There's something to satisfy everyone's wanderlust at this charming period cottage nestled right in the beating heart of Chipping Campden. This is your gateway to the best of the Cotswolds – Market Hall, The Spa at Cotswold House and Chipping Campden's bustling high street are all within walking distance. And when it's time to explore further afield, jump in the car and you can be in the chocolate-box villages of Bourton-on-the Water and Stow-on-the-Wold in fifteen minutes flat. 

Back at this cosy home away from home, exposed Cotswold stone walls, higgledy-piggledy beams and a crackling wood-burning stove bring all the charm. While we liked the comfortable bedrooms and sparkling bathrooms, what really blew us away was the impressive kitchen and dining area. It's the true hub of the home, with plenty of room to cook and dine together. We can easily imagine mornings here, the French doors open wide as you sip coffee on the patio and tuck into a lazy breakfast around the dining table. We also loved the techy extras, like nest heating, electronic locks and Google Home Bluetooth speakers. With the occasional bleat from the neighbouring sheep your only distraction, it doesn't get much more charming than this.

A true recipient of the Plum Award, this home has also received the Green Tourism Silver Award, in recognition of this host's dedication to green initiatives such as energy and water efficiency and mindful waste reduction. Your host can share recommendations on local farmers markets and shops selling locally-sourced food, as well as eco-friendly activities such as cycling routes and nature trails to help you enjoy your stay in Chipping Campden, all the while reducing your carbon footprint. It's a win-win.

The chic country kitchen is very much the heart of this home, with traditional stone floors and a large dining table that extends towards the cosy lounge. Elegantly framed by vaulted ceilings and traditional oak beams, it’s a wonderfully sociable space to gather. The warm welcome continues out on the patio, where you can enjoy alfresco drinks in the private, enclosed garden and make the most of good weather in the thatched dining hut. The property has two sitting rooms and a snug, as well as eight Smart televisions. Perhaps the most unique feature is the outdoor facilities, including an outdoor dining area with a bespoke resin table seating twelve, hot tub, garden seating area, and tree house observation area. The property is located in Bayton, set in the beautiful Worcestershire countryside near Ludlow and Bewdley. Children of all ages are welcome, and two well-behaved dogs are permitted for a small additional charge. Parking is available for at least four cars.

Beautiful bi-fold doors provide plenty of light inside this single-level barn, which was once a grain store. We love the gorgeous stone floor and exposed wooden roof beams framing the high ceiling. A fresh colour scheme of pale cream, yellows and greys complement the rustic yet stylish design. If you can tear yourself away from this love nest, there's plenty to explore. Go for a walk to the historic riverside village of Bidford-on-Avon, sixteen minutes on foot, where you'll find an array of charming pubs, restaurants, shops, and a picturesque church built in 1250. Or visit Shakespeare's Stratford-upon-Avon, around a twenty-five-minute drive, while stunning Warwick Castle is a few minutes more in the car. The magnificent Cotswolds are on your doorstep too – Hidcote Manor Garden, near Chipping Campden, just over a fifteen-minute ride, which has one of Britain's most influential Arts and Crafts gardens.

The garden backs onto fields and you're a short walk away from Bredon Hill (a popular cycling destination), while a great local pub is just a quick fifteen-minute bike ride away, or closer by car. The cottage itself is modern and thoughtfully decorated, with bright skylights, roomy bathrooms and yellow and blue walls that create a relaxing space. With plenty of walks on your doorstep, the beautiful countryside can be easily explored on foot. This is a typical cottage – spread over three floors, with low ceilings and beams, so may not be the best option for those who may struggle with stairs. Just a fifteen-minute drive from Moreton Marsh train station, which has good transport links to London and Oxford – so you can have the best of both worlds.

Based in the village of Stanton, you've got the Cotswolds on your doorstep here, ideal for intrepid explorers. At home, you'll find historic features alongside modern touches – we were particularly fond of the original inglenook fireplace and the kitchen's skylight. After a hike, you'll want to relax in the freestanding bathtub before enjoying a barbecue out in the garden. Alternatively, head to the nearby pub or cook up a roast in the well-equipped kitchen.

We love the views of the steeple from the bedroom windows, while the shared garden boasts panoramas of the rolling countryside. There's a lot to like indoors, too. The cosy sitting area boasts a wood-burning stove and quintessential wooden beams. Consider yourself to be the chef of the group? You'll have everything you need to rustle up something tasty in the kitchen. When you're ready to venture out, you'll find Chipping Campden, Stratford-upon-Avon, Winchcombe, and other chocolate-box hamlets within a thirty-minute drive.

Nestled within eighty acres of organic arable farmland, this beautiful rural home is actually made up of two shepherd's huts built together. The L-shaped space is super cosy, with an open-plan kitchen where you can rustle up some tasty meals and a breakfast bar where you can sip your morning espresso. The living room is full of rustic charm, with a wood-burning stove that's ideal for warming you up on chiller evenings. However, it's the outside space that will really wow you. On the terrace, you'll find a fabulous sunken hot tub where you can soak under the stars, glass of wine in hand. There's also an outdoor dining area, a formal garden, and even a fire pit where you can huddle round and tell ghost stories after dark. The local footpaths will lead you through the beautiful rolling countryside up to Bredon Hill, and you'll find the local pub is just two miles away. Plus, with countless picturesque Cotswold villages to explore, you're not likely to run out of things to do in this heavenly corner of England.

Shepherds Retreat

Built in the 18th century, it's hard to believe this pretty Cotswolds cottage was once the village police station. Now beautifully modernised, it's a great choice for a family gathering. With all the country walks you could dream of on your doorstep, it's also super convenient – just a five-minute walk from the village shop, cafe and pub in Blockley. Set over three floors and built of the same traditional stone you'll see across the road at the local church, it's a striking building with black-framed, arched windows. Inside, the period features continue with beamed ceilings, wood floors and some exposed stone walls. We especially love the log burning stove in the fireplace opening between the living room and dining room. Extended to the rear, there's a stunning kitchen with a huge roof lantern bringing light in. With a country feel but modern appliances and underfloor heating, it's the best of both worlds. Elsewhere, bedrooms are comfortable and effortlessly stylish. The top floor bedroom is our favourite, with its beautiful bed, sloping ceiling and luxury bathroom. On sunny days, heat up the barbecue and enjoy your meal on the terrace, or step into the table tennis room in the garden and play a few games while dinner cooks. Here you'll be just a twelve-minute drive from Stow-on-the-Wold.

A Field in Bloom

Tucked away, off a country road close to Ledbury, this charming little home comes as quite a surprise. With its rural surroundings and nearby grazing sheep, its bold industrial styling is a real statement, with deep hues on the walls and lots of reclaimed wood. Vaulted ceilings, exposed brickwork and wooden beams add plenty of character but it's touches like the vintage radiators, scaffold pole headboard in the bedroom and the exposed copper pipework in the bathroom that make this place really sing. 

Somewhat upside-down in its layout, the main living space is on the top floor, with direct access to the pretty garden – a private sanctuary. Lounge on the leather sofa, cook in the stylish kitchen area or eat at the table in front of the patio doors. For extra snugness, there's a second lounge on the lower floor, complete with an electric fire for cosy film nights. And while we love the bedroom here, with its sumptuous mattress and faux fur throws, it's the bathroom that stole our hearts – its copper bathtub is a real showstopper.

From here it's a just four-minute drive to the pretty town of Ledbury, and keen walkers will be in their element with the Malvern Hills, the Cotswolds, the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean all within an hour's drive. If you're here during the autumn, you can ask for access to the neighbouring orchard, where you can help yourself to some seasonal fruit, and you can even treat yourself to a private yoga lesson – your host is an experienced instructor.

Nestled amidst the green Warwickshire countryside, right on the edge of the estate’s grounds, the lodge is an ideal location for a grand yet restful stay with family or a large group of friends – it is also a dream venue for events and special occasions. 

Prepare to be wowed by the sight of the home, as you arrive by the expansive driveway. The charming exterior greets you with its traditional look, which retains most of its original features. Outside you’ll have a huge lawn and garden, as well as a playground for the youngest members of your party. Enjoy evening barbecues and relaxing soaks in the luxurious hot tub. This is also a dream location for your four-legged friends to run free. 

As you step inside you’ll immediately feel yourself embraced by this home’s warm and cosy vibe. Despite its impressive size and beautiful period features all around you, this is no museum – the place emanates charm and is meant to be lived in and enjoyed. Snuggle up next to one of the fireplaces, kick off your shoes and lounge about on the large sofas, or get comfy by the huge period windows and gaze out onto the country outside. 

We love the grand dining hall, with ancient oak beams lining the walls and ceiling, and the beautifully crafted table inviting you and the entire party to enjoy lavish feasts. After dinner, why not invite everyone to join the fun and games in the activity room: you’ll be able to challenge your friends to a round of pool or table football, and there’s also a TV here for added entertainment.

Take advantage of balmy days with a stroll through the endless countryside that surrounds your home – there are two circular walks close by, including a 5.5-mile ramble from Alderton to Dumbleton and back. Or why not jump in the car and explore the Regency town of Cheltenham? It’s only a twenty-minute drive away. What better way to end another idyllic afternoon in the Cotswolds than with some pub grub and a glass of rosé at the Gardeners’ Arms, just a five-minute stroll from your doorstep.

The Cottage Green

Unwind amidst the rolling hills and traditional villages of the North Cotswolds at this postcard-pretty lodge tucked away in Chipping Campden. Admired for its wealth of beautiful architecture and history stretching back to Saxon times, this is Cotswolds at its best – and the same can be said for this charming cottage.

Recently restored throughout, while lofty exposed oak beams and honey Cotswold stone walls remain to tell of the lodge’s rich heritage, everywhere else is beautifully reimagined for luxurious modern living. Upstairs, on the first floor, you’ll find one hug of a king-sized bed feathered in quality Egyptian Cotton awaiting in the two serene double bedrooms and a luxurious rolltop bath for post-hike evening soaks. While up into the eaves on the top floor, you'll find a characterful third bedroom with twin beds that would perfectly suit children or friends sharing. 

But it’s back downstairs in the expertly extended living areas where we think you’ll spend most of your time together. Hunker down in the cosy lounge for board games and catch-ups. Then spill out into the light-filled dining area overlooking a pretty courtyard garden for drinks and nibbles. And though cooking is a joy in that made-for-action kitchen, those charming local inns and top-notch restaurants on your doorstep might just be too tempting.
