Perched right in front of the sea and offering views of Messinian Bay, this apartment delivers on location. Exploring Kalamata on foot is easy, with local taverns, restaurants, and bars within easy reach. The beach and port are also just across the street. Back home, you can rest your feet in the modern living space. Although the lofted main bedroom is comfortable and contemporary, it isn't the most private since it overlooks the lounge. Guests five and six will also be sleeping on a sofa bed, so we think it's best for shorter trips. Overall, the home lacks some creature comforts – including a washing machine and proper air conditioning – but it's a convenient place to unwind between adventures.

It's fair to say that each of the Greek islands has a distinct identity and Spetses appeals to those fond of the finer things in life, with plenty of high-end restaurants and boutiques dotted across the map. You'll also find some rather impressive villas, such as this majestic home.

With the glistening waters of the Argolic Gulf and the looming landmass of Argolis on the horizon, plus olive groves and evergreen forest to either side, you couldn't ask for a better view than the one this villa enjoys.

Pack your seaside essentials and take a two-minute walk down to the empty beach in front of the villa. Stretch out on the soft sand or paddle in the sea before heading over to the vibrant town of Porto Heli for dinner at a charming taverna or a fine-dining restaurant, just fifteen minutes away by car.

Art Deco aficionados will adore this home on the Athenian riviera. Designed by a French architect in the 1930s, the special house has been modernised over the years but is still rich in original features. From the grand oak staircase to the terrazzo tiles in the hallway, it's a visual feast for nostalgic travellers.

And there's more to see in the gardens – that's right, there are two gardens. On the east side, you'll find a sun lounger-fringed swimming pool as well as a peaceful veranda. The west garden is home to a flourishing orange tree, which provides shade for the six-person dining table. Grill up a storm on the barbecue and spend all evening outdoors.

History buffs can't leave this area without visiting the Temple of Apollo at Corinth, fifteen minutes away by car. The limestone structure is perched on a rocky hill with views over the ancient city.
