Set in the peaceful village of Horningtoft, this beautifully converted 19th-century chapel offers a cosy countryside escape. Inside, the open-plan layout feels bright and inviting, with a mezzanine sleeping area and views over the surrounding fields. The private garden is perfect for outdoor dining, where you can watch the sunset and sometimes a barn owl across the paddock. With Wells-next-the-Sea, Holkham Hall, and the North Norfolk coast just a short drive away, it’s an idyllic base for exploring the region’s beauty and heritage.

The Manor Abode

Perched beside the River Great Ouse, this country cottage is a breath of fresh air waiting to be experienced just 4 miles away from the small town of Ely. A new eco-build, bursting with style and character, the interiors present a soothing Nordic palette with bright pops of colour. Think Scandi-style furniture, bright decorative features and tons of open space. The kitchen, living room and dining space is undoubtedly the hub of the house and where the whole group can come together for home-cooked meals in and cosy moments of relaxation by the log burner. Order an Ocado, Sainsbury’s or Tesco delivery directly to the cottage in time for your day of arrival, so that the fridge is well-stocked from day one. Grab a book and snuggle up, following an afternoon of hiking and exploring the local countryside – you'll be nestled in an enviable rural location here with scenic views across the Fenland countryside. It goes without saying that the outdoorsy type will fall truly in love with this address as guests will have access to fishing, cycling, canoeing, walking and bird-watching – all in less than a twenty-minute drive away. If you're looking for a countryside retreat for a larger group – it's worth knowing that the host also has three other cottages on-site which in total can sleep up to sixteen guests. 


Riverside Bungalow

Don't you just love a garden with a sea view? Even better, this charming semi-detached cottage is next to a lighthouse, built in 1833. There's no need to worry – the lighthouse doesn't have a fog signal, so you won't be jumping whenever it's misty (though it does need regular maintenance, so staff may visit during your stay). Even inside, you can admire the vistas of the lighthouse, sea and neighbouring golf course (yes, you heard that right, golf lovers). If you prefer the beach, Cromer, with its traditional pier and colourful beach huts, is a ten-minute stroll along the coastal path.

The Naval Captain

This home nestled in the picturesque countryside of North Tuddenham, Norfolk has a history. The 16th-century rectory, once home to poet William Cowper, was replaced in 1852 by Rev Barry, brother of the Parliament architect. You’ll find traditional features here, and steep stairs leading to certain parts of the home, so keep that in mind. There’s a beautiful garden with a west-facing terrace for summer barbecues, a childproofed pond, and an outdoor tennis court. Guests can also explore the on-site wood, which boasts scenic pathways leading to picnic spots. Seeking activities? Your host can help arrange clay pigeon shooting, game shooting, and fishing.

The Country Garden

Originally an inn, this cottage is one of the first buildings erected in the 15th-century town of Wells-next-the-sea. Now it welcomes large groups to enjoy a modern interior and a large south-facing garden.  Spot the views over the conservation area, thanks to its elevated position. The space is cosy, though it's worth noting that one of the bedrooms is without a door, so it might not feel the most private. Still, it is minutes away from the harbour and a fifteen-minute walk from Well's Beach. You're also in one of the UK's Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which you can explore more by car.

Sea Spray Cottage

A former pub built over 300 years ago, this stunning home in the quiet village of South Creake near the North Norfolk Coast is the perfect place for a group of friends or family to spend quality time together. From its two comfortable living areas to its sunny conservatory, games room and huge garden, this home is made for indulgent relaxation. Enjoy your morning coffee in the conservatory while you watch the ducklings splash in the garden’s stream. Then set off to explore Burnham Market and Wells-next-the-Sea, both just eight minutes away by car, or the coast, reachable in twenty. Back at home, kick back with a movie in the film room, curl up by the living room’s wood-burning fire, or treat yourself to a wonderfully calming at-home massage. There's also a dedicated office for those planning to work from home and a fun-filled games room in the garage with darts, an arcade game console, and a pool table. As the sun sets, sit down to an alfresco meal or arrange for a private chef to cook you up a memorable feast, then finish the night off with a soak in the luxurious freestanding bathtub. Better yet, pour yourself a glass of white fresh from the wine fridge and enjoy a starlit soak in the log-burning hot tub. 

The Old Chequers

As you'd expect from a lighthouse cottage (built in 1680), this home has sea views from the private garden and the living space. We love that the bedroom has been formed from the circular base of the lighthouse tower (though the bathroom is back up the stairs off the living room). And the good news is this lighthouse doesn't have a fog signal, so you won't be woken in the middle of the night. When you feel like exploring, a ten-minute stroll along the coastal path will take you to the North Norfolk town of Cromer, with its sandy beach and an array of shops and restaurants. Or for golf lovers, adjacent to the lighthouse is a golf course.

Sea Salt Harmony

This quirky converted church makes for an ideal creative countryside retreat. The open-plan downstairs, where the pews used to be, has been given over to create a vast double-height space with one double bedroom leading off it and a single and master bedroom found upstairs. The building was originally constructed as a Methodist chapel, and it retains some of that spiritual atmosphere, with a piano, drum kit and guitar – plus a fully equipped kitchen – at hand for whenever musical or culinary inspiration strikes.  Located in the village of Briston and just fifteen minutes from the coast, it's a great base to explore the natural beauty of the area and charming towns like Holt and Cromer. The butcher, baker and greengrocer (no candlestick maker, unfortunately), plus a Co-op, are only around a hundred metres away. At the same time, the local pub serves good food and is only a short walk away. If you'd like to see how the other half live, there are many stately homes and gardens to visit nearby, including Sandringham, the Blickling Estate and Holkham Hall, all within a thirty-five-minute drive.


Oh, Happy Day

A rural retreat with an almost embarrassing amount of charm, this thatched home dates back centuries and represents the best of Norfolk's architectural style. Carefully modernised and curated with stylish wall colours, art and a mix of antique and contemporary furniture, it's a fabulous space to unwind in unique surroundings. As well as a stunning historic home, it boasts a large, enclosed garden and a summer house to die for.  

Inside, the stripped-back, authentic character of this place is evident in the ancient beams, brick floors and inglenook fireplace. A comfy velvet sofa provides a modern twist but otherwise, the living room is dressed like it would have been a hundred years ago or so. Elsewhere there's a delightful country kitchen, a casual dining room and a midnight-blue TV room, along with a useful utility room and three gorgeous bedrooms.

And outside you'll find pretty gardens, along with a greenhouse and a deck for enjoying the sun. Step inside the summer house for the biggest surprise though. A lovely space for friends and family to socialise and eat together, it comes with a Scandinavian-style indoor barbecue cabin. 

Around half an hour's drive from both Diss and Norwich, you'll be deep in the country here so a car is essential, but there are great walks to be had nearby and the coast is around forty-five minutes away. Visit Southwold, Lowestoft and more for days out by the sea.



Reedgrass & Tallow

This charming cottage feels like a step back in time. It sits in the former stable block of an elegant Georgian Estate, dating back to the early-seventeenth century. Now a working farm, it's surrounded by four hundred acres of gloriously green pastures and ancient parkland – inhabited by herds of red deer, muntjac and an array of birdlife – which you're encouraged to explore. Here, you're just shy of a twenty-minute drive from the picturesque cathedral city of Norwich and the enchanting Norfolk Broads.

The exquisitely renovated interior is cosy and welcoming. Hardwood floors, exposed brickwork, and beam-clad ceilings offer a characterful canvas primed for relaxation. We especially love the sitting room with its plush velvet sofas and wood-burning fireplace, not to mention the delightful country-house kitchen, where a spacious dining table offers a lovely space for homecooked feasts with your clan. 

Framed by a grade-two listed stone wall and dense woodland, a private south-facing garden beckons you to feel completely immersed in nature. After a restful slumber in Egyptian cotton linens, step outside and enjoy your morning brew to the sound of birdsong and gently rustling leaves. Between adventures, spend your days sunbathing on the lawn, reading in the conservatory and, come sunset, sipping cocktails on the furnished patio.

Echoes of Spring

Set within over 100 acres of grounds, this handsome Georgian house is surrounded by manicured gardens, woodland walks and activities like clay pigeon shooting and archery. The home’s private garden features a heated swimming pool for sunny days and you can still sit and listen to the birdsong in the huge conservatory if the weather turns. Or, head inside to the games room for a round of pool or foosball by the wood-burning stove. The kitchen, with its gas range cooker and oodles of prep space, is more than big enough for the bustle of family breakfast time, and the old servant’s bells are still on display. Tucked into a corner of the kitchen you'll find a little TV snug, warmed by the purr of an Aga. Gather the group in the dining room with its view across the fields outside, or head up to the privacy of beautiful bedrooms, each decorated with its own motif – paisley and peacocks perhaps, or a princess-style four-poster and freestanding tub. If you don’t feel like cooking, the estate staff can arrange for a private chef, or you can make the short walk to the Brisley Bell which serves excellent food.  

Peacocks & Petticoats

Once a Wesleyan chapel, this dog-friendly home now provides a peaceful village retreat. The home strikes a balance between heritage and convenience, with rooms like the kitchen offering both rustic charm and modern practicality. There's plenty to appreciate up the large open staircase, including a freestanding bath in the main bedroom's en-suite bathroom and some lovely high ceilings. Outside, the seating in the garden offers a sunny alternative to the stone-floored charm of the main living area. You'll be just over half an hour from the picturesque Norfolk Coast, and can easily visit the local seals at Blakeney Point.
