A delightfully quaint bolthole set in the beautiful Kent countryside, this home's modern black facade is complemented by a rustic and quirky interior. Glass-fronted and beaming with sunlight all year round, the bright living space is warm and welcoming from the moment you arrive. The fully-equipped kitchen has soft wooden tables and open shelves, creating a homely and relaxing space to gather over a homecooked meal. It opens onto the trendy and whimsical lounge, with its yellow armchair and eclectic decorations. We loved the garden most of all – slide open the glass doors and step outside into the fresh air. Outside, you'll find an alfresco dining area – the perfect spot to tuck into the cake host Georgina leaves for you – and a cosy lounge area surrounding an open-air fire pit, which is ideal for enjoying a moment of calm while watching the sunset. You may even spot the resident kingfisher as it flies from the pond. When you're ready for sleep, drift off in the plush beds in the country-style bedrooms, then wake up feeling well-rested and ready to explore Kent. You're perfectly located for adventures – make the twenty-minute drive to the coastal Dungeness National Nature Reserve or reward yourself after a stroll with a pint in one of the delicious pubs nearby.

And you can always pop back to rustle up a picnic when tummies start to rumble or stroll along to the acclaimed Sportsman pub to feast on oysters. Wake up with invigorating strolls along the nearby coastal paths. Rustle up a picnic for the beach, or head into Sandgate for a dose of seaside nostalgia with fish and chips and lashings of ice cream. When it’s time for a spot of shopping and culture, mosey along to the cobbled streets of Folkstone, where you’ll find bustling restaurants, gastropubs, and the thriving artist quarter. Back at home, maritime curiosities bring coastal charm, while a dramatic mural painted by Kent artist Oliver Trowell brings drama and a dash of colour to the space. After busy days exploring the Kent coast, soak weary legs in the Jacuzzi bathtub. Then pad out onto the south-easterly facing terrace, fire up the barbecue and nestle down in the charming pergola. Two of the things that the Kent town of Deal is most famous for is its castle and stretch of pebbly coastline. As it happens, both of these things are visible through the big bay window in the lounge of this apartment. Back inside, the decor is simple, but every aspect has been executed so well. Wooden floorboards and white walls provide a classy backdrop against which colourful furnishings and photographic artwork pop off. The kitchen is pretty large considering the address is only for two, so you'll be able to flex your culinary muscles with no trouble. The presence of a bathtub is also sure to be appreciated after a long day frolicking about on the beach, which sits at the end of the street. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants within walking distance, too.

We could tell this exquisite home, in the heart of the East Sussex countryside, is owned by an interior photographer – it's picture-perfect. We love the attention to detail that has gone into this place. It's been designed with entertainment in mind – relax in the hot tub in the secluded south-facing garden with a glass of Sussex fizz, dine under the shade of the vine-covered pergola or sunbathe on the loungers. Play croquet on the extensive lawn or simply spot the wildlife – if you're lucky, you may see rabbits, badgers and the occasional deer. 

Inside, there are even more options to keep your family or friends occupied. Listen to some music on the Bluetooth sound system, channel your inner Mozart at the electric piano or bang out some rhythms on the drum kit. If music isn't your thing, watch a movie in the cinema room or play some table tennis. After all that activity, unwind by the open fire if it's chilly, read a book on the Barcelona-style chair or have a soak in one of the freestanding baths. 

With so much to do here, you may not find the time to explore, but if you do, you'll be rewarded with magnificent beaches and charming towns. Hastings, with its bars, cafes and music scene, is just over fifteen minutes by car, while it's the same distance to Rye. Camber Sands is Twenty-five minutes, while Great Dixter House and Gardens, built by architect Edwin Lutyens, is a ten-minute drive.

Positioned directly on Dungeness's public beach, this former foghorn testing station has been fully renovated into a unique getaway for two. The nearby lighthouse's foghorn still works, although we much prefer the idea of waking up to the sound of the waves and seagulls. The sea is literally on your doorstep, and huge glass doors and a small terrace maximise the idyllic views. It's more of a studio than a one-bed, but we like the single-level layout. Although phone signal is patchy here and there's no proper TV, there is wi-fi for remote working and streaming. That said, the Bose speaker system, wood burner and teak bathtub are all you need to truly unwind.

Let’s face it – it’s that ginormous indoor private pool and state-of-the-art Swedish sauna taking all the limelight at this barn conversion property, and rightly so. It’s a luxury few expect for a home nestled away in the quiet Kent countryside. In warmer months, slide the bifold doors right back to let the sunshine in and enjoy views of the pristinely manicured gardens beyond. You could easily while away the whole day – in fact, the entire week - padding between the pool, sauna, and outdoor sun loungers, with an occasional barbecue thrown in, to spice things up. And there are more welcome surprises inside this home too. The spacious light-filled lounge and dining area overlooks the swimming pool – handy for keeping an eye on poolside antics even when you’re indoors. And upstairs, there’s a secondary lounge with Juliet balcony doors revealing views of the gardens and distant rolling fields. With such vast countryside views, you could feel a million miles from anywhere here, but you’re not as remote as you first thought. The pretty neighbouring villages all have excellent pubs serving hearty food, and the bustling cathedral town of Canterbury is just over a twenty-minute drive away. And let’s not forget the coast - pack up a picnic, and you can be on the sweeping sandy shores of Folkestone in thirty minutes flat.

This enchanting home is perfect for large family groups. The home is split between the main house – which sleeps ten – and a cosy cottage for two, ideal for a couple seeking a touch more privacy. There are plenty of quiet corners for moments of peace on this 15th-century estate, with excellent walks to enjoy right from your front door – your four-legged friends will love it here. The heated swimming pool and tennis court mean there’s lots to keep little ones entertained, too.

A stone’s throw from Camber Sands, this stylish home takes beach shack to glamorous new heights, making it the perfect coastal retreat for friendly get-togethers and extended families. 

The interior is characterfully designed using reclaimed and antique materials, offering a revitalised version of seaside chic. The host is evidently a fan of up-cycling – look out for creative touches such as repurposed doors, stain-glass windows and rustic radiators. We especially love the wood-panelled walls and flooring that shape the space as a whole, while the comfortable furnishings, neutral tones and wood-burning stove keep things cosy. 

Here, as much attention has been paid to comfort as it has to style – drift off to sleep beneath Egyptian cotton bed linen or relax on leather sofas in the sitting room. But, don’t spend too much time inside as this home is close to an expansive sandy beach. Enjoy exclusive use of a private “No Through” sandy road, with access only to residents, and walk to the sand dunes in two minutes. End the day with early-evening sundowners on the front porch, sharing anecdotes and listening to the waves lapping in and out of the shore, before heading into the local village for a spot of traditional pub grub, five minutes away on foot.

It's not just the mid-century furniture and muted colour palette in this home that takes influence from the Scandinavians. Out in the garden, there's an electric-powered sauna, as well as a bathtub on the patio that you can fill with cold water for the full authentic experience. Once you've finished flitting between the two, you can rest up in the cosy summer house. The host has put together a list of local therapists and this private space is perfect for treatments. Back inside, there's plenty of equipment to keep those particular about their coffee happy, including an espresso machine, milk frother, percolator, grinder and fresh beans from a local roaster. When you're feeling suitably caffeinated, the charming seaside town of Margate is waiting to be explored. The main beach takes about a quarter of an hour to reach on foot, as does the Dreamland Amusement Park, which often hosts concerts, club nights and events.

With so much to discover about the rich history and nature of Kent, it would make sense to base yourself in a somewhat historic setting. A twelve-minute walk from Martin Mill train station, in a tiny village of the same name, this home is not only ideal for history buffs, but anyone who is a fan of a tipple. Built in 1610, this traditional boozer hosts locals every evening, but can also play host to four guests in its private apartment. Above this working pub, pick up a pint of English ale to sample before making your way around this striking abode. You’ll find rich leather sofas, vintage upholstered armchairs, a gramophone, Persian rugs, and cabinets and shelves full of curios. A truly unique stay, this home really transports you back hundreds of years, steeped in British tradition and exactly the eclectic vibe you’d hope for. Finish your pint in the back garden, with its picnic benches and lush lawns, where you'll probably find yourself chatting to one of the regulars. If you fancy an escape from pub life, drive ten minutes to Dover – visit its medieval castle, or admire its iconic White Cliffs.

With its cosy wood burner and peaceful, rural location, it’s impossible not to relax here. Nestled in the heart of Twitton, between the villages of Otford and Shoreham, you’ll find scenic walks aplenty in the local area, along with country pubs offering sustenance after you’ve burnt off a few calories hiking. Further afield, there are several National Trust properties worth visiting, or a vineyard within walking distance – there’s something for everyone here.

On My Radar 

Style meets comfort in this wonderfully located apartment in Margate. Designed in a chic, boutique-style manner, the whole space feels brilliantly modern while retaining a sense of vintage charm that so aptly reflects Margate’s seaside fame. We love the bright living room with its large windows that provide the most spectacular sunset views across the Winter Gardens and out towards the sea, best enjoyed on the sofa with a glass of wine or through the handy telescope provided. Full of fun decorative details that subtly nod to the coast, this space is made for relaxation and easy-going socialising. Our other favourite spot for sea-sighting is in the beautiful master bedroom where an armchair invites you to curl up on it with a good book and enjoy the rolling of the waves from yet another angle. Factor in the sunny kitchen and the sparkling blue and white bathroom and you’ve got everything you need for a blissful coastal break. Outside of your home, you’re just a six-minute walk from the Turner Contemporary art gallery, an eight-minute stroll from the Main Sands beach, while the Dreamland Margate amusement park is fifteen minutes on foot from your door.

Set at the foot of the Dungeness roundhouse, this former lighthouse keeper’s cottage makes for the ultimate escape from the city. There are unspoilt views of the rugged landscape, and several nearby coastal paths to explore on foot, with plenty of local pubs en-route. The home is fresh, bright, and modern. Curl up on plush sofas and chairs in front of the log burner with a film or board game. The kitchen is super sleek and the dining space is the best spot to gather and relax while preparing food or drinks. Lofty glass doors that lead out to the garden, where one can catch the early sun with a morning coffee. For unwinding indoors, the freestanding bathtub is an elegant touch. However you spend your days, this home will be your haven.

Set within a peaceful garden, there’s an abundance of space to relax, socialise and savour quality time together both inside and out. Take your morning coffee out into the small courtyard and enjoy the peace and quiet as you take your very first sip. Dine out there when the weather plays ball, and when it doesn’t, you can always kindle a fire and play board games or watch a movie together. 

There’s a number of boutique shops and cafes around to explore when you’re out and about, and with the local pub only a stone’s throw away, you can swing by on most days for a lunch and a pint.

The home is ideally located for a large family or group of friends wanting to explore the 'garden of England' – with Ramsgate Harbour and the beach just a stroll away. Nearby, you can experience all the fun of the fair at Dreamland – home to the UK's oldest rollercoaster – or admire stunning works of art in the Turner Contemporary, both on Margate's seafront. The town is also home to a host of Michelin-recommended restaurants, serving up everything from authentic Italian fare to fresh fish straight out of the North Sea.

The seafront is lined with beachy cafés, seafood restaurants and good old fashioned fish and chip shops. Build sandcastles and paddle in the sea knowing it’s just a three-minute walk back to this home if you forget the sunscreen. The home itself is pristine white with cosy furnishings. The snug living room is set around a wood-burner and there’s an ample vinyl collection if you want to set the mood with the record player. There are board games a-plenty and books for all ages scattered across the bookshelves. The breakfasting kitchen is big and bright, with glass doors that fold back to reveal the cute back garden where a picnic bench is brightened by stringed lights at night. Our favourite thing about this place is the claw-footed tub, perfect for a bath after a day on the beach.

It’s rare that a house in Whitstable has a garden this big, but that’s the bonus of being on the outskirts of town. True to any seaside sanctuary, there are deck chairs in the garden to soak up the sun and outdoor dining set up on rattan furniture. A big lawn allows kids to run free. 

Inside, the social space is huge. A mezzanine balcony and double-height ceiling in the open-plan living area created a sense of space and we love the boho and scandi-chic seating for all the family. A breakfast bar and kitchen island of raw wood mean there’s oodles of prep space and dining is at a rustic wooden table with bench-style seating. Bedrooms are massive, and kids will love the higglety pigglety layout of single beds secreted away beneath eaves and on mezzanine levels.

You’re on the outskirts of Whitstable, a twenty-minute walk (or five-minute drive) from the seafront where beach huts line the sand and fishing boats bob in the harbour. Here you’ll find plenty to see and do with fish and chip restaurants and ice cream shops galore. Outdoorsy types should hit the Crab and Winkle Cycle Way, right from the home’s doorstep.
