This beautifully renovated barn is situated in a stunning, secluded position on the edge of Long Itchington village in Warwickshire. Guests can enjoy uninterrupted views of the surrounding farmland from all aspects of the property. The village's pond and green are within walking distance, where visitors can find a pub for local beer and good food. The barn sleeps eight guests (maximum six adults) and features four bedrooms, including one en-suite bathroom, two en-suite shower rooms, and one family shower room. A walled, gravelled courtyard with a slate patio and lawned areas offers a relaxing outdoor space for guests to unwind. Families with children are welcome, with a travel cot, high chair, and stairgate available upon request. Parking for up to four vehicles is available, and there is WiFi throughout the property. Part of a lovingly converted farm building set within seventy acres of meadowland, this cottage embodies the Cotswold spirit. The interior is a handsome mix of wood panelling, exposed stonework and roaring fires, although there's plenty of modern amenities tastefully added in too — it’s easy to see why it bagged so many tourism awards. As it's part of a small community of five homes, there's also a wealth of communal amenities to enjoy, ranging from a hot tub and a hammock outside, to the combined games and workout room which is packed full of ways to while away rainy days. When the weather does play ball, you can play croquet, badminton, volleyball, Giant Jenga or try your hand at kite-flying. Alternatively, you can lace up your walking boots and head out into the countryside for a bracing walk. The town of Chipping Norton can be reached in ten minutes by car, too.

Or enjoy your morning coffee in the lush gardens before a day of exploring – it's just a short drive to dozens of Cotswolds villages. Drive to the achingly quaint market town of Chipping Norton in just thirty-seven minutes with nearby Hook Norton offering great local beers from one of the area's most popular breweries – it's always worth a visit. This is a home where life on the farm is a thrill, and staying in a barn feels the height of luxury.

There's something to satisfy everyone's wanderlust at this charming period cottage nestled right in the beating heart of Chipping Campden. This is your gateway to the best of the Cotswolds – Market Hall, The Spa at Cotswold House and Chipping Campden's bustling high street are all within walking distance. And when it's time to explore further afield, jump in the car and you can be in the chocolate-box villages of Bourton-on-the Water and Stow-on-the-Wold in fifteen minutes flat. 

Back at this cosy home away from home, exposed Cotswold stone walls, higgledy-piggledy beams and a crackling wood-burning stove bring all the charm. While we liked the comfortable bedrooms and sparkling bathrooms, what really blew us away was the impressive kitchen and dining area. It's the true hub of the home, with plenty of room to cook and dine together. We can easily imagine mornings here, the French doors open wide as you sip coffee on the patio and tuck into a lazy breakfast around the dining table. We also loved the techy extras, like nest heating, electronic locks and Google Home Bluetooth speakers. With the occasional bleat from the neighbouring sheep your only distraction, it doesn't get much more charming than this.

A true recipient of the Plum Award, this home has also received the Green Tourism Silver Award, in recognition of this host's dedication to green initiatives such as energy and water efficiency and mindful waste reduction. Your host can share recommendations on local farmers markets and shops selling locally-sourced food, as well as eco-friendly activities such as cycling routes and nature trails to help you enjoy your stay in Chipping Campden, all the while reducing your carbon footprint. It's a win-win.

The Cotswold Way

You’ll find this renovated church in the village of Paxford, an ideal base from which to explore the Cotswolds. It may not be suitable for children due to the staircase design and historic fixtures throughout the home, but it offers a relaxing retreat for four guests. The mezzanine bedroom is impressive, if lacking a little in privacy, and offers a different perspective of the interiors of this historic building. And with hiking trails on its doorstep, you can be out soaking up the great outdoors in no time. 

The Flintstone

Situated on a quiet cul-de-sac just next to Warwick Castle grounds, this cosy home is an excellent place to rest your feet. Warwick town centre is an easy fourteen-minute stroll away, where you'll find historical museums, independent shops, atmospheric pubs and delicious eateries aplenty. As far as locales go, we think it's hard to beat.

When you're not exploring all Warwick has to offer, make yourself right at home. There's a warm, welcoming feel as soon you step through the front door, thanks to stylish decorations and a plush sofa perfect for sprawling. The TV has Netflix if you fancy a movie night, or if you're in the mood to cook, you'll find everything you need in the kitchen to rustle up a delicious meal – best served, of course, at the dining table, with a bottle of wine and the French doors flung open. During the warmer months, the bistro table in the pretty courtyard invites you to wine and dine alfresco – you can even hear the music from the castle's summer concerts floating in the breeze.

Enjoy a romantic stay at this handsome barn conversion, lying at the end of a track, on a family-run arable farm, surrounded by fields – this is a sublime retreat. Relax with a glass of bubbly in the private hot tub with its idyllic views through the farm to the fields beyond (your lovely hosts provide bathrobes and slippers), then savour a barbecue lunch in the sun. It's also the perfect spot to do a bit of stargazing when the night skies are clear and full of sparkling diamonds. Beautiful bi-fold doors provide plenty of light inside this single-level barn, which was once a grain store. We love the gorgeous stone floor and exposed wooden roof beams framing the high ceiling. A fresh colour scheme of pale cream, yellows and greys complement the rustic yet stylish design. If you can tear yourself away from this love nest, there's plenty to explore. Go for a walk to the historic riverside village of Bidford-on-Avon, sixteen minutes on foot, where you'll find an array of charming pubs, restaurants, shops, and a picturesque church built in 1250. Or visit Shakespeare's Stratford-upon-Avon, around a twenty-five-minute drive, while stunning Warwick Castle is a few minutes more in the car. The magnificent Cotswolds are on your doorstep too – Hidcote Manor Garden, near Chipping Campden, just over a fifteen-minute ride, which has one of Britain's most influential Arts and Crafts gardens.

This beautiful hunting lodge is a Grade II listed building, and as part of the historic Ragley Estate, it dates back to the sixteenth century. Nestled amidst the green Warwickshire countryside, right on the edge of the estate’s grounds, the lodge is an ideal location for a grand yet restful stay with family or a large group of friends – it is also a dream venue for events and special occasions. 

Prepare to be wowed by the sight of the home, as you arrive by the expansive driveway. The charming exterior greets you with its traditional look, which retains most of its original features. Outside you’ll have a huge lawn and garden, as well as a playground for the youngest members of your party. Enjoy evening barbecues and relaxing soaks in the luxurious hot tub. This is also a dream location for your four-legged friends to run free. 

As you step inside you’ll immediately feel yourself embraced by this home’s warm and cosy vibe. Despite its impressive size and beautiful period features all around you, this is no museum – the place emanates charm and is meant to be lived in and enjoyed. We love the grand dining hall, with ancient oak beams lining the walls and ceiling, and the beautifully crafted table inviting you and the entire party to enjoy lavish feasts. And speaking of those, the characterful and well-equipped kitchen will no doubt inspire you to get creative. After dinner, why not invite everyone to join the fun and games in the activity room: you’ll be able to challenge your friends to a round of pool or table football, and there’s also a TV here for added entertainment. 

Head up the stairs to enter the world of sweet dreams, courtesy of the plush and comfy bedrooms, all offering soft beds and gorgeous furnishings. Awake well-rested to the sound of birds outside and go exploring the stunning estate grounds. 

When you’re ready to explore the area you’ll find more than enough to keep you busy, from ancient woodlands and picturesque walks to Shakespeare’s birthplace, Stratford-upon-Avon, a great place for a day trip, located just a fifteen-minute drive away.

That said, it's worth noting taller guests will have to watch their heads around the sloped ceilings. Kids will love the grassy garden, and parents can supervise from the outdoor seating area. Location-wise, the award-winning pub, The Ebrington Arms, is just a few minutes away.

There are beautiful views of the countryside and wildflower meadows from the large, landscaped gardens – there are three terraces to enjoy the peace and tranquillity. There’s also an indoor swim jet heated pool, cedar sauna and fitness area, as well as a home cinema room. This house is primed for entertaining – in the living room there’s a baby grand piano and arrangements can be made for a local pianist to play for you. Another highlight is the bedroom with its freestanding bath with vistas over the locale. Your host really has thought of everything to ensure you have a wonderful stay here.

Set within a 14-acre meadow on the edge of the Cotswolds, this home was created with pure relaxation in mind. The minimalist interiors allow the views to shine – making this the ideal setting for a rural retreat. The outdoor space features a fire pit, barbecue and trampoline. We love the drop-down cinema screen in the living room (great for movie nights), plus there’s a ground-floor bedroom and bathroom – a nice option for those with reduced mobility. From your address, you can follow hiking trails, pick up fresh local produce from Daylesford Organic or drop into Soho Farmhouse – less than a twenty-minute drive away.

It was game, set and match when we saw this elegant 16th Century grange situated on a quiet lane in the heart of Shakespeare country. Play a spot of tennis on the private courts surrounded by beautiful countryside, have a wander around the formal gardens or picnic on the sweeping lawns. Later, read a book in the hanging tree pod or spot the wildlife around the natural swimming lake. There are lovely sunny patios for alfresco dining, too.

If you want a quiet spot, read the newspapers in the garden room with its botanical print wallpaper, purple sofas and chaise longue. South and west-facing windows create a bright and cheerful space. One of our favourite rooms has to be the orangery with its four sets of double doors, glass lantern roof, swan neck chandelier and long refectory style table primed for convivial, lazy brunches.

There's so much house here – we haven't even mentioned the elegant bedrooms – there are canopied beds, four posters, antiques and designer wallpaper aplenty.

This home is surrounded by some wonderful walks. Ancient Hay Wood is under 7 miles away or culture lovers can head to Stratford-upon-Avon for a performance at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. Food lovers, on the other hand, are catered for in Henley-on-Arden, where there are some charming restaurants to discover. Or just relax in the local pub –  there are two friendly ones within a thirty-minute stroll.
