Charming Norton Hideaway

Just a mile from the beautiful sandy and shingle shores of Marske Beach, this newly built holiday home is perfectly positioned to explore this picturesque stretch of the North Sea coast.

The majority of the individually decorated rooms include an eye-catching feature wall, adding a splash of colour and a playful atmosphere to the home, while the enclosed garden is perfect for outdoor dinners and playtime with four-legged friends and energetic children. 

You'll hear the occasional cheer from the terraces of the nearby football club. Still, its family-friendly atmosphere on match days makes it an ideal candidate for a first football match, with little worry about the outlay when your children inevitably grow bored around fifteen minutes in. 

After catching a snippet of the game, enjoy an afternoon stroll southwards along the dramatic coast towards the historic seaside spa town of Saltburn-by-the-Sea with its iconic cast iron pier stretching 208 metres out to sea and its Grade II-listed cliff lift.

Beneath the Marske

Slow down and start living the country life at this newly-built cottage set deep in rural North Yorkshire on a private gated estate. Surrounded by green paddocks and grazing horses, its setting is postcard-perfect, and things only get better inside. Elegantly styled into a luxurious hideaway, contemporary artwork and statement lighting bring a flare of modernity, while supped-up bathrooms and a bubbly hot tub outside dial up the wow factor.

In summer months, slide back the bi-fold doors and pad out across the Indian sandstone terrace outside to drink up the morning's rays over coffees or enjoy a glass of something bubbly as the sun goes down. The outdoor Sonos speaker will bring the ambience. Meanwhile, winter days are all about cosying up indoors with endless rounds of tea as you soak up the panoramic vistas from the sofa.

With endless green views stretching to the Cleveland Hills, you could feel a million miles from anywhere. But when it’s time to dip your toes into country life, the bucolic towns of Yarm (a four-mile drive) and Darlington (a ten-mile drive) are within easy reach. And even closer, the peaceful village of Aislaby. Or, for a dose of coastal air, Saltburn-by-the-sea (a short drive away) will deliver all the seaside nostalgia you’re chasing.

Country Diaries

This elegant cottage in the ancient town of Pickering had us on the private outdoor terrace alone. But step inside, and this home keeps on surprising. 

We'd call it a love nest for two, but it's just too big for that. Crash out in the snuggly living room, with rattan accents and statement lighting, bringing a dash of modernity. Rustle up a meal in the made-for-action gallery kitchen. Then settle down for a tête-à-tête and evening meal in the separate dining room, with french doors leading out onto that terrace. 
When legs are weary after days exploring the Yorkshire Dales, sink into the enormous freestanding bath, and upstairs, a luxurious bedroom awaits to bank a peaceful night's sleep. 

Just outside this home, wander-worthy cobbled streets lead down to a medieval castle and the town's very own steam railway station to transport you back in time (both less than five minutes on foot). 

There's plenty to do in the lands beyond, too, if you'd rather up the ante. The North York Moors national park is just a three-minute drive away (forty minutes on foot). 

And when thoughts turn to food, there are some delightful pubs just moments away. And a charming tearoom for your fix of Yorkshire Fat Rascals is dangerously close - it's just below your door.

Pat-a-Cake

It seems quite fitting that a home situated in the heart of the picturesque and historic County Durham should be equally charming – and this cottage nestled on the edge of the village of Hurworth fits the bill perfectly. Surrounded by lush woodlands and steps away from the river Tees, this is an ideal spot to base yourself if you wish to enjoy the tranquillity and natural beauty of this region. 

While the cottage retains its original character, the inside has been fully renovated and restored, offering all the modern comforts to make your stay a restful one. Step through the front door to be greeted by a bright and welcoming interior, with a cosy living room, perfect for lounging about and enjoying movie nights and evenings of wine and conversation by the fire.

Why not head to the village and enjoy lunch at one of the lovely pubs or drive over to nearby Darlington for a spot of shopping. Just minutes down the road you'll also find the Rockliffe Hall Golf Hotel & Spa resort, set on a 365-acre estate and boasting one of the UK’s largest spas, an 18-hole championship golf course and multiple restaurants including fine dining options.

Let's Walk By the River

The Victorian spa town of Saltburn-by-the-Sea makes for an excellent seaside escape. It’s a real coastal retreat, surrounded by charming seaside towns and villages – you can use Saltburn as your base for exploring the area. 

This charming apartment is ideal for romantic getaways, and equally well suited to solo stays by the sea. We love the traditional beams and cosy, homey vibe. You’ll feel at home the instant you arrive at this stylish abode. Best of all, the apartment boasts sea views. Wake up each morning to see the sea rushing ashore. Step out onto the balcony to sip your morning coffee, and breathe in the sea air. The blue-tiled kitchen is a lovely spot for your meals, whether you’ve whipped up a cooked breakfast or are unwrapping fish and chips for your evening meal. 

It’s just a short walk down to the beach, where you can build sandcastles, skim stones, or even try out the surf. Saltburn is also home to the UK’s oldest functioning cliff lift – enjoy the ride down to the promenade. Later on, stroll along the 208-metre-long pier with an ice cream – we do love to be beside the sea. 


Beach Blues

The Garden Glory  

Once you've wandered about this home nestled away in the North Yorkshire countryside for the first time, it probably won't come as a surprise to learn that it was once a hotel. The vast size of the building and its grounds partially give the game away, but there's also something about how the communal areas are arranged, especially the pool table and bar that make it an especially sociable space.

You'll also get a sense of the home's heritage pretty quickly as well. Located on a farm that dates back to the 18th century, there's a strong rustic charm throughout the interior, from the wooden ceiling beams and stone archways to the open fireplace that's wonderful to retire next to after a long bout in the great outdoors. 

Speaking of which, there's a whole host of amenities on the grounds for when the forecast is being kind to you. As well as a large lawn and lots of equipment for playing games, there's plenty of seating for alfresco feasts, as well as a hot tub that's an idyllic spot for a nightcap, especially once the stars are out in the sky.

In the local area, there's a wealth of attractions to be discovered, from the Victorian spa town of Saltburn-by-the-Sea just two-and-a-half miles away to the Cleveland Way National Trail, which can be reached on foot and rewards those that follow the path with views of the dramatic coastal landscape.

No Warmer Welcome

This wonderfully modern home is the perfect place to stay during a trip to the quirky town of Whitby. It's very centrally located, just a few minutes away from all the main attractions, so you're guaranteed to have some great times here. 

The interior is ultra contemporary, with plenty of natural light flooding in through the huge windows. Chic grey and cream tones melt together into a soothing colour palette that creates a tranquil ambiance throughout. You'll love the open-plan set-up, which makes it easy to chat with your guests as you cook, eat, and relax. And, the best bit is your very own balcony, offering views across to the boats floating in Whitby harbour. 

If you fancy a beach day, gather up your towels and take a fifteen-minute stroll down to the seashore. Fans of the classic Bram Stoker novel, Dracula, can climb the 199 steps up to visit the iconic Whitby Cathedral and St Mary's Church. And, with the North York Moors National Park just four minutes away by car, walkers and cyclists can easily explore the dramatic landscapes. 

Harbour Hopes

Sitting just across from Whitby beach on the scenic West Cliff, this beautifully bright apartment puts the sea on your doorstep and offers a wonderfully comfortable base to call home. 
 
Light pours into the open-plan living room from the stunning bay window giving way to sea views. Make yourself comfortable on the sofa and chairs with a warming mug of tea while you take in the dazzling vistas or gather around the chic dining table for a celebratory meal framed by the views.

When it comes to sightseeing, make your way to the beach (a two-minute walk) for afternoons of fun in the sun, or stroll over to the West Pier – six minutes away – where you can have a go at the arcades and sample the local seafood restaurants serving up the catch of the day. You’re also just a thirteen-minute walk from the 199 Steps that lead up to the Church of Saint Mary, while Whitby Abbey – the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula’ – is seventeen minutes away on foot.


Seaview Sparkle

Live in ‘Gentleman Jack’ luxury style in this five-storey Georgian townhouse located in the heart of Whitby that will truly make for a memorable stay on the North Yorkshire coast. On the other side of Whitby, you will find narrow medieval streets with boutiques and pubs. Plus, roughly a twelve-minute walk from your door, you can also discover the ruins of Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s classic gothic novel, ‘Dracula’. What’s more, you can even go on a ‘Dracula’ experience, reachable in just six minutes on foot from this home. 

To make the most of your seaside escape, the Blue Flag West Cliff beach, and promenade are just a five-minute walk away. While nestled on the West Cliff, lining Pier Road – which can be reached in eight minutes on foot – you’ll find arcades for hours of fun on rainy days and Whitby’s famous fish restaurants serving the catch of the day because it simply wouldn’t be a beach holiday without fish and chips. 

On sunny evenings, take advantage of the courtyard on the ground floor of this home, and dine alfresco before ending the evening with drinks on the balcony to admire the views one last time. Then curl up on the comfy sofas to relax after an exhausting day of exploring and climbing the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary. Finally, slip into the plush bedding and luxury linens to ensure you have a great night's sleep, ready for another day of adventures.
