East of the Cotswolds in the village of Eynsham, this eye-catching home is defined by its confident design choices. With a library so tall you'll need a ladder to reach the upper shelves, the double height living area stands out, as does the expansive kitchen with its turquoise walls and wood-topped island. The four bedrooms are perfectly comfy, though only two offer a king size bed, while there's a range of amenities across the two bathrooms and WC including a striking roll top bathtub. You'll also have access to the pleasant green garden, though we'd advise caution with some of the steeper banks. Eynsham is home to several charming pubs and shops, with Oxford and Burford both in easy reach.

With endless countryside views and a wonderful location, this home makes the ideal setting for a refreshing rural escape. It’s a short drive into the market town of Witney, while the close proximity to the Cotswolds means easy access to beautiful hiking and cycle trails. With views across Blenheim Park from the bedrooms, it’s impossible not to relax here. We love the conservatory, a tranquil spot for evening meals, and the garden is perfect for relaxing with a good book in the summer months. With a whole host of eateries in the village and surrounding area, dining out is sure to be on the menu, and for days out with the family, nearby Blenheim Palace and the Cotswolds Wildlife Park are must-sees.

This home is just as charming as the idyllic town in which it sits. The interior eschews minimalism for full-on floral patterns, characterful pieces of botanical artwork and vintage-inspired furnishings — can you honestly say you weren't happy to see that four-poster bed?

While the kitchen may be on the smaller side and lacks a hob, oven or cooking facilities, fortunately, there are plenty of restaurants in Woodstock, from a brasserie to less formal pubs. In addition, Blenheim Palace and its surrounding parkland can be entered in three mintues' walk from your front door. After many years unoccupied, this former barn was treated to a complete revamp in the late 2010s. Today, a remarkable home awaits guests visiting rural Oxfordshire. Huge glass walls and stark white walls mean that the space feels immediately bright and inviting, while there's a superb mix of modern touches and more homely furnishings — bold pieces of artwork and the sleek grey kitchen sit quite happily alongside deep red rugs and picnic baskets repurposed as coffee tables.

Out through the glass doors, there's a charming walled garden complete with a lawn, patio and neat plant beds. Bat boxes and an owl loft have also been incorporated into the property to help the local wildlife. If you fancy a little more nature-spotting, there are plenty of walking routes throughout the surrounding Blenheim Estate. The city of Oxford takes around twenty-five minutes to reach in the car, too.

From the moment you step inside, it feels luxurious – apt for a former financial building – with high-quality furniture and a serene, modern style complimenting original features like leaded windows and Victorian-style radiators. We were particularly struck by the lofty, open-plan living space, which is flooded with light, thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows, and has a sofa so wide and inviting you'll be hard pushed not to fall asleep on it while watching a movie on the 50-inch Smart TV. Also notable for its comfort is the super-king bed in the master bedroom with its crisp, white sheets and rose-gold bed frame. 

The home's location is a bonus too: Woodstock is charming, with plenty of boutique shops, galleries and cafes. Aside from Blenheim Palace, local sights include Daylesford Organic, Soho Farmhouse and the Burford Garden company, all within a thirty-minute drive, and the city of Oxford is just ten minutes away. This is a great stay you can bank on.

Sit around the fireplace and sip a glass of wine, or head out for a glorious walk with the family to Blenheim Palace. Oxford’s only a fifteen-minute drive away too. As the day nears an end, watch the wildlife from your window as the sun sets on the day.

Built in 1916 as housing for English Railway workers, this modern townhouse now sits in a beautiful location near the river. Opposite the somewhat iconic Osney Power Station – the first powerplant in Oxford – it's also within walking distance of some of the finest bars and restaurants. The house is modern after a renovation in 2017, where the addition of skylights also brightens the home. The garden is a nice bonus here, where garden furniture and a barbecue occupy the deck in the backyard.

While some spots of this home have reduced privacy, including the mezzanine bedroom and an en-suite bathroom with two access points, we love the open-concept living space for casual itinerary planning. The complimentary starter pack and baby travel equipment offer bonuses, but there are gaps in the garden fence which makes supervision necessary. With ample parking, ticking Blenheim Palace and the Bodleian Library off your bucket list is easy.

This Victorian townhouse has been renovated into a modern, stylish place to stay in Oxford. It’s a five-minute walk from the train station and just ten minutes from the historic centre of Oxford, where you can explore museums, shop for souvenirs, and dine out. Despite being centrally located, this townhouse is on a peaceful road, so you’ll be able to unwind here. We love the contemporary, cool kitchen and dining space, the heart of the home, and the fuss-free bedrooms. There’s even a garden to spread out in in summer.

Part of a former bank that was built next to Woodstock Town Hall back in the early twentieth century, we think this newly renovated apartment is a pretty sound investment. The interior benefits from large sash windows that let in oodles of natural light, while there's a distinct mid-century inspiration with the furnishings — our favourite being the Art Deco sideboard on which the Smart TV sits. The bedrooms are both large and finished in a relaxing palette of muted greys, while the master bathroom is a sleek treat, especially the tub after a long day exploring all that Oxfordshire has to offer. The sprawling grounds and stately home of Blenheim Park can be reached in just three minutes on foot, while the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is right on your doorstep and isn't short of breathtaking hiking routes to follow.

We can imagine a spectacular dinner party held at the industrial-style dining table, with its wooden top and steel legs, before retiring in the living room to admire the black and white Jackson Pollack-style artwork over a glass of wine. This home is in Summertown, Oxford's most bohemian neighbourhood, and well-known for its organic wine bars, buzzy restaurants and independent shops. The city's main sights - the university, cathedral and punting on the river - are all a 10-minute walk away.

While this serviced apartment may be part of a purpose-built, modern building, it feels surprisingly homely, and the Juliet balcony and shared gardens are a nice touch for any downtime. For local amenities, head to nearby Summertown's local shops and restaurants (half a mile on foot) or the bohemian neighbourhood of Jericho, just a 20-minute stroll away.

We dare you to find an apartment in Oxford with a more central location than this, folks. With the mighty castle right around the corner and the famous Christ Church College and its riverside meadow just a seven-minute jaunt away, it's all going on here. Look even closer, and you'll find high-end bars, gourmet restaurants, and cosy cafes on your doorstep. Or if you're in the mood to shop, the Westgate Shopping Centre is just one minute away across the road. Now, how's that for a location? 

Back at home, there's a distinct Scandi feel about the modern apartment. Guests rave about how pristine and fresh the interiors are, and we'd agree. Crash out on the highly-sinkable sofas after days gallivanting about Oxford, and if you're in town on business, there's a handy desk to keep on top of emails.

Cotswold Sanctuary

This charming farmhouse beckons many a guest seeking time away from the daily nine to five. Set in the quintessentially English village of Bladon, on the edge of the Cotswolds, you’re in a beautiful part of the world to down tools and set off exploring. Take a stroll around the village to seek out the parish's links to Sir Winston Churchill. Enjoy a brisk walk over to Blenheim Palace (thirty minutes on foot) to marvel at the monumental baroque architecture. Or jump in the car to visit the chocolate box villages of Stow-on-the-Wold and Burford, both just 30 minutes drive away. When thoughts turn to food, you’ll find plenty of pubs and restaurants in the pretty neighbouring town of Woodstock (a two-minute drive away). However, we wouldn’t blame you if you’d rather just cosy up at home. There’s a traditional kitchen made for action, with a large farmhouse dining table at its heart. We hear the welcome basket hamper of eggs, bread, milk, teabags, and other goodies has all you need to whip up a hearty breakfast. And when it’s finally time to lay your sleepy head, climb the winding staircase to discover serene bedrooms (each with en-suites) with soft, muted tones and beautiful antique furniture. Just like a traditional English cottage should be.

Beneath the Beech Tree

Standing tall on opposite sides of a stately courtyard, these two 17th-century homes exemplify palatial elegance. With one housing four guests and the other housing eight, this is perfect for family reunions or big groups looking to explore all that Oxford offers. 

After late-morning lie-in’s in the beautiful suites – think chandeliers, panelled walls, and corniced ceilings – you can come together in the courtyard to sit down for an alfresco breakfast. 

Venture out into Oxford, starting with the Castle on the opposite street before walking to the iconic university and stopping off at museums, cafes and shops. Evenings can be spent dining out at one of the many surrounding restaurants or seeing a show at the theatre. 

Upon returning, pour a glass of wine for the last bit of socialising under the stars. From there, treat yourself to a bubblebath before getting comfortable on the sofa with your favourite movie. 

The writers might want to call dibs on one of the suites with its own study. After a day in the medieval city, inspiration might strike, prompting you to write a midnight poem about “the city of dreaming spires”.

You’ll also find all of the bedrooms come with desks – making this a great option for remote workers.

The home sits in the historic part of a typically quaint Cotswold village, right on the edge of  Wychwood National Nature Reserve. Walk for a few minutes and you have a terrific country pub, a church, a spa, and a lovely fishing spot on the River Windrush.
