In a majestic red-brick building that feels quintessentially English, this charming garden flat is the perfect base for discovering the delights of your locale. Inside, the modern decor feels understated and pretty zen overall, but you’ll find quirky little touches like colourful, graphic artwork and funky fringed cushions. But our favourite spot has to be the outdoor space. Enclosed by a wooden fence with ivy flowing over the edges, this wooden patio feels like a secret garden escape. Sip a gin and tonic as you wait for the barbecue to heat up – you could even lie back in the hammock and close your eyes for a minute... If you do fancy a day out of elegant West London, take an eight-minute walk to Hampstead tube station and explore the city with ease.

For the arts, this home is just an eleven-minute stroll to Highgate Contemporary Art Gallery, while Jacksons Lane Arts Centre is a cultural hub two minutes from your door. Dickens and Byron frequented the taverns around here, but there are still plenty of gastro pubs and restaurants for those with modern tastes – as well as this apartment. 

Behind the traditional red-brick Victorian facade of the building, you’ll be surprised at the contrast. Your chic living space features ghost chairs and glass tabletops, with high ceilings and an understated colour palette creating a feeling of zen. But original features have not been forgotten – we love the large period windows that allow light to flood in, as well as the ornate fireplace with carved ironwork and antique ceramic tiles.

After a few glasses of English sparkling wine on the mid-century sofa, it might be time for a lie-down. In soothing neutral colour schemes, and with views of lush foliage, both bedrooms have a calming ambience. You can easily explore London from here – Belsize Park Tube station is a fourteen-minute walk, and the amenities of South End Green and Hampstead High Street are also within minutes by foot. Back home, the grand living area is a charming space to hang out after a busy day of sightseeing. There's also a laptop desk space for those travelling for work. Keep in mind that the small double bedroom is a little bit of a squeeze fitting a double bedroom, but overall this one's a great pick for three people.

This is a soulful space for those after a more alternative place to stay when they're visiting the UK's capital. Part of a converted former piano factory, the interior is instantly uplifting thanks to the array of bold modern artwork, statement wallpaper and house plants dotted about. You can tell it's been put together by somebody with an artistic disposition. It's up on the second floor with views from the Juliet balconies over the rooftops of Stoke Newington, a quiet neighbourhood with a great village vibe. If you want to explore, the host has left their Dutch bike and guests are free to borrow it. Alternatively, you can rent her car, which is parked in the on-site car park. Clissold Park is only two minutes' walk up the road and is home to a small deer farm. Likewise, Church Street takes only six minutes to reach on foot and offers cosy restaurants, traditional boozers and vintage shops.

Nestled between King’s Cross and Camden, this home is perfectly placed for an exciting city getaway. You can stroll to the shops and restaurants in nearby Granary Square and Coal Drops Yard. There are markets to explore and you’ll find great public transport links – making it easy to get across London. Wherever the day takes you, this apartment has everything you could need to relax, disconnect or catch up on work. This apartment takes top marks for location. It's situated in vibrant King's Cross, just a short walk from the well-connected train station and the area's bars and restaurants. We think it's an ideal sport for first-time visitors and seasoned travellers alike. But it's not just the location that caught our eye. The decor back home is simple yet stylish. There are two roomy bedrooms, a breezy open-plan living area, and a small balcony – it's a tad overlooked but still a nice enough spot to enjoy the fresh air. All in all, it's a great option for friends and families.

Offering peace and comfort just ten minutes from Camden, this homely maisonette is the right choice if you want a memorable London experience. Between the cosy living room, verdant garden and the spacious top-floor terrace with views of neighbouring streets, you'll be spoiled for places to relax in between sightseeing.

The home has been beautifully decorated with a laid-back ambience, stashed full of books and unique artworks. If you're staying in the sunny months, it's likely you'll spend plenty of time on the private balcony. This scenic spot joins directly onto the master bedroom, so you can wake up to a spectacular city vista.

A fifteen-minute walk away, Primrose Hill boasts similarly panoramic views of the city – this is the perfect spot for a sunset walk. Camden Lock Market and Regent's Park are also within easy reach, and the closest tube station will take you into central London in only twenty minutes.

Although Camden is more cool than chic, we think it's an excellent base for exploring. There's something for everyone – an array of eateries with cuisines from all around the world, the famous market selling vintage goods (a ten-minute walk), beloved music venues and pubs if you fancy a night out and paths along the canal perfect for leisurely afternoon strolls. Plus, with Camden Road Overground right down the street and Camden Town Station a seven-minute walk away, getting around the rest of London is a breeze.
