This studio apartment may be small, but it more than makes up for the lack of space with an excellent location. In the heart of The Golden Triangle (also known as 'the Notting Hill of Norwich'), this flat is nestled among local pubs, cosy cafes, delicious restaurants and leafy parks. Plus, it's just a fifteen-minute walk to the city centre or you can catch a bus from the stop right outside the flat.

Pocket-sized yet cosy, we think this home is a great option for solo travellers, couples or those in town on business. The layout makes the most of the square footage – the bed is tucked away behind a small wall and the fully-kitted kitchen has a stylish bar-top counter with stools instead of the usual dining table. A squishy sofa and quirky wall art make for a real homely feeling– all in all, we think it's a comfortable place to rest your head and kick off your shoes after a busy day exploring Norwich.

There's a lot to love about this converted barn in the heart of the Norfolk countryside. And its peaceful setting, surrounded by woodlands, water meadows and gardens are just the beginning. How about a tennis court? And, of course, what would a home in the Broads be without water access? This place has it all. There's a bedroom on the ground floor, with direct access outside, and the family bathroom is on that level too, while the master and third bedroom are upstairs (the third having a unique, low level window overlooking the dining room). With fifteen acres of land to explore, there are great walks to be had from your doorstep, and here you'll be about twenty minutes by car from Norwich in one direction, and the stunning Norfolk coast in the other.

There's no denying that this is a city brimming with history, and this apartment is right in the thick of it, mere steps from Norwich Castle. Location-wise, it's pretty much perfect, but that's not the only reason why we love this flat.

Inside, the space is bright and super stylish, with a sleek kitchen and an open-plan living area where you can kick back and relax after a busy day. The design includes a lot of natural elements – rattan baskets, wooden floors and neutral hues – and together, they create a laid-back and soothing space that's a welcome retreat following an afternoon exploring the bustling streets. Rest your feet on the squishy sofa, admiring the incredible city view from the window. Then, pop open a bottle of bubbly and toast your holiday as you tuck into a homecooked meal. When it's time to hit the hay, the sumptuous bed will be calling your name, so you can wake up refreshed and excited for tomorrow's adventure.

A city rich in Medieval history, we'd recommend a visit to Norwich's famous 11th-century market. Or have a stroll around Norwich Lanes and its independent boutiques. Other attractions include the smallest pub in the UK and Norwich Cathedral, while a little further afield, Whitlingham Lake is worth a look, especially if you like water activities such as kayaking and canoeing.

Back at this home, pour a glass of wine and stroll through the grey-painted French doors into the pretty courtyard garden with its climbing plants meandering up the walls. Or relax inside with one of the books from the living or dining room shelves. Upstairs, we love the main bedroom with its plush mustard velvet sofa – the perfect spot for a cheeky G&T. Step into history oozing with the finest luxury afforded to the home's guests, including ample space as, on top of the main hall, there’s also the Gatehouse, the Cottage, and the Garden Rooms, as well a separate barn for hosting events, and of course the grounds. The history of this home has been preserved immaculately, while at the same time, modern comforts are around every corner. Either as a gateway to the Broads, or as a destination in itself, you can’t go wrong.

The facilities available at the hall are second to none, with no need or whim uncatered for, including perfectly equipped kitchens, games room, library, a wealth of entertainment, cosy open fires and woodburners, lawns and meadows, and even a moat, and should you wish to prize yourself away from this phenomenal home and head on out to explore, the bustling seaside town of Great Yarmouth is just a twenty-seven-minute drive away, while the Norwich city centre can be reached in twenty-two minutes by car, and is perfect for those shopping needs. We highly recommend trying out the cosy pubs around the area for a good pint and perfect company.

You’ll find everything you need here, from garden games for fun in the private walled garden to a hot tub and sauna. Wood burners keep you cosy, and when the sun shines there’s a barbecue in the garden for sunny afternoons of outdoor fun. 

The farmhouse is in a quiet countryside setting, so you can really relax and unwind. Days out might include a trip to the seaside at Cromer, which is a twenty-minute drive, or a walk to Bryant’s Heath and back – the path passes the church in the village and takes thirty-eight minutes one-way. There are plenty of walking and cycling trails straight from the front door, so you can really work up an appetite before returning for dinner in the stylish dining room.

There are too many good things about The Hobart Spring to list, but suffice to say that it’s every bit as good as it looks. Most of the buildings date to the 1470s, when Sir James Hobart (later attorney general to the king) built his family home. Our favourite room (not an easy decision) is the kitchen, which looks beautifully traditional, but alongside the Aga, has an electric oven, gas hob, espresso machine and more. You can also pick herbs from the raised beds in the back. Either as a gateway to the Broads, or as a destination in itself, you can’t go wrong.

Original fireplaces and bread ovens, exposed brick walls and wooden beams – no wonder it's Grade II-listed. And, surprisingly, it's super roomy, with multiple living spaces, a high-spec kitchen and a small conservatory that's the perfect spot to sip a cup of tea in the sunshine. After rustling up dinner in the country kitchen (which is has everything you'll need to cook), sprawl out on the squishy leather sofas for a movie night – there's Prime, Netflix and Disney+, so you'll have plenty of options. On summer days, take your relaxing out into the enclosed garden, nursing a glass of wine or firing up the barbecue as the kids (and dogs) let loose in the fresh air.

Nestled in Salhouse in the idyllic Norfolk Broads, this area calls for long walks through the beautiful countryside and boat rides down the River Bure. There are two fantastic village pubs and a quaint tea room within walking distance, plus many more along the water in the Broads. It's a twenty-five-minute drive to Caister-on-Sea if you fancy a beach day, and fifteen to Norwich when you crave a bit more pace. All in all, this is a lovely spot for the whole family to unwind and recharge.

The Warmth of Spring

With its thatched roof and shuttered windows, you couldn't ask for a cuter cottage than this Grade-II listed address sitting in the middle of a country estate in rural Norfolk.

Although it dates back to the 19th century, the interior is a little more contemporary than you might expect, save for the wooden beams and winding staircase. White walls and framed pictures lend the feel of an art gallery, while the cosy kitchen with a Belfast sink retains a rustic air. And what could be a better way of ending the day than with a long and languorous soak in the freestanding bathtub?

When the weather forecast makes for kind reading, the home has a private patio complete with a hot tub, barbecue and plenty of furniture to help you make the most of it. Alternatively, it doesn't take too long to reach the Norfolk coastline – Sea Palling Beach is twenty minutes' drive away, for instance. The city of Norwich is only half an hour away in the car, too.

When nothing but a crisp pint in a pub garden will do, the White Horse is a fifteen-minute walk away. Spend balmy afternoons strolling along the unspoilt beaches of Caister-on-Sea, reached in twenty minutes by car, or head into the city of Norwich to sample the fantastic selection of independent shops, cafes and restaurants.

Although the Norfolk coastline is only half an hour's drive away, you don't even have to get in the car if you fancy a refreshing dip while staying here. Out in the garden, a heated swimming pool will be the place to play and relax all throughout the summer months.

When the British weather has other ideas, however, there's plenty to like about the home's interior, too. The long living room benefits from big windows at either end so there's plenty of natural light, while the kitchen is both generous with surface space and finished in a fetching shade of mint green.

In the local area, there are distractions to appeal to guests of all persuasions. BeWILDerwood theme park takes seven minutes to reach in the car, while Wroxham Barns is a twelve-minute drive away. There's no shortage of walking routes and watersports opportunities in the surrounding Norfolk Broads as well.

Flight of the Canaries

Looking at this modern home, set in the rural countryside of Norfolk, you might not be fully convinced of its former life as a dilapidated cattle farm, but the clues are there if you know where to look. The wooden beams, for one, add plenty of character and warmth, and so does the exposed brick.

The other benefit of it having been a farm, is that there is acreage for days. In almost every direction you look, you’ll be met with untamed flora to make mornings seated out front with a fresh coffee the sort of peaceful affair you need to fully unwind. On balmier days, spend time out barbecuing, a local cider in hand, or if that seems like too much effort, open the bifold doors and let the breeze into the living area where we hope you’ll be plopped on the sofa with a good book.

Between this gorgeous space – inside and out – and the hot tub, you might not have time for much else, but don’t let the quintessential pub visit stay on the bucket list. Besides, there’s nothing like a fish and chip lunch after a visit to one of the sandy beaches.

Set in the sleepy village of Hevingham, and with field upon field surrounding you – there's little in the way of bustle here. The Norfolk Broads National Park, Norwich and the mighty Norfolk Coast are all half an hour's drive.

As for your locations, this cottage is tucked away in the 'Capital of The Broads', close to the Broads National Park. Norwich is a short drive away, and a few beaches dotted along the coast lies within driving distance.

A stay in The Broads delivers more than just stunning scenery – with watersports, boating, cycling and birdwatching at your fingertips, all you need is a good base to enjoy them from. This rural home in Ludham is a little traditional, and you won’t find any modern features here, though it’s a comfortable and cosy space to return to at the end of a day at Horsey Gap Beach. The garden allows you to make the most of the sunshine, and while the fireplace is only decorative, the living room is a great spot to enjoy a glass of wine.

Seashells

This charming cottage provides scenic views of the Norfolk Broads right from its living room. Sit with a book by the electric fireplace, occasionally pausing to gaze out at over the green hills of East Anglia. The cute, country-style kitchen is compact but has everything you need for self-catering. 

Embark on a hike, straight from your front door, stopping for birdwatching and fishing by Womack Staithe. Back at home you can sunbathe in the courtyard and plan a picnic in the shades of the towering oaks in the communal garden. 

Head east for the Horsey Gap Beach and west for the historic city of Norwich, which is packed with museums, bars and restaurants. For something a little quainter, stroll along the banks of the River Thurne in the village of Ludham.

As well as having all the essentials for a romantic getaway, there are house plants, colourful pieces of artwork and a turquoise accent wall to give the place a bit of character without overdoing it — one of the hosts is an interior designer, can't you tell? Out through the glass door, there's a large garden with a cosy seating area at the far end and plenty of potted plants dotted about. You'll find that there's a real sense of peace here. The local village of Banningham is small — albeit with a well-recommended gastropub — and there are plenty of outdoor excursions to fill your days with nearby. The birthplace of Anne Boleyn, Blickling Estate, takes ten minutes to reach in the car, while Cromer Beach is a seventeen-minute drive away, too.

Escape for some fresh coastal air and bring your friends or family members along with you. It's a spacious and stylish apartment with plenty of seating, pops of colour and tasteful decor. Perfectly placed, walk to sandy Great Yarmouth Beach in less than twelve minutes and be at Nelson's Monument and the lively town centre in under half an hour. We'd especially recommend a trip to the Merrivale Model Village if you're after a fun family day out – as with most of the popular attractions, it's well within reach here.
