Pretend you're an Oxford don for the weekend at this spectacular garden-level Victorian home in the heart of the world-famous university city. This apartment is steeped in history and has some gorgeous original features, including spectacular bay windows in the living room, an ornate stone fireplace and buffed wooden floors. This home is in Summertown, Oxford's most bohemian neighbourhood, and well-known for its organic wine bars, buzzy restaurants and independent shops. We dare you to find an apartment in Oxford with a more central location than this, folks. With the mighty castle right around the corner and the famous Christ Church College and its riverside meadow just a seven-minute jaunt away, it's all going on here. Look even closer, and you'll find high-end bars, gourmet restaurants, and cosy cafes on your doorstep. Or if you're in the mood to shop, the Westgate Shopping Centre is just one minute away across the road. Now, how's that for a location? 

Back at home, there's a distinct Scandi feel about the modern apartment. Guests rave about how pristine and fresh the interiors are, and we'd agree. Crash out on the highly-sinkable sofas after days gallivanting about Oxford, and if you're in town on business, there's a handy desk to keep on top of emails.

The townhouse has been beautifully renovated to combine traditional features with contemporary touches – you can expect to find the original brick fireplace alongside modern amenities and stylish artwork. There’s a patio garden that faces east – it’s a wonderful spot for an alfresco breakfast.

In the idyllic Oxfordshire village of Stanton St John, this red-roofed barn conversation is the best of country and city. It may be a rural base, but the charming centre of Oxford is a fifteen-minute drive away. Stanton St John has everything you need with a village shop and farm shop within a five-minute walk. Plus, meandering country walks are right on your doorstep. The home itself has been beautifully designed, with honey-hued stonework fitting in with the rustic aesthetic and a wooden pergola dappled with climbing plants shading the outdoor seating area. Just next to this there’s a big lawn which creates the back garden. Glass folding doors open up to blend indoors with outdoors so you can listen to the hum of bees and smell the flowering lavender from the breakfast table. The living room is a cosy snug, dominated by the plush velvet corner sofa as oil paintings look on. Come bedtime, bedrooms in Victorian floral splendour provide a plush place to lay your head.

Although this characterful home gives hints of its long history, you wouldn’t know it from the super-sleek, contemporary kitchen. The south Oxford canal is less than a mile away, with great pubs along the route. Ideal for short- or long-term stays, this apartment is comfortable and practical. There’s even a private courtyard to enjoy in warm weather.

In the picturesque village of Wolvercote, just three miles north of Oxford’s city centre, you will find this pretty Victorian conversion home that overlooks an ancient meadow land called Port Meadow, which runs along the River Thames and into Oxford. Some residents, even have ancient grazing rights to keep horses, cattle, and geese in the meadow, so keep an eye out for animals as you explore the area.

Enjoy leisurely breakfasts on sunny mornings in the sun-trapped and walled rear garden with its pretty plants making it ideal for alfresco dining. We would also love nothing more than to spend some time quietly reading here too before we head out for the day. Visit the historic Oxford city centre – which can be reached in just three miles by car. Or, if you have plenty of energy, then Oxford can be reached by walking along the canal or across the meadow. 

Then, after a busy day, return home and cook delicious dinners in the handmade bespoke oak kitchen with its gas double oven, and dine alfresco in the courtyard garden.

At this centrally located home, guests can enjoy the best that Oxford has to offer without having to worry about the crowds. Tucked into a neat backstreet right behind the historic Oxford Castle, you can easily walk to all of Oxford's biggest attractions from here and the train station is also just a short walk away. Be sure to visit the Jam Factory, a nearby pub that promotes all local produce, for a great pint, wonderful company, and delicious food. Also, the Oxford Botanic Garden is Britain's oldest botanical gardens and always worth a visit.

Just outside of Oxford, this two-storey village home is a comfortable base from which to explore the surrounding area. With three seating areas, you'll find plenty of space to yourself here should you need it, while the main open-plan living area is perfect for coming together over drinks and food. Oxford is easily accessible here, being only 5 miles away, and closer to home you'll find a range of eateries, shops and pubs within walking distance, along with picturesque country walks.

Part of a former bank that was built next to Woodstock Town Hall back in the early twentieth century, we think this newly renovated apartment is a pretty sound investment. The interior benefits from large sash windows that let in oodles of natural light, while there's a distinct mid-century inspiration with the furnishings — our favourite being the Art Deco sideboard on which the Smart TV sits. The bedrooms are both large and finished in a relaxing palette of muted greys, while the master bathroom is a sleek treat, especially the tub after a long day exploring all that Oxfordshire has to offer. The sprawling grounds and stately home of Blenheim Park can be reached in just three minutes on foot, while the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is right on your doorstep and isn't short of breathtaking hiking routes to follow.

Looking for an unusual Cotswolds’ home? Look no further than this charming apartment, located in a former bank in the town of Woodstock, within walking distance of Winston Churchill's birthplace at Blenheim Palace.

From the moment you step inside, it feels luxurious – apt for a former financial building – with high-quality furniture and a serene, modern style complimenting original features like leaded windows and Victorian-style radiators. We were particularly struck by the lofty, open-plan living space, which is flooded with light, thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows, and has a sofa so wide and inviting you'll be hard pushed not to fall asleep on it while watching a movie on the 50-inch Smart TV. Also notable for its comfort is the super-king bed in the master bedroom with its crisp, white sheets and rose-gold bed frame. 

The home's location is a bonus too: Woodstock is charming, with plenty of boutique shops, galleries and cafes. Aside from Blenheim Palace, local sights include Daylesford Organic, Soho Farmhouse and the Burford Garden company, all within a thirty-minute drive, and the city of Oxford is just ten minutes away. This is a great stay you can bank on.


The Churchill

This delightful family home can be found in the quiet village of Church Hanborough, perfectly positioned for exploring Oxfordshire and the Cotswolds. There are pubs a mile away, and attractions including Blenheim Palace within easy reach. This home is ideal for families and groups of friends, as there’s lots of room for spending time together – though, with just one bathroom, you may need to coordinate shower slots. We love the open-plan living and dining space, which opens onto a pretty apple-tree-filled garden.

This home is just as charming as the idyllic town in which it sits. The interior eschews minimalism for full-on floral patterns, characterful pieces of botanical artwork and vintage-inspired furnishings — can you honestly say you weren't happy to see that four-poster bed?

While the kitchen may be on the smaller side and lacks a hob, oven or cooking facilities, fortunately, there are plenty of restaurants in Woodstock, from a brasserie to less formal pubs. In addition, Blenheim Palace and its surrounding parkland can be entered in three mintues' walk from your front door. Further afield, the walking routes and viewpoints of the Cotswolds AONB can be reached easily in the car.

After many years unoccupied, this former barn was treated to a complete revamp in the late 2010s. Today, a remarkable home awaits guests visiting rural Oxfordshire. Huge glass walls and stark white walls mean that the space feels immediately bright and inviting, while there's a superb mix of modern touches and more homely furnishings — bold pieces of artwork and the sleek grey kitchen sit quite happily alongside deep red rugs and picnic baskets repurposed as coffee tables.

Out through the glass doors, there's a charming walled garden complete with a lawn, patio and neat plant beds. Bat boxes and an owl loft have also been incorporated into the property to help the local wildlife. If you fancy a little more nature-spotting, there are plenty of walking routes throughout the surrounding Blenheim Estate. The city of Oxford takes around twenty-five minutes to reach in the car, too.

Just a stone's throw from Blenheim Palace and a fifteen-minute drive from Soho Farmhouse, this may be the peaceful Oxfordshire countryside, but there's so much to see and do. While many similar properties have had their original features removed or just covered up, The Bowler Hat presents a very authentic look, with lots of added stylish touches. Cosy up in from of a wood-burning stove or soak your troubles away in the sumptuous roll-top bath. The kitchen may look rustic but it's actually modernised and well-equipped – perfect to rustle up a feast to be enjoyed alfresco in your private sunny courtyard, British weather allowing.

If you are looking for a central base to use as a springboard to discover all that Oxford has to offer then look no further. The castle is just around the corner, and if you walk a hundred metres further, you’ll find yourself in among the colleges. Inside it’s all modernity – a far cry from the dreamy spires of the city centre, but fitting for a bolthole this close to the buzzing Westgate Shopping Centre. A curated collection of trinkets and bold modern art livens up gallery-white walls and a welcome hamper awaits your arrival, complete with coffee pods. The open-plan living area is a social space to unwind after a day exploring the cobbles and quads, and both bedroom have king-size beds so there’s no fighting over who gets the master. The icing on the cake is the little balcony, just off the dining area, with a bistro set for two.
