In the picturesque village of Wolvercote, just three miles north of Oxford’s city centre, you will find this pretty Victorian conversion home that overlooks an ancient meadow land called Port Meadow, which runs along the River Thames and into Oxford. Some residents, even have ancient grazing rights to keep horses, cattle, and geese in the meadow, so keep an eye out for animals as you explore the area.

Enjoy leisurely breakfasts on sunny mornings in the sun-trapped and walled rear garden with its pretty plants making it ideal for alfresco dining. We would also love nothing more than to spend some time quietly reading here too before we head out for the day. Visit the historic Oxford city centre – which can be reached in just three miles by car. Or, if you have plenty of energy, then Oxford can be reached by walking along the canal or across the meadow. 

Then, after a busy day, return home and cook delicious dinners in the handmade bespoke oak kitchen with its gas double oven, and dine alfresco in the courtyard garden.

Pretend you're an Oxford don for the weekend at this spectacular garden-level Victorian home in the heart of the world-famous university city. This apartment is steeped in history and has some gorgeous original features, including spectacular bay windows in the living room, an ornate stone fireplace and buffed wooden floors. But the styling is undoubtedly modern here, with an almost Scandinavian touch. We love the muted colours - creams, eggshell and dove grey - with the odd pop of colour in the bedrooms (check out the super-soft orange bedding) and geometric print furnishings in the living room. We can imagine a spectacular dinner party held at the industrial-style dining table, with its wooden top and steel legs, before retiring in the living room to admire the black and white Jackson Pollack-style artwork over a glass of wine. This home is in Summertown, Oxford's most bohemian neighbourhood, and well-known for its organic wine bars, buzzy restaurants and independent shops. The city's main sights - the university, cathedral and punting on the river - are all a 10-minute walk away.

Or if you're in the mood to shop, the Westgate Shopping Centre is just one minute away across the road. Now, how's that for a location? 

Back at home, there's a distinct Scandi feel about the modern apartment. Guests rave about how pristine and fresh the interiors are, and we'd agree. The interior benefits from large sash windows that let in oodles of natural light, while there's a distinct mid-century inspiration with the furnishings — our favourite being the Art Deco sideboard on which the Smart TV sits. The bedrooms are both large and finished in a relaxing palette of muted greys, while the master bathroom is a sleek treat, especially the tub after a long day exploring all that Oxfordshire has to offer. The sprawling grounds and stately home of Blenheim Park can be reached in just three minutes on foot, while the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is right on your doorstep and isn't short of breathtaking hiking routes to follow.

Looking for an unusual Cotswolds’ home? Look no further than this charming apartment, located in a former bank in the town of Woodstock, within walking distance of Winston Churchill's birthplace at Blenheim Palace.

From the moment you step inside, it feels luxurious – apt for a former financial building – with high-quality furniture and a serene, modern style complimenting original features like leaded windows and Victorian-style radiators. We were particularly struck by the lofty, open-plan living space, which is flooded with light, thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows, and has a sofa so wide and inviting you'll be hard pushed not to fall asleep on it while watching a movie on the 50-inch Smart TV. Also notable for its comfort is the super-king bed in the master bedroom with its crisp, white sheets and rose-gold bed frame. 

The home's location is a bonus too: Woodstock is charming, with plenty of boutique shops, galleries and cafes. Aside from Blenheim Palace, local sights include Daylesford Organic, Soho Farmhouse and the Burford Garden company, all within a thirty-minute drive, and the city of Oxford is just ten minutes away. This is a great stay you can bank on.

Oxford train station is a few minutes away on foot, and you can walk into the city centre in ten minutes. Despite being so close to the sights, this delightful home is on a quiet street that leads to a canal walk. The townhouse has been beautifully renovated to combine traditional features with contemporary touches – you can expect to find the original brick fireplace alongside modern amenities and stylish artwork. There’s a patio garden that faces east – it’s a wonderful spot for an alfresco breakfast.

There are pubs a mile away, and attractions including Blenheim Palace within easy reach. This home is ideal for families and groups of friends, as there’s lots of room for spending time together – though, with just one bathroom, you may need to coordinate shower slots. We love the open-plan living and dining space, which opens onto a pretty apple-tree-filled garden.

After many years unoccupied, this former barn was treated to a complete revamp in the late 2010s. Today, a remarkable home awaits guests visiting rural Oxfordshire. Huge glass walls and stark white walls mean that the space feels immediately bright and inviting, while there's a superb mix of modern touches and more homely furnishings — bold pieces of artwork and the sleek grey kitchen sit quite happily alongside deep red rugs and picnic baskets repurposed as coffee tables.

Out through the glass doors, there's a charming walled garden complete with a lawn, patio and neat plant beds. Bat boxes and an owl loft have also been incorporated into the property to help the local wildlife. If you fancy a little more nature-spotting, there are plenty of walking routes throughout the surrounding Blenheim Estate. The city of Oxford takes around twenty-five minutes to reach in the car, too.

This home is just as charming as the idyllic town in which it sits. The interior eschews minimalism for full-on floral patterns, characterful pieces of botanical artwork and vintage-inspired furnishings — can you honestly say you weren't happy to see that four-poster bed?

While the kitchen may be on the smaller side and lacks a hob, oven or cooking facilities, fortunately, there are plenty of restaurants in Woodstock, from a brasserie to less formal pubs. In addition, Blenheim Palace and its surrounding parkland can be entered in three mintues' walk from your front door. Further afield, the walking routes and viewpoints of the Cotswolds AONB can be reached easily in the car.

In a residential neighbourhood just outside of Oxford, this apartment offers a comfortable home-from-home with great connections to the centre. There’s parking here, so you can easily drive into the city, or hop on the bus just outside the apartment. The patio may not be the most inspired, though it’s a nice option for morning coffee. Similarly, the kitchen is a little dated, but it’s well-equipped for nights you feel like eating in. That said, you’ll find Headington's local pubs and cafes within walking distance.
