This home is just as charming as the idyllic town in which it sits. The interior eschews minimalism for full-on floral patterns, characterful pieces of botanical artwork and vintage-inspired furnishings — can you honestly say you weren't happy to see that four-poster bed?

While the kitchen may be on the smaller side and lacks a hob, oven or cooking facilities, fortunately, there are plenty of restaurants in Woodstock, from a brasserie to less formal pubs. There’s a bit of magic at this home. It’s a windmill tower that dates back to the 1700s, and has now been carefully renovated into a fabulous escape for couples or small groups. You’ll enter the windmill via an oak door located on a grass roof and from there make your way up a stone-walled stairwell to the second-floor bedroom suite. Next floor up is a kitchen with everything you need to rustle up some tasty food. At the top of the tower, there's a lounge with panoramic views across three counties. When you’re not admiring the views or enjoying a drink outside, you might drive into Oxford or to nearby Blenheim Palace.

Looking for an unusual Cotswolds’ home? Look no further than this charming apartment, located in a former bank in the town of Woodstock, within walking distance of Winston Churchill's birthplace at Blenheim Palace.

From the moment you step inside, it feels luxurious – apt for a former financial building – with high-quality furniture and a serene, modern style complimenting original features like leaded windows and Victorian-style radiators. We were particularly struck by the lofty, open-plan living space, which is flooded with light, thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows, and has a sofa so wide and inviting you'll be hard pushed not to fall asleep on it while watching a movie on the 50-inch Smart TV. Also notable for its comfort is the super-king bed in the master bedroom with its crisp, white sheets and rose-gold bed frame. 

The home's location is a bonus too: Woodstock is charming, with plenty of boutique shops, galleries and cafes. Aside from Blenheim Palace, local sights include Daylesford Organic, Soho Farmhouse and the Burford Garden company, all within a thirty-minute drive, and the city of Oxford is just ten minutes away. This is a great stay you can bank on.

The bedrooms are both large and finished in a relaxing palette of muted greys, while the master bathroom is a sleek treat, especially the tub after a long day exploring all that Oxfordshire has to offer. The sprawling grounds and stately home of Blenheim Park can be reached in just three minutes on foot, while the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is right on your doorstep and isn't short of breathtaking hiking routes to follow.

This 19th-century Cotswold cottage is perfect for an idyllic escape to the country. With a private garden full of hidden nooks outside, and a cosy log-burner inside, you’re set for any season here. The interior is a handsome mix of wood panelling, exposed stonework and roaring fires, although there's plenty of modern amenities tastefully added in too — it’s easy to see why it bagged so many tourism awards. As it's part of a small community of five homes, there's also a wealth of communal amenities to enjoy, ranging from a hot tub and a hammock outside, to the combined games and workout room which is packed full of ways to while away rainy days. When the weather does play ball, you can play croquet, badminton, volleyball, Giant Jenga or try your hand at kite-flying. Alternatively, you can lace up your walking boots and head out into the countryside for a bracing walk. The town of Chipping Norton can be reached in ten minutes by car, too.
