In another life this home was a barn, but it has since been converted into a gorgeous holiday home for four visitors. Step inside, and admire the original features – the high ceilings with oak beams and exposed stone walls will take your breath away. The open-plan layout lends itself to socialising, and you can chat with your fellow guests as you cook, eat and relax. Just outside the barn, you'll find your very own hot tub, perfect for soaking away your troubles in perfect peace. You'll find yet more tranquility in the shared grounds, with acres of beautifully landscaped gardens and wild meadows to explore. There's even a lake stocked with large fish, including trout and carp, which will delight keen fishers. This home is right on the edge of Pembrokeshire National Park, where you can hike, cycle or even horse-ride through the beautiful landscapes. The sea is just a ten-minute drive away too, so you can dip your toes in the water at Broad Haven Beach, or visit some of the quaint fishing villages dotted along the coast. 

Oak Beams

Fun and relaxation come easy at this modern log cabin, located just a seven-minute walk from the charming village of St Florence. With its timber exterior surrounded by garden landscapes, you’ll feel utterly at peace in this gorgeous getaway. Inside, rustic cosiness is the name of the game with contemporary furnishings inviting you to kick back and relax beside the wood-burning fire in the open-plan living space. Fire up the TV (equipped with Netflix) for a movie marathon or enjoy a glass of wine by the glow of the fire while playing board games. At sunset, head out to the front deck for a glass of bubbly as the sky turns to shades of pink and gold before lighting the barbecue for an alfresco feast under the stars. When it’s time to turn in, the two bedrooms wait to drift you into a peaceful night’s sleep. Outside of your tranquil home, the Dinosaur Park is a three-minute drive away, Manor Wildlife Park is a fourteen-minute stroll and Tenby – with its sandy award-winning beaches – is eight minutes away by car. 


Wild Fern

When Mary Ann Evans paid a visit to this home in 1857, she was inspired to write a novel. A year later, Scenes From A Clerical Life was published under the nom de plume George Eliot and over the course of the next twenty years, she would write some of the most influential books of the period, including Middlemarch and Daniel Deronda.

No pressure to anybody coming to this four-storey, Grade-II listed townhouse in the present day, then. Straight away, you can see why it had the power to rouse dormant literary ambitions — the view from the huge windows of Tenby Harbour is nothing short of sublime. Even though the interior has been updated in the proceeding two centuries, there are still signs of the home's heritage, from the high ceilings and tall windows to the original wooden floorboards in the hallway.

If you ever need a break from working on your manuscript, Castle Beach takes all of a minute to reach on foot, as does the 12th-century landmark that lends the sandy spot its name. Catching the twenty-minute ferry to see the abbey on Caldey Island is well worth doing, too.



Literary Ambitions

Welcome to Luxury Haven, a stunning barn conversion on the outskirts of the quaint town of Narberth. This charming property exudes elegance and attention to detail in every corner. Unwind in the main bathroom's large bath/waterfall shower after a day of exploration. The open plan living room/dining room features stylish décor, a chesterfield sofa, widescreen smart TV, and an electric fire for cosy evenings. The spacious kitchen boasts beamed ceilings, exposed brick walls, and traditional arch windows. Upstairs, you'll find a twin room and a master bedroom with a super King size bed and beautiful countryside views. Enjoy the serene surroundings and ample parking space on the private driveway. Luxury Haven is the perfect countryside retreat close to amenities and popular towns.

Country Cottage Bliss

Discover the beauty of the South Pembrokeshire from this stunning beachfront base, situated in the small seaside resort of Saundersfoot. More compact than nearby Tenby, which lies a few miles to the south, the place has a unique charm all of its own.

South-facing sea views grab all the headlines here, with large windows in the open layout living area/kitchen, plus direct access to a private balcony ensuring you can make the most of the unparalleled location. 

The interior decor is no less eye-catching, with mid-century style leather seating, a wood burner set into the wall, plus a subtle maritime theme, with hints of blue and wood cladding that reminded us of the side of a beach hut.

Sharing the open-plan space is the kitchen, with the sink set up so you can look out at the waves as you wash up the bits and pieces that won't fit in the dishwasher. Rather sensibly, the hob and oven face the opposite way, to minimise distractions. With dinner ready, it's down to you to plate up and grab a seat at the rustic yet elegant dining table.

Elsewhere, the two bedrooms keep up with the nods to the nautical setting, with striped wallpaper and sea-themed artwork adorning the walls.

In addition to the expansive beach, the old tramway route that connected the coal port to mines at Stepsaside survives as a spectacular section of the picturesque Pembrokeshire Coast Path. It's 186 miles long in total, but we'd recommend dipping in and out to walk along particularly panoramic parts.

Those who prefer their outdoor activities more action-packed will find some of Pembrokeshire's finest surf spots within a twenty-mile drive. A particular standout is Freshwater West, which is hailed by many as the most reliable break in the land of dragons and daffodils.



Stroll Along the Strand

Sitting just a short walk from the heart of Saundersfoot, this handsome apartment is just the ticket for a family or group of friends looking to make the most out of this corner of the beautiful Pembrokeshire.

Dressed in calming neutral shades and comfy, contemporary decor, you’ll have no trouble making yourself at home here, whether that’s snuggled up on the sofa with a blanket and a mug of tea or gathered around the dining table for a homecooked feast when you’re not out sampling the local seafood eateries. 

The two bedrooms are just as inviting with their brightly coloured accents and tiled bathrooms – one of which is an en-suite – while the building’s communal terrace beckons sunny morning coffees and celebratory sundowners when the weather is balmy.

Outside of your home, Saundersfoot Beach is easily reachable on foot, as are the harbour and Saundersfoot Lighthouse, not to mention a plethora of restaurants and shops. 


The Kittiwake's Call

Set within a beautiful garden landscape, this modern log cabin provides an ideal getaway for those looking for fun, relaxation and easy access to the coast. Just a seven-minute walk from the charming village of St Florence yet boasting a peaceful locale that feels like you’re away from it all, you’ll have no trouble easing into leisurely living here. Inside your home, the rustic log cabin feel is reflected in the cosy, comfortable furnishings with a wood-burner in the living room inviting you to snuggle up by it over wine and board games. The two bedrooms are wonderfully peaceful and ensure you get a blissful night’s sleep while outside, the deck beckons celebratory sundowners and the picnic table is all set to host alfresco barbecue feasts beneath the stars. When you’re ready to go out and explore, St Florence has a host of pubs and shops to discover, while Tenby – and its award-winning beaches – is just eight minutes away by car.  


Lady Laurel

This meticulously restored 200-year-old cottage is a cosy retreat found in the quiet village of Lawrenny. Downstairs, it’s all chalk-white walls, original timber beams and hardwood floors. Up in the eaves, quiet, cosy bedrooms with premium-quality sheets guarantee a blissful night’s sleep. We loved the touch of coastal cool that ties it all together – think nautical stripes and maritime bits-and-bobs. 

The farmhouse style kitchen is the heart of the home, where conversation ebbs and flows around the dining table over a hearty homemade supper. When the plates are cleared, break out the board games for an evening of friendly competition. 

On sunny mornings, spill out into the garden for breakfast on the patio – pick up a loaf of sourdough from the bakery just two minutes from your door. Take advantage of the fair weather with a wander through the countryside or jump in the car and drive for twenty-five minutes to Tenby for an enriching afternoon at the coast. 

Wild Daffodil

Situated in the heart of Saundersfoot, this apartment’s enviable location is perfect for a family seaside getaway. Compact and cosy, the bedrooms, in particular, are a bit of a squeeze, but it has everything needed for a comfortable stay. The second bedroom is short on space when sleeping four – having said that, it’s ideal for families with young children. Getting ready in the mornings may take a while with one bathroom, but that’ll soon be forgotten once you step onto the golden sands of nearby Saundersfoot beach.

Salt Water Sonata

Found just outside the town of Narbeth in beautiful Pembrokeshire, this home is generous both when it comes to size and the number of distractions that guests will have at their disposal.

Many of these amenities lie out on the grounds, which include everything from a full-size rugby pitch with posts and a zipline to a lake and orchard perfect for peaceful strolls. Add an eight-person hot tub into the mix and you've got a property in which boredom is unlikely to rear its head.

There's plenty to like inside as well. As well as three separate living areas — including one on the first floor with pretty views of rolling countryside — we're also particularly fond of the huge kitchen fitted with sleek surfaces and smart wooden finishes.

When you want to see a little more of the local area, it's hard to know where to start. If the sun makes an appearance, why not head for Coppet Hall Beach only fifteen minutes' drive away or one of the huge number of coves and sandy spots that lie along the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path? Alternatively, the charming town of Tenby lies twenty minutes away in the car.


The First Day of Spring

We dare you to find a home with a more spectacular view of Carmarthenshire's coastline than this. Perched on a hill overlooking Pendine's seven miles of golden sands below, the panoramic sea views reach far and wide, from the Carmarthen Bay to the Gower peninsula.

Every inch of this palatial, luminous home is designed with those vistas in mind. Curl up in the sumptuous king-size bed of the main suite with a cuppa and lose yourself to the horizon. Pad out across the porcelain tiled veranda and slip into the hot tub. Bring your ensemble together on the top floor for lazy breakfasts in the vast living area, awash in deep blues and restful greys. Or come together for sunset cocktails and barbecues on the expansive terrace – the outdoor mood lighting will help set the ambience. Wherever you choose to be, those magnificent seascapes will be right there.

If you can bear to part your gaze, if just for a while,  the silky sands and charming promenade of Pendine are just a nine-minute drive away. A traditional, understated seaside resort – it's all chalets, fish'n'chips, and windbreaks – just as it should be. But be sure to make it home for dusk - the sunset views from the hot tub are out-of-this-world.

Once Upon a Tide

Overlooking Tenby's South Beach, this apartment on the lower-ground floor of a handsome yellow building is ideal for those who want to be able to go from their front door to the seaside in a matter of seconds, rather than minutes.

Aside from this proximity to the sea, we found lots else to like about the home. The design is pared-back and sophisticated, with parquet floors, white walls and a selection of chic furnishings creating the relaxed ambience of a high-end hotel's lobby. The baby-blue kitchen is both super-sleek and big enough for cooking up hearty meals, while there's also a private courtyard outside just in case the weather's nice enough to dine alfresco.

If that's the case, there's plenty to see and do in this south Welsh idyll. Tenby Castle is only ten minutes' walk up the coast, as is the town's Museum and Art Gallery. This area by the North Beach is also where you can catch a ferry to Caldey Island, on which you can visit the monastery and spot some of the diverse wildlife.
