In the area, you'll find quaint pubs, rural vineyards, and the South Downs National Park.

Inside, the living area is packed with colour and comfort. Upstairs, you'll find stripped-back floorboards and antique furnishings. There's no denying that this home has been restored beautifully, but it's eco-friendly too. 

After strolling along the bridleway, bake a shepherd's pie in this vibrant kitchen and gather your family around the many-hued dining table. Feel free to rummage through the bookshelf and light the log burner, or see what's new on Netflix and Amazon Prime.

There's a barbecue on hand and spare wellies here too – so you can enjoy country life in all winds and weathers. Across the beloved courtyard, don't forget to challenge your loved ones to a match on the old Bonzini football table in the games room.

This is a place where you can reconnect with nature. Ponies are bred on this farm, so you might even be lucky enough to spot a foal. There isn't much light pollution around either, which means you can see starry skies on clear nights.

Hares & Haystacks

Embrace Kent village living at this family-sized home in Borough Green. As well as a handy train station a ten-minute walk away (the train takes you to London Victoria in forty-five minutes), there’s a handful of cafés, pubs and shops for supplies. Woodland walks are on offer a five-minute walk from the house.

This charming red-brick home hides a comfortable and modern interior with a few traditional farmhouse touches. There’s an upright piano in the plush living room for an evening sing-along, a well-stocked library in the downstairs bedroom and the kitchen has a modern yet rustic feel. From here, glass double doors lead to the private garden, bursting with greenery. There’s dining for the group on the lawn and hidden swinging chairs amidst the shrubs and trees. 

The Village Fete

A few steps from the seashore, you'll find yourself on the bustling Bognor Regis Promenade. At home, a tableside log burner and outdoor firepit add charm to the space, but the bedroom desk and free on-street parking think practically about your stay here. If you're planning dog walks along the beach, then you may prefer to visit off-peak to avoid the summertime restrictions. Inland, nearby Chichester puts cultural sightseeing on the cards, and Goodwood is great for a day at the races.

Southern Seaboard

This charming country house can be found on the village green of pretty Alfriston. It’s at the heart of the village, with views of the parish church – known as the Cathedral of the South Downs – and the National Trust property next door. There’s a hotel next door managed by the owners of the cottage – the hotel serves delicious food throughout the day, which comes in very handy after long hikes. 

The cottage has everything you might hope for from a break to the country. The living room is cosy and comfortable, with a fireplace to keep you warm when the weather turns colder. A huge bay window looks out over the village green so you can drink in the view as you sip your morning cuppa. 

The area is excellent for hikers, with Alfriston located at the eastern end of the South Downs Way. There are trails suitable for every length of walk, whether you want to amble around the countryside or hike all the way to Eastbourne. 

Eastbourne Beach is twenty-four minutes away, with its marvellous pier. Spend a day at the beach or pop there for fish and chips after admiring the views from Birling Gap.

The cottage is perfectly situated for a country break. Whether you want to spend your time enjoying the Great Outdoors or prefer to soak up the village atmosphere from the pub, you’ll love staying here. 


The Village Green

With a privileged address in the heart of medieval Rye, this home is the perfect base for an East Sussex break. You’ll have a light-filled courtyard for warm weather drinks and a garden for leisurely gatherings. Inside, the rooms are perfect for families with plenty of space to relax, socialise, cook or catch up on work. Parking is available here and it’s just a short walk to local restaurants, galleries, shops and Camber Sands. It’s also a great base for exploring Hastings, Battle and Dungeness. 


For A Moment 

Grand but grounded, this country retreat blends period charm with laid-back luxury. Tucked in the sleepy village of Puttenham, this home is made for gatherings, with eight bedrooms, landscaped gardens, and space to spread out across every corner. Start mornings with coffee in the sun-dappled kitchen, lose hours in the garden with its private hot tub and pond views, then gather around the AGA for slow suppers and catch-ups. Whether you're celebrating something special or just seeking stillness, this is a house that makes room for it all.

Orchard Hollow

Set on a farm in West Sussex, this charming cottage is the perfect couple’s retreat or solo getaway. The interiors are bright and fun, with pops of block colour punctuating each room. Downstairs there’s a cosy living area with a wood burning stove, which you can put a log on and curl up in front of a film in the evening. The modern kitchen is well stocked for cooking up homely meals, or on warm days fire up the barbecue and enjoy lunch alfresco at the wooden table outside. Look out the kitchen window and you might spot Nellie and Maggie, the shaggy Shetland ponies whose paddock is twenty feet away. Feel free to give them a carrot or two! 

The cottage is on a farm run by your hosts. You are surrounded by the great outdoors here, and you’ll have direct access to footpaths and bridleways which take you through the farm and out into the picturesque countryside beyond. As you walk out, stop by the Stud house, where you can say hello to the native ponies in their stable. The village of Billingshurst is a four-minute drive away, where you’ll find a supermarket and some local country pubs. Pay a visit to the Nyetimber vineyard, a fourteen-minute drive away, and pick up some of their excellent sparkling wine. After a day of exploring, there’s nothing better than enjoying a glass of bubbly back at home as the sun sets over the fields. 

Stud Cottage

This comfortable no-fuss apartment is ideal for a business traveller or couple looking to make the most out of Maidstone and its surrounding sights. Ideally located right next to the train station, you’ve got unbeatable transport links on your doorstep, not to mention a modern, well-equipped base to call home. 

Wake up and enjoy freshly brewed coffee from the kitchen. Then catch up on work at the table or plan the day ahead’s activities, with myriad things to see and do nearby – Leeds Castle is under fifteen minutes away by car, as is Mote Park, while the Maidstone Museum is just a short stroll from your door. After a day of work or play, enjoy dinner at one of the many local restaurants or come back home to cook up a homemade meal before enjoying a good night’s sleep in the comfy bed. 

Turquoise Nights

This converted Kent ragstone coach house has beautiful views across gardens, paddocks (with livestock), and farmland from the private patio. It’s the perfect spot for a morning coffee or family barbecue. Glass doors lead to the sunny, dine-in kitchen and the lounge is a cosy spot to cuddle up. The twin room connects to the main bedroom, so this place is best suited to a small family or a romantic getaway for two. Located within Stone Street, those that enjoy a walk can explore the local pubs and numerous National Trust properties in the area – Ightham Mote is just across the fields.


Folklore & Tradition

Hidden away next to ancient woodland in rural Essex, this cabin is a British getaway that overflows with quirk and charm.

Inside, classically styled furnishings, such as the tufted Chesterfield, oak dining table and the four-poster bed that's come straight out of a fairytale, rub shoulders with the eclectic animal portraits that dot the wall, the antler chandelier and antique-style gramophone — which actually works in case you're in the mood for a boogie. The copper rolltop bathtub that lies just next to the bed is another decadent touch that we can't help but salute.

The home's exterior is full of pleasant surprises, too. When the weather's warm enough — and even when it's not — you can sit out in the home's hot tub, before drying off on one of the egg chairs next to the roaring fire pit. It's possible to hear the sounds of wildlife from the neighbouring forest, as well as the occasional roar from Colchester Zoo, which is less than ten minutes' drive from the home.

Elsewhere in the local area, the huge Abberton Reservoir takes five minutes to reach in the car and offers spectacular birdwatching opportunities. The local village of Layer de la Haye, with its pair of pubs and farm shop, is a ten-minute walk away, too.

Kooky Cabin

Step straight onto the shore from this three-storey beachfront beauty in laidback Pevensey Bay. With bi-fold doors that frame the sea and sunshine streaming into the open-plan lounge and kitchen, it’s the kind of home where beach days roll effortlessly into breezy evenings. Each of the three double bedrooms comes with its own en-suite, and the main suite enjoys its own private balcony. Whether you're hopping between seaside villages, exploring Eastbourne and Beachy Head, or simply staying in with a sea view, this is a beach stay done brilliantly.

Driftwood Waves

Despite being tucked away on the outskirts of Burnham village, it’s worth noting that this historic home is situated by the side of an – albeit fairly quiet – road. Although both cosy and capacious – featuring five bedrooms as well as separate breakfast, dining and sitting rooms – we’ll bet it’s this home’s four-poster bedroom and en-suite marble bathroom you’ll be fighting over. Nevertheless, in our opinion, the walled garden is the real showstopper – perfect for watching the kids play while enjoying alfresco drinks in the sun. Under an hour from London, this home’s location makes it ideal for daytrips to Windsor, Legoland and the Thames Valley.
