Its interior, filled with quirky maritime antiques, harks back to the town's smuggler history – in the eighteenth century, silk, tea, and gin were illegally brought ashore on the Yorkshire coast in such quantities that the alcohol was used for cleaning windows. Even today, the lively village is full of winding narrow lanes, with fishermen selling their fresh catch of the day. Walk for two minutes, and you'll be on the sandy beach - perfect for sunbathing or rock pool exploration. The village of Robin Hood's Bay is just five miles from the seaside delights of Whitby (and its two-mile-long beach). It's also part of the North York Moors National Park, so you can forget about the city and hike through unspoiled nature or take the authentic steam train through the hills for a more relaxed scenic journey. Thanks to its prime coastline location and eclectic history, Whitby has been drawing in tourists for hundreds of years and if you're tempted to pay a visit, this home is a great base from which to explore the Yorkshire town.

Rather ironically, it's what lies outside that makes this apartment special – gaze out through the windows and you're treated to a sublime view of the North Sea. There's also a private balcony just off the kitchen in case you fancy starting the day with coffee and the sun on your skin – can't we be optimistic?

There's also a lot to like about the interiors, too. You'll find the kitchen to be decently enough sized for bouts of home cooking and there are no complaints about the minimalist bedrooms, either.

We love the balcony that opens out from the living room – it boasts gorgeous views of Whitby and its harbour, and is the perfect spot for a morning cuppa.
