This classic 19th-century brick and flint beauty lives anew as a palatial home with plenty of wow factor. Located close to the village’s 14th-century church and cosy country pub, this home is the perfect place for celebrations with family and friends. Inside, the rooms range from regal to rustic, with a carefully created mix of traditional, antiquated, and modern touches. The stunning dining room is ideal for sumptuous dinner parties fit for royalty, who can be found on the Sandringham estate nearby. The library is our favourite spot for taking a moment to unwind and relax, flicking through the ample books provided.

Meanwhile, an upstairs galleried landing with a vaulted ceiling and cosy open fire provides more of an unassuming, homely charm, while downstairs the garden room basks in natural daylight. Outdoors, the garden provides plenty of space for children and the family dog to roam freely. There's also plenty to do locally too. Spend a day on the beach at one of Norfolk’s stunning sandy beaches (several are dog-friendly), walk the Peddars Way and pop over to neighbouring Great Massingham, a picturesque village with two charming duck ponds and the Dabbling Duck Inn.

If you're looking for a luxurious, romantic retreat in Norfolk – this newly refurbished cottage could be the place for you. Unwind with a glass of Champagne in the hot tub at the end of the beautiful garden, filled with roses and other cottage garden plants. Later, settle down in the reading corner, next to the log burner, with a good book and a glass of wine from the wine chiller. We adore the vistas over the green and village pond from this cottage – it's the picture-perfect view. As night falls, have a long soak in the free-standing bath with the organic toiletries provided – utter bliss. Your lovely hosts have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable, from bathrobes and slippers to treats for your four-legged friends (if you're bringing the pooch). The next day enjoy breakfast in the light, contemporary glass dining room overlooking the garden. Then, pop over the road for lunch if you don't fancy cooking – one of the top five gastropubs in the area is right opposite. Afterwards, perhaps walk off all that lovely food with a stroll around the village with its pretty duck ponds. For a day at the beach – Old Hunstanton Beach is a thirty-minute drive away – so you can have the best of both coast and country. It doesn't get much more idyllic than this. 

The Shelduck

This gorgeous barn conversion, made of local flint and brick, is nestled in a tranquil spot in the glorious Norfolk countryside. We love the character here, especially the vaulted ceilings and exposed beams in the living space. This country retreat is perfect for entertaining your family and friends. On warm days, relax in the sheltered courtyard or the undercover seating area with its twinkly lights – ideal for a glass of Champagne as the light fades. A wildlife lovers paradise, you'll see your host's Guineafowl roaming around, while you may be lucky enough to spot barn owls or otters in the surrounding area. Pensthorpe Natural Park, as featured in BBC's Springwatch, is a fifteen-minute drive away, while Sculthorpe Moor Nature Reserve, home to the Hawk and Owl Trust is under a ten-minute drive. It's the same distance to the market town of Fakenham, with its weekly market, cinema, bowling centre and shops.  On the other hand, if you fancy a day at the beach, this home is only thirty minutes in the car from the North Norfolk coast, much of which is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Countryside landscapes surround the settlement, but you can also stroll out to find pubs and traditional chip shops in the heart of the village. Your home would have formerly been a hub of prayers and song, but now stands as a luxurious holiday pad.

While the exterior is true to its original purpose, you’ll be stunned by the elegant decor inside. Wander across the fields to the deserted medieval village of Godwick, where a ruined church tower juts out from the ground. It’s also a half-hour drive to Wells-Next-the-Sea, a pretty seaside town in the Norfolk Coast AONB. The 19th-century stable block has been transformed into a cosy country bolthole for a family or group of friends. You can spot the village’s old church tower from your private garden, where a patio provides a place to sit in the sun and fire up the gas barbecue, and a vast lawn stretches before you. Or, head inside to the sunny kitchen diner where dining is set for the whole group. Scandi-chic interiors make for a relaxing living room, set around a traditional wood-burning stove should the weather turn chilly. Bedrooms blend in with the estate’s wonderful ladscape, with autumnal tree motifs on feature walls lulling you off to sleep. Here, you can look forward to spending your evenings curled up with a good book from the bookshelf and enjoying home-cooked meals in front of the log-burning fire on colder evenings. If the sun is shining, make the most of the charming garden – kids and furry friends will love the runaround whilst adults can sit back with a local cheeseboard. There are two sitting rooms here, which is ideal when everyone has their own routine. Set the little ones up in front of a film in the snug, and sink into the sitting room sofas for a glass of Picpoul de Pinet. 

And after a day of cliff-top walks along the North Coat Path and memorable birdwatches at RSPB Titchwell and Cley, this is precisely the kind of warm and welcoming home you long for.

Surrounded by walking trails and lush grounds, it’s a real escape – as soon as you spot the mansion-like house on the approach, you’ll feel your worries melt away. 

Ideal for entertaining large groups, this home has heaps of space, with a room for every occasion. You might begin your day in the breakfast room, tucking into a hearty breakfast together as you plan your day. Perhaps you’ll then sip coffee in the orangery, which looks out over the heated swimming pool. After a dip, tennis might be on the cards, or if that’s a little too energetic, perhaps a refined game of croquet on the lawn? You might explore the grounds, or curl up in the sitting room with a book and enjoy some peace and quiet. Kids will love the games room on the second floor, where they can play table football and watch movies. 

If you’ve something to celebrate, the formal dining room is a fabulous spot for dinner. You’ll dine beneath a chandelier in this grand space – you’ll definitely want to pop open the Champagne. For more informal meals, we love the alfresco dining area. Fire up the barbecue and dine late into the evening outside, alongside the pool. It’s easy to forget you’re in England here – it feels almost Mediterranean. 

There’s plenty to keep you at the house during your stay, but if you want to venture out, you’ll be well rewarded. There are gorgeous walks along River Wensum to be discovered, starting from the 17th-century Raynham Hall just outside the village. Further afield, you can paddle in the shallows at Holkham Beach, which is thirty-three minutes away by car. Nature-lovers will want to drive the thirty-two minutes to the seal colony at Blakeney Point – it’s a wonderful sight.

The Queen’s Court

This postcard-pretty detached flint cottage, set in the charming village of Sedgeford in North West Norfolk, may have old bones (circa. 1880), but pure modern luxury awaits inside.

The very embodiment of all things English and classic, there’s an open-plan living and dining area with a magnificent inglenook fireplace at its heart and storybook armchairs feathered by sheepskins and plump cushions just waiting for you to sink right in. When tummies start to rumble, there’s a charming 19th-century pub just a short walk from the cottage for upper-crust grub and fine ales. Or blaze a trail to search out lip-smacking fish and chips and lashings of ice creams along the seafront in nearby Old Hunstanton – it would be rude not to.

Nestled behind a wrought iron gate with a rose-clad archway, there’s a touch of the Hansel and Gretel about this cute-as-a-button period cottage for two, set in the popular West Norfolk village of Stanhoe.

What about the address? Well, the location is great – this home is situated in Burnham Market, a picturesque, leafy village with plenty of boutiques, while about six miles away lies Wells-next-the-Sea.

For your seaside fix, it's just a twenty-minute drive to some of North Norfolk's finest sandy beaches, including Old Hunstanton and Holkham. And close by is also the Holkham Hall & Estate – a grand, stately home as well as a deer park and a lake with boats to hire.

Alternatively, head to Burnham Market, less than a ten-minute drive away. Visit the indie shops that flank the village green, then pop into the Hoste Arms pub for a well-deserved gin and tonic.

With sweeping views over Norfolk’s iconic salt marshes and out to sea, this home is a retreat in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The large house is a brilliant base to explore this stretch of coast - birdwatchers will want to decamp to RSPB Titchwell Marsh or Holme Dunes, walkers have got miles of coastal path to stomp, while sunnier days are best spent playing on the sand on Brancaster Beach. If the weather isn’t playing ball, the sea is still all around - dinners in the dining room are set to a backdrop of the coast, while the garden has a BBQ when alfresco eating is possible. It’s only a short walk into the village of Thornham, which has several renowned restaurants, as well as a deli to stock up on local goodies.
