden and a calisthenic gym space that works as a yoga or kickboxing studio. After a morning workout and a dip in the pool, enjoy a walk around Manor Bottom, or if you want to stretch your legs even more, the seaside town of Ventnor is a forty-minute walk away. But our favourite part were the hosts. The amount of love Steven and Agnieszka put into making their guests' stay extra special is quite something. No detail has been overlooked, be it organic toiletries, a welcome hamper filled with local jams and chutneys or arranging on-site massages. They even go the extra mile to carefully curate books and music for each individual guest – safe to say, you'll be in excellent hands.
