This striking 18th century mansion provides the perfect setting for a large family gathering or to celebrate a special occasion. We love how the rooms have a modern touch to them while simultaneously paying homage to their past. Most of the bedrooms have an ensuite and look out over the beautiful gardens, which have lots of different parts to them – perfect for a game of hide and seek. Located in the picturesque village of Ash, this farmhouse is a gorgeous escape, best suited for a large family or a group of friends who love the Kent countryside. The architecture hasn't changed much since the house was built well over a century ago, and you can still see a variety of period features, even though the home has recently undergone a careful refurbishment. This is most obvious in the homey kitchen with its hanging pots and pans, supported by a beautiful vaulted ceiling, as well as the antique fireplace in the living room. Thanks to the size of the garden, everyone can find their little spot and relax alone, or get together for an alfresco meal freshly cooked on the barbecue. But our favourite space has to be the library, where you can browse the host's wide collection of titles and pretend you're the Lord or Lady of the manor. There's a local pub just a few minutes away if you're in need of refreshment, along with a village shop. Plus, with the medieval town of Sandwich just a ten-minute drive away, along with a nearby golf course and wildlife park, there's plenty to entertain the whole family.

The Dane John Gardens are around the corner and the cathedral is close enough that you can see its towers from the windows here. While there’s no lounge area, you’ll find a desk and a generously-sized bed upstairs, and the well-equipped kitchen is a plus for those looking to enjoy homecooked meals between sampling the city’s food scene.

Nestled into the vast Kent countryside, this whitewashed cottage is every bit as wholesome as you'd want from a country getaway. With beautiful gardens, an original fireplace, and farmhouse-style furniture, it's the perfect place to recharge. This home isn't without its mod-cons though, with underfloor heating, a coffee machine, and fast wifi, there's everything you need for a comfortable stay.

We love how sociable this home is – the ideal setting for a family getaway or a group of friends to reunite. Cosy armchairs provide the perfect spot for late-night catch-ups, a lovely dining table is fitting for dinners, drinks, and board games, while the kitchen is big enough for everyone to pitch in when preparing meals. And while we love the cottage's warm and comforting interior, the gardens really make this home sing. There's more than enough space for the little ones to run around while the grown-ups refresh the jug of Pimms and work on the barbecue. There's even space for a friendly game of rounders. 

If you're up early enough, you can catch an incredible sunrise from the front garden. But if not (you're on holiday after all), pull up a seat in the back garden for the most wonderful sunset, with whirling shades of pink and orange sinking into the Kent countryside. 

This is a really beautiful area. The quaint town of Sandwich is just a ten-minute drive away and is widely considered one of the best preserved medieval towns in England. Head to Sandwich Bay for windy walks on the beach, before tucking into some traditional fish and chips.

Let’s face it – it’s that ginormous indoor private pool and state-of-the-art Swedish sauna taking all the limelight at this barn conversion property, and rightly so. It’s a luxury few expect for a home nestled away in the quiet Kent countryside. In warmer months, slide the bifold doors right back to let the sunshine in and enjoy views of the pristinely manicured gardens beyond. You could easily while away the whole day – in fact, the entire week - padding between the pool, sauna, and outdoor sun loungers, with an occasional barbecue thrown in, to spice things up. And there are more welcome surprises inside this home too. The spacious light-filled lounge and dining area overlooks the swimming pool – handy for keeping an eye on poolside antics even when you’re indoors. And upstairs, there’s a secondary lounge with Juliet balcony doors revealing views of the gardens and distant rolling fields. With such vast countryside views, you could feel a million miles from anywhere here, but you’re not as remote as you first thought. The pretty neighbouring villages all have excellent pubs serving hearty food, and the bustling cathedral town of Canterbury is just over a twenty-minute drive away. And let’s not forget the coast - pack up a picnic, and you can be on the sweeping sandy shores of Folkestone in thirty minutes flat.

If you’re seeking a comfortable base in central Canterbury, this Scandi-style cottage is just the ticket. There’s no parking here, but the city is easily explored on foot, with Canterbury Cathedral, the Roman Museum and Whitefriars within walking distance. This Georgian home dates back to the 1800s, and you’ll find that the original staircase may be a little steep for some. The second bedroom is also a little snug – we think it works best for one adult or two children. That said, the cosy living room is a sweet spot to unwind after sightseeing, while the walled garden welcomes you to enjoy a glass of wine during the warmer months.

It’s rare that a house in Whitstable has a garden this big, but that’s the bonus of being on the outskirts of town. True to any seaside sanctuary, there are deck chairs in the garden to soak up the sun and outdoor dining set up on rattan furniture. A big lawn allows kids to run free. 

Inside, the social space is huge. A mezzanine balcony and double-height ceiling in the open-plan living area created a sense of space and we love the boho and scandi-chic seating for all the family. A breakfast bar and kitchen island of raw wood mean there’s oodles of prep space and dining is at a rustic wooden table with bench-style seating. Bedrooms are massive, and kids will love the higglety pigglety layout of single beds secreted away beneath eaves and on mezzanine levels.

You’re on the outskirts of Whitstable, a twenty-minute walk (or five-minute drive) from the seafront where beach huts line the sand and fishing boats bob in the harbour. Here you’ll find plenty to see and do with fish and chip restaurants and ice cream shops galore. Outdoorsy types should hit the Crab and Winkle Cycle Way, right from the home’s doorstep.

Close to the medieval town of Sandwich, this modern barn has a private terrace and a large shared garden. With lovely views over the surrounding fields of rural Kent, hikers and cyclists can rejoice. We recommend hiring a car here – there's an array of friendly pubs and eateries an easy drive away, plus Kingsdown beach, and golf courses. Inside this home you'll find dedicated desks, a PC, and a stocked bookshelf up on the mezzanine level, perfect as a workspace or play area for children. The underfloor heating throughout is a small but luxurious touch, and the super king bed can become twin beds on request, great for families.

Quite fittingly for a home around five minutes' walk from Herne Bay's coastline, this home is slightly reminiscent of a beach shack. Admittedly, it's a lot bigger than the much-coveted huts you'll see in the local area, but the weathered timber around the fireplace, the bright white walls and the large double doors that open up to let the sea air blow through the space help create the laidback feel. Outside, there's a small yard complete with a picnic table for when you fancy an alfresco supper, but there are several seafront restaurants on Central Parade a couple of minutes away on foot, as well as plenty more on the High Street in the other direction. A lovely walking route through The Downs starts five minutes' walk from the front door, too.

You’ll be able to easily reach the city’s historic sights, as well as all the shops and cafes, and the beach is also just a short drive away. While not the grandest pad in our collection, the place is comfy, with ample space for a small family to enjoy a relaxing stay.

Set in the heart of historic Canterbury, this Georgian terraced cottage is perfect for exploring the abundance of sights in this corner of Southeast England. History buffs and culture lovers will love the proximity to a plethora of important attractions including Canterbury Cathedral, St Augustine’s Abbey, and England’s largest surviving medieval gateway, Westgate Towers. 

While the cottage’s smart dining room is lovely for sharing home–cooked meals, there are plenty of restaurants, bars, and pubs just a short stroll away – we love a good pub grub dish. For adventures further afield, the seaside town of Whitstable is only a 20–minute drive away and the freshly shucked oysters here can’t be beaten. After an exciting day out, the leafy garden is perfect for a glass of red before a relaxing soak in the big white tub – paradise.

For a different perspective, jump aboard one of the punts that lead guided tours along the River Stour or hire bikes and cycle to Chatham along the Great Stour Way.
