We can’t get over all the period features – the picture-perfect crown moulding and the charming windows being our favourite parts. On top of that, Jane is also a wonderful host, who’s put a lot of care into designing a seamless space filled with a welcoming atmosphere.

Cross the gangplank onto this incredible floating home near the Thames. Moored just a couple of blocks from Tower Bridge, this former 1930s steel barge is a ten-minute walk from the Tower of London. The top deck has been converted into a long, open living space with views of St Katharine Docks Marina from the huge windows. We love the semi-outdoor dining room, housed in a glass atrium-style space to the rear of the ship, with seating for ten. Choose to relax in the stylish white lounge on the upper deck, or head downstairs to the snug with its u-shaped sofa around a striking suspended fireplace. Bedrooms are on the lower deck, but that doesn’t mean dark cabins with tiny portholes. Spacious rooms have walls of windows and if there are portholes, they’re the size of a bass drum, letting in tonnes of natural light. If you manage to bag the master bedroom, its en-suite comes with a sauna. Welcome aboard, matey!

All Afloat

Leave behind the hustle and bustle of Covent Garden and enter an alternate reality. Bull Inn Court still bears the name of the pub that stood on this site until 1680, and while the inn might be long gone, its spirit lives on in the drinking, dining and entertainment on offer throughout the area. This luxurious and spacious apartment offers the ultimate in comfort and convenience close to London's glistening West End. Its open living space features a seating area, dining table and sleek kitchen that's perfect if you fancy a casual night kicking back in front of the TV. People can often be daunted when it comes to incorporating colour into interior design, but this Notting Hill apartment shows how it can be done without going over the top.

The mustard and green furnishings in the living room are instantly uplifting and go nicely with the weathered wood of the coffee table. The addition of two arched window mirrors helps accentuate the plentiful amount of natural light that comes in through the large windows. Elsewhere, the kitchen in a deep shade of green has plenty of sleek surface space for preparing home-cooked dinners, while the bathrooms play it comparatively safer with the dazzlingly white tiles.

The fact that we've got this far without mentioning the home's incredible location is a testament to the quality of the interior. The bottom of Portobello Road can be reached in ten minutes' walk, as can Holland Park and Kensington Gardens.
