Positioned on the edge of a historic, seventeenth-century farm, just a short way from Lambert’s Castle and five miles from Lyme Regis and Charmouth on the Jurassic coast, the area promises exciting day trips and outstanding natural beauty. Whether you’re after rural rambles or swimming in the sea, there's something to pique your interest. Inside, underfloor heating means you'll be toasty warm no matter the weather, while floor-to-ceiling windows ensure guests enjoy a splendid view from every corner of the home. Food is important to your chef host, so despite the compact size of the kitchen it contains everything you could need. We'd definitely recommend sampling charcuterie made from his rare breed pigs and you'll be supplied with farm fresh eggs on arrival. The comfortable bed is perfectly positioned to catch a glimpse of the stars through remote-controlled skylight

Meadow View

In a sunlit corner of a Somerset country estate and surrounded by 1,000 acres of parkland, this lodge offers a tranquil escape. Cathedral-style windows frame far-reaching views across rolling countryside, best admired from the private terrace with a glass in hand. Inside, the open-plan living space is designed for easy comfort, with vaulted ceilings, and a flickering woodburner. Wander the estate’s walking trails, book a private swim session in the indoor pool, or unwind in the neighbouring adults-only spa. Close to Lyme Regis, Forde Abbey and the Jurassic Coast, it’s a springboard for scenic days out, and a restful home to come back to.

Morninglight Lookout

Set within a walled garden overlooking the village of West Chinnock, this traditional cottage opens its doors to a stylish stay in Somerset. And much like its location, there’s a calming presence to this home that makes you want to settle in and stay. 

Inside, the space has been designed to feel like a sanctuary – a place where you can slow down and enjoy life’s little wonders. Like gathering around the table and sharing a beautiful meal, or sitting by the log burner with a book. Wherever you are in this home, there’s a sense of warmth and intimacy. 

Friends and families will love this home – it’s the perfect setting for a restorative retreat as well as a countryside adventure. Outside, you can walk through the village and onto one of the many hiking trails in this area. And for a day at the sea, the Jurassic Coast is only a forty–minute drive away. There are some great pubs and restaurants in this area, including Holm, ten minutes away in South Petherton, a contemporary restaurant driven by its Somerset surroundings, as well as Osip, a charming farm-to-table restaurant just thirty-five minutes away in Bruton. All that said, we won’t be surprised if this beautiful home becomes your favourite place to dine. 

The Honey Bee

This exquisitely renovated bakehouse provides a sweet escape amidst the glorious rolling hills and wooded valleys of East Devon. It sits in the lovely village of Musbury, within walking distance of the local shop and pub and just a twelve-minute drive from Lyme Regis and its spectacular Jurassic coastline. 

The interior strikes the perfect balance between contemporary comfort and authentic charm. Look closely, and you'll spot ample inklings of this home's storied past, from the beam-clad ceilings to the Juliet balcony, where flour bags were once hauled from the loft below. On the first floor, the open-plan living area is blessed by heaps of natural light, offering a free-flowing canvas of calm with lofty vaulted ceilings, hardwood floors and partially exposed stone walls. Plush sofas huddle around the wood-burning fireplace – a lovely space for chilly evenings – while the fully-equipped kitchen and diner offer direct access to the garden. Enclosed for privacy and boasting a lush lawn, the outdoor space beckons you to unwind in the fresh air. Let the dog roam free here and, after long walks through the countryside, fire up the barbecue and gather on the pretty terrace for a delicious alfresco feast.

The Old Bakery

Treacle Sponge is part of a Grade II-listed farm of the Dillington Estate in the tiny hamlet of Atherstone. This quiet and rural location makes for a great country escape for a small family or two couples looking to immerse themselves in the glorious Somerset landscape. Undeniably tasteful and boasting a rustic-chic look, this home may be quaint in aesthetic but it delivers some modern comforts that we love, including sleek bathrooms and sumptuous beds that will leave you well rested. Your hosts have also gone the extra mile in providing a welcome hamper, which includes some essentials, cakes, and local produce. You’ll need the energy for those long country walks or cycles, although knowing you'll come back to such a cosy home, you'll be motivated to walk that extra mile. For a memorable day trip out, head to the Jurassic Coast for fossil hunting and fish and chips on the beach.

Treacle Sponge

Set on a quiet country lane, this 17th century, Grade II-listed farmhouse makes a wonderful holiday retreat in the heart of rural Somerset. Traditional features of the home have been partnered with luxurious interior furnishings, that maintain a high quality and provide excellent comfort for a snug stay in the countryside. We particularly love the stained glass window in the living room which serves as the gateway from the rustic lounge area, out to the stunning garden at the back. Original stone floorings, low ceilings and exposed wooden beams add oodles of character and personality to the home, while the wood-fired hot tub and living room stove bring the family together and provide a warming atmosphere. The house is surrounded by farmland but the nearby town provides local produce and delicious meals out. The landscape is sublime for country walks and adventures out to discover the local historical sights. If cycling is your thing, there's no better way to explore the myriad of local country lanes and villages than by bicycle. Stop off at Dennis China Works (a fifteen-minute ride away) for a pit stop in the tea rooms or why not visit one of the local cider producers' orchards and presses to see how it's made? Perry’s Cider in Dowlish Wake, for example, is only fifteen minutes away by bicycle or a six-minute drive away in the car.

The Duck Feather

This charming cottage is perfect for a rural retreat. It’s on the lower slopes of the Blackdown Hills, close to the Somerset town of Wellington, and within easy reach of the Quantock Hills – it’s a great spot for hiking, with countryside walks from the front door. The picture-perfect thatched cottage is Grade II listed, so you can look forward to plenty of period features, including beamed ceilings. Outside, you’ll have a pretty garden to chill out in, with a hot tub and outdoor furniture. It's worth pointing out that the owner's accommodation is upstairs. 

Garden's View

This cosy cottage puts treks through the Somerset countryside on your doorstep. Ham Hill Country Park is within easy reach, a pub is just down the street – perfect for a post-walk pint – and Glastonbury is driveable in thirty minutes if you fancy a day out. We love how flexible the setup is back home. The second bedroom has zip-and-link beds and pull-out single to suit families. There's also a private patio where you can enjoy a tipple or two in the evening sun.

Summertime in Somerset

Located in the seaside town of Lyme Regis, this apartment was once part of the old Station Hotel. Ideal for a family or friends looking to explore this picturesque part of England, there's so much to see and do around here. Spend your days with your toes in the sand, tucking into fish and chips, or enjoying a game of golf at the nearby course. By night, sit out under the stars in the enclosed courtyard or stroll into town for a pint in the local pub. Whatever your holiday calls for, this handy homestay delivers.

Jurassic Coast Jewel

Nestled in the idyllic village of Stoke Abbott, this cottage offers a cosy escape in Dorset. It's a sweet blend of old and new, with a wood-burning fireplace ideal for winter nights and steep traditional stairs. The kitchen oozes country chic and has all the bits and bobs you need, though the pub next door is rather tempting. Outside, the enclosed garden makes the perfect pet-friendly spot to enjoy a tipple in the sunshine. When you're ready to set off and explore, you'll find Bridport (6 miles away), West Bay (a twenty-minute drive) and Lyme Regis (thirty minutes by car) all within easy reach.

The Woodman's Cottage

We love this fairytale Grade II-listed pink cottage, draped in wisteria and capped by thatch – it doesn't get more idyllic than this. Enjoy the complimentary bread, biscuits, cake, and lovely local produce and have an afternoon tea on your arrival. The cottage benefits from having an open-plan kitchen-diner that's ideal for aspiring Robuchons to entertain their loved ones with lavish meals. The cosy living room with a wood-burning stove is perfect for part of the group to retire to after dinner, while the other half can head outside for a stargazing session from the hot tub. The delightful garden makes a great setting for a picnic on warmer days (catering is available) or just walk to the pub (thirty minutes) for a hearty Sunday roast. Of course, there are some wonderful walks and cycle rides to discover right from your doorstep and bikes can be rented and delivered to the cottage in advance. For a range of boutiques, restaurants and cafes –  head to Ilminster, a three-minute drive or explore Dillington Park, a seven-minute walk away. If you fancy exploring further afield – Charmouth Beach is just over a thirty-minute drive – that's if you can tear yourself away from this rural paradise.

Strawberry Choux Bun

Set in the rolling Somerset countryside outside Ilminster (a three-minute drive), this home epitomises the phrase “sitting pretty”. A honey-hued facade is covered with roses, like a storybook cottage. Though grand bedrooms with sleigh beds and lots of space are more manor house than country cottage. Downstairs, the cosy sitting room is set around a wood-burning in the old hearth and there’s a second family snug with bean bags and a squashy sofa, ideal for film nights. The kitchen is a vision of modernity with its big breakfast island to accommodate the bustle of family mealtimes and dining takes place in the conservatory area overlooking the sprawling grounds. Stepping outside you’ll find a sweeping, manicured lawn and wooden climbing frame for the kids to run free, and patio dining for the whole group courtesy of a charcoal barbecue should the weather allow. Our favourite part? The wood-fired hot tub hidden between the trees and looking out over the fields and woodland.
