You’ll enter the windmill via an oak door located on a grass roof and from there make your way up a stone walled stairwell to the second floor bedroom suite. Pretend you're an Oxford don for the weekend at this spectacular garden-level Victorian home in the heart of the world-famous university city. This apartment is steeped in history and has some gorgeous original features, including spectacular bay windows in the living room, an ornate stone fireplace and buffed wooden floors. We can imagine a spectacular dinner party held at the industrial-style dining table, with its wooden top and steel legs, before retiring in the living room to admire the black and white Jackson Pollack-style artwork over a glass of wine. This home is in Summertown, Oxford's most bohemian neighbourhood, and well-known for its organic wine bars, buzzy restaurants and independent shops. The city's main sights - the university, cathedral and punting on the river - are all a 10-minute walk away.

With the mighty castle right around the corner and the famous Christ Church College and its riverside meadow just a seven-minute jaunt away, it's all going on here. Look even closer, and you'll find high-end bars, gourmet restaurants, and cosy cafes on your doorstep. Or if you're in the mood to shop, the Westgate Shopping Centre is just one minute away across the road. Now, how's that for a location? 

Back at home, there's a distinct Scandi feel about the modern apartment. Guests rave about how pristine and fresh the interiors are, and we'd agree. Crash out on the highly-sinkable sofas after days gallivanting about Oxford, and if you're in town on business, there's a handy desk to keep on top of emails.

Part of a lovingly converted farm building set within seventy acres of meadowland, this cottage embodies the Cotswold spirit. The interior is a handsome mix of wood panelling, exposed stonework and roaring fires, although there's plenty of modern amenities tastefully added in too — it’s easy to see why it bagged so many tourism awards. As it's part of a small community of five homes, there's also a wealth of communal amenities to enjoy, ranging from a hot tub and a hammock outside, to the combined games and workout room which is packed full of ways to while away rainy days. When the weather does play ball, you can play croquet, badminton, volleyball, Giant Jenga or try your hand at kite-flying. Alternatively, you can lace up your walking boots and head out into the countryside for a bracing walk. The town of Chipping Norton can be reached in ten minutes by car, too.
