This three-bedroom cottage in West Runton, a quaint village on the North Norfolk coast, offers an idyllic retreat for family and friends at any time of the year. In colder months, cosy up on the sofa beside the log fire and cook hearty meals in the fully-equipped kitchen. On sunny days, sit out in the garden or pack a picnic to take to the local blue-flag beach, just fifteen minutes’ walk away. There are three large bedrooms, one of which has patio doors leading out to the garden, and two bathrooms with rainfall showers (one over a bath). Days out can be spent walking the Norfolk Coastal Path or visiting the nearby seaside towns of Sheringham and Cromer - be sure to try some of the latter's famous crab while you’re there. The village itself has several pubs, restaurants and shops, as well as a links golf course. Be sure to read up about the West Runton Elephant before your visit - the fossilized mammoth skeleton was discovered in the beach cliffs in 1990.

What's not to love about this coastal cottage? It sits on an acre of tree-lined gardens, with a natural brook running straight through the grounds. Just over the footbridge lies West Runton Common, where shops, pubs, a National Trust property and the sea are all within walking distance. It's a mere sixteen-minute stroll to the sandy beach and a nine-minute drive to Cromer – as far as locations go, you couldn't ask for better.

Inside, personal touches are everywhere, from the welcome hamper full of local goodies to the Alexa speakers with Spotify in every room. The heart of the home is the fully-stocked modern kitchen – we think it's a dream to cook in, especially with a glass of wine in hand, and the eight-seater dining table calls for family dinners and free-flowing conversation. While barbecues and cocktail hours in the garden are a must-do during the warmer months, we think there's no cosier spot to relax than the garden room. In the summer, the rain-sensitive electric roof slides open to reveal blue skies and refreshing sea air, while the open firebox and leather sofa are perfect for snuggling up in the winter.

Quaint and cosy, this old shoemaker's cottage in the heart of Cromer is a perfect seaside retreat for two. It's just a two-minute walk from Cromer Beach and the Victorian pier, making it a top-notch spot for couples to unwind. 

Inside, the home hasn't lost any of its traditional charm, thanks to the wooden floors, timber beams and vintage furniture. Lighthouses and wooden shoes line the shelves, paying homage to the cottage’s excellent seaside location as well as its history. The living room is warm and comfortable — on chilly nights, snuggle in front of the electric fire with a good book and a glass of wine. While the kitchen is on the smaller side, it still has everything you need to whip up a quick breakfast or light lunch. 

When it's time for dinner, we recommend grabbing a bite to eat at one of the fabulous restaurants, delis, and cafés in town, then finishing off the evening with a nightcap at the pub across the road.

Don't you just love a garden with a sea view? Even better, this charming semi-detached cottage is next to a lighthouse, built in 1833. There's no need to worry – the lighthouse doesn't have a fog signal, so you won't be jumping whenever it's misty (though it does need regular maintenance, so staff may visit during your stay). Even inside, you can admire the vistas of the lighthouse, sea and neighbouring golf course (yes, you heard that right, golf lovers). If you prefer the beach, Cromer, with its traditional pier and colourful beach huts, is a ten-minute stroll along the coastal path.

On the ground floor, we love the open-concept dining-kitchen area, particularly the sleek surfaces and vintage film posters on the walls, while we've also got kind words for the cosy living room – we're betting you can already picture long nights playing board games by the wood burner. Upstairs, the freestanding bathtub will be a welcome sight for those who are fans of long and languorous soaks.

As an added bonus, the address has a private courtyard complete with an alfresco table and a barbecue that will serve you well during the summer months. If the sun makes a regular appearance during your stay, the town's pier, esplanade and beach can all be reached in under ten minutes on foot, while Felbrigg Hall, Gardens and Estate take a similar amount of time to reach in the car.

You can just tell by looking at this small home perched above the Sheringham coastlinethat there's an interesting backstory. And there is – it was once a Victorian toilet block until it fell out of use and was brought by the owner as a gift for his wife. Today, you'll find a truly unique home that brings you as close to the beach as you can get.

The first thing that will command your attention is the uninterrupted views of the North Sea, which you can admire from the floor-to-ceiling glass doors or with the wind on your face as you stand on the balcony. Despite the humble size of the home, the design doesn't feel cramped in the slightest, especially the horse-shoe-shaped kitchen that is more than big enough to cook up some hearty home-cooked fare. The only drawback is a lack of a dining table, but the balcony furniture can be used to seat all four inside.

As a glance out the windows will show you, Sheringham's beach can be reached in a matter of moments and you can continue wandering along the promenade into the town centre. Turning away from the sea, there are plenty of rural attractions to discover in surrounding Norfolk, including Felbrigg Hall, Gardens and Estate only fifteen minutes' drive away.

We didn't realise, you know, how many films have used Cromer as a film location – there are quite a few, so it's somewhat fitting that this home has its own cinema room with a huge flat-screen television. The kids will be delighted as there's also a games console to enjoy. 

We love the living room with its exposed brick walls, theatrical coloured lights and the large kitchen, which opens out onto the garden. Sip a cup of coffee or glass of wine here on warm evenings.

Then, head into Cromer for a meal at one of its many eateries. It’s no wonder this resort is a favourite with families – take a stroll down the pier and see the end-of-pier show (the only remaining one in the UK). There’s certainly plenty to do in this town – of course, there are the beaches and surfing hot spots, as well as the Amazona Zoo, the Cromer Museum and mini golf course. 

A bit further afield,  the vibrant town of Holt is around a twenty-minute drive away, while the 'capital of The Norfolk Broads', Wroxham, is around thirty-five minutes in the car. Norwich, on the other hand, can be reached in approximately forty minutes.

As you walk into the main living area of this Grade-II listed townhouse, we're pretty sure that it'll be the view out of the window that first grabs your attention. From this excellent vantage point, you can see the windswept sea and sands of Cromer Beach stretching on for miles. However, when you manage to finally prise yourself away from this panorama, you'll notice that the home's interior is pretty impressive, too. Neutral walls and floors in washed-out shades lend the feel of a beach hut, but the decor is livened up by several knowingly retro touches, such as the brown leather dining chairs and the burnt orange fridge. There might be squabbles as to who gets one of the two four-poster beds, but the other bedrooms are just as tastefully appointed. As you can probably infer from the view, the beach and pier don't take long to reach — about three minutes on foot to be precise — while you can also get to Felbrigg Hall and Gardens in six minutes by car.

If you can tear your eyes away from the view, that is. And just a smidge further, the coastal path for cliff-top walks leading to Sheringham in one direction or Cromer in the other.
