Stroll just seven minutes to visit the historic Roman baths and explore the high street boutiques, cafes and restaurants that surround it. There's no need to drive or even use public transport here, as most of the city is within reach of a convenient walk from your apartment.

Even before you enter, it’s clear that there’s something special about Faerie World. The high position of the cottage gives a heavenly view of the stream below, and you can hear the babbling water from the terrace, which is itself surrounded by flowers, and makes you feel like you’re in a fairytale. Once inside, the living room and bedroom don’t disappoint. The bedroom in particular, with its Farrow & Ball colours, stands out. The kitchen doesn’t have the same aesthetic charm, but that’s a small gripe, and shouldn't give you any cause for concern.

We loved the way High & Dry blends historic charm and modern comfort. Features like the exposed stone fireplace preserve the history of the home, while the well-thought-out decor brings it up to date. Each room has a slightly different colour scheme and a slightly different atmosphere. Being tucked away on a side street, it’s a quiet, tranquil spot, but it’s still central – so you can still easily explore Bath on foot. The generous kitchen and dining area and the various communal spaces make it a great fit for families.

Green Park Station around the corner hosts a Saturday morning farmers' market which is well worth a visit, and the must-see Roman Baths are just a quick seven-minute stroll away.

There's plenty of prep space for cooking, so pour yourself a glass of wine, put a vinyl on the record player and let your culinary skills run wild. Outside, the sunny terrace and manicured garden are perfect for unwinding on sunnier days. This meticulously furnished, bright flat in the heart of Bath is a treat for anyone who doesn't want to compromise on quality just to get a more central location. We fell in love with the open-plan living area, which features a gorgeous dining bar in the midst of gentle pastel hues and tastefully distressed dressers and end tables. Upon testing the sofas we found that they are wonderfully comfortable. The bedroom is no less impressive — it's quiet and bright, just like the rest of the flat. Overlooking Queen’s Park, you'll find many independent cafes, shops, and restaurants on your doorstep, and both Bath Abbey and the Roman Baths are within a five-minute walk. 

Baldwin's View

Hidden away in the countryside surrounding the city of Bath, this home can't be accused of not making the most of this bucolic location. In the main communal space, there are floor-to-ceiling windows running around the walls, which look out to views of Solsbury Hill and rolling fields. There's also a balcony accessed from this space, so you can enjoy the peaceful panorama with a breeze on your face. Back inside, the kitchen is large enough to allow for several guests to be involved in cooking up a storm at once and the electric blinds can create the perfect setting for a post-dinner movie. We recommend taking time to make the most of the West Country dining scene, as well as checking out museums, the nearby Theatre Royal, and the famous spa. After all that, you can return to take a rainfall shower, loll by the fire, and snooze in the comfy sleigh bed. No wonder the tourist board awarded this place a gold star. We'd give it one too.
