If you’re feeling energetic, you can borrow bikes from your host to explore the surrounding area, or use their tennis court which is a mile away. And for a slice of village life, take the 1-mile stroll to Pembridge where you’ll find a tea shop and historic pub.

The Chestnut Barn

This delightful holiday home can be found on an equine stud farm in the quaint village of Birdwood. Perfect for a rural escape, it’s close to the Cotswolds and the beautiful countryside of Gloucestershire. You’ll also be just a short drive from Gloucester, where you can shop, dine out, and visit the stunning cathedral. The stylish home features an attractive open-plan living and dining space, with a well-equipped, modern kitchen. There are two gardens, one with a front patio for dining in warmer months. Best of all, there’s a hot tub, ideal after a hike. 

Birdwood Hideaway

Eye-feasting sight of Monmouthshire's green waves provides a charming backdrop to this picturesque Jacobean farmhouse. Period features blend seamlessly with modern touches across its four-tier structure. Antiques, artistic curios and comfortable fabrics create a distinctive aura. The property offers a tech-fitted games room, smart TVs and a Sonos system, ensuring guests have everything they need for entertainment. Four tempting bedrooms plus one make it an ideal retreat for families or friend groups. The meticulous design even extends to luxurious bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen-diner. Step outside into beautiful gardens and a serene terrace under the watchful gaze of St Nicholas Church, making it an enticing retreat for outdoor enthusiasts as well as peace seekers. The local pub serving delicious food and engaging live music is just a few steps away. Its prime location makes it an excellent starting point to explore the Great Outdoors that surround Grosmont.

Design lovers will appreciate this William Morris inspired apartment. Alongside the colourful display of prints and patterns, there are plenty of home comforts. The living room makes it easy to relax or catch up on work, while the bedrooms are cosy and comfortable. Plus, the location couldn’t better for explorations across Ludlow. Outside, it’s a short stroll into the historic centre and you’ll find a great selection of restaurants, cafes and shops within easy reach. Another perk is the private parking – making this a great option if you’re travelling by car. 


The Peacock & Nightingale 

Nestled among the Herefordshire hills, this handsome house is a rural retreat you’ll really love. There’s elegance at every turn, from the drawing room overlooking the surrounding scenery, to the warm and welcoming kitchen which has space for casual meals. Period charm pairs perfectly with modern comforts, like the media room, and there’s a practical boot room too (handy after a country stroll). It’s the ideal home to host an extended family or group of friends – great for a special occasion, or for a grand getaway to the country.

The Great Retreat

This grade II listed Georgian House in Ludlow is everything we look for in a quiet village getaway. Rebuilt and lived in by former glove makers from the late 1600s, this home is steeped in history, dating back to the Civil War – and doesn't it show. There are heaps of original features to these cosy digs. We especially love the handmade oak doors, wood beam ceilings and intricate fireplace that have been professionally restored by master craftsmen. While these period features add interest, the comfy living room is our favourite spot, with its realistic optimyst stove and large L-shaped sofa. Toast up those toes in front of the fire with a good book and a glass of wine in hand – you'll feel all warm and homely in no time at all. Step outside of this 17th-century building and explore one of the loveliest market towns in England that's positively brimming with listed buildings, medieval castles and striking churches. Take a short twelve-minute walk up Corve Street to the town centre and explore this historic place for yourself. 

Hand In Glove

Located at the end of a long private track, you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d taken a wrong turn, passing through a golf course and woodland. This stately home sits amid manicured lawns, with uninterrupted views across the wild Herefordshire hills. Travelling in a large group? There’s room for all 24 of you to pile in, with ten bedrooms in the main house, two more in a separate cottage, and an additional building with a boot room, playroom, and extra bathroom. You’ll feel a world away from it all, but when supplies run low, Tillington is just five minutes away – while Hereford, Ludlow, and Hay-on-Wye make for perfect day trips.

Hereford Hideaway

Tucked away, off a country road close to Ledbury, this charming little home comes as quite a surprise. With its rural surroundings and nearby grazing sheep, its bold industrial styling is a real statement, with deep hues on the walls and lots of reclaimed wood. Vaulted ceilings, exposed brickwork and wooden beams add plenty of character but it's touches like the vintage radiators, scaffold pole headboard in the bedroom and the exposed copper pipework in the bathroom that make this place really sing. 

Somewhat upside-down in its layout, the main living space is on the top floor, with direct access to the pretty garden – a private sanctuary. Lounge on the leather sofa, cook in the stylish kitchen area or eat at the table in front of the patio doors. For extra snugness, there's a second lounge on the lower floor, complete with an electric fire for cosy film nights. And while we love the bedroom here, with its sumptuous mattress and faux fur throws, it's the bathroom that stole our hearts – its copper bathtub is a real showstopper.

From here it's a just four-minute drive to the pretty town of Ledbury, and keen walkers will be in their element with the Malvern Hills, the Cotswolds, the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean all within an hour's drive. If you're here during the autumn, you can ask for access to the neighbouring orchard, where you can help yourself to some seasonal fruit, and you can even treat yourself to a private yoga lesson – your host is an experienced instructor.

Hygge of Herefordshire

This Ludlow home has plenty to offer. To begin with, there's the location. A twenty-minute walk from the town centre and its famous castle, you'll be able to discover the area's cafes, boutiques, and restaurants with ease. At home, you'll find a stylish living space with all the essentials – just what's needed for a carefree stay. There's also a garden where you can enjoy a tipple or two in the sunshine. Convenient, contemporary, and comfortable – the perfect combination.

Ludlow Love

Originally built in the 1690s, this period home on the Worcestershire-Shropshire border has been lovingly restored to blend heritage charm and contemporary comfort. The timber beams and lattice windows are a reminder of days gone by, while modern luxuries like the hot tub and firepit ensure an extra-special stay. After days spent exploring the local countryside, come back to this rural retreat to relax – in front of the fireplace on cosy winter evenings, or outside in the garden sipping summer sundowners. 

Bygone Charm

Like something out of a fairy tale, this gatehouse stands guard on a Grade I listed estate in Herefordshire. From the embattled walls to the iron gate, the exterior oozes heritage. Step inside, however, and you'll find cosy interiors packed with a range of contemporary comforts. Steep wooden stairs lead up to the living area, where a log burner invites you to unwind with a glass of wine. On summer evenings, pad out to the rooftop terrace for views that span across the countryside towards neighbouring Wales. There's also a private garden as well as a pub down the road – everything you need and more.
