It was a nice surprise to visit this property. Whilst the neighbourhood might not be the most exciting, the interiors certainly make up for it. The kitchen with its bright green steel beams and mid-century furniture has oodles of character. Find two beautiful double bedrooms on the first floor, and up a spiral staircase two fun singles for the kids, with views of neighbouring rooftops. A well-manicured garden is a bonus and children will love the trampoline at the back. The many unique aspects of this space, including the fireplace and artwork, make it a great addition to The Plum Guide.

Thanks to its lively markets, vibrant carnival and rich film history, Notting Hill's reputation precedes itself. But we're about to confess our love for it nonetheless. At this stylish apartment along St Luke's Rd, you're no more than ten minutes' walk away from the delights of colourful Portobello Road – where designer boutiques, traditional pubs and vintage clothes stalls all vie for your attention. If you fancy a walk, Holland Park is a twenty-minute stroll from your front door, while Central London is easily reachable on public transport.

Speaking of, with its high period ceilings and shutter windows, natural light floods into the living area, creating a bright and airy spot to show off your day's forgotten finds. While the statement design and old-world objects add interest, the real star of the show here is that all-too-rare of London amenities – an outside space. Surrounded by thriving greenery and ancient tree canopies, the decked terrace is a real sanctuary of calm – perfect for throwing open the shutters, extending the communal space and sipping alfresco drinks on warmer evenings. It's no mean feat creating a place of calm in the middle of lively Notting Hill, but that's exactly what this home does. Return after a lovely day spent exploring the two-mile stretch of colourful terraces, historic pubs and vintage clothing stalls on Portobello Road, under a twenty-minute stroll away, and feel a sense of home-sweet-home in your eclectic yet oh-so cosy digs.

You'll find this ground-floor apartment nestled between Kensal Rise and Kensal Green. Although it's further out of the city, this part of West London has an artsy, family-friendly vibe – plus, with a Tube and Overground station both a ten-minute walk away, you won't be too far from the action. Cosy and contemporary, this home is a hidden gem. The patio is perfect for evening tipples, the freestanding bath is ideal for a post-sightseeing soak, and the garden even has a studio for remote work (although it currently lacks electricity). We think it'll suit a couple perfectly – especially those wanting to be in a quiet neighbourhood with access to central London.

There were a lot of features about this home that we really loved. While it is a fairly small space, it has been thoughtfully designed with comfort in mind, and your host is also one of the loveliest people we have had the pleasure to meet. The interiors do have a contemporary feel, with the Andy Warhol photography adding character. Accessed via a ladder-style staircase, the bedroom here is on a mezzanine level, so you'll have to be prepared for some mid-stay climbing. The surrounding location is idyllic, with a bohemian vibe and within easy reach of the coveted Notting Hill.

Loved for its village like streets, with many houses boasting blue plaques commemorating famous residents, its magnificent Heath and affluent community, Hampstead is one of the most desirable districts in London – and this inviting apartment is in the heart of it. When you arrive, drop your bags, flick on the kettle and make yourself at home. The living room feels crisp and polished with its white-washed walls and wooden shutters, while the shelves of curiosities add a personal touch. But our favourite spot has to be the outdoor space. Enclosed by a wooden fence with ivy flowing over the edges, this wooden patio feels like a secret garden escape. Sip a gin and tonic as you wait for the barbecue to heat up – you could even lie back in the hammock and close your eyes for a minute... If you do fancy a day out of elegant West London, take an eight-minute walk to Hampstead tube station and explore the city with ease.
