Approached through a gated entrance and onto a gravel drive, everything about this place is pretty special. Tucked away in a select group of Grade II listed buildings, this home may be historic but it's modern and stylish inside. The living room is the heart of the home, with comfortable furnishings, and there's a smart kitchen with a walk-in pantry and a pretty dining nook with bench seating for six. With everything thought of, there are books and games for rainy afternoons and outside a lovely lawned garden and barbecue patio for when the sun shines. On the edge of the Georgian town of Holt, it's an easy walk to the shops, pubs and restaurants, and just a short drive to the Norfolk coast and the towns of Sheringham and Cromer.  

Manor Mews

Is there anything more quintessentially British than staying in a converted pub? We don't think so. Dating back to 1715, this Grade 2 listed ale house in the North Norfolk town of Holt is a delightful escape. Recently refurbished, the owners have taken great care to restore the original wooden beams, brickwork and fireplaces. We love the bedrooms, all named after teas. After a busy day, there’s nothing better than relaxing in front of the wood burner with some fish and chips from across the road. And of course, pour yourself a pint. You're in a former pub after all.

Surrounded by bustling bars, cafés and shops, you'll have plenty to do in the area. Spend the day strolling through the village – we recommend browsing the local art galleries or having a spot of afternoon tea at one of the many tearooms (there's a charming one right next door). If you're longing for sea and sand, drive fifteen minutes and you'll reach Sheringham Beach and the Norfolk Coast. 


Ale House Dreams

Old Georgian charm meets modern upgrades in this brick and flint cottage in Holt. With high vaulted ceilings crisscrossed by wooden beams, the home is brimming with character and charm. Families will love the ample space to relax together, with a large dining table to sit around and share meals and stories between trips into the traditional market town. The mezzanine floor provides a second sitting area, ideal for the kids to gather with their video games or the adults to enjoy a quiet morning coffee. Holt is famous for its local art galleries, antique markets, and bookshops, positioning the home in one of North Norfolk's prime spots. Ten minutes off the beaten track, you'll find 84 miles of coastline adorned with salt marsh views and seaside towns. 

Grandfather Clock

Tucked away in a quiet loke in the Georgian town of Holt, this brick and flint cottage is perfectly placed for exploring Norfolk’s countryside and coastline. 

Contemporary furnishings take on an elegant twist in the living room with plump striped sofas and a wood burner inviting you to put your feet up with a good book or a board game. The two bedrooms, meanwhile, are country chic with their wood-framed beds and clean, pared-back minimalism, while the bathroom’s clawfoot tub and rainfall shower provide the perfect bookends to any day. With a lovely front courtyard in which to enjoy a morning cup of coffee or celebratory sundowner, you’ve got everything you need for a perfectly peaceful getaway. 

Outside of your home, the town’s boutiques, antique galleries and pubs wait to be sampled right on your doorstep, while those looking to sink their toes in the sand can make a beeline for Sheringham Beach, a fourteen-minute walk away.  Holt’s North Norfolk Steam Railway is also just under a thirty-minute walk away (or four minutes by car) and the medieval city of Norwich is a forty-minute drive from your door. 


Stony Way

Built back in 1835, this cottage in the Norfolk town of Holt is approaching its 200th birthday, although you wouldn't be able to tell from the contemporary interior. The soothing palette of muted greys and chic furnishings are completely in keeping with the 21st century rather than the 19th, save for an eclectic collection of curios and mementoes on the shelves.

Arguably the home's best feature is a modern addition – the conservatory is blessed with natural light and is a lovely place to enjoy dinner regardless of the season. It also gives you a view of the back garden, which has another table plus a charcoal barbecue ready and waiting for summer evening feasts.

One thing that hasn't changed in the years since the house has been standing is  the quality of the location. The Georgian architecture of Holt is lovely to wander about and there are shops, cafes and art galleries with which to fill up your afternoon. Further afield, the rugged Norfolk coastline isn't too far away – Salthouse Beach takes ten minutes to reach in the car.

Time Machine

Afternoons are for exploring the surrounding countryside and nearby seaside towns. Enjoy strolling through Holt Country Park, a twenty-minute walk away, or jump in the car and take the fifteen-minute drive to Sheringham. Pick your way across the pebbles of Sheringham Beach then fill up on fish and chips in a highly-rated eatery. 

Head home in the evening, windswept and salty-haired, for a cup of Earl Grey and a chunk of Norfolk shortcake in front of the crackling wood-burning stove.

There’s much to love about this village – check out the buzzing cafes and shops selling local produce, and have a wander around the 100-acre Holt Country Park. You’re also only a ten-minute drive from the scenic North Norfolk coastline, where you’ll find nature reserves, beautiful seaside towns and wide, sandy beaches.

The Printer’s Den

With real attention to detail, the home perfectly captures both the rustic comfort of a cottage and the modern-day furnishings you’d expect from a holiday accommodation, and throw in some nice nautical elements just to remind you that you’re near the coast. 

And not just any coastline either. Skirting the Norfolk Coast of Outstanding Beauty, you can use this home as a base for exploring Holkham Beach, Sand Dunes, Brancaster Beach, and more, all under an hour drive away. 

Closer to home you can visit Salthouse Beach and return to the comfort of this home after. If you’re windswept, why not warm up with a soak in the tub, followed by a cup of coffee in front of the wood-burning stove in the cosy living space. 

The generous kitchen has more than enough space for a few pairs of helping hands, so tackle meal duties together and enjoy the result at the farm style dining kitchen. Spend evenings playing board games or watching movies together until heavy lids and tired feet lead you to bed.

You’ll find this adults-only, flint cottage tucked away in a quiet cul-de-sac just a five-minute stroll from Holt’s thriving high street. Perfect for two couples wanting to holiday together, there are two bathrooms to speed mornings along. The interiors may feel a little dated for some, but it’s all well-cared for, and the garden opening onto a private, enclosed wood with visiting deer is a nice touch. Location-wise, there’s plenty to walk to in Holt, but you’ll need a car for beach days. Get off to a flying start in Blakeney, just five miles away.

Deer's Leep

You’ll find this modern cedar-clad lodge in the heart of Holt, a historic Georgian town in rural Norfolk. There are a lot of modern conveniences too, including a Bluetooth speaker, two flat-screen TVs and a remote-controlled shower. And the location couldn't be better – on your doorstep are Holt's charming shops, cosy pubs, quaint cafes and local art galleries. After a day strolling through town or exploring North Norfolk, come back home to fire up the barbecue in the garden for an alfresco meal. Then unwind with a soak in the tub or pop a vinyl on the record player as you relax on the sumptuous sofas, a glass of bubbly in hand.

Old meets new in this homely holiday cottage in the middle of Holt. Thanks to its open-plan layout, this home offers you plenty of room to retreat to a cosy nook — while still being in earshot of the conversation. It has a fantastic location, with the town centre right outside your front door, but if you would rather just switch off and enjoy each other's company, this home away from home will be the perfect place for that. The interiors are uncomplicated and modern, making it quick and easy to settle in. Spend your days on the sofa catching up on your favourite shows, type away at the dedicated workspace, or challenge someone to a game of football on the open-plan mezzanine. It looks over the dining table downstairs, so you'll be able to smell when supper is ready.
