Cross the gangplank onto this incredible floating home near the Thames. Moored just a couple of blocks from Tower Bridge, this former 1930s steel barge is a ten-minute walk from the Tower of London. The top deck has been converted into a long, open living space with views of St Katharine Docks Marina from the huge windows. We love the semi-outdoor dining room, housed in a glass atrium-style space to the rear of the ship, with seating for ten. Choose to relax in the stylish white lounge on the upper deck, or head downstairs to the snug with its u-shaped sofa around a striking suspended fireplace. Bedrooms are on the lower deck, but that doesn’t mean dark cabins with tiny portholes. Spacious rooms have walls of windows and if there are portholes, they’re the size of a bass drum, letting in tonnes of natural light. If you manage to bag the master bedroom, its en-suite comes with a sauna. Welcome aboard, matey!

Part of a converted warehouse in East London, this smart studio really packs a punch. It's bursting with personality and, despite its petite size, there's plenty of space to cook, eat and relax in style. Three large Victorian sash windows bring in plenty of natural light, while the kitchen has stone worktops and brand new German appliances – budding chefs will love creating their favourite dishes here. We especially liked the quirky House of Hackney wallpaper, featuring a colourful cast of animals, which you can admire before settling down for a great sleep in the vintage-style bed. Outside, you're in the perfect position to explore Shoreditch's restaurants, fashion boutiques and buzzing bars – this area is known for its independent spirit, and for good reason. And, if you want to head into central London to see the city's most iconic sights, simply hop on a local bus to arrive there in around half an hour.

Inside, the open living and kitchen area is well lit, thanks to the French doors at the end that lead directly out onto a private balcony with views of the city skyscrapers to the north-west. The engineered oak floor, imposing granite worktops, and high-end Bosch appliances lend a high-class air to the place, while the comfortable bed is a great place to cocoon yourself away at the end of a long day. You're well connected when it comes to public transport. Twenty minutes on the DLR and you're in Canary Wharf, while twenty minutes tube ride in the opposite direction will take you to the heart of the City of London. There's plenty within walking distance too. You'll find a Sainsbury's and a Waitrose nearby for stocking up on essentials, while the Tower of London and Tower Bridge are a little over ten minutes' walk. Just under a five-minute walk from Brick Lane and Spitalfields Market, the area is jam-packed with cafes, restaurants, and fun-filled bars – ensure you check out all the vintage shops that line the streets here. And for those ticking off their city bucket list, Tower Bridge and Old Street are both within a half-hour walk from your door. Inside, we love how the rustic beams and exposed brick are softened by warm, modern furniture, abstract artwork and curated houseplants. Come together for a hearty meal around the repurposed-wooden dining table – prepared in the charming country-style kitchen. Although, with so much to eat, drink and do nearby, we think you'll be spending most of your time dining out. Of course, this area is also a nightlife hot spot, so expect to see people out and about all evening – however, the apartment itself is in a largely residential spot and consequently, very peaceful. There's a pleasant surprise too. Head out onto the amazing, communal roof terrace for some incredible city views over the big smoke. Pre-dinner drinks go down a treat up here.

Bethnal Green is one of the city's coolest postcodes, and hip restaurants, bars, cafes, and shops surround you. On the tenth floor of an apartment block near the River Thames, this home is contemporary with great views from the private balcony. The decor is quite corporate and not the most soulful, but it's certainly comfortable and we think it's ideal for work trips. You'll have access to communal facilities including a swimming pool, gym, and cinema theatre here, and while there is the potential for some outside noise, this can easily be remedied with earplugs. When it comes to exploring London and its attractions, the location and proximity to public transport make this home shine.

This stylish apartment has a prestigious location in Shoreditch, in a landmark building designed by the renowned architects Foster + Partners. We love the ensuite bathroom, beautifully finished with marble. The open-plan living space is flooded with lots of natural light with large windows overlooking London. However, the absolute highlights here for us are the indoor lap pool and spa – perfect for relaxing after a busy day. There's also a residents' lounge, a state-of-the-art gym, and a cinema, so there's plenty to keep you occupied.

If all this wasn't enough, this home has a fabulous address. It's a twelve-minute walk to East London Tech City, otherwise known as Silicon Roundabout, while Spitalfields Market is a four-minute saunter. With its public gardens, bars, and restaurants, Hoxton Square is a seven-minute wander, or art lovers can head to the Barbican Arts Centre, seventeen minutes away on foot.
