It’s a luxury few expect for a home nestled away in the quiet Kent countryside. In warmer months, slide the bifold doors right back to let the sunshine in and enjoy views of the pristinely manicured gardens beyond. You could easily while away the whole day – in fact, the entire week - padding between the pool, sauna, and outdoor sun loungers, with an occasional barbecue thrown in, to spice things up. And there are more welcome surprises inside this home too. The spacious light-filled lounge and dining area overlooks the swimming pool – handy for keeping an eye on poolside antics even when you’re indoors. And upstairs, there’s a secondary lounge with Juliet balcony doors revealing views of the gardens and distant rolling fields. With such vast countryside views, you could feel a million miles from anywhere here, but you’re not as remote as you first thought. The pretty neighbouring villages all have excellent pubs serving hearty food, and the bustling cathedral town of Canterbury is just over a twenty-minute drive away. And let’s not forget the coast - pack up a picnic, and you can be on the sweeping sandy shores of Folkestone in thirty minutes flat.

Nestled into the vast Kent countryside, this whitewashed cottage is every bit as wholesome as you'd want from a country getaway. With beautiful gardens, an original fireplace, and farmhouse-style furniture, it's the perfect place to recharge. This home isn't without its mod-cons though, with underfloor heating, a coffee machine, and fast wifi, there's everything you need for a comfortable stay.

We love how sociable this home is – the ideal setting for a family getaway or a group of friends to reunite. Cosy armchairs provide the perfect spot for late-night catch-ups, a lovely dining table is fitting for dinners, drinks, and board games, while the kitchen is big enough for everyone to pitch in when preparing meals. And while we love the cottage's warm and comforting interior, the gardens really make this home sing. There's more than enough space for the little ones to run around while the grown-ups refresh the jug of Pimms and work on the barbecue. There's even space for a friendly game of rounders. 

If you're up early enough, you can catch an incredible sunrise from the front garden. But if not (you're on holiday after all), pull up a seat in the back garden for the most wonderful sunset, with whirling shades of pink and orange sinking into the Kent countryside. 

This is a really beautiful area. The quaint town of Sandwich is just a ten-minute drive away and is widely considered one of the best preserved medieval towns in England. Head to Sandwich Bay for windy walks on the beach, before tucking into some traditional fish and chips.

Located in the picturesque village of Ash, this farmhouse is a gorgeous escape, best suited for a large family or a group of friends who love the Kent countryside. The architecture hasn't changed much since the house was built well over a century ago, and you can still see a variety of period features, even though the home has recently undergone a careful refurbishment. This is most obvious in the homey kitchen with its hanging pots and pans, supported by a beautiful vaulted ceiling, as well as the antique fireplace in the living room. Thanks to the size of the garden, everyone can find their little spot and relax alone, or get together for an alfresco meal freshly cooked on the barbecue. But our favourite space has to be the library, where you can browse the host's wide collection of titles and pretend you're the Lord or Lady of the manor. There's a local pub just a few minutes away if you're in need of refreshment, along with a village shop. Plus, with the medieval town of Sandwich just a ten-minute drive away, along with a nearby golf course and wildlife park, there's plenty to entertain the whole family.

Overlooking the Kent Downs, within ten acres of land belonging to a Grade II listed farmhouse, the setting of this converted stable is postcard-perfect. Inside, the owners have nailed the modern rustic interior brief. While outside, expect a shared courtyard and garden for barbecues and stargazing beside the firepit. Bringing the kids along? Little ones will love the shared play area and meeting the resident animals. If you fancy eating out, nearby Hastingleigh has a pub within walking distance, and Wye is just an eight-minute drive. Or head to the coast for lip-smacking fish and chips –⁠ Whitstable is a scenic forty-five-minute drive away.

Above this working pub, pick up a pint of English ale to sample before making your way around this striking abode. You’ll find rich leather sofas, vintage upholstered armchairs, a gramophone, Persian rugs, and cabinets and shelves full of curios. A truly unique stay, this home really transports you back hundreds of years, steeped in British tradition and exactly the eclectic vibe you’d hope for. Finish your pint in the back garden, with its picnic benches and lush lawns, where you'll probably find yourself chatting to one of the regulars. If you fancy an escape from pub life, drive ten minutes to Dover – visit its medieval castle, or admire its iconic White Cliffs.

If you’re seeking a comfortable base in central Canterbury, this Scandi-style cottage is just the ticket. There’s no parking here, but the city is easily explored on foot, with Canterbury Cathedral, the Roman Museum and Whitefriars within walking distance. This Georgian home dates back to the 1800s, and you’ll find that the original staircase may be a little steep for some. The second bedroom is also a little snug – we think it works best for one adult or two children. That said, the cosy living room is a sweet spot to unwind after sightseeing, while the walled garden welcomes you to enjoy a glass of wine during the warmer months.

Wake up with invigorating strolls along the nearby coastal paths. Rustle up a picnic for the beach, or head into Sandgate for a dose of seaside nostalgia with fish and chips and lashings of ice cream. When it’s time for a spot of shopping and culture, mosey along to the cobbled streets of Folkstone, where you’ll find bustling restaurants, gastropubs, and the thriving artist quarter. Two of the things that the Kent town of Deal is most famous for is its castle and stretch of pebbly coastline. As it happens, both of these things are visible through the big bay window in the lounge of this apartment. Back inside, the decor is simple, but every aspect has been executed so well. Wooden floorboards and white walls provide a classy backdrop against which colourful furnishings and photographic artwork pop off. The kitchen is pretty large considering the address is only for two, so you'll be able to flex your culinary muscles with no trouble. The presence of a bathtub is also sure to be appreciated after a long day frolicking about on the beach, which sits at the end of the street. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants within walking distance, too.

Enjoy day after day by the seaside with this contemporary beach home, boasting stunning views of the North Sea. There's so much to like here – the northern coast means you get sunset and sunrise on the water, there are plenty of areas to spread out and socialise, including a patio with a barbecue, and the location couldn't be much better, either. The town is a short stroll away, so you won't need to worry about running out of suncream, and Herne Bay is also excellently located for exploring Kent – you'll find Whitstable a few miles west, to the south is Canterbury, and to the east is Margate, all model day trip destinations.

The seafront is lined with beachy cafés, seafood restaurants and good old fashioned fish and chip shops. The snug living room is set around a wood-burner and there’s an ample vinyl collection if you want to set the mood with the record player. There are board games a-plenty and books for all ages scattered across the bookshelves. The breakfasting kitchen is big and bright, with glass doors that fold back to reveal the cute back garden where a picnic bench is brightened by stringed lights at night. Our favourite thing about this place is the claw-footed tub, perfect for a bath after a day on the beach.
