If you want to feel the sea breeze in your hair then this home in Torquay – right on the English Riviera – is the one for you. It's situated just steps away from the harbour, so you don't have to go far to watch the boats bobbing in the water and hear the chatter of seagulls in the sky. Inside, you'll find a cosy space where you can kick back and relax between adventures, and we love the nautical blue and grey colour palette. The private balcony is the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee as you make plans for the day – perhaps you'll discover the town's unique charms, with its Victorian pier and Ferris wheel. Or, take a drive along the coast to discover hidden beaches, beautiful walking trails and cosy country pubs to warm up in after your adventures. 

Devon Dreams

Overlooking the bright and colourful harbour of Brixham, this Victorian home has been transformed into an idyllic seaside sanctuary. 

With a fresh, neutral colour palette and contemporary aesthetic, the owners have captured the rejuvenating spirit of this unique location. And with three floors dedicated to bringing luxurious ease to your stay, there’s everything you could need to settle in and feel at home. 

From the mesmerising views across the sea to the cosy and comfortable furnishings, this is a wonderful place to relax and savour life’s simple pleasures. So whether you’re sipping your morning coffee on the top floor balcony, enjoying family fun in the games room or gathering around the cosy dining table, it’s easy to feel captivated by the charm of this home. 

Outside, it’s just a short atmospheric stroll down the hill towards the lively harbour. With a great selection of pubs, shops, bars and cafes as well as renowned fish and chips – this is the perfect spot to soak up the beauty of Devon’s south coast.

Rainbow View

We think this cute home on the south Devon coastline has the rustic cosiness of a beach hut, but with all the modern finesse demanded by today's holidaymakers. Inside, original wood flooring and the brick fireplace housing a wood-burner are particularly handsome features, but the real star of the show is the view of Brixham Harbour from the large windows in both the living room and bedrooms — pack your binoculars and you can watch fishing boats coming in and out of the bay. Around the other side of the home, there's a stone-walled back garden complete with a patio, alfresco seating area and a barbecue. We can totally understand if you're not in the mood to cook at any point and the nearby town of Brixham — only ten minutes or so away on foot — has plenty of seafood restaurants, as well as fish and chips shops and cosy pubs. In the other direction, Fishcombe Cove and Battery Gardens can be reached in the same amount of time, too.

First Light

This restored barn makes the perfect setting for a refreshing rural escape. Surrounded by the beautiful Devon countryside, you’ll find easy access to walking trails as well as the picturesque village of Dittisham – just a mile away. And while days can be spent exploring, by night you’ll love returning home to relax by the wood-burning fire. Pets are welcome to join you during your stay, plus there is a large private garden with outdoor seating – perfect for summer evening drinks. 

Trinity Barn

Dramatic views and stylish interiors are the names of the game at this home overlooking the coastline between Paignton and Brixham. A big, bright family home with a rear garden that drops away, it offers up staggering vistas, with big windows and a huge terrace built to make the most of it. Period touches like parquet floors, fireplaces and bay windows nod back to the 1930s, while luxurious, modern furnishings bring everything right up to date.

Perfect for families, there's a great deal of space to spread out in, with an open layout to the fully equipped kitchen and dining space – with one of the best views in the house. Elsewhere, a cosy living room boasts velvet sofas, a log burner and sliding doors to the terrace, while a second sitting room doubles as an extra bedroom, with a wheelchair-accessible ground-floor bedroom off it.

Upstairs, the main bedroom is a lesson in elegant styling, and we love not only its far-reaching views across the hills but also its stunning en-suite – the freestanding tub is such a treat. And we'd have been quite content if it stopped there, but this home also comes with a slight surprise – underneath the rear terrace, you'll find a bonus room used as a gym, with a treadmill, bike machine and weights.

Enjoy all your meals on the sunny terrace during the summer months, gaze out across the sea and even watch the steam trains go about their business at the local heritage railway. It's just a walk or a short drive to Broadsands Beach, and you can choose between heading out for a day at Paignton Zoo, visiting Brixham Harbour or even grabbing your clubs for a game of golf nearby – it's all within easy striking distance.



In Perspective

With stunning sea views and an enviable location in the attractive hamlet of St Marychurch, this holiday home has everything going for it. Just a nine-minute drive from Torquay, and mere minutes from the beach, this beautiful home is a wonderful base from which to explore this part of Devon. 

You might want to start your day on the balcony, sipping coffee and admiring the sweeping views of the sea. After a hearty breakfast in the sun-drenched dining room – the perfect setting for celebrations – head off with your bucket and spade. Oddicombe and Babbacombe beaches are five and six minutes away by car, so you’ve plenty of choice. Rent kayaks or paddleboards to admire the coast from a new perspective, or settle down on the beach with fish and chips. 

Keen hikers will be pleased to learn that the house has direct access to the South West Coast Path. There’s a whole host of walks so you’re sure to find something to suit the group, with glorious views of the English Riviera ready to be devoured. If you’re more of an ambler than a rambler, you might prefer to pop into Torquay instead. Settle into a cosy corner of a cafe with a cream tea before exploring the shops.

Back at the house, you can look forward to making happy holiday memories. The outside space is wonderful, with garden games and a trampoline, as well as a fire pit to sit around when the sun starts to set. Head inside after dark and set up in the cinema room for a family screening. 


The Toast of The Coast

Right on the promenade in Paignton, this apartment makes for a great seaside break. The South West Coastal Path runs right outside the door, so hikers can enjoy a day of clifftop walks in either direction. Following the bay, you can reach Torquay in just ten minutes by car. But there’s plenty to keep you occupied in Paignton itself, like the long sweep of beach, Victorian pier with old-style arcades and cafes, pubs and fish and chip shops galore.

The nautical decor inside is a reminder of how close you are to the sea – anchors on the wall, paintings of beach huts and a palette of soft blues and whites. The stylish grey kitchen has all the essentials for self-catering, and the breakfast table sits in a sunny spot by the window, overlooking the rooftops of Paignton. The bedroom, with its king-size bed, is a soothing place to lay your head. 

Along the Prom Prom Prom

This stunning, second-floor, sea view home is an absolute Devonshire delight. Set right on Paignton’s seafront, this terrific Tor Bay home boasts an open plan kitchen, dining and living room – all whitewashed walls, grey panelling and stylish soft furnishings. Featuring a picture window and seating, the master bedroom is a serene sanctuary with wonderful sea views, where lazy morning lie ins are the order of the day, and breakfasts in bed, a must.

The perfect south coast couple’s retreat, you’ll love preparing your other half’s favourite foods in the sleek, well-equipped kitchen and dining while admiring awesome Atlantic Ocean views. Kick back, relax and unwind on the sofa in the living room before indulging in a rain shower before bed.

A stone’s throw from Paignton’s seafront, harbour and town, you’ll find yourself perfectly placed to explore all that this brightest of jewels in the English Riviera’s crown has to offer – pick up an ice cream, gorge on fish and chips, wander along the promenade or peruse the pier. Whatever you do, you won’t regret falling in love with this seaside gem. 


She Sells Sea Shells On The Seashore

Upon the English Riviera, staying in the warm climate of the sophisticated town of Torquay feels like the equivalent of Cannes. Hop off a yacht at Torquay Marina and take an eighteen-minute stroll to this fabulous apartment, fit for any VIP. Upon arrival, your host will have a bottle of wine waiting for you. Before you even start exploring this modern flat, pour yourself a glass and say cheers to the start of the holiday. Do you like a home with a view? Because this one offers several. From its many large windows, you can spot the bay, beaches, harbours, the marina, and of course the big blue sea itself. On a sunny day, we recommend taking a bowl of olives and a chilled prosecco out to the private balcony – pop up the parasol if it gets too hot. Indoors, pristine white and cream interiors make the space feel fresh, with a mint-green sofa which you can sink into after a long day of beachside activities. South Devon might feel distinctly Mediterranean, but you’ll certainly enjoy ending the day with a refreshing cup of Earl Grey.

Pollock Palms

With its sumptuous interiors and privileged position in the heart of Dartmouth, this home is a great base for exploring one of South Devon’s most enchanting towns and its surrounding countryside. Inside, a cosy seating area unfolds into a modern kitchen – we loved the glass ceiling and creamy neutral colour scheme. Head upstairs for quiet bedrooms which guarantee a peaceful night's sleep.

On warm afternoons, spill out onto the terrace for barbecues in the balmy sunshine. Or why not pack a picnic and enjoy a bite to eat in Coronation Park, a five-minute walk away. If you’d like to learn more about the local history, visit the Dartmouth Museum before exploring Bayard’s Cove Fort. 

And of course, no trip to southwest England would be complete without a day at the beach, so slap on your sun cream and make haste to the Blue Flag Award-winning Blackpool Sands, just a ten-minute drive from your doorstep.

Stickleback House

This apartment's showstopping feature is its idyllic view of Paignton harbour, complete with boats bobbing about in the sea and the town of Torquay visible in the distance. This postcard-perfect panorama can be enjoyed from the bay window in the living room or out on the home's large, private terrace, which also has seating for an alfresco supper. Though naturally overshadowed by what's happening outside, this home's interior is well worth closer inspection, too. The stark white walls reflect the copious amounts of natural light nicely and the tiled kitchen is welcomingly sleek, too. The two bathrooms have a bath and a shower, and although it may only be a small thing, we certainly appreciate having the choice. When you're ready for a day out, there's plenty going on in the immediate locale. The red sand of Fairy Cove is just two minutes' walk away, although there's a wealth of other nearby beaches to choose from, too. The park at Roundham Head is a lovely spot for coastal views and can be reached in under ten minutes on foot.
