There's plenty of space for your whole group to come together and be sociable and an abundance of secluded corners for when you want to escape into the pages of a good book. With their gorgeous ornamental fireplaces, the sitting rooms are a real treat to return to after a cold country walk. At the same time, the sleek minimalism of the kitchen cuts a contemporary figure that contrasts beautifully with the informal farmhouse aesthetic of the dining table. Upstairs, three bedrooms offer tranquil retreats, a peaceful haven to start and end each day. A stay here is all about relaxation, so step outside and straight into the bubbling hot tub or pull up a seat for sundowners by the shepherd's hut. And when the weather's not playing ball, there's always the cinema snug where you can cosy up with a good film. Just a few miles away is the lovely town of Somerton. Home to an attractive market square, pretty stone houses and several independent shops and inviting restaurants lining wide, tree-lined streets. Much like the home, it effortlessly intertwines old and new to create something spectacular.

Inside, you’ll find warm, characterful interiors, multiple lounges to spread out in, and a generous dining space for long, laughter-filled meals. The country kitchen is a cook’s dream, while bedrooms spread across the main house and annexe offer privacy and comfort in equal measure. Come evening, head out to the garden for a soak in the hot tub, a movie on the outdoor TV, or just a glass of something sparkling under the stars. Whether you're here for a celebration or simply to reconnect, this home makes it easy to slow down and savour the moment.

Somerset Haven

This charming lodge is a perfect fit for a family on a Somerset stay. Inside, this contemporary home has everything needed for a comfortable getaway – but the outdoor space is the cherry on the cake for us. With a private garden, alfresco dining opportunities and a hot tub, what’s not to love? And did we mention the countryside views over the Somerset levels and Glastonbury Tor? Peek past the owner’s animals – alpacas and miniature horses – and you can’t miss them. Locally, there’s fun for all the family with Puxton Adventure Park, Longleat Safari Park, and Cheddar Gorge, to name just a few of the must-visit attractions. 

Somerset Serenity

Tucked away on a working farm in the Somerset countryside, this converted stable is all charm and comfort. Step inside to find rustic touches warmed by underfloor heating and a crackling woodburner, with a sociable kitchen-diner and a cosy lounge made for slow mornings and restful evenings. Two king-size bedrooms offer peaceful retreats, one with a sleek en-suite, while the garden patio is perfect for morning coffee or sundowners after a day out. From Cheddar Gorge to Brean Beach, Somerset’s natural wonders are within easy reach. Though you may find the biggest joy is simply staying put.

Somerset Cider

Even before you enter, it’s clear that there’s something special about Faerie World. The high position of the cottage gives a heavenly view of the stream below, and you can hear the babbling water from the terrace, which is itself surrounded by flowers, and makes you feel like you’re in a fairytale. Once inside, the living room and bedroom don’t disappoint. The bedroom in particular, with its Farrow & Ball colours, stands out. The kitchen doesn’t have the same aesthetic charm, but that’s a small gripe, and shouldn't give you any cause for concern.

Faerie World

Cosy countryside cottages don’t get much better than this. Tucked away in the Somerset countryside, this home is an absolute delight. It’s been recently renovated with wood floors and floor-to-ceiling windows, and it boasts a charming blend of contemporary and antique furniture. If you like the idea of escaping the city for a charm-filled cottage, but could do without dusty beams and draughty doors, this is the right home for you. 

The cottage is warm and welcoming, the perfect setting for a romantic escape. Curl up on the sofa and admire the lush garden as you sip Champagne. When the weather is fine, open up the glass doors to create a stunning indoor/outdoor space. Whip up meals in the kitchen to enjoy outside in the garden, or fire up the barbecue for a real alfresco treat – you might like to walk to the nearby farm shop for local goodies to cook. Soak up the sunshine outside and enjoy the countryside views. In the evening, get cosy around the fire pit before sinking into the oh-so-comfortable bed upstairs. 

You could happily spend your days here, playing board games, reading, and admiring the garden, but if you do want to explore further afield, you have plenty of choice. The East Mendip Way passes right by the cottage, so bring your hiking boots if you want to get a bit closer to the Great Outdoors. It takes thirty-two minutes to drive to Bath, where you can admire the Roman Baths and explore the galleries, museums and theatres – not to mention the excellent array of eateries. Or perhaps you’ll just pootle around the countryside, popping into charming villages – Mells and Bruton are close by – and country pubs whenever the fancy strikes? Soho House members will enjoy its proximity to Babington House. However you spend your time here, you’ll love having such a delightful place to call home.


Miss Honey's Cottage

This charming thatched cottage is perfect for a family or group of friends looking to explore the Jurassic Coast. It is located in the heart of the village of West Lulworth, just a short walk from the beach and the famous Lulworth Cove. The cottage has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, and a cosy living room with a gas fire. Outside, there is a terraced patio with a picnic table, perfect for enjoying the fresh air and stunning views.

The Thatched Cottage

Make yourself a cup of tea and take it outside to your private riverside terrace, where the sound of the water cascading along the rocky riverbed and the many birds that visit it is all you need to feel content. Part of a small complex of cottages, around a central courtyard, it's set in an estate boasting more than a hundred acres of land – including hillside meadows, woodland and streams. 

The building you'll be calling home was once part of the home farm for the impressive Plas Cilybebyll Estate and was most likely stables and grooms' quarters – although some of its stone features hark back to the estate's noble history. Dive into its fascinating past and you'll spot links to the descendants of the ancient Welsh kings, the Norman invasion, Iolo Morgannwg and more. You'll even find an arrow slit in the lounge and another in the ground floor wet room wall.

Cleverly converted and architect designed, this home uses green energy and is insulated with sheep's wool. It's a surprisingly modern and comfortable home for a small family or a couple of friends here to make the most of its idyllic rural setting. By day, explore the farm thanks to a trail that starts at your door, visiting cattle and spotting wildlife as you go. If you're a keen cyclist, you're within striking distance of the Afan Forest and Bike Park Wales, with safe storage for your equipment.

Just an eight-minute drive from the town of Pontardawe and less than half an hour from Swansea, you'll feel as though this fairytale setting is tucked well away from the rest of the world.

Riverside Keep

Bursting with character, this Stogursey cottage is as cosy as it looks. On winter days, snuggle up in front of the log burner, while summer evenings call for sundowners in the quaint garden. Of course, with the traditional charm comes a few eccentricities, mainly the twisting staircase and low beamed ceilings. Scenic walking trails through the Quantock Hills are practically on your doorstep – perfect for strolls with the pups in tow. Further afield, Taunton and Glastonbury are within easy driving distance, offering fun for the whole family.

Rural Rendezvous

Covered in vibrant green ivy, this quaint cottage in Somerset benefits from the expansive grounds it shares with a breathtaking manor house. Wander out for a walk around the pond and past the horses until you find the perfect spot for a rest. Bask in the tranquillity as you get your nose in a Jane Austen novel and pour yourself tea from a thermos. The cottage itself also overlooks the Victorian stable yard, which adds even more grandeur to the view, so don’t be too surprised if you find yourself daydreaming. 

When you’re not out exploring hiking up the Tor at Glastonbury, or driving out towards Devon or Cornwall, you can stay in, curling up on the sofa with a freshly-brewed coffee after polishing off a hearty breakfast at the little dining counter right by the window. With the warmth of the exposed beams and cosy furnishings, this space is perfectly set up for lounging around, but if the weather permits, we recommend a picnic on the grass right outside. 

Break out the board games after supper, or watch a family movie together. Or, on warmer evenings, you can simply stay outside, drinking in the peaceful surroundings, and great company, under the stars.


The Stablemaster's Cottage

Avon Stream juxtaposes the old and the new oh so perfectly. From a Georgian façade and original fireplaces to modern furnishings and contemporary finishes – the home offers a contrast with elegance and style throughout. A lot of care has also been put into the quality of the furniture – we deem the mattresses to be a particular highlight. We also. love that the entire basement floor of this home is underfloor heated – blissful in the winter months when you can kick off your shoes and just unwind. Add into the mix, gig sash windows, high ceilings, and the central (yet surprisingly peaceful) location – and you've got yourself a pristine base from which to explore the picturesque city of Bath. Stroll just seven minutes to visit the historic Roman baths and explore the high street boutiques, cafes and restaurants that surround it. There's no need to drive or even use public transport here, as most of the city is within reach of a convenient walk from your apartment. 

Avon Stream

From the moment you see the grand stone exterior and cobbled courtyard, you’ll know that this ever-so-charming home is steeped in history. It's a former malthouse that’s over 300 years old and filled with traditional features. When you step into the entrance hall, you’re entering through the large oak door onto the original cart-way, and as you start trying to choose which bedroom you want to lay claim to, you’ll be winding your way up a turret stairway with rope bannisters, surrounded by wooden beams and original fireplaces. The interior has been fully renovated, with a modern handmade kitchen, squishy sofas, and cute-as-a-button bedrooms. Sip your afternoon tea perched on the sunny window seat with a good book in hand (there's an extensive collection to choose from), while gazing at the expansive green views of the playing fields and village church in the backdrop. Elsewhere, the large 14-seater pine dining table will be the perfect spot to savour a slow dinner with the entire group. Although in the garden you'll notice a patio, complete with outdoor furniture, that’s ideal for wine and cheese nights – there's a large lawn and a range of outdoor games available too (including table tennis) for hours of early evening fun. You don’t have to go far to continue the historical theme, as the pub next door is one of the oldest in the country and has been the resting place for many a monarch visiting the area since the 15th century. The surrounding county town, Frome, just a fifteen-minute drive away, was voted one of the best places to live in the UK - explore the rich history, shop at independent boutiques, buy fresh produce at the local market or dine at one of the many eateries dotted around nearby.
