Set over two floors in a large Victorian house, the home features lots of the owners' finds from across the globe, from crochet rugs picked up in Brazil through to wooden African masks. Pick up books from the shelves and leaf through next to the large sash windows, or simply curl up on the leather sofa for a Netflix movie night. Our favourite space is the attic, reached by a winding staircase with a cosy bed tucked under the rafters and draped in netting — sweet dreams are pretty much guaranteed. The expansive Portcanna Fields are just across the road, while the Principality Stadium is a quarter of an hour's walk if you want to catch a game of rugby.

Though on the smaller side, the all-in-one living/dining/kitchen area still feels bright and roomy. Two extra guests can sleep on the contemporary sofa bed, but we'd say this home is a better base for two. Begin your mornings with breakfast in the bay window before immersing yourself in history at Cardiff Castle, exploring the shops and cafes along the Victorian arcades or taking lunch waterside at Cardiff Bay. For dinner, we recommend grabbing a bite at one of the excellent restaurants, pubs and bars close by, then finish off the evening with a glass of wine in the lounge.

Cardiff Bay can be reached in twelve minutes on foot, where you can admire the grand russet exterior of the Pierhead Building, or get a dose of culture at the Norwegian Church Art centre, a beautiful gallery set in a 19th century church with views across the bay. After a day of work or exploring, draw yourself a bubble bath, and then settle down for a movie night together.

Watch a rugby game at Principality Stadium or shop around the Morgan Quarter. Should you fancy a day at the seaside, Barry Island Beach is a forty-minute car ride away.

Check-in with your four-legged friends to this chic bolthole stood close to the water's edge of the newly generated Cardiff Bay. Catching our eye with its colourful living area and terrace, we think this flat in hip Pontcanna is perfect for two style-conscious couples. If alfresco dining is out of bounds due to drizzle, the breakfast bar can squeeze everyone around it for indoor meals. While the bedrooms are a little snug – the second requires one guest to climb over the bed to reach their side – they are cosy spots to rest after a day exploring Bute Park and Cardiff city centre (twenty-five minutes on foot or ten by bus). Closer to home, you'll find quaint eateries and cosy pubs just a short stroll away.

Immerse yourself in local life at this charming two-bedroom townhouse, set in a residential area of the city. Sandwiched between bustling, student-friendly Cathays, and the open green spaces of Roath, this charming home offers easy access to everything Cardiff has to offer. 

Beyond your family-friendly surroundings, Cardiff's bustling City Centre – with its vast covered market, grand Victorian shopping arcades and ancient landmarks – is approximately 1.5 miles away. Alternatively, head a few miles south and explore Cardiff Bay's impressive regenerated waterfront, with its wealth of restaurants, bars, cafes and shops.
