It's not every day you get to stay in a home dating back to the 18th century. However, this stone cottage in the Castle Howard Estate village of Coneysthorpe invites guests to do just that. Meanwhile, included in your stay, the owners offer a free voucher to use at the Castle Howard Farm Shop and free access to Castle Howard. While vintage pieces bring historic charm, modern home luxuries ensure comfort and practicality. The roll-top bath, for example, is a particularly sweet touch – and the perfect spot to relax after country walks on and around the grounds. Beyond the local area, you'll find the city of York, less than half an hour's drive away. 



Cottage on the Hill

This quirky flat in Sheffield has urban cool written all over it. Lush greens, bold oranges, leafy plants and bamboo accents give the place a natural, bohemian flair. We think it's as cosy as it is stylish, making it an excellent base to come home to after a busy day. The private balcony is the icing on the cake – it's the perfect spot to sip morning coffees and evening cocktails as the sun goes down. Everything you need for a relaxed stay is taken care of – there are two stylish bathrooms so nobody needs to wait in line, Netflix on the smart TV if you want to chill at home and a desk if you need to do a bit of work. Cooking is anything but a chore in the sleek kitchen, which has plenty of dinnerware for when you're in the mood to rustle up a meal. Java junkies will also be pleased to see both a Nespresso machine and a cafetiere. Best of all, the location is pretty much perfect. Set in vibrant Kelham Island, there's a wealth of independent eateries, bars, music venues and pubs within walking distance. Plus, the city centre is just a twenty-minute stroll away – trust us, you'll never be short on things to do here.

Are You Mine

With just a short walk to the beach, this apartment has a great address. Most attractions this seaside town has to offer are in walking distance, including the Italian Gardens. You’ll find plenty of pubs, restaurants and cafes on your doorstep too. Back at this home, housed in a historic building, we love the open-plan living room with its views of the town, as well as glimpses of the North Sea. It’s a fantastic place to relax after a fun-packed day.

Scarborough View Bliss

Lovingly renovated and carefully restored, Clare and Paul have turned this barn into a contemporary but warm home. Expect bold florals in the main bedroom, inviting sink-in sofas in the living space and a fully-equipped kitchenette for cooked breakfasts on slow-start mornings.

One side of the barn overlooks rolling hills and patchwork fields, so you can watch the sheep grazing while you relax with a mug of tea on the royal blue loveseat. Then there’s the outside space, which boasts a hot tub for soothing tired muscles after long hikes through the Peaks and a seating area for cream tea in the sunshine.

If country walks are on the agenda, there are a number of public footpaths by your front door and the serene Combs Reservoir is a mere seven-minute walk away. If you’re keen to explore a little further afield, the charming spa town of Buxton is reached in fifteen minutes by car. And when the day draws to a close, sip a gin and tonic in a nearby pub before heading back to your pad to watch a purple dusk fall over the countryside.

Where Skylarks Sing

Set in a tiny hamlet above bohemian Hebden Bridge, the location of this home is everything.  Thick with artists, crafters, beekeepers, and people who like to do things a bit differently, HB must be one of the most unique villages in England. That quirky, independent spirit carries through into this cottage, with its eclectic mix of furnishings. Think classical with touches of the Middle East, craft crockery and striking wall art. The tree-filled garden is just the place for a morning chai latte, before browsing Hebden Bridge’s independent boutiques, watching an art-house film at the 1920s Picture House, or making a literary pilgrimage to Sylvia Plath’s grave in the ruined churchyard across the road. If you’d like an outdoorsy interlude from all that arts and culture, the surrounding countryside is prime territory for hiking. Come back to your small but perfectly formed base for an evening of love, laughter and stories around the firepit. 

Counting Stars

In the heart of the breathtaking Holme Valley, surrounded by unspoiled landscapes, traditional towns and quiet villages, this stylish home provides a tranquil retreat in West Yorkshire. Boasting a private terrace overlooking the River Holme, you can spend picture-perfect mornings drinking coffee as the water travels past. 

You'll be based in Thongsbridge, which is home to an array of independent shops, antique treasures, and markets, plus the unique Art Market which features 100 exhibiting artists and designers. It's a popular spot among walkers and wildlife lovers, too, meaning you're never short of things to see and do here. Spend your days discovering the region's best natural beauty spots, or shopping for one-of-a-kind finds to take home to friends, before heading back home to relax for the evening. 

Accomplished cooks will no doubt appreciate the glossy kitchen, where you can whip up tasty meals for the whole family. Take your food outside to dine alfresco – the sight of the sun setting over the river banks is quite a sight to behold. Take it all in whilst sipping a glass of wine.

In the quiet village of Middlesmoor, with views overlooking the Gouthwaite Reservoir, this charming home offers a quintessential English country escape amongst lush greenery of the Yorkshire dales.

With the Yorkshire Moores practically on your doorstep, adventure seekers will have plenty of hiking trails and cycling paths to keep them entertained, but if you find yourself craving a taste of city life, jump in the car and take a drive out to the sophisticated spa town of Harrogate for a day of shopping and sightseeing.

Nestled in Nidderdale 

In a secluded setting amid the valleys of the Peak District, this restored historic home offers a luxurious and unique stay for a large group, whether for a co-working retreat or a family reunion. Up to thirty guests can be accommodated, with ten sleeping in the curtained single beds in the attic room. You’ll be based in the idyllic village of Wildboarclough, with the River Dane surrounding the home on three sides – is there anything better than drifting off to sleep to the sound of rippling water? With wood-fired hot tubs, an indoor pool, and pizza ovens, you’ll have plenty to keep you entertained here. 

Posh Peaks

Warm and welcoming, this cosy apartment offers laid-back lodging for those looking to make the most of their stay in the historic city of Lincoln. It's based in a fantastic central spot, so you'll have plenty of excellent bars and restaurants right on your doorstep, and you'll be just a short stroll from some great galleries and museums. 

Inside the apartment, you'll find soft and snug living spaces that are designed to make you feel right at home, together with contemporary artwork that gives the home some modern flair.

Whether you’re curled up in front of the log-burning stove or allowing your cares to melt away in the outdoor hot tub, this quaint cottage will wrap you up in a blanket of comfort and calm. The place is charmingly rustic, in keeping with its old granary heritage – think exposed timber beams, low ceilings, wood elements and cosy furnishings. Get to know your neighbours on arrival – your home is situated next to the paddock where Dave the llama and Bob the pony roam and graze. When you’re ready to explore, lace up your walking boots and delve into the surrounding Yorkshire countryside, or head out to York city centre, just a twenty-minute drive away. Shop along the medieval Shambles before checking out the wealth of characterful restaurants, bars and cafes. 

Granary Cottage

Embrace the awe-inspiring landscapes of West Yorkshire with a stay at this cute-as-a-button cottage nestled away in the sleepy village of Luddenden.

Don your hiking boots to dive right into the Yorkshire Dales –⁠ there are footpaths just moments from your door. Jump in the car to explore the vibrant Calder Valley towns of Mytholmroyd (an eleven-minute drive) and, a smidge further, Hebden Bridge (a sixteen-minute drive). And don't forget Halifax's historic gems - Piece Hall and Dean Clough are an afternoon well spent (a fifteen-minute drive).

When it's time to refuel, mosey down the hill to Luddenden's traditional inn for real ale, hearty grub, and a warm welcome (five minutes on foot). Or you might prefer to channel your hygge back at home. Newly renovated and full of character, it's a charming place to come back to whatever the season. In the winter months, hunker down beside the fire and break out the board games while others rustle up a bite to eat in the pristine kitchen. And when the sun shines, there's a blissfully quiet garden for aperitifs and nibbles, with multiple terraces to chase the evening rays.

Happy Dales

It's easy to fall in love with the landscapes that inspired one of the greatest love stories of all time, Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights. This cottage, with its stunning views over the moors and Haworth, is a fabulous, romantic retreat. Enjoy the vistas with a glass of Prosecco (your lovely hosts provide a complimentary bottle, as well as strawberries and flowers). This place is perfect for couples celebrating an anniversary or those who just want to pamper themselves (and who doesn't?). We love the log burner, Yorkshire flag-stone floors and the four-poster bed. Have a luxurious soak in the freestanding roll-top bath after your journey – this opulent room has underfloor heating for toasty toes too. Your host Catherine really has thought of everything here.

When you're ready to explore, spend idyllic days roaming the countryside and moors right on your doorstep, like Brontë’s Heathcliff and Cathy. Or go for a ten-minute drive to literary mecca Haworth, and wander around its cobbled streets and the iconic parsonage.
