This enchanting home is perfect for large family groups. The home is split between the main house – which sleeps ten – and a cosy cottage for two, ideal for a couple seeking a touch more privacy. There are plenty of quiet corners for moments of peace on this 15th-century estate, with excellent walks to enjoy right from your front door – your four-legged friends will love it here. The heated swimming pool and tennis court mean there’s lots to keep little ones entertained, too. 

Charing Charm

We defy anybody not to fall completely head over heels for this cosy stone cottage nestled away in deepest Kent. Downstairs, you'll find a charming mix of vintage furnishings, shelves packed full of books and a log burner to gather around come nighttime. By contrast, the first floor is a more modern affair, with stark white walls, spotlights in the ceiling and sleek bathrooms each with a bathtub for a rejuvenating post-walk soak. There are patios with seating around the front and back of the address — compete with a barbecue ready for summer feasts — as well as a large garden. If this gives you the taste for the great outdoors, you're in luck as the Kent Downs AONB can be reached in a twenty-minute drive, while Hythe Beach takes just over twenty-five.

Flower of Kent

If you’re searching for a unique stay filled with character, this home could the one for you. Originally built in 1850 as a customs house, the space has since been transformed into a relaxing riverside retreat – ideal for groups looking to switch off and enjoy the best of Faversham. Located in a residential area with views across Standard Quay, there are lovely walks from here as well as easy access to local shops, cafes and restaurants – just a short stroll away. Parties aren’t allowed, but there’s plenty of space for intimate dinners and cosy evenings around the fire. While the rooms are spread across four floors with stair access, the owners have ensured the space is child friendly, plus those looking to adventure further afield will appreciate the ample free parking. 

Customs Place

This 14th-century manor house occupies a privileged spot in the Leeds Castle Estate. And while the grounds are impressive, the interior of this home is just as captivating. Each of the rooms has been thoughtfully restored while still retaining the original character. Both the drawing room and morning room feature open fires and the dining room lends itself perfectly to social gatherings – your host can also help organise a private chef for an additional fee. Outside, follow the path through the grounds to the castle. It’s also just a short drive into the village of Hollingbourne and the North Downs. 

The Dream of Living

This charming country house can be found on the village green of pretty Alfriston. It’s at the heart of the village, with views of the parish church – known as the Cathedral of the South Downs – and the National Trust property next door. There’s a hotel next door managed by the owners of the cottage – the hotel serves delicious food throughout the day, which comes in very handy after long hikes. 

The cottage has everything you might hope for from a break to the country. The living room is cosy and comfortable, with a fireplace to keep you warm when the weather turns colder. A huge bay window looks out over the village green so you can drink in the view as you sip your morning cuppa. 

The area is excellent for hikers, with Alfriston located at the eastern end of the South Downs Way. There are trails suitable for every length of walk, whether you want to amble around the countryside or hike all the way to Eastbourne. 

Eastbourne Beach is twenty-four minutes away, with its marvellous pier. Spend a day at the beach or pop there for fish and chips after admiring the views from Birling Gap.

The cottage is perfectly situated for a country break. Whether you want to spend your time enjoying the Great Outdoors or prefer to soak up the village atmosphere from the pub, you’ll love staying here. 


The Village Green

Nestled within a small country estate, you can relax in the private garden, savour long soaks in the hot tub and follow hiking trails through the surrounding meadows. It’s also family-friendly with a bunk bed room for children and plenty to explore in the surroundings. From here, it’s just a short drive to Canterbury and the coastal towns of Folkestone and Hythe.

Offering a tranquil getaway amid the surrounding farmland, this spot locates you just a short drive from Pilgrims Way in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty here.  With luxury home features such as underfloor heating, a large bathtub and a good-sized lawned garden with a patio – both adults and children can find space to relax and unwind whatever the weather. Plus, the almost identical property next door can also be booked through the host – making it the ideal location for two families travelling together in particular.

The estate's private beach, just a minute’s walk from the property, takes centre stage here. Grab the home's paddleboard and two-person kayak and head for the sea, or try beachcombing for seashells - the coast goes on for miles. And you can always pop back to rustle up a picnic when tummies start to rumble or stroll along to the acclaimed Sportsman pub to feast on oysters. Back at the sea-facing chalet bungalow, an effortlessly stylish home awaits. Expect vintage mid-century furniture, unique artwork, and a modern kitchen made for action. Ideal for groups of friends and family coming together, you’ll love how spread out the home feels. The self-contained apartment upstairs with a separate kitchen will be a bonus for anyone looking for that extra bit of privacy. And there’s plenty to keep the kids entertained in the surprisingly spacious garden, with a trampoline & football goal. When you can finally bear to part from the private beach, central Whitstable is just a five-minute drive away (or thirty minutes on foot). Just be sure to make it back home as the sun sets over Whitstable – it’s quite the show.

What’s more, you don’t even need a car – Whitstable Station is a 12-minute walk away.

On the outskirts of pretty little Orlestone, this sixteenth-century Grade II-listed cottage is picture perfect – so much so that it was featured in the Wealden Times Lifestyle Magazine. Beyond the manicured gardens are comfy rooms packed with original features, ideal for hunkering down. Pick your spot on a plump sofa with your feet up on the pouffe in front of the wood-burning fire, catch forty winks in the dreamy beds under Egyptian cotton sheets and patchwork quilts or tuck into your hosts’ homemade cake around the antique dining table. Spend glorious summer days on the lawns sprawled out with a picnic, enveloped in the sweet scent of the rose bushes while industrious bumblebees toil away in the foxgloves.
