This home in the seaside town of Herne Bay is the perfect getaway for beach holidays, whether the sun is shining or whether you’re caught in the British rain. We would love to start our mornings here with a fresh coffee from the pod machine and enjoy it alfresco on the outdoor decking, breathing in the salty sea air for an invigorating wake-up call. 

Then wander ten minutes to the seafront and pier to spend the day beside the sea. Or if the rain is pouring and you would rather stay cosy inside, why not grab your holiday reading and settle down in the loft-converted lounge space, which even offers incredible sea views?

In the evening, dine on fish and chips on the seafront, fire up the barbecue on sunny evenings and enjoy a family cook-out, or even sit back and relax in the garden while a private chef takes care of everything. Then, unwind, and relax in the soothing bubbles of the hot tub, with a glass of wine in hand, for the ideal end to the day. 

Bloom of the Bay

You’ll have a heated swimming pool to look forward to, in addition to a tennis court. The house itself perfectly blends antique finds with modern comforts, so you’ll have everything you need for a cosy stay. Best of all, your four-legged friends are welcome to join you – and you don’t even need to leave the estate for delightful walks. 

Lavish Retreat

An utterly unique stay awaits you at this quirky apartment based in the heart of Maidstone, close to all the city centre attractions. This funky flat features jungle-themed boho décor throughout, including lush green foliage, animal artwork and a stunning water feature. This apartment also has all the modern amenities and fancy furnishings you need to make your stay as convenient and comfortable as can be. 

Wake up each morning and tuck into a delicious full English breakfast on your cute dining setup before venturing out and seeing what Maidstone has to offer. Maidstone Museum is right on your doorstep, as well as the shopping centre, and plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars to check out. There’s also some gorgeous countryside walks around the area, including one to Leeds Castle (believe it or not, it's in Maidstone!) where you can soak up some history.

After long days exploring the area, return to your trendy dwelling and tuck up in your cosy bed for a comfy night’s sleep, or cook up a delicious meal before heading back out to see what Maidstone’s nightlife has to offer.


Tropical Canopy

It's not just the mid-century furniture and muted colour palette in this home that takes influence from the Scandinavians. Out in the garden, there's an electric-powered sauna, as well as a bathtub on the patio that you can fill with cold water for the full authentic experience. Once you've finished flitting between the two, you can rest up in the cosy summer house. The host has put together a list of local therapists and this private space is perfect for treatments. Back inside, there's plenty of equipment to keep those particular about their coffee happy, including an espresso machine, milk frother, percolator, grinder and fresh beans from a local roaster. When you're feeling suitably caffeinated, the charming seaside town of Margate is waiting to be explored. The main beach takes about a quarter of an hour to reach on foot, as does the Dreamland Amusement Park, which often hosts concerts, club nights and events.

Fika & Sauna

In the buzzing seaside town of Whitsable, this charming cottage is perfectly placed for exploring the Kent coast. There are two bathrooms here, making it the ideal home for a pair of couples or a small family, while the garden provides a sunny spot to get some fresh air while the kids blow off some steam. You’re welcome to bring your canine companion along, too, and there’s no need to worry about where to go with so many dog-friendly beaches and cafes close by. Did you know that Whitstable has a thriving arts scene? Creatives will appreciate the array of local art galleries and pubs featuring live music. 


The Artist's Abode

If a sea view is what you're after, this home will not disappoint. Perched on a clifftop in Birchington-on-Sea, the coastal scenery can be admired from most of the rooms. Our favourite viewpoint is the conservatory – we can't think of a better spot to enjoy a cup of tea and watch the tide roll in. Outside, the fuss-free garden offers space for kids and pups to let loose. Ready to explore? Birchington has two tidal shores that are ideal for walking and rockpooling. For a proper day at the beach, we suggest heading over to Margate, just 4 miles away.

Halcyon Horizons

Sea views and a hot tub — need we say more? This dog-friendly stone cottage was once part of the late comedian Spike Milligan’s home and, while it can be rented alongside the adjoining cottage for larger groups, we think it makes an ideal self-contained retreat. Both the airy open-plan living-dining area and the main bedroom open directly onto the garden, which features a barbecue for alfresco dining with a side of sea breeze. It's perfectly placed, too, with Rye, Camber Sands, and Hastings all within easy driving distance.

Rye Retreat

A stone’s throw from Camber Sands, this stylish home takes beach shack to glamorous new heights, making it the perfect coastal retreat for friendly get-togethers and extended families. 

The interior is characterfully designed using reclaimed and antique materials, offering a revitalised version of seaside chic. The host is evidently a fan of up-cycling – look out for creative touches such as repurposed doors, stain-glass windows and rustic radiators. We especially love the wood-panelled walls and flooring that shape the space as a whole, while the comfortable furnishings, neutral tones and wood-burning stove keep things cosy. 

Here, as much attention has been paid to comfort as it has to style – drift off to sleep beneath Egyptian cotton bed linen or relax on leather sofas in the sitting room. But, don’t spend too much time inside as this home is close to an expansive sandy beach. Enjoy exclusive use of a private “No Through” sandy road, with access only to residents, and walk to the sand dunes in two minutes. End the day with early-evening sundowners on the front porch, sharing anecdotes and listening to the waves lapping in and out of the shore, before heading into the local village for a spot of traditional pub grub, five minutes away on foot. 

Camber Sands

Enjoy day after day by the seaside with this contemporary beach apartment, boasting stunning views of the North Sea. There's so much to like here – the northern coast means you get sunset and sunrise on the water, there are plenty of areas to spread out and socialise, including a patio with a barbecue. You may bump into your neighbours, but the location is worth it. The town is a short stroll away, so you won't need to worry about running out of suncream, and Herne Bay is also excellently located for exploring Kent – you'll find Whitstable a few miles west, to the south is Canterbury, and to the east is Margate, all model day trip destinations.

The Sun & The Sand

Taking up the two floors of a Victorian townhouse, this home has a lovely view of Deal Castle out through the window. Inside, there's plenty to hold your attention, too. The white walls and wooden floorboards work very well with the ample amounts of natural light that come in through the windows on either side of the long, open living space. There's a charming collection of nautical-themed pieces of artwork and trinkets dotted about the space, as well as a pair of bathtubs that are sure to tempt you upon coming back through the front door after a long day exploring this quaint seaside town. The pier is eight minutes' walk along the pebbly beach and you'll spot some of the wide array of restaurants and pubs that Deal has to offer along the way.

The Fossil Collector

Rejuvenate with panoramic sea views every day at this beachfront hideout perched along one of Sandgate’s most sought-after private roads. Boasting direct access to a quiet and secluded stretch of beach, and yet just a 4-minute drive (or thirty-three minutes on foot) from the bustling seaside town of Folkestone, it’s hard to imagine a better location. Wake up with invigorating strolls along the nearby coastal paths. Rustle up a picnic for the beach, or head into Sandgate for a dose of seaside nostalgia with fish and chips and lashings of ice cream. When it’s time for a spot of shopping and culture, mosey along to the cobbled streets of Folkstone, where you’ll find bustling restaurants, gastropubs, and the thriving artist quarter. Back at home, maritime curiosities bring coastal charm, while a dramatic mural painted by Kent artist Oliver Trowell brings drama and a dash of colour to the space. After busy days exploring the Kent coast, soak weary legs in the Jacuzzi bathtub. Then pad out onto the south-easterly facing terrace, fire up the barbecue and nestle down in the charming pergola. It’s your front-row seat to watch the glowing setting sun.
