A gorgeous barn conversion close to the wind-whipped Norfolk coast, this home has been set up with dog lovers in mind. There's enough space for up to four of your furry friends to join, with a lavish fleece-lined bed for each, throws for those that just won't stay off the sofa, an enclosed garden and a special dog hamper to welcome them. Two-legged guests will love the open-plan living and dining area, the AGA in the kitchen, comfy sofas and plenty of games. You'll definitely want to keep the dogs out of the bedrooms, though, as the Egyptian cotton bedding is far too sumptuous to share. Nearby there are lots of dog-friendly woodland and beach walks, and local pub The Star Inn will be happy to welcome you and your tail-wagging companions. After a day out exploring the best of the north Norfolk coast, treat yourself to a soak in the hot tub looking out over the surrounding fields. If you want to explore further afield, head twenty miles north to Cromer, known as 'the gem of the Norfolk coast'. We think it makes for the 'ulti-mutt' escape.

This baby blue timber lodge is just as cute on the inside as it is on the outside. As well as having all the essentials for a romantic getaway, there are house plants, colourful pieces of artwork and a turquoise accent wall to give the place a bit of character without overdoing it — one of the hosts is an interior designer, can't you tell? Out through the glass door, there's a large garden with a cosy seating area at the far end and plenty of potted plants dotted about. You'll find that there's a real sense of peace here. The local village of Banningham is small — albeit with a well-recommended gastropub — and there are plenty of outdoor excursions to fill your days with nearby. The birthplace of Anne Boleyn, Blickling Estate, takes ten minutes to reach in the car, while Cromer Beach is a seventeen-minute drive away, too.

Perched on the edge of Blickling Hall Estate and fringing the chocolate-box village of Oulton, the setting for this adult-only hideaway is dreamy. All the cottagecore essentials are ticked off with original beams, a wood-burning stove, and a pretty, south-facing garden to call your own. Although it’s worth noting the home’s low beams and restricted head height might not suit the vertically blessed. With no amenities within walking distance, you’ll need a car here. Head to Holt for a dose of sea air (a twenty-minute drive). Or, closer to home, nearby Aylsham for a taste of market town life.

Take the tribe to the beach whenever you feel like and when the weather is nice, have a picnic there too. On lazier days, you might only make it as far as the orchard garden, but that's more than fine as long as you remember to relax. When you feel like embarking on a day trip, Norfolk will provide plenty of fascinating destinations ranging from war memorials to famous tearooms.

This elegant coastal home set a mere 0.1 miles from the beach in the postcard-pretty village of Happisburgh, had us charmed with its country garden and summer house alone. And that was before we'd even seen the slipper bath and four-poster bed of its swoon-worthy interiors.

Inside, every corner of this Norfolk home feels like an interior magazine brought to life. Antique pieces and objets d'art nod to the home's 18th-century beginnings, while pops of colour add a dash of modernity.

Set out over one level, there's room for you to all spill out in style here. When the sun shines, pad out into the enclosed wraparound garden for alfresco breakfasts. Then savour that second coffee beneath the dapple of the apple tree while kids and furry friends run off some energy on the lawns.

When you're ready to meet the locals of this otherworldly village, Happisburgh's traditional inn dating back to 1550 is just around the corner for upper-crust grub. Or follow the iconic red and white striped lighthouse down to the seafront for afternoons of picnicking and sandcastle building.

Once you’re refuelled and raring to go, frolic on Sea Palling’s Blue Flag beach before quenching your thirst with a well-deserved pint at Reefs Bar, a ten-minute stroll from your doorstep. Just beyond the village, you’ll find designated bridleways and a National Cycle Route if you’d prefer to explore on two wheels. Jump in the car and visit The Broads’ picturesque waterways, a twenty-five-minute drive away or pop down the coast to visit the pups at Horsey Seal Colony – and be sure to try the food at the 1940’s inspired tearoom.

Elevate your every day with a stay at this former mill house idyll. Perched on the banks of the River Wensum fringing the postcard-pretty village of Elsing and just a half-an-hour drive from Norfolk’s mighty coast, you've got the best of all worlds here.

With fishing to be done on the water, a myriad of cycling and walking trails close by, and a local village inn just a skip away for a bite to eat, you could easily while away the whole day here. Or pack up your buckets and spades and jump in the car for beach days along the North Norfolk coast – you’ll be there in thirty minutes flat.

This cosy barn sits on the edge of the Norfolk Broads, where it offers the ideal setting for a relaxing group getaway. Inside, you’ll find plenty of socialising space across the kitchen and living room. Out in the Norfolk countryside, this historic home consists of an old rectory and former coach house converted into a cosy yet grand place to stay. The original rectory dates back to the 16th century and has been transformed into a place of lavish lounges set around fireplaces, a sunny dine-in kitchen and a dining room big enough for the whole group to come together. In the coach house, you’ll find an additional full kitchen and open-plan living area with a ping-pong table. The 12.5 acres of grounds house an all-weather tennis court, vast lawns and dining on the patio. Your host can arrange countryside activities like clay pigeon shooting and fishing excursions.

This cosy home is perfect for country getaways for two. It’s a peaceful space that’s been renovated from an old schoolhouse – in the courtyard you can still spot some of the little ones’ markings. You could drive ten minutes to the Marriott’s Way route – this 26-mile path between Norwich and Aylsham is wonderful on foot or by bike. The Broads National Park is thirty-four minutes away by car, and you can be paddling on Cromer beach in thirty-six minutes.

When it's time to get out and about, you're just a seventeen-minute drive away from the smart Georgian town of Holt, with its antique galleries, boutiques, and charming cafés. Blakeney's picturesque harbour (a twenty-three-minute drive) is the perfect spot for an afternoon's crabbing or seal-spotting. And there are beautiful beaches aplenty – Brancaster, Sheringham, and Cromer are just a few of the many hidden gems waiting for you to discover.

This converted coach house still retains its original charm – the interior is rustic yet elegant. We love the exposed beams, stone floors and high ceilings. The southwest-facing walled garden with its pretty lawn is the perfect spot to unwind – fire up the barbecue for an alfresco lunch. On chillier evenings, cosy up in front of the wood-burning stove or have a luxurious soak in the roll-top bath. There is plenty of family fun to be had in this home – let siblings battle it out at the football table or bury themselves in a board game in the entertainment room. In the cloakroom, you'll find ample space for buckets and spades, and we recommend heading out to the nearby Cromer Beach for the day (a twenty-minute drive). If you want to explore the Norfolk Broads – it's just over thirty minutes in the car. Or it's a three-minute stroll to the local pub for a hearty meal and a pint to round off a perfect day in Norfolk.

Perfect for pups, this lovely cottage has everything you and your four-legged friends will need for a seaside getaway. It's incredibly dog-friendly, with heaps of features that dog owners will appreciate – an enclosed, astroturf courtyard (no muddy paws!), easy-clean laminate floors, bowls and crates, and a comfy white sofa that looks stylish but is easy to wipe down. Even without a pooch, you'll be happy to call this annexe home. It's bright, inviting and has plenty of charm. Owners Tracie and Neil are highly knowledgeable about the area and keep a cosy, traditional home – they live next door but can be as hands-on (or off) as you need. We love their attention to detail, and a few unique pieces were handcrafted by Neil, including the TV stand converted from a Singer sewing machine, the pine coffee table and the light fittings. Set in the coastal village of Happisburgh, there's a lot to keep you busy. After an alfresco breakfast, lace up your boots and take a walk along the beach – both Cart Gap and Happisburgh Beach are a twenty-minute stroll away. You can't miss the bold red-and-white-striped lighthouse along the sea – it's the oldest working one in East Anglia – but other places worth exploring include the lush Bacton Woods and the collection of inns and pubs serving traditional English food along the seaside.
