We're pretty sure that you won't find many cottages cuter than this. Built at the backend of the eighteenth century, this traditional weaver's house is Grade-II listed and you can see why. Inside, the wooden ceiling beams, exposed brickwork and stable door are full of rustic charm, while a log-burning fire and antique furnishings add an extra level of cosiness. To the side of the home, there's a patio area complete with alfresco seating where you can enjoy a coffee and the surrounding tranquillity of West Yorkshire. Fans of Last of the Summer Wine — one of the longest-running sitcoms in the world — will love walking around the local town of Holmfirth where it was filmed. The Peak District is only a ten-minute drive away too if you're in the mood for a long ramble.

Summer Wine

Built in 1809 and renovated in 2020, grade II-listed King Of The Vale brings together old and new for a wonderful experience in the Peak District. The striking Georgian cottage features beamed ceilings, traditional shutters, sash windows, wood-burning stoves and an impressive garden, all while providing guests with twenty-first-century comforts and design. Prepare wonderful meals in the fully equipped kitchen, then enjoy your creations al fresco or in the modern dining room. With four bedrooms, up to eight guests are welcome to enjoy the home's cosy interiors and excellent position in the charming village of Rowsley. From here, it's easy to visit all corners of the famous Peak District.

King Of The Vale

In the heart of the breathtaking Holme Valley, surrounded by unspoiled landscapes, traditional towns and quiet villages, this stylish home provides a tranquil retreat in West Yorkshire. Boasting a private terrace overlooking the River Holme, you can spend picture-perfect mornings drinking coffee as the water travels past. 

You'll be based in Thongsbridge, which is home to an array of independent shops, antique treasures, and markets, plus the unique Art Market which features 100 exhibiting artists and designers. It's a popular spot among walkers and wildlife lovers, too, meaning you're never short of things to see and do here. Spend your days discovering the region's best natural beauty spots, or shopping for one-of-a-kind finds to take home to friends, before heading back home to relax for the evening. 

Accomplished cooks will no doubt appreciate the glossy kitchen, where you can whip up tasty meals for the whole family. Take your food outside to dine alfresco – the sight of the sun setting over the river banks is quite a sight to behold. Take it all in whilst sipping a glass of wine.

You'll be in good company with a stay at this charming cottage fringing Matlock and set within nine acres of English country gardens – the mighty Chatsworth House is just three miles from your door along the River Derwent.

Inside, original beams, stone flanked windows, a crackling fireplace, and an immaculate shaker-style kitchen fill this period home with character and charm. While upstairs, bedrooms boast stunning views of the gardens and rolling hills beyond. But it's that shared indoor swimming pool that's the real clincher here – you didn't expect that from a sleepy village cottage, did you?

Sunny mornings call for lazy breakfasts in the pretty gardens as you drink up the far-reaching views across the valley towards Bakewell and Haddon Hall. Then break up the morning with a splash about the indoor pool. Shared with just one other cottage, you'll have the place to yourself for two hours at a time, twice a day.

When it's time to get out exploring the Derbyshire Dales, get off to a flying start in the nearby charming village of Rowsley (a five-minute drive) with its traditional pubs for real ales and a warm welcome. And, of course, there's always the stately Chatsworth House (a thirteen-minute drive or two-hour amble along the river) for a turn about the grounds.

Blooming Rose

Positively brimming with colourful furnishings, eclectic decor and stylish wallpaper, this funky pad is perfect for the discerning Sheffield settler. Located in the hip-and-happening Kelham Island – a former industrial hub turned trendy hotspot full of quirky bars, traditional pubs and pop-up stalls, it's one for foodies and ale-lovers alike. And for those in need of a culture fix, the Kelham Island Museum, explaining the history of the city's steel industry, is at the centre of the island itself. Back in your cosy digs, the character of this modern home shines out from the moment you enter, with its vibrant pops of colour, chic furniture and curated greenery. For those keeping one eye on work during their stay, there's a dedicated office space by the window to get your head down, while those after a lazy coffee morning will find a cosy spot in the master bedroom to enjoy a good book. While the brightly styled living spaces make for a homely spot to relax, the real highlight of this home is the outside space. Sip your alfresco wine on a fully decked out balcony, overlooking the stillness of the River Don – what better way to bookmark the day. 

Mandarin Orange

After looking around this home, you probably wouldn't guess that the property has been standing for more than a quarter of a millennium, but that's a testament to the care and attention that has gone into the renovation.

Aside from the odd exposed stone wall and the original fireplace, the interior is as contemporary as they come, but great importance is placed on cosiness, too. Underfloor heating and a wood-burner will get you warmed up once again after bracing country walks, while the huge kitchen has plenty of space for whipping up hearty feasts. If the weather's playing ball, you can even eat outside, which will give you an opportunity to admire the bucolic scenery.

As well as this private patio and barbecue, there's a shared fire pit on the grounds around which to gather once darkness falls. Guests also get access to a shared games room, which has tables for ping-pong and pool, board games and toys, as well as a small shop selling meat from the surrounding farm and locally produced artisanal products.

Sitting deep within the Peak District, you're certainly not short of walking routes in the local area, plus a couple of historic attractions — Magpie Mine is only a ten-minute walk, for instance. And what would a rural getaway be without a charming pub? You'll probably be happy to hear that the closest one is only eight minutes away on foot.


Gazing & Grazing

Located on a farm in the heart of the Peak District, this home puts you on the doorstep of some of the UK’s most beautiful vistas. Drive twenty minutes to hike Robin Hood’s Cave and make an even shorter trip to Froggatt Edge, Padley Gorge, and many other scenic points. 

There is nothing quite like getting back in touch with nature to restore a sense of peace and even if hiking isn’t your idea of fun, you can still establish that connection just by sitting down outside. We recommend watching at least one sunrise from the garden chair as you nurse your first coffee of the day. 

Back inside the kitchen’s generous size lends itself to experiments and collaborative meals – flip pancakes and set up a topping station where everyone can get as creative as they’d like. 

Walk the grounds – you might even run into resident black lab, Digby, along the way – and have an impromptu kickabout with a football. Set the timer on your phone's camera and pose for a group photo with nothing but green expanse as a background. 

At night, when you’ve returned from a quintessentially British visit to the local pub, you can kindle the woodburner and sit back for cosy conversation before a soak in the tub and a peaceful night’s sleep in one of the comfortable bedrooms. 

Dairy of Olde

If you fancy yourself as lord or lady of the manor, then you can live out your dreams for a few days at this Grade II listed Georgian home. The majestic house is set in two and a half acres of private grounds, bursting with flower gardens, apple trees and green lawns that are perfect for picnicking. Pay a visit to the local farm shop to stock up on fresh produce, and cook a delicious meal on the AGA to share alfresco on the terrace as you admire the views of the rolling countryside. After dark, you might decide to stay outside and huddle around the fire pit, or retreat to one of the cosy living rooms to play board games or watch a movie. The Yorkshire Moors are right on your doorstep, ideal for long, muddy walks through the windswept landscapes that inspired the Brontë sisters, and it's just a short drive to visit the Pennines, where you can hike through an official Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. 


Wuthering Heights

Grab yourself a slice of good old-fashioned Derbyshire charm at this cute-as-a-button hideaway for two and one furry friend, set in the traditional market town of Bakewell. With boutique shops, bustling restaurants, and traditional bakeries dishing up irresistible Bakewell puddings to refuel after bracing walks (the Monsal Trail is just five minutes from your door), its location is spot on. 

Back home, this newly refurbished cottage housed in a Grade-II Listed 17th-century building is a home for all seasons. Cosy up on the velvet chesterfield sofa in the winter months with the papers and endless rounds of tea. And in warmer spells, potter outside onto the charming patio for drinks and nibbles. And the cherry on top? The lofted, serene bedroom upstairs with a king-sized bed that's got lie-ins written all over it.
