Let’s face it – it’s that ginormous indoor private pool and state-of-the-art Swedish sauna taking all the limelight at this barn conversion property, and rightly so. It’s a luxury few expect for a home nestled away in the quiet Kent countryside. In warmer months, slide the bifold doors right back to let the sunshine in and enjoy views of the pristinely manicured gardens beyond. You could easily while away the whole day – in fact, the entire week - padding between the pool, sauna, and outdoor sun loungers, with an occasional barbecue thrown in, to spice things up. And there are more welcome surprises inside this home too. The spacious light-filled lounge and dining area overlooks the swimming pool – handy for keeping an eye on poolside antics even when you’re indoors. And upstairs, there’s a secondary lounge with Juliet balcony doors revealing views of the gardens and distant rolling fields. With such vast countryside views, you could feel a million miles from anywhere here, but you’re not as remote as you first thought. The pretty neighbouring villages all have excellent pubs serving hearty food, and the bustling cathedral town of Canterbury is just over a twenty-minute drive away. This charming 16th-century farmhouse is best suited for families. Spread over three floors, this home may not be the best choice for guests who struggle with stairs, but you can't get much better for peace and quiet. This cosy 16th-century cottage has everything needed for a comfortable Kent stay. It’s in the village Wickhambreaux, opposite the village green and the church, and just a short drive from medieval Canterbury. You’ll be perfectly placed to explore Margate and Broadstairs, as well as London – you can hop on the train in Canterbury and be in the city in less than an hour. The cottage features wooden beams and cast iron fireplaces – it’s full of classic charm. There’s a garden with outdoor furniture, perfect for relaxed sunny days with the family.

Nestled into the vast Kent countryside, this whitewashed cottage is every bit as wholesome as you'd want from a country getaway. With beautiful gardens, an original fireplace, and farmhouse-style furniture, it's the perfect place to recharge. This home isn't without its mod-cons though, with underfloor heating, a coffee machine, and fast wifi, there's everything you need for a comfortable stay.

We love how sociable this home is – the ideal setting for a family getaway or a group of friends to reunite. Cosy armchairs provide the perfect spot for late-night catch-ups, a lovely dining table is fitting for dinners, drinks, and board games, while the kitchen is big enough for everyone to pitch in when preparing meals. And while we love the cottage's warm and comforting interior, the gardens really make this home sing. There's more than enough space for the little ones to run around while the grown-ups refresh the jug of Pimms and work on the barbecue. There's even space for a friendly game of rounders. 

If you're up early enough, you can catch an incredible sunrise from the front garden. But if not (you're on holiday after all), pull up a seat in the back garden for the most wonderful sunset, with whirling shades of pink and orange sinking into the Kent countryside. 

This is a really beautiful area. The quaint town of Sandwich is just a ten-minute drive away and is widely considered one of the best preserved medieval towns in England. Head to Sandwich Bay for windy walks on the beach, before tucking into some traditional fish and chips.

Located in the picturesque village of Ash, this farmhouse is a gorgeous escape, best suited for a large family or a group of friends who love the Kent countryside. The architecture hasn't changed much since the house was built well over a century ago, and you can still see a variety of period features, even though the home has recently undergone a careful refurbishment. This is most obvious in the homey kitchen with its hanging pots and pans, supported by a beautiful vaulted ceiling, as well as the antique fireplace in the living room. Thanks to the size of the garden, everyone can find their little spot and relax alone, or get together for an alfresco meal freshly cooked on the barbecue. But our favourite space has to be the library, where you can browse the host's wide collection of titles and pretend you're the Lord or Lady of the manor. There's a local pub just a few minutes away if you're in need of refreshment, along with a village shop. Plus, with the medieval town of Sandwich just a ten-minute drive away, along with a nearby golf course and wildlife park, there's plenty to entertain the whole family.

This home is ideal for a family or a group of friends seeking a relaxing home-from-home. There’s a fully-equipped kitchen and a cosy living space inside. If you’re seeking a comfortable base in central Canterbury, this Scandi-style cottage is just the ticket. There’s no parking here, but the city is easily explored on foot, with Canterbury Cathedral, the Roman Museum and Whitefriars within walking distance. This Georgian home dates back to the 1800s, and you’ll find that the original staircase may be a little steep for some. The second bedroom is also a little snug – we think it works best for one adult or two children. That said, the cosy living room is a sweet spot to unwind after sightseeing, while the walled garden welcomes you to enjoy a glass of wine during the warmer months.

With so much to discover about the rich history and nature of Kent, it would make sense to base yourself in a somewhat historic setting. A twelve-minute walk from Martin Mill train station, in a tiny village of the same name, this home is not only ideal for history buffs, but anyone who is a fan of a tipple. Built in 1610, this traditional boozer hosts locals every evening, but can also play host to four guests in its private apartment. Above this working pub, pick up a pint of English ale to sample before making your way around this striking abode. You’ll find rich leather sofas, vintage upholstered armchairs, a gramophone, Persian rugs, and cabinets and shelves full of curios. A truly unique stay, this home really transports you back hundreds of years, steeped in British tradition and exactly the eclectic vibe you’d hope for. Two of the things that the Kent town of Deal is most famous for is its castle and stretch of pebbly coastline. As it happens, both of these things are visible through the big bay window in the lounge of this apartment. Back inside, the decor is simple, but every aspect has been executed so well. Wooden floorboards and white walls provide a classy backdrop against which colourful furnishings and photographic artwork pop off. The kitchen is pretty large considering the address is only for two, so you'll be able to flex your culinary muscles with no trouble. The presence of a bathtub is also sure to be appreciated after a long day frolicking about on the beach, which sits at the end of the street. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants within walking distance, too.

This blue bungalow is the perfect getaway for two, with high A-frame ceilings, sand-coloured wooden floors and bright living spaces. We'd describe the aesthetic as contemporary coastal – rattan lighting fixtures, leafy houseplants and plush furnishings bring a beachy bohemian air, while the sleek kitchen and crisp, clean lines are elegant and modern. After a long day on the coast, snuggle up in front of the electric fire for a cosy night at home. If you're in the mood to cook, the blue and yellow kitchen has everything you'll need, so let your culinary skills run wild. On sunny days, enjoy your feast in the garden, which is shielded from the main house by clever bamboo screens. There's even a desk in the bedroom if you need to do some remote working. But our favourite part is the location – you're just a fifteen-minute walk from Deal Castle Beach and the wonderful Kent coastline. Enjoy a delicious meal at one of the many seaside restaurants, shop the local boutiques, browse the many art galleries and enjoy a romp around Deal Castle. With the rest of the White Cliffs Country easily accessed by car, it's the ideal spot for a romantic retreat by the sea.

We recommend hiring a car here – there's an array of friendly pubs and eateries an easy drive away, plus Kingsdown beach, and golf courses. Inside this home you'll find dedicated desks, a PC, and a stocked bookshelf up on the mezzanine level, perfect as a workspace or play area for children. The underfloor heating throughout is a small but luxurious touch, and the super king bed can become twin beds on request, great for families.

You’ll be able to easily reach the city’s historic sights, as well as all the shops and cafes, and the beach is also just a short drive away. While not the grandest pad in our collection, the place is comfy, with ample space for a small family to enjoy a relaxing stay.

Set in the heart of historic Canterbury, this Georgian terraced cottage is perfect for exploring the abundance of sights in this corner of Southeast England. History buffs and culture lovers will love the proximity to a plethora of important attractions including Canterbury Cathedral, St Augustine’s Abbey, and England’s largest surviving medieval gateway, Westgate Towers. 

While the cottage’s smart dining room is lovely for sharing home–cooked meals, there are plenty of restaurants, bars, and pubs just a short stroll away – we love a good pub grub dish. For adventures further afield, the seaside town of Whitstable is only a 20–minute drive away and the freshly shucked oysters here can’t be beaten. After an exciting day out, the leafy garden is perfect for a glass of red before a relaxing soak in the big white tub – paradise.

For a different perspective, jump aboard one of the punts that lead guided tours along the River Stour or hire bikes and cycle to Chatham along the Great Stour Way.

Taking up the two floors of a Victorian townhouse, this home has a lovely view of Deal Castle out through the window. Inside, there's plenty to hold your attention, too. The white walls and wooden floorboards work very well with the ample amounts of natural light that come in through the windows on either side of the long, open living space. There's a charming collection of nautical-themed pieces of artwork and trinkets dotted about the space, as well as a pair of bathtubs that are sure to tempt you upon coming back through the front door after a long day exploring this quaint seaside town. The pier is eight minutes' walk along the pebbly beach and you'll spot some of the wide array of restaurants and pubs that Deal has to offer along the way.

The Fossil Collector

Set within the medieval city walls of Canterbury and just a two-minute jaunt from the bustling cobbled High Street, the location of this cosy Victorian terrace home is bang-on. An excellent option for a family break in the cathedral city, there’s a bunkbed room which kids will love connected to the king-sized bedroom – handy if you’ve got little ones waking in the night. While the kitchen may be a little dated and small for some, it’s well-equipped for its size. And that suntrap terrace for morning cuppas more than makes up for it.

A Grade-II listed, 16th Century townhouse located in the historic city of Canterbury, this home is a perfect base for a couple or solo traveller. Spread across three levels, there is everything you need to guarantee a comfortable stay, including a private terrace furnished with a table and chairs. While the kitchen is fully equipped, if you’d prefer to eat out, you’re conveniently within walking distance of restaurants, bars and cafes. And for day trips in and around Kent, Canterbury West Station is a five-minute walk away.

With the beach minutes away, you might spend days sunbathing or walking the pier and promenade with soft serve in hand, but we recommend time at home to simply unwind with a good book as you curl up on the sofa. Take your morning coffee out into the small courtyard and enjoy the peace and quiet as you take your very first sip. Dine out there when the weather plays ball, and when it doesn’t, you can always kindle a fire and play board games or watch a movie together. 

There’s a number of boutique shops and cafes around to explore when you’re out and about, and with the local pub only a stone’s throw away, you can swing by on most days for a lunch and a pint.

It’s rare that a house in Whitstable has a garden this big, but that’s the bonus of being on the outskirts of town. True to any seaside sanctuary, there are deck chairs in the garden to soak up the sun and outdoor dining set up on rattan furniture. A big lawn allows kids to run free. 

Inside, the social space is huge. A mezzanine balcony and double-height ceiling in the open-plan living area created a sense of space and we love the boho and scandi-chic seating for all the family.
