You'll love the peace and seclusion of this home as much as its quaint interior. It's wonderfully cheerful, with a mix of traditional and modern touches. While this home might hold onto its rural Victorian charm, modern preferences brighten up the house beautifully.

Located in the picturesque village of Ash, this farmhouse is a gorgeous escape, best suited for a large family or a group of friends who love the Kent countryside. The architecture hasn't changed much since the house was built well over a century ago, and you can still see a variety of period features, even though the home has recently undergone a careful refurbishment. This is most obvious in the homey kitchen with its hanging pots and pans, supported by a beautiful vaulted ceiling, as well as the antique fireplace in the living room. Thanks to the size of the garden, everyone can find their little spot and relax alone, or get together for an alfresco meal freshly cooked on the barbecue. But our favourite space has to be the library, where you can browse the host's wide collection of titles and pretend you're the Lord or Lady of the manor. There's a local pub just a few minutes away if you're in need of refreshment, along with a village shop. Plus, with the medieval town of Sandwich just a ten-minute drive away, along with a nearby golf course and wildlife park, there's plenty to entertain the whole family.

Taking up the two floors of a Victorian townhouse, this home has a lovely view of Deal Castle out through the window. Inside, there's plenty to hold your attention, too. The white walls and wooden floorboards work very well with the ample amounts of natural light that come in through the windows on either side of the long, open living space. There's a charming collection of nautical-themed pieces of artwork and trinkets dotted about the space, as well as a pair of bathtubs that are sure to tempt you upon coming back through the front door after a long day exploring this quaint seaside town. The pier is eight minutes' walk along the pebbly beach and you'll spot some of the wide array of restaurants and pubs that Deal has to offer along the way.

Tucked away at the end of a bridleway, this charming converted barn offers an idyllic romantic getaway within easy reach of Kent’s stunning coastline. 

Surrounded by a beautiful leafy garden, you’ll feel perfectly secluded as you enjoy sunny breakfasts at the outdoor table or celebratory sundowners as the breeze carries birdsong and the perfume of flowers all around you. Two of the things that the Kent town of Deal is most famous for is its castle and stretch of pebbly coastline. As it happens, both of these things are visible through the big bay window in the lounge of this apartment. Back inside, the decor is simple, but every aspect has been executed so well. Wooden floorboards and white walls provide a classy backdrop against which colourful furnishings and photographic artwork pop off. The kitchen is pretty large considering the address is only for two, so you'll be able to flex your culinary muscles with no trouble. The presence of a bathtub is also sure to be appreciated after a long day frolicking about on the beach, which sits at the end of the street. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants within walking distance, too.

Nestled into the vast Kent countryside, this whitewashed cottage is every bit as wholesome as you'd want from a country getaway. With beautiful gardens, an original fireplace, and farmhouse-style furniture, it's the perfect place to recharge. This home isn't without its mod-cons though, with underfloor heating, a coffee machine, and fast wifi, there's everything you need for a comfortable stay.

We love how sociable this home is – the ideal setting for a family getaway or a group of friends to reunite. Cosy armchairs provide the perfect spot for late-night catch-ups, a lovely dining table is fitting for dinners, drinks, and board games, while the kitchen is big enough for everyone to pitch in when preparing meals. And while we love the cottage's warm and comforting interior, the gardens really make this home sing. There's more than enough space for the little ones to run around while the grown-ups refresh the jug of Pimms and work on the barbecue. There's even space for a friendly game of rounders. 

If you're up early enough, you can catch an incredible sunrise from the front garden. But if not (you're on holiday after all), pull up a seat in the back garden for the most wonderful sunset, with whirling shades of pink and orange sinking into the Kent countryside. 

This is a really beautiful area. The quaint town of Sandwich is just a ten-minute drive away and is widely considered one of the best preserved medieval towns in England. Head to Sandwich Bay for windy walks on the beach, before tucking into some traditional fish and chips. 

Away in the Country

Tucked away on a quiet pedestrianised lane just off the winding streets of Deal, the flower-adorned way to the front door will feel like a hug for your soul. Stepping inside the home, you’ll notice a homely blend of traditional exposed beams and a brick fireplace that now houses a little wood-burning stove, alongside more modern furnishings.

With the beach minutes away, you might spend days sunbathing or walking the pier and promenade with soft serve in hand, but we recommend time at home to simply unwind with a good book as you curl up on the sofa. Take your morning coffee out into the small courtyard and enjoy the peace and quiet as you take your very first sip. Dine out there when the weather plays ball, and when it doesn’t, you can always kindle a fire and play board games or watch a movie together. 

There’s a number of boutique shops and cafes around to explore when you’re out and about, and with the local pub only a stone’s throw away, you can swing by on most days for a lunch and a pint.

We'd describe the aesthetic as contemporary coastal – rattan lighting fixtures, leafy houseplants and plush furnishings bring a beachy bohemian air, while the sleek kitchen and crisp, clean lines are elegant and modern. After a long day on the coast, snuggle up in front of the electric fire for a cosy night at home. If you're in the mood to cook, the blue and yellow kitchen has everything you'll need, so let your culinary skills run wild. On sunny days, enjoy your feast in the garden, which is shielded from the main house by clever bamboo screens. There's even a desk in the bedroom if you need to do some remote working. But our favourite part is the location – you're just a fifteen-minute walk from Deal Castle Beach and the wonderful Kent coastline. Enjoy a delicious meal at one of the many seaside restaurants, shop the local boutiques, browse the many art galleries and enjoy a romp around Deal Castle. With the rest of the White Cliffs Country easily accessed by car, it's the ideal spot for a romantic retreat by the sea.

Tucked on a quiet side street just off the main promenade in Deal, this charming home has a cosy cottage feel while boasting an unbeatable location. The living room is the heart of the house, with its rustic brickwork hearth and a wood-burning stove to spend cosy nights curled up next to. Here you’ll find a table for alfresco dining in the summer months and a deck chair where you can soak up the sunshine on balmy spring evenings. 

The bedrooms, meanwhile, have characterful nautical touches that echo the neighbouring sea, while the family bathroom is a luxurious space with its rainfall shower and gorgeous freestanding tub – the ideal way to unwind in the evening (a glass of bubbly in hand) after an exciting day by the coast. 

Speaking of venturing out, Deal Seafront and Pier are a stone's throw away, while the nearby High Street invites you to explore its independent boutiques and quirky shops, before stopping in at a local deli or cafe for a bite to eat. Deal Castle is also a short stroll away – built in the shape of a Tudor Rose it's well worth a visit for its rich history and sea views.

This period property was built in the style of a South African homestead, so if you’re a fan of unusual features and are looking for a sizeable home, this one’s for you. The ground-floor annex is perfect for grandparents, and the children’s playroom and enclosed garden ensure that kids will love it too. With just four bathrooms for a large group, you might find yourself waiting a while in the mornings – and the bathrooms are showing some signs of wear and tear. This is a lived-in – and loved – family home, so it won’t suit everyone’s tastes. The pebble beach of Sandwich Bay is just 0.2 miles away though, and golfers will enjoy being so close to two golf courses.

This striking 18th century mansion provides the perfect setting for a large family gathering or to celebrate a special occasion. We love how the rooms have a modern touch to them while simultaneously paying homage to their past. Most of the bedrooms have an ensuite and look out over the beautiful gardens, which have lots of different parts to them – perfect for a game of hide and seek. If you fancy exploring the surroundings, both the coast and the historical pilgrimage site of Canterbury are about half an hour’s drive away.

Close to the medieval town of Sandwich, this modern barn has a private terrace and a large shared garden. With lovely views over the surrounding fields of rural Kent, hikers and cyclists can rejoice. We recommend hiring a car here – there's an array of friendly pubs and eateries an easy drive away, plus Kingsdown beach, and golf courses. Inside this home you'll find dedicated desks, a PC, and a stocked bookshelf up on the mezzanine level, perfect as a workspace or play area for children. The underfloor heating throughout is a small but luxurious touch, and the super king bed can become twin beds on request, great for families.

If you're looking for a home with character, you've found it with this one. We absolutely love how the host's personal style shines through this home, but it's so beautifully done that anyone can appreciate it. It's clear that a lot of love has gone into this, from the wallpapered panels in the cosy living room to the toys in the third bedroom. Even the bathrooms are an interior design marvel. The home is perfectly twee and cheerful, ideal for a family to spend a lovely seaside getaway.

You'll love mornings in your bright cottage. For an extra special breakfast, why not take the short two-minute walk to the High Street and pick up pastries from the bakery, maybe even some sausages and bacon from the butchers? Take them back home for a beautiful spread out in the fabulously decorated courtyard, feeling the morning sun on your face as you sip your fresh coffee. Then, when it's time to explore, just walking around the colourful streets of Deal is a treat. You could take the short fifteen-minute walk to Deal Castle before eating classic fish and chips on the beach. Set along a row of pastel-coloured terraced houses, this unique space was once an Ale House, and thanks to its Grade II-listed status, it has maintained plenty of its original features including exposed brick chimney breasts, beamed ceilings and a charming façade with gold leaf signage. Inside, a quirky layout awaits with two separate buildings connected by a central courtyard and a Moroccan-tiled hallway, with two bedrooms in the main house and the living area and a further bedroom in the mezzanine building. It’s a brilliant home for families as the kids will love the multiple levels, the playful attic bedroom and the comfy sofas to curl up on for movie nights. Georgian features mixed with colourful vintage details make it a cheery space to come home to after fun at the beach or days exploring the coast (a five-minute stroll away), and when you’re not out tasting the fresh fish and seafood on offer at one of the nearby restaurants, the cottage-style kitchen and dining room are great for gathering around for meals at the old oak table. There’s also space for getting some work done at the kitchen bar overlooking the courtyard or in the courtyard itself, and if you’re in the mood for a change of scenery, you’ll be just a short walk from the town's great local pubs, shops and cafes.

Seek out Walmer Castle just along the seafront (the gardens are as impressive as the Tudor fortress). Then carry along the coastal promenade into Deal – its iconic pier and bustling high street with boutique shops and artisan delis is an afternoon well spent.

If you fancy a real ale or cold pint after a day on the beach, don’t worry, the current local pub is just two doors down. If you want a bit more choice, head to the seafood restaurants and swanky bars of Deal, an hour’s walk along the seaside promenade, or an eight-minute drive.

The home itself is packed with little treats and surprises. There’s the beachside garden out the back, where you can pad barefoot from the outdoor dining terrace straight onto the shingle of Kingsdown Beach for a paddle in the sea. Then there’s the secret sauna, tucked down an old alleyway. The pretty little sunroom is furnished with floral armchairs and a vintage-style radio to listen to the Shipping Forecast while gazing out to sea. We love the kitchen and living room, which is packed with vintage pieces and has the air of an old fisherman’s cottage. Poking about through the extensive vinyl collection and browsing the cookbooks is a particular delight.

Nestled between Dover and Ramsgate on the Kent coastline, Deal is often overlooked – but it’s the getaway destination of choice for those in the know. There’s a buzz about the place, with a smattering of intimate wine bars, indie galleries and casual-contemporary restaurants to keep you occupied when you’re not sunning yourself on the beach. Despite its emerging artsy identity, Deal hasn’t lost its seaside charm. You’ll find amusement arcades, fish and chip shops and a Saturday market that has existed since 1699. And your pretty home is less than a ten-minute walk from it all. Inside, it’s bright and comforting, with muted tones and a curated selection of modern and shabby chic furnishings. Out the back, there’s a quiet courtyard with seating area for drinks at sundown and a fire pit to keep you toasty. On wet and windy days, leaf through the kitchen’s recipe books and cook up a warming supper. This charming 16th-century farmhouse is best suited for families. Spread over three floors, this home may not be the best choice for guests who struggle with stairs, but you can't get much better for peace and quiet. The extensive gardens, pool table and hot tub are great for ensuring fun for both kids and grown-ups. For an extra layer of luxury, your host offers in-house spa treatments, dinner party catering and wine tastings. The driveway is shared with the house's owner next door, so you're ensured easy correspondence throughout your stay. 

Fairytail at Perry Farmhouse

If you’re looking for an elegant home set beside the seaside, rich in history, your search is over. Walk the purple floral path towards the bold front door, step inside, and you’ll be met with the same class as this home's Naval beginnings. Tastefully decorated with sparkling ceiling lights and velour sofas, you’ll feel completely at home and enjoy the little bit of luxury sprinkled on top. With manicured communal gardens wrapping around the building, enjoy your morning coffee taking in their green beauty from the private patio as the sun rises overhead. Our favourite feature is the striking clock tower perched above the building, as another reminder of this home’s past.

Just a stone's throw away from the coastal promenade, for an evening out you can stroll into Deal and take your pick of seafront restaurants or quaint pubs, if you fancy a night off chef duties. You’ll rest easy as you close your eyes at night, with comfortable and classy bedrooms and a mind full of lovely memories from your day.

It's not just the mid-century furniture and muted colour palette in this home that takes influence from the Scandinavians. Out in the garden, there's an electric-powered sauna, as well as a bathtub on the patio that you can fill with cold water for the full authentic experience. Once you've finished flitting between the two, you can rest up in the cosy summer house. The host has put together a list of local therapists and this private space is perfect for treatments. Back inside, there's plenty of equipment to keep those particular about their coffee happy, including an espresso machine, milk frother, percolator, grinder and fresh beans from a local roaster. When you're feeling suitably caffeinated, the charming seaside town of Margate is waiting to be explored. The main beach takes about a quarter of an hour to reach on foot, as does the Dreamland Amusement Park, which often hosts concerts, club nights and events.

With so much to discover about the rich history and nature of Kent, it would make sense to base yourself in a somewhat historic setting. A twelve-minute walk from Martin Mill train station, in a tiny village of the same name, this home is not only ideal for history buffs, but anyone who is a fan of a tipple. Built in 1610, this traditional boozer hosts locals every evening, but can also play host to four guests in its private apartment. Above this working pub, pick up a pint of English ale to sample before making your way around this striking abode. You’ll find rich leather sofas, vintage upholstered armchairs, a gramophone, Persian rugs, and cabinets and shelves full of curios. A truly unique stay, this home really transports you back hundreds of years, steeped in British tradition and exactly the eclectic vibe you’d hope for. Finish your pint in the back garden, with its picnic benches and lush lawns, where you'll probably find yourself chatting to one of the regulars. If you fancy an escape from pub life, drive ten minutes to Dover – visit its medieval castle, or admire its iconic White Cliffs.

Not only is it close to the seafront, beach and pier but it’s got a private  south-facing garden complete with subtropical plants and two seating areas to enjoy. Its indoors are just as tempting too with plenty of bespoke details, including heritage paint, a terrazzo worktop in the kitchen, a cosy wood burner and underfloor heating to keep your toes toasty all year round.   In this eco-conscious household all hand washes and shower gels are refillable, natural and organic. Little ones will enjoy sharing the bunk beds in the third bedroom, while we’re certain grow-ups will relish a soak in the tub – perhaps with a glass of wine – after a busy day spent on the coast.

Located in the idyllic village of Kingsdown, this home offers up to eight guests the opportunity to escape to the Kentish coast for some well-deserved rest and relaxation. You couldn't be better placed for long walks along the shingle beach with your furry pal – best ended at the dog-friendly Zetland Arms. The interior has been lovingly renovated by your hosts. Every element of this quaint cottage has been designed with you in mind. The highlight of the home is undoubtedly the open kitchen/dining room that looks out onto the garden. Where better to come for culinary inspiration than the 'garden of England'? With splendidly high ceilings, cosy bedrooms and picturesque sea views – what more could you want from a relaxing trip to the coast? 
If you feel the urge to explore further afield, you're just a short drive from the coastal town of Deal with an abundance of beaches and beautiful walks in between, while Folkestone entices visitors with its thriving artist community and a unique selection of independent shops, approximately half an hour's drive away.

We think the host of this home quite clearly has an eye for design. Inside, the living room has been painted a bold shade of teal and the walls have been adorned with an arty selection of colourful prints. Add to this a couple of antique furnishings and a collection of quirky mementoes peppered about the shelves, and you have a lively space that would liven up any Instagram grid. The rest of the home is far simpler in design, although finished to the same high standard — the marble bathroom comes with both a rainfall shower or a bathtub, for instance. The Deal seafront sits two mintues' walk around the corner, while the town's striking circular castle can be reached in seven on foot. Further afield, the White Cliffs of Dover are just over twenty-five minutes away in the car.

The Cult of Beauty

Nestled among a cluster of fisherman’s cottages a minute’s walk from Kingsdown Beach, this cosy home is perfect for a family holiday at the coast. Inside, shades of blue and nautical touches are a nod to the nearby sea, while a hand-picked selection of shabby chic furniture adds warmth to the abode. Begin your mornings with brunch around the dining table in the open-plan living area or dine alfresco if the sun’s out. Once the plates are cleared away, sprint down to the pebbled shores for an afternoon of paddling and long walks by the water’s edge. Follow the coastal path for fifty minutes to the pretty town of Deal, where a contemporary art scene and superb collection of bars and eateries draw a cool, local crowd. When the day draws to a close, head back home for mugs of hot tea in the inviting living room – fire up the wood-burner to make it extra cosy.

Plan your afternoon over breakfast at the Ercol dining table and chairs, backed by a large mirrored wall that reflects the already ample daylight into the room. Elsewhere, a chic baby blue kitchen contains all you might need to make homemade meals. However, with everything from fuss-free fish & chips to fine dining to choose from on your doorstep and in nearby Margate, you might not be spending much time in it.

While Margate is a short drive away, we'd suggest taking your time and following the Viking Trail along expansive beaches and steep chalk cliffs all the way to its sheltered harbour. From here, you're perfectly placed to visit the Turner Contemporary and wander the quaint Old Town, where you can take your pick from several outstanding eateries (though we'd recommend booking ahead) before boarding a bus or catching a taxi back to Broadstairs.
